Trump Approval Hits Record Low, MTG Nuke Claims, Flock Cameras | 08/18/26

Trump's approval rating has plummeted to a record low of 33% as the Iran conflict, gas prices, and affordability concerns push voters to the breaking point. On this episode of Liberty Roundtable, host Sam Bushman and co-host James Edwards of thepoliticalcesspool.org break down the collapse of Trump's standing, Marjorie Taylor Greene's explosive claims about nuclear options, and the surveillance state expanding through Flock Safety cameras. The discussion covers Trump's White House renovations, including a new ballroom and the melted Reflecting Pool, his threats against Oman and Iran, and how even his core base in rural Alabama is splitting over the affordability crisis. Sam and James examine the Will to Power conference, how MAGA has shifted from an America First movement to sycophancy, and the growing disillusionment among conservative Christian voters who backed Trump multiple times. The episode closes with a look at Flock Safety license plate cameras and Trump's indecision on the surveillance technology despite Fourth and Fifth Amendment concerns. What you will learn in this episode: How Trump's approval rating sank to 33% amid the Iran conflict and rising gas prices Marjorie Taylor Greene's claims that the Trump administration discussed using nuclear weapons against Iran Why even diehard Trump supporters in rural Alabama are considering sitting out or voting for the other party How the Will to Power conference revealed the shift in MAGA from principle to sycophancy Why Flock Safety surveillance cameras raise Fourth and Fifth Amendment concerns and Trump's uncertain stance Timestamps: 00:00 Show Intro and Trump White House Renovations 00:18 Trump Ballroom, Reflecting Pool, and Helipad Projects 05:24 Trump Threatens Oman and Iran Conflict Escalation 08:38 Marjorie Taylor Greene Claims Trump Discussed Nukes 14:11 Trump Approval Hits Record Low at 33 Percent 21:17 Flock Safety Cameras and Fourth Amendment Concerns Subscribe to Liberty Roundtable for fearless, independent political commentary that's been on the radio for nearly 30 years. [00:00:04] Broadcasting live from atop the Rocky Mountains, the crossroads of the West. You are listening to the Liberty Roundtable Radio Talk Show.

[00:00:17] The Donald wants to dance the night away. He can't get his mind off of the ballroom. Everybody's hanging out with a reflecting pool that's melted down. James Edwards with me to break it down. Fang Fang's in the news. Tina's in the news. Donald's in the news. Eric's in the news.

[00:00:35] I mean, we're just all over the place, ladies and gentlemen. Happy to have you along. Hard-hitting news. The networks you've used to use starts now. No, it's not really the show that's all over the place. It's the news that's all over the place. They don't know what they're talking about. We're talking about news from what? 9-11? 2001? Now they just released the first footage that came from a, what do they call it? A domestic or just a private party. These guys were taking pictures. They were given special permission to film. They were the only ones to get that civilian film coverage.

[00:01:05] And we had to wait 25 years for it to be released. Don't know why, but it's just how government is so secret and belligerent. It's insane. Happy to have you along, my fellow Americans. I'm Sam Bushman. James Edwards is with me to break it all down today. The Political Cesspool.org is his award-winning broadcast every Saturday night. Available at your fingertips anytime at the Political Cesspool.org. Welcome back, James.

[00:01:31] Great to be back, Sam. It is a very, very, very busy stretch for your humble servant. Just got back from Alabama last weekend. Did a talk and a live remote broadcast from a conference down there. I try to cluster my travel when it's politically related to try to crunch it into a month so it's not just spread out all over the calendar. Of course, you're all over the place all the time. No, man, you've got to travel all the time. You've got to tell the tale of freedom everywhere you go, buddy. Come on. Well, listen, I can get you some intel.

[00:02:01] Place to go, people to see. Yeah. I've got more people to see. I'll be heading out again in a week for a little tour into East Tennessee and all the way up through Central and even Northern Virginia. So in a few days, I'll be on the footsteps of Washington, D.C. I can go over there. I will go over there for you and get any sort of intelligence you need. I can take a look at the Reflecting Pool. We'll get to the bottom of all of this. I'll be your man on the ground there. You know what?

[00:02:30] I'd like to get you standing in front of the Reflecting Pool. We can put me and you on camera. We can put you on there remotely and we can go ahead and do a video and you can show over to the Reflecting Pool. Was it vandalism? Donald's saying it's vandalism. Others are saying, no, it was the contractors that melted down. And Donald said, well, it's the contractors too. And the bottom line is, how come they can't get this thing squared away? I mean, this is a simple project, isn't it, for the Donald? I mean, this guy builds skyscrapers and such. Come on now. You would think that cleaning a swimming pool, which is all it is, it's a concrete, you know, very shallow.

[00:03:00] Yeah, but it's a government swimming pool, James. Them are different. Well, there's so many projects going on. Maybe they just are spread too thin. You know, he has been putting together this helipad right outside the portico of the White House. I mean, just within a few feet, he can be from his porch to the helicopter. And he made them completely tear it down and redo it for some cosmetic reasons. And then, of course, the ballroom. Sounds like we've got plenty of money running around, James.

[00:03:27] Did you see the AI video of Trump giving a tour of the ballroom to an AI version of George Washington? Yeah, why do we need the ballroom in the first place, though? You know, that's a good question. I don't mind that he's adding a ballroom to the White House. He certainly has the right to do that. But I would say that he's probably – and I don't care about the money. Where does he get that right? Where does he get the money to spend? Doesn't Congress control the purse strings? Well, I mean, again, I'm not going to quibble over a few million dollars, you know, in the grand scheme of things.

[00:03:57] But, I mean, I'm not saying I like it. I just think – yeah, it's just of all the things we could talk about, that's not high on the list. But it is – Well, if you and your girlfriend were both at the party and you were in the ballroom, you and old Fang Fang, you might change your mind there. Why do we never get payoffs like the SPLC dishes out and they never send honeypots to us, you know, these guys? We're not interested in honeypots or payouts, by the way. Well, we won't fall for honeypots. That's why. No, that's right. That's right.

[00:04:26] I don't need anything healthy anyway, so. But if they center in the form of like a Big Mac, maybe. There you go. You'd have to have Big Mac with no pickles and no onions, though. Well, here it is, Sam. And I have to – it's an order so simple. It's bizarre that they only get it right about 50% of the time. This is my order every time I go to McDonald's. I want a Big Mac with mustard only. No cheese, just meat, mustard, and bread.

[00:04:55] And it's 50% they get it right. It's so easy it's confusing. That's not the traditional Big Mac. That's not the default, my friend. But it's even easier than what they put together normally. You've got to take stuff off. When they put it together normally, it's just follow-up procedure. Well, they're not just having a bunch of Big Macs just sitting there, you know, with all the fixing. Yeah, they just got lights over them and keep them warm for you, buddy. Come on now. Those things will last a lifetime, my friend. That's what they say. That's why I never can't get this. Well, Donald Trump, they say, what is this thing now?

[00:05:24] Bomb and I'm on. Is that what the deal is? Donald says if they get in the middle of everything, he's just going to go ahead and take care of them, too. He's just threatening everybody around the world, James. It has completely cratered his standing within the public eye. And I guess technically, I mean, we always knew there was a cult of personality around Trump. What was refreshing 10 years ago and what was a novelty in this brash talk, this belligerent talk, it was refreshing in 16. Now it's become stale.

[00:05:54] And especially when it's being used against Trump. Well, it's because who was punted at? You know, instead of it being the media justifiably so now, it's just that everybody else in the world creating, in my opinion, world, what do you want to call it? Ratchet up agenda 101? I mean, is that what we're talking about? It's not just that. I mean, it's not just that he's betrayed one of his signature issues that propelled him into power both times, staying out of these foreign entanglements. I mean, he's using that belligerent rhetoric against his own base. People saying, Donald, I can't afford to eat.

[00:06:24] I can't afford insurance or a house or even food. And he's just saying, you know, buckle up and, you know, we got to do this to keep them from getting a nuke. Nobody believes Iran's about to get a nuke and use it. But you got to eat ramen so we can stop this from happening. I mean, and listen, as you know how the vote share is distributed across the country in its natural state. I mean, Republicans are only about 33. Registered Republicans are only about whether you're MAGA or establishment or whatever.

[00:06:54] Establishment. Excuse me. Republican voters are only about 33 percent of the electorate. Then you got independents and Democrats making up the rest of it. I mean, it's a pretty even distribution across those lines. But I was in Alabama. It might be a little bigger than both of them if they could stick together enough. But anyway. But, of course, independents float. Exactly. To either party. And even though they're a little bit bigger, their impact isn't bigger because they don't stick together. But what I will tell you is I was just down in the heart of Trump country in rural red state, Alabama.

[00:07:25] And I was with the core of the core of his demographic, white conservative Christian men. And over the course of the weekend, I would say that even amongst his most diehard core base, people who voted for him two or three times minimum. Yes, sir. You're looking at a very even split of people who are thinking about setting it out this time. Some people are even going to vote for the other party because the affordability issue has gotten so out of hand.

[00:07:51] And, you know, but didn't I warn you guys all back in 16 about all this, James? I told you guys. You guys thought I was out in the weeds and off my rock crazy. And I told you guys flat out straight out, buddy, while we were watching Donald go ahead and take the nomination. I said, hey, man, this guy's a crime boss. This guy ain't who you think he is. This guy's. I told you that straight up, didn't I? Hey, Sam, nobody likes to hear. I told you so. I just have to say it because, man, this is listen.

[00:08:21] This is 10 years ago. And I was spot on then. And I'm spot on now. So he's threatening now Amman because they are going to get in the middle of it. He's already threatened Iran. The only one he's not threatened is Benjamin Netanyahu. He's not threatening him. He's buddies with that guy. But now Marjorie Taylor Greene's weighing in on this whole topic, too, to make matters even more controversial. She has claims that Trump administration and Trump and company are talking about using nukes.

[00:08:49] Greene has alleged that Iran, well, might be ended up being nuked by the Donald. She accuses the administration of discussing what they call potentially catastrophic military options, despite the contradictions. These revelations come as Trump says, hey, they cannot have nuclear weapons. But yet now the Republicans and everybody's kind of confused on it. The Republicans are kind of trying to back away from the Donald on this and everything else.

[00:09:17] And he seems to want to just go from the frying pan into the fire, James. Well, the good news about that, if there is a good news or a silver lining, is that he doesn't really follow through with much of what he says. He certainly didn't follow through on a lot of his campaign promises. But even this crazy talk about bombing, and I haven't heard the nuke thing yet, and I pray that that's not true. Yeah, that's Marjorie Taylor Greene accusing Donald of that. And I don't know if it's factual or not.

[00:09:44] She claims because they really drilled her down and they said, do you just think this or do you know? And she said, I have intel and I know. Now, I'd like her to deliver the goods and tell us where she got it. But yet at the same time, you know, she did have some inside info at one time. Well, I'm sure. I mean, what are we talking about? Trump speaking out of his back end and saying, I'm going to nuke somebody. I mean, he probably has said that. I don't know if that necessarily means that they're making plans to do it. But, I mean, all of this is just bad, bad, bad.

[00:10:12] I mean, the whole ideology that made MAGA what it appeared to be to the voters. By the way, what is MAGA now anyway? It's whoever can be the biggest sycophant. It is Lindsey Graham and his sister. It is Mitch Mennett and Niger. It is Mark Levin. It is make America beholden to whoever can afford concessions. All right. We've got to change our tune because we've got to move this to Wednesdays. We're making some switches.

[00:10:42] We don't have it done yet. Little shout out to the good old Sheriff Richard Mack, though. But all I'm telling you is what does it mean? Make America grimace again? Is that what we're talking about nowadays? Hang tight. I'm Sam. He's James. This is Liberty Roundtable Live. Every day, Americans are told to hate each other while the people in power keep winning. But what if there's another path? What if Americans could come together and take this country back peacefully before it's too late?

[00:12:32] Still answering freedom's call. A badge of promise. A constitutional track history. My ladies and gentlemen, Sam Bushman got James Edwards with me. We're switching Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Normally you have Richard Mack on Tuesdays, but we're switching him to Wednesdays because we're going to be doing the webinar right after the show. So the show and the webinar are going to be a special perk for those who are members of the CSPOA posse. CSPOA.org

[00:12:58] So the only people that will be able to see the show live will be the CSPOA members. Everybody else will get it on the radio or wait for the posted video after the fact. Anyway, so Marjorie Taylor Greene saying, hey, Donald's talking nukes, man. And that's a very serious charge. She better be right and have her intel together, man. Her claims like that are insane, in my humble opinion. But is it true? Don't know. But I do know this. Americans are starting to decide that Trump has bitten off more than he can chew.

[00:13:28] Trump's hits record low in his approval ratings because of the Iran conflict, because of the price of gas, all time low with just 33% of Americans satisfied with his performance. That's according to what they call the Reuters Ipsos survey. And it's conducted amid escalating concerns over the prolonged or the Iran plus gas prices,

[00:13:58] the conflict affecting global oil supplies and threatening, you know, all kinds of things. It's just everywhere. It's threat tariffs. I mean, everything he's doing just seems to escalate the problems. Trump becomes a provocateur on every front is the problem here. And so 33% of Americans go, yeah, he's still fine. I don't see how 33% really still think that. But there you go. James, you want to take this one? What do you say to that? Well, it's interesting that that was the number because that without having read that

[00:14:27] far into the notes, that's what I was saying in the previous segment. You know, the voting demographic is split in about those proportions. You got about 30% of ride or die Republicans that are going to give a stamp of approval to whatever the Republican in office is doing. I would say that, well, a couple of things. A lot of people have soured on Trump.

[00:14:49] And I am still a little bit more favorable towards him than some only because I look at it just politically, pragmatically. And what I know is for every reason you are upset with Trump about, the other party is going to do the exact same thing. So with regards to the war in Iran, the other party has the House money to play fast and loose

[00:15:18] with their positions right now because they're not in power. But if they were in power or when they reassume power, they are still owned and operated by the same special interests that own the top end of the Republican Party. So you're going to get everything you don't like about Trump with the Democrats. Plus, oh, by the way, they're going to weaponize all of the governmental agencies once again against conservative groups. At least with Trump, you've got people in the SPLC going to prison. By the way, I was down there in Alabama 10 miles from the SPLC headquarters.

[00:15:48] And it's great to see at least that there's that. Did you enroll in the SPLC and talk to Heidi? Really? I drove right past it. I did. I didn't go in because they have armed guards. And it looks like the Death Star from Star Wars. Their building does. It looks like the Soviet piece of brutalist architecture. But it's so interesting is that on a one square city block in Montgomery, in downtown Montgomery, you've got the state cap.

[00:16:13] In two tenths of a mile, you can walk this one block, two tenths of a mile. You can be at the Alabama State Capitol where Jefferson Davis, there's a gold star in the marble there where he stood where he was inaugurated as president of the Confederacy. There is a marker where Dixie was first played in a band arrangement for the first time. And then you have the first White House of the Confederacy, all right there.

[00:16:41] And on the other side of the block, you have the church where Martin Luther King was the pastor of during the so-called Civil Rights Movement and the SPLC headquarters. All of this is on the same block in Montgomery. A lot of history in Alabama. Oh, yeah. A lot of history. A lot of controversy and everything else. But as far as Trump goes, he has sunk the GOP's chances. I think that that was something everybody was unanimous about in Alabama is that the Republicans are going to get wiped out. And I don't think it's going to be good for any of us, even those of us who are sour on Trump.

[00:17:10] But most people are just thinking, is life good for me? Am I comfortable? Am I able to make a living? And when the answer is no, you're going to look for change. No matter how desperate that change may be, you're going to vote for the other party just to get relief just on the hopes that it will be different. And that's what's going to happen. Or you're not going to vote. You're going to sit this out as a protest, right? That's right. A lot of people are going to do that. To insult the injury on the other side, because they will come out. They'll be empowered and everything else. Now, what's interesting to me about this is, think about this. How long ago was it that Donald Trump got elected for the second time?

[00:17:40] Not even two years, right? This is what's crazy, Sam. And this was brought up, if you don't mind me just saying this very quickly, because you were a big part of this. You were a big part of this. It is striking, as a matter of fact, because you had that first flurry of activity with the releasing of all the J6 sausages and all of the flurry of executive orders in the first few days, if not the first few hours, the first few days when he was reinstated in January of last year.

[00:18:08] You're talking about less than, well, about a year and a half now total. But we were so encouraged by what we were seeing from Trump 2.0. Well, y'all were. I wasn't. I just said, we'll see. Well, y'all were thinking that the stars over the line, we were going to rout out the deep state, didn't you? Well, we, in terms of, although you were a part of the contingent, but we, I guess I'm speaking now of me and some people who were in Alabama with the Conservative Citizens Foundation.

[00:18:36] And we scrambled to put together this Will to Power conference, and that was me and you and them and American Free Press were the sponsors. Because even though I didn't have confidence in Trump, folks, I wanted to do everything I could to help him if it was legitimate. So I did have my doubts, but I did want to give support for legitimacy. And I really prayed Donald was legitimate. Well, what the purpose of that conference was, was to see how can we tap into this newfound

[00:19:01] momentum that we were getting, certainly in the first few days of the new administration. And so we hastily put together this sold out conference from, we decided to do it in January. We had the conference in May. Now that is a, that is a short time to put together a major conference, especially when you're talking about having elected senators from Europe, elected members of parliament, former members of Congress here, aspiring candidates. I mean, we had a, it was, it showcased elected officials. We invited Donald and didn't come, you know.

[00:19:31] But, uh, and then you had, well, the point is this, there was a gentleman there who gave a speech and it was, uh, he has a, uh, a right wing web scene and he gave the most pro Trump speech I've ever seen really any of our partisans do. And he gave a speech at Alabama last weekend. This is the point. And it was the most black pilled anti Trump speech. And I talked to him on the show about it last Saturday.

[00:19:58] And I said, Brad, how did you go from speaking at our will to power conference in South Carolina 14 months ago, being so Trump to where you are now with your opinions of the president? He, he laid it down one by one. And so the point is Sam, um, and it was all for very good reason. I mean, very cold analytical, right out reasoned arguments. Ladies and gentlemen, he has not left a bench.

[00:20:22] Uh, see, there is no ideological air to what MAGA was presented as being in the two campaigns and especially in 16 and in 24. Uh, he has in fact. Drummed out of the party, the people who actually bought into the messaging that he himself was delivering on those campaigns, which was very inspirational and very America first. People like Marjorie Taylor green and, uh, Thomas Massey have been drummed out, uh, sycophants, uh, uh, like, like Lindsey Graham.

[00:20:52] And now his sister have risen to the, to the front. It's all about who can, um, massage Trump's ego. And it really has nothing to do with anything on principle. Unfortunately, it's a tragedy. And here's the point. You know, you wonder what Donald thinks about things that are coming up now, you know, things that are critical. One of the big things people are really worried about right now in America, in addition to the economy and everything else is, Hey, what about the controversial flock safety program and cameras?

[00:21:20] They're popping up cameras everywhere, reading our license plates, monitoring everything we do. It's like big brother nation on psychotic steroids. And the headline says Trump undecided on safety cameras amid privacy concerns. Donald announced his quote indecision. On the contentious flock safety systems, promising he'll figure it out and let you know in a couple of weeks, he says they're doing some research there.

[00:21:49] The technology criticized for potential privacy infringements and misuse by law enforcement. Now it's been misused by law enforcement. What the law enforcement do is they see a pretty chick in a nice car and they go, Hey man, what's that license plate? Look her up, dude. And you know, it goes South. And so there's abuse, stalking legal and public backlash and Trump's, you know, confusing stance.

[00:22:19] Well, he doesn't really know. He said, he'll get back to you on it. How can you not know James? When you look at the fourth and fifth amendment of the constitution and you have cameras up everywhere basically where they've got your license plate, which ties into your registration for your vehicle, which ties into your insurance, which has your name, your social security number, your birth date, your, your driver's license, your photo, your, how can they think this is right under any circumstances? If you have a, just a modicum of understanding the constitution, you go, wait a minute,

[00:22:47] this just, or even a belief in America. This just isn't okay for government to have this. And Donald's on the fence. Hey, you know, it is. Where's grounding in principle, James? Unsettling that there are cameras everywhere. I mean, everybody's got one in their pocket now with, with, with cell phones, of course, that's a little different, but I mean, you go into any convenience store, any hotel, believe me, when we, uh, we, we drove over to the Alabama state Capitol, uh, so I could

[00:23:17] get, uh, you know, some photos of me and Eddie and some friends that were there. And my son was with me and we wanted to get some photos, you know, where, where Davis stood and, um, you know, but they've got some nice cameras all over that building. Let me tell you. And that's just, you know, the private and, uh, you know, the private use. And I guess, you know, the state capitals public use, but these are cameras that you might expect to be up. These fly cameras are just everywhere and just in the middle of nowhere. And of course, you know, at intersections and everything is Mr. Edwards.

[00:23:46] Oh, Feng Feng's not in his car though. Okay. All right. We're okay. You, you know, it's going to be psychotic. What the heck is going on? Ladies and gentlemen, it is psychotic. And Donald doesn't even know if he's Ford or not yet. Well, I mean, I wonder if, I guess he doesn't drive himself really though. Does he? The first time you see him being used to identify, you know, there was a big race riot at the Wisconsin state fair, you know, like black lives matter in Minnesota when they're burning down cities. Are we going to use them to stop stuff like that? Are you going to use them?

[00:24:20] I mean, they're, they're very difficult. There's no, there's no central headquarters for those people. So we don't really know what's going on with that. There's no accountability either. We'll get into that next segment. Ladies and gentlemen, I want to drill into this because what about accountability? Right? Act blue. No big deal. Fang Fang. No big deal. We'll talk about it. I'm Sam Bushman. James Edwards with me. The political successful.org. God save our constitutional republic.
