[00:00:04] Broadcasting live from atop the Rocky Mountains, the crossroads of the West. You are listening to the Liberty Roundtable Radio Talk Show.
[00:00:18] Public assassination, alarm bells ring, and inflation's out of control, not to mention Social Security's going up. That means we all pay more. And what, it's all about your golden years and your dreams? Happy to have you along, my fellow Americans. I'm Sam Bushman. Hard-hitting news the networks refuse to use, no doubt, starts now.
[00:00:41] All right, folks, we're going to have Heath Perkins up here in a little bit with the Honest Money Report, so we'll get to that as well in the second half hour of the show. Meantime, I've got some criticisms that are just, you know, I don't know how to respond to this. They're thinking about doing a public execution in the United States, folks. They're talking about a live broadcast of, how do you say this guy's name, Nadel, Nadel, Hassan?
[00:01:10] N-I-D-A-L, Nadel, Hassan? Anyway, they want to do a live broadcast of Nadel Hassan's execution. And so religious leaders on both sides of the aisle are now going, no. It just highlights our cultural and ethical decline. And you know what? I agree with that 100%. Why on earth would we want to watch the execution of someone? Oh, it's a morbid fascination, Sam. I know.
[00:01:39] That's what Rome used to love, right? Just violence and death and destruction. And that's Satan's plan, people. That's not what we believe in in America, where we believe the only king is Jesus, where we believe we have no kings but Jesus, where we believe that, you know, we look to God, our creator, for our rights, for our protection, for our blessings, for our security, for our liberty, for our safety.
[00:02:09] That's where we should be looking. And God says, thou shalt not kill. Now, I understand that capital punishment requires that. I understand. And I'm not here to debate each state's laws or the general government laws at this point on some of those issues. I'm pro-life. But I do believe there are times when if you take life, then the only way to, you know, cover that is to lose your life. I understand a lot of that. I understand societal realities on that.
[00:02:38] However, prominent evangelical and Catholic leaders are united in their criticism against the, quote, Pentagon's decision to live stream the firing squad execution of Fort Hood shooter, Nidal Hasan or Nidal Hasan. Now, I don't know why the Pentagon would even be considering this. I don't know if this is a Trump thing, but Trump kind of loves this blood and circus stuff.
[00:03:08] That's why we had kind of a White House brawl celebrating 250. It was a disgrace in my opinion. But when we have White House brawls and Pentagon public firing squad executions and the National Association of Evangelicals and the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops express concerns that this public spectacle
[00:03:34] trivializes justice and promotes a culture of death. So you basically, you know, you trivialize the gravity of justice and you promote a culture of death, undermining the dignity of human life. See, I agree with their statements here big time. These objections come amidst preparations for Hassan's execution, which have carried through, they say,
[00:04:03] will be the first public military execution in the United States since 1961. Religious figures, including those overseeing military pastoral care, are urging personnel to seek exemptions, highlighting profound moral and psychological repercussions. I couldn't agree more. Why on earth would we want to do this?
[00:04:32] Well, you say, Sam, that will deter people for sure. I don't think so. I don't think so at all. And the question is, will states follow the lead of the, quote, military? Is this just a military thing or what? What will this mean? I think it's a disaster. I think it's no good at all.
[00:05:01] You tell me what good can come from it. You can say, well, hey, it'll deter others from doing so. I don't think so. It'll deter normal people. What I mean by normal people, people that would never shoot anybody anyway, of course, it'll have them go, yeah, that's why you don't do that. But somebody that's deranged enough to literally shoot people, and I'm not talking defense. I'm talking about cold blood shoot people. They're not going to be changed by that.
[00:05:30] You think the person that really killed Charlie Kirk, and I don't believe it was who they claim it was, by the way. But you think that person is going to be detoured? No, they wanted to make a political score. Whether that was somebody outside of the country, which I believe, that sent a message. Don't cross us. That sent a message to Trump and everybody else through Charlie Kirk. You know, those people, they're not going to go, oh, there was a public execution. So, you know, look, third world countries do public executions.
[00:05:59] Third world countries love death and parade around their military might and stuff like that. That's kind of a North Korean communist Chinese move. I know it's a Trump move these days, but sad on him. We don't do that. In America, we should do different. Instead of a public execution of somebody, what we should do is public prayers. That no copycats follow this crazed individual. All right?
[00:06:28] Bipartisan leaders condemning this, and I support their points. The National Association of Evangelicals, Evangelicals, and then the Conference of Catholic Bishops, both expressing concerns that this public spectacle will do no good for society. And I couldn't agree more. Anyway, our prayers are with the families who suffer because of these deranged people that kill and murder and create mayhem. I believe what we need to do is take a step back
[00:06:56] and get a lot of these people off of the psychiatric drugs they're on. We need to take a step back and ask why aren't they taught religious principles that there is a God in heaven who loves them. They do have heavenly parents, and those heavenly parents care, even if their current earthly parents may or may not. And even if they've been rejected by people because they're awkward or their personalities, they can't get along in society, somebody needs to take a step back and say they need a friend.
[00:07:25] Are we doing our love, the Lord thy God, with all thy heart, might, mind, and strength? And are we loving our neighbor as ourselves? You know, some of these people have no one. Their parents are, you know, melted down, divorced, and on drugs or, you know, not involved in their lives. Then they try to, you know, have interaction with somebody of the opposite sex or whatever, and they get rejected. Then they want a friend, and they have no friends.
[00:07:52] They have no God, family, or country to turn to because we've all turned against them. They're awkward. They're weird. They're strange. We need to set that aside and say, art thou thou brother's keeper? And that's brothers and sisters, by the way, right? Art thou someone who should look after your neighbor? It doesn't say look after your neighbor unless he's weird, you know, unless he's just kind of awkward. You know, he scares me.
[00:08:19] Well, maybe he just needs, maybe she just needs a friend, someone that cares, someone that reaches out and says, you know what, you are a son or daughter of Almighty God, and I know you've got some problems, but we care about you. You're worth something. It can happen at school. It can happen at home. It can happen in a neighborhood. It can happen anywhere. You could go by and invite them somewhere. You could encourage them to volunteer somewhere. There's so many things we could do that could de,
[00:08:48] what's the word I want? Deescalate these things for some of these people. Why did that shooter go berserk? I don't know. Am I saying that shooter is safe in society? Am I defending that shooter? Of course not. But I'm saying is a public execution just going to increase violence in society? Or is it going to decrease violence in society? I submit to you that violence begats violence. And kind, love, patience, forgiveness, respect, dignity, honor,
[00:09:17] it begats those things. That's why you've got to follow the Prince of Peace. You think of one time in his life, 34 years, and his public ministry approximately three years, did he get crazy and rout those thugs out of the temple, the money changers, because they were violating his father's house. But he also had restraint and controlled himself. He was kind to the birds and to the animals. He didn't rage at the animals. So he had perfect self-control, right?
[00:09:48] But he's not violent. He didn't promote violence. People thought he was going to come as a, quote, violent political warrior. And it turned out that no. He said, you know what? Give Caesar what's Caesar's. I'm here on my father's errand. I'm here to set the stage and teach the people. Go look at the Beatitudes. Go look at his idea saying, I'm going to replace the Mosaic Law with the higher law. Look at the Ten Commandments. And then he went beyond and said, hey,
[00:10:18] turn the other cheek. Don't even lust after women. Honor thy father and thy mother. And do more. He taught a greater law. And then he invited us to follow him. See, that's what we stand for in America. So I reject public executions. I think we ought to show Congress praying. I think we ought to show the prayer vigils that go on during these situations and let people understand that we're a humble, God-fearing, God-family and country-style people.
[00:10:47] And we believe in the two great commandments and the Ten Commandments. And that's our guide. I'm Sam Bushman. Can a nation conceived in liberty carry its head high if it denies protection to the youngest and most vulnerable of its citizens? Can a country founded on God-given rights continue to thrive
[00:11:15] without understanding that life is a precious gift from our Creator? As a physician, I have looked into the eyes of one-pound babies. I have cradled their small bodies in the palm of one hand. I defy those who are careless, who would disregard life and look at these tiny little miracles and say, we're not going to protect that. But I believe there will come a time when we are all judged
[00:11:44] on whether or not we took a stand in defense of all life from the moment of conception until our last natural breath. One thing I promise you, I will always take a stand for life. Have you ever had great honey? No, I mean really good, all-natural, raw honey? Well, now you can, thanks to LocalHoneyMan.com. [00:12:40] I'm against public executions. I think they don't have any place in our society. I'm against fights on the White House lawn. You can say, oh, Sam, they're just sports. I know, but they're a very violent sport, ladies and gentlemen. Go look at Rome if you don't believe me. That's the road they went down, and it didn't go well. And the more we go down this road, the more bickering and bipartisan and factions we seem to have in America. It's not a good sign, folks, at all. The answer is Jesus Christ. The answer is to follow the Prince of Peace.
[00:13:11] The answer is to look at his life and for each one of us to make a personal quest to become like him, to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, to follow him. He says, learn of me and listen to my words. Amen. And that's what I hope that I do. And I'm not here to tell you that I'm a religious leader. I'm not here to tell you that I'm better than anybody else, that I've got it. I just know where to look for real solutions, and I know where to look for peace.
[00:13:40] And peace is found in following the Prince of Peace, keeping his commandments. That's where liberty and peace and protection comes from, folks. Think about it. The societies that don't believe in God, the godless societies, are the most tyrannical. And the societies that have true religion are the ones that have the greatest amount of peace, peace, prosperity, stability, safety, and liberty. You say, well, Sam, there's some religious societies that are pretty dictatorial.
[00:14:09] I know, but that's not true religion. Force is Satan's plan. That isn't God's plan. God gave us agency to choose as we will. When the man came to Jesus and said, hey, I keep all the commandments and do all these awesome things, but I'm rich, what do I do? And Jesus said, sell all your stuff and follow me. And the guy said, I just can't do that. But Jesus didn't force him. He let him go his way. And we don't know what happened to that gentleman, but we know this. Jesus Christ is not a man of force.
[00:14:39] Force comes from godlessness. Force comes from tyranny. Jesus Christ and the principles of liberty are virtually synonymous. That's why it's so critical to follow the Prince of Peace, folks. Anyway, there you have it. I testify Jesus Christ lives, and he is the way, the truth, and the life. Following him is the answer for a peaceful, moral, God-fearing, liberty-loving society. I'm telling you that right now. All right, next issue on the table that I find scary.
[00:15:05] Alarm bells ring as a proposed $1.54 trillion defense budget threatens to blow up our national debt crisis. You think the debt crisis is bad now? They've got a $1.54 trillion defense budget going on, but it's not really defense. It's war offense, folks, and that's the problem.
[00:15:31] In a shocking turn of events, the U.S. Congress is poised to approve a staggering $1.54 trillion defense budget. That's a 54% increase from the previous year, folks, and nearly doubling. Wow. Nearly doubling the 2024 budget for the military.
[00:15:57] Now, what's sad about this is Trump, when he got into office, right at the beginning, said we could half that and make it only a half a trillion. That was when it was about $700, $800 billion. Now, we're trying to go ahead and increase it.
[00:16:12] This soaring, out-of-control, crazy expenditure comes despite overwhelming national debt, passing over $40 trillion, not to mention this undeclared war with Iran. Again, critics argue this move contradicts pledges by Republican leaders to slash government spending, and they said that they would not even engage in these wars.
[00:16:42] Remember, Trump said, I'll get you out of the wars. Biden's got you in these quagmires. I'll get you out. We haven't seen any of it, right? Raising concerns about impacts on the economy and people's ability to fund and support themselves. Calls for action-incurred citizens to demand, I repeat, demand, I repeat one more time, demand accountability from their representatives. Yeah.
[00:17:12] Stretching the absolute vital imperative to prioritize fiscal restraint rather than funding the military-industrial complex. This is a critical story, folks. Wow. $1.54 trillion. If they do it, make them pay at the polls. This is where, in my opinion, Donald Trump is just stuck on stupid.
[00:17:38] He wants to just run around and tell you how great the economy is, how you're going to just, you know, run into the ditch if you elect Democrats. We're running into the ditch under Republicans, folks. Would it be worse under the Democrats? Probably so. You know, do you want to hit the ditch at 100 miles an hour or 50 miles an hour? I'd rather hit the ditch at 50, probably, because my chances of living would be greater. But I don't want to hit the ditch at all, see? And that's the problem that we're facing with President Trump.
[00:18:08] Rather than decreasing spending, they've increased it. They had Doge start out Trump's campaign. Doge got dismissed, sideline, and they've spent us into oblivion. Mike Johnson hasn't carried out President Trump's efforts at all, as far as I can see. Let's crank up tariffs, crank down the IRS. Let's get rid of the Federal Reserve so you'll never solve the $40 trillion debt that's going up at an alarming rate. Why fund the military-industrial complex? Do we think we're going to get peace through war?
[00:18:36] Oh, no, they call it peace through strength. Strength, folks, is like Jesus Christ when he went before Pontius Pilate and others. And they said, you know what I can do to you? I can take you down. I can kill you. I can. And they kind of hinted. And he just sat there and said nothing. Why did he sit there and say nothing? Because he knew that they weren't interested in what he had to say. They knew he was innocent. Well, we know that war isn't the solution. We know that you don't get peace through war.
[00:19:06] If you say peace through strength, well, the strength is to not sell military hardware around the world to despots. And professional thugs and criminals. And those who, okay, how is Iran getting all this weaponry? How is Iran? Well, the answer is Russia, China, North Korea. Plenty of bad actors that are supposed to be on our side are helping them with banking abilities and everything else.
[00:19:36] Weapons. Or they wouldn't have that. Right now we hear that Iran is escalating attacks on the Strait of Hormuz, making it worse. Well, Trump told us months ago that he decimated them and they wouldn't be able to do that anymore. But if that's true, how do they have so much power over the straits still? Because Trump lied. That's why. Either that or Trump thought he decimated them and he really hadn't. Don't know the truth. Love to have Donald on the program to discuss it. But he only goes on liberal talk shows, right?
[00:20:05] He won't talk to somebody like me that wants real accountability and action. No, no, no. He's chicken to do that. He's afraid to do that. Donald Trump only will talk to those who will pass him softballs. And then he criticizes them until the cows come home. He calls us, the conservative folks, just the conservative echo chamber. He mirrors the mainstream press that we don't count. That's where he's wrong. He should have backed his initiative, which was whitehouse.gov slash new media.
[00:20:36] That was an opportunity, but he didn't do it. Sad enough. Hi, Eldon Stahl. Welcome to the show, sir. Eldon Stahl, everybody. Well-known leader for the John Birch Society, JBS.org. He's the coordinator on the ground, helping people become members and learn about JBS. And thenewamerican.com, one of the greatest magazines that continues today ever written, telling the truth everywhere they go. Hi, Eldon. Hey, Sam. Great to be here. So two quick stories I want to get your take on.
[00:21:05] The first story is they're talking about a public execution. Bipartisan religious leaders are condemning this public execution of this military guy, Nydell Hassan. And the Pentagon wants to do this. I reject it. I'm against public executions, sir. We're going toward the way of Rome, sir. Yeah, I don't think that's a wise thing to do.
[00:21:31] Historically, public executions have been used to intimidate people against anything that the state, the government doesn't want people to do. Now, obviously, this fellow has done some heinous crime. However, you know, you look at what Rome did.
[00:21:56] They basically got to the point where they're entertaining people by watching other people die. And, of course, that degrades humanity in many ways when you invite people to do that.
[00:22:11] And then, of course, it makes people more susceptible or, you might say, less sensitive to just the very act of human suffering and sorting out whether, you know, whether somebody should, whether we should go to war or whatever it might be.
[00:22:35] So, it does cheapen life even though, you know, he was a bad guy. But I'm not against the death penalty per se. I know some people are. But, you know, that's kind of another story. Well, there you have it. So, I'm against that. I'm against White House brawls on the front lawn. I know you say it's just fun and great sport, but it's very violent. Indeed, that's a problem.
[00:23:05] Now, they're also contemplating in Congress a $1.54 trillion military industrial complex. They're calling it a defense spending bill. But it's absolutely going on the offense. And I reject that too. Trump, when he started, said we could chop the almost trillion dollar budget in half to about a half a trillion. But now they're basically figuring on doubling it from 2024 and a 53% or whatever you want to call it increase since even last year alone.
[00:23:30] They're just going hog wild on the military industrial complex when, in fact, the reality is we're already $40 trillion in debt and we see no end in sight. Eldon Stahl. Yeah, Trump never really has been a great leader on reducing spending, although it was for a time there was a glimmer of hope, at least. But, you know, people certainly freak out about how it was the end of the world.
[00:24:00] Well, our prayers are to turn to the Prince of Peace, sir. Our effort is to stand by peaceful solutions. If you want violence, violence begats violence, ladies and gentlemen. Kind, patient leadership begats kind, patient leadership. That's what we advocate for. All right, I'm Sam Bushman. He's Eldon Stahl. TheNewAmerican.com. Check out that incredible magazine.
