Recently, I heard an interview in which the talk show host asked the question, why do you think black people should be more intentional in the effort to support black Americans, especially black business owners? Hello, I'm Ron Edwards. On today's Face from the Edwards Notebook, ironically, that question about supporting other people of the same ethnicity is not asked to any other ethnic group. In the Asian community, the dollar circulates 24 times before it goes to someone else. In the Jewish community, the dollar circulates 17 times before it circulates out of that community. In the Latino community, money circulates 12 times. In the white American community, the dollar circulates 9 times. In the black American community, the dollar circulates just 30 minutes before their money is given to other communities. Upon learning this perilous truth, it occurred to me that Perhaps if the black American community would rediscover the opportunity of entrepreneurship and small business ownership and develop the strong business mindset, which was prevalent in the 1950s when over 30% of black Americans owned small businesses and the black community was literally on an outwardly mobile track.
