And now your radio refreshment, Ron Edwards. Well, good day, Hello, wait and how are you. I'm Ron Edwards and you are listening to the Ron Edwards American Experienced Talk Show. It's great to be with you this day. A big thunderstorm is happening right now in my neck of the woods, but it's okay. Anyway, coming up just a bit after the first break, we're gonna have a great guest. Today's name is Harry Veriser, very smart fellow. You wrote a great book called it Didn't Have to Be this Way? Why boom and bust is necessary? And how the Austrian school of economics breaks the cycle. And so we'll be getting in conversation with him. But I want to talk about something that I believe is very very important on the global scale. Starting things off, when you look at the war, actually it's a conflict between Russia and Ukraine. You know, since that broke out, since Putin first invaded Ukraine, I've been primarily on the side of mister Putin, because I looked at the principles involved. I looked at the situation as who started it all, which was NATO with the backing of the United States government, and even Trump realized that, and some other people as well, like Tucker Carlson and a few others. But it seems that mister Putin has overplayed his hand in recent days. He's been talking real nice in private conversations with people like President Trump and then turning around and blasting away. And because of the general nature of people and how most people have been viewing the conflict, even though I think most of them have been incorrect in their assessment, he played right into their hands by continuing to go bombs away on Ukraine after telling Trump, for example, that he was going to stop for a ceasefire. And so now things have reversed, and Trump, against my best wishes, is now aiding mister Zelensky. And because I've been very concerned about us being involved. And you know, I always talk about how the founding father said, hey, don't get involved in those other entanglements. But in this situation, I hate to sound like a flip flopper here, but at least the way Trump is doing it is not as bad as it could be. And I'll explain. First of all, mister Trump is making sure that the European Union or NATO or whomever pays for the equipment that we're sending it, and so we're producing it. They're paying for it at a premium price, by the way, and so they're turning around and selling it to Ukraine. And so the genius part about this is that Putin can't just look at the United States and say you would it involved without looking at all of the major nations of Europe. Well, they too are involved. So it's a great number of a good number of nations that are involved in this situation. And Putin brought this downe upon himself and what you talk about five level chess here, And I mean, Trump really threaded the needle on this situation. Ideally, I still would have said, don't get involved at all, just continue to build up our military and you know, let things happen the way they're going to happen. But the way that he got it involved, we're not directly involved other than selling equipment to another nation that pays for what we're giving them. And that enables us to continue producing what we need for our own protection. So it's not like when Uncle Joe was giving, just giving our moments away and there was no replacement. And since Trump has been in office, they've been cranking out all these patriot missiles and things of that nature. So it's a better situation in my humble opinion. It's still not great, but at least it's done with intelligence, and it just doesn't put us out there by ourselves, and Putin can't come after us without coming after the rest of the other major European nations. But I still wish, you know, overall, that the United States had stayed out of it. I'm not going to change that. But at least the way Trump did it, it shows intelligence. It shows that he was really thinking about the city situation. Now now President Trump is, you know, his popularity is falling like a rock, not because of the Ukraine situation, but because you know, it keeps sticking up with this Jeffrey Epstein hoax situation. He's just calling it a big hoax, no big list, keep walking. And he says, right here, quote, my past supporters have bought into this bull capitalists with a hit hook line and sinker. I don't want their support anymore. Mister Trump, that's not wise. That now, that's stupid. Okay, in that statement, he's being a stupid person. And the reason why is because I understand why in a situation, in a way, he doesn't have to care because you know, he's not running for office anymore after this. However, if he he's not popular, guess what's going to happen come next year in the midterms. You know how American people are. They won't focus on the principles and look at the candidates. They'll either stay home and not vote. I'm talking about the Conservatives, the MAGA people, or vote in another direction, maybe at Elon Musk's third party or whatever, which would not hurt Trump at all, because you know, he'll just continue his term and then walk away after it's over. But I don't think it's wise for him to, you know, react this way towards the American people who have been his supporters, who have prayed for him by the millions. And even if it is a hoax, if it is a hoax, let us see that it's a hoax. Let everything come out. Tell miss Bondy, Okay, let us see the hoax. Somebody's afraid of something or somebody, as I call it, the unseen hand, the puppet masters, the cabal are controlling something. It's either it's one or two things. They're either controlling things or there's nothing there. Either way, we should know. We, the American people, are the ones who where the straw that stirs the drink. It's about we the people. Now, Tom Massey and Marjorie Taylor Green have introduced discharged petition to force a vote on releasing the full Epstein files. Now there's no file, if there's no list, why is it that Tom Massey and Marjorie Taylor Green are introducing discharge petitions to force at least a vote on releasing the full Epstein files. I mean, if there's no files to release, why in sam Hill would they be doing this? Well, I think because there is a list. I think there are files, and if there is no file, let that be let that be brought forth too. But let there be evidence that there's no files. I mean, we just can't be strung along here and just all this talk talk, talk talk talk. It was by him, President Trump, Cash, Betel, Dan Bongino, and Pan Bondi they were all saying, when we get in there, we're gonna bring it out. And then after they get in, okay, it's on my desk, I'm gonna reveal it. It's on my dad and then all of a sudden, there's nothing there. Oh so, how are we wrong for being upset? According to Trump, We're wrong for being upset, And because people are upset, he's calling them former or past supporters. Man oh man, mister Trump, I'm still a supporter, but I mean you're you're you're This isn't wise, sir. His name is Harry's Verisa, and mister Verisi has served as director of the Graduate Program in Economics at the University of Detroit Mercy and Chairman of Walsh College's Department of Economics and Finance. He's also a businessman who owned an automotive supply company for many years. Verisa is an Associate scholar of the Ludwig von Mises Institute and serves on the advisory boards of the Macanas Center for Public Policy and the Active Institute for the Study of Religion and Liberty. In two thousand and three, he was one of ten professors in the United States selected to receive the will Herbert Award for the Outstanding Faculty Service from the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, and he now resides in Michigan. Hello, mister Veriser, and welcome to the Ron Edwards American Experience. Ron, thanks so much for having me. I'm really honored to be on your program. And I've heard the other things you were coming on and it sounds like a program I really could endorse. So thanks so much for having me. Oh, thank you, boy. An endorsement for you. What really do wonders? And you did wonder sir with this book. It didn't have to be this way, Why boom and bust is unnecessary? And how the Austrian School of economics breaks the cycle. I've always been a fan of the Austrian School of economics, and man, you really spell it out the principles. These are principles that will never go away. And tell us what inspired you to write the book? And man, how long it took to put it together? Because it's so it's so packed with great information. I mean, my goodness, it's like a it's it's like a I don't know, a printed out classroom, but it's it's great stuff. Yes, well, it really goes back. I would say sixty years it took me to write it, because I'm drawing on a number of wonderful teachers during my time. I would say that the education I got in when I went to Catholic school was second to none, really second to none. I have some some folks who uh nons lay people and others who were excellent. We did a lot of history, and then at I had one teacher he was sell who really started opening my ass to history, mister Kwaki, and then mister Schnaubelt who taught us the Constitution. And you know when I teach today, teach the Constitution, I can still remember back to it Edge Snowbelt, how he taught us the American Constitution in the seventh grade. So I had a real long history of that, and then of course the Great Depression was a big thing when my when I was a boy. I think I mentioned in my book, you know, the men we get on the porch, uh, we have the typical family things, the confirmation, first communions, baptisms, we had Christmas or whatever. Well, I always remember the summertime and my grandmother had a little bit of a porch we'ld sit on, and my aunt Margaret did, and of course the men would all talk about the Great Depression, and I wanted to know when we use our house. You know, as an eighth grader, I thought as they talked about what happened, we got very worried about it. And that attracted me the economics, and I had a wonderful mentor at university. He tried doctor Hoffman and he opened the door and then I came into contact with the Austrian School through him. And it took me a while. It really took me a while to put this thing together. What caused the Great Depression? And it was it was, you say, a perfect storm, because there were a number of factors. And in my book I went through it, and I will say actually teaching it during the years and I'm still learning more and more about that. Let me ask you. Let me ask you a quick question. You know, quite often if I tell people, and I've said this many times through the years, that Franklin D. Roosevelt's actions extended the length of the Great Depression from possibly what would have been a four year ordeal to a decade, and they look at me side I like I'm crazy for saying that. But am I off base or what? No? I think you know, Roosevelt took over in thirty three, he had both houses by overwhelming numbers, and he should have repealed immediately the of the smooth howly tariff, which was one of the problems, and should not have taken the United States or off the gold stand there to raise the price of gold. He could have done that. His Secretary of the Treasury wanted him to do that and had negotiated, but Roosevelt decided to rather than leave the market to get the obstacles all the way, which which really was the obstacles that caused it, including the residue or the background radiation who want to call that for World War One? And what happened was is that he kept a lot of mistakes at hoober I mean Roosevelt administration was essentially an extension of the Hoobert administration. Now Hoover in thirty three repented and tried to at least I would say, with the London Economic Conference who were set it up. But he was not. He was not in power then. But Roosevelt decided to go with a very heavy interventionist platform, and by nineteen thirty six thirty seven we had a few times of prosperity, but a few years, but for the most part we were right back into it. By nineteen thirty seven thirty eight. Now we'll started pulling us out. I think was a demand for war material, but it was never solved. And his Secretary of the Treasury, who was also very active, I said, well, we did all this, nothing happened, and I had to quote from him. So it was not a success at all. It really took the meetings, the Breton Woods Agreement, which has its own problems. But after World War Two they decided, hey, wait a minute, we made a lot of mistakes, and the Breton Woods Agreement did get rid of the smooth holly problem, had much for your trade, opened that up and stabilized the dollar. Stabilized the currencies. Not well, are problems with it, but it did it that provide it Excuse me for the prosperity that went on, say from nineteen fifty even to today. A good deal of our prosperity is due to that agreement. Yeah, isn't a lot of our prosperity also due to the dollar being artificially propped up because we're not on a goal system. We are being controlled by the Federal Reserve System, which is an international governing body of our economics, which should be abolished. Many have well several have spoken out against the Federal Reserve system and some were put into premature dirt sleep as a result of that. So how do we wreck that, I mean, rectify that evil. Well, here's the problem is that in nineteen seventy one the disaster started coming back. Now what happened was the dollar became a reserve currency. Well, when you have a reserve currency, everybody wants it, so the dollar would be high. Well, if you have a high dollar, in other words, what's going to happen is you're going to be able to buy all kinds of things on the world markets. But because the dollar is so expensive, American goods will not be competitive. Well, what that meant was is that with a strong dollar, people could ship things in here at very low prices because they needed the dollars, and the dollar. Of the. We were able to buy things from other countries, and we really ruined our own industry because our own industry became uncompetitive because how could people buy things in the United States by our exports. The dollar was so strong, but we could buy everybody else's stuff because their currencies were so weak. So all of a sudden, Chinese, German, other industries could out compete us in our own markets, and that led to Serian seventy one, the de industrialization of America. Didn't that also? Wasn't that also exacerbated by these trade agreements that kept that going? Yeah, I mean the trade agreements were not as dangerous as the currency problem. The currency problem is still with us today, and it's not good for a country in the long run to have a reserve currency because it's non neutral. Now, gold is neutral. The gold standard is neutral because you can't print money and you can't artificial manipulate your currency. So when Nixon went off gold, that's when the danger started and the statistics are now showing and I have I've just put together a lecture series on the gold standard of what happened. But all of a sudden, now people who got the money first, I mean, you start printing money, people get the money first are going to be terribly advantaged. So we had what happened was is that the wealth inness country has shifted so that what ten percent on most of the country, that's number one. A lot of industries, a lot of people cannot get jobs that they enable them for one paycheck to support a household. No, Robin, you take a look at the statistics and I'll see maybe I can send you my work on this, although I've adopted it from a lot of other people, so it's not exactly I can't exactly take super credit for it, but I can show you even the Federal Reserve and the Brand Institute has shown that there's been something like a trillion dollars a year of well transferred from the people who are not say at the Laura under the income scale, the people at the top. Harry right there, right there, folks were heading to a heartbreak. And we'll be right back with our guests. Harry Verisa right after. This American experience. Kennedy shared an inspirational nineteen sixty one inaugural address Heloi Ron Edwards on today's page from the Aborgin Notebook. Kennedy stated, and I quote, the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage, and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed. In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it, and the glow from that fire can only light the world. And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country. Thanks so much for tuning in from throughout America and around the world. Today. Our guest is Harry Buriser. He wrote the wonderful book It Didn't have to be this way, Why boom and Bust is unnecessary, and how the Austrian School of Economics breaks the cycle. Mister Veriser, you know I think I told you this in an earlier conversation that my favorite chapter in the book was chapter four, The Age of Classical Liberalism. And when you think of liberalism today, you think of all the garbage, the intellectual garbage that is being spewed about. But I love how you fully explain classic liberalism that spawned the growth of America with faith in God as well, and how liberalism in Europe which debunked or did away with the concept of God via the French Revolution, which you pointed out, how they turned out in a negative in a more negative position. And I love how you pointed that out. If you could delve into that a bit for us. Sure, I think what happened was is that the French Revolution, it was it was like a volcano, a lot of which was just below the surface way to break out. And the intellectual class, you know, had gradually gotten further and further away from the Christian faith. And you know, at one time universities were actually founded to train clergy. And as soon as folks started moving away, it started to move the intellectual well springs away from Christianity and it started leading It's almost you could almost trace it step by step process to the secularism that we're seeing, especially in Europe today. I mean Europe. I think the number of people who attend churches any place in Europe is relatively low. They when you get away from the idea and the well springs of Christianity, the ordered universe it's really insane. John's Gospel at the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God. This was the order of the universe. And these folks came along and they really had a disordered effect that all of a sudden there was an attack on the family from the European intellectuals. There was an attack on private property from the European intellectuals. Okay, there was an attack on religion and atheism that came about, and of course attack on any kind of hierarchy. And you can see that today. These four things are they said, the building blocks, if you can call the building blocks of the current intellectual problems that we're having a lot of us came right from European intellectuals that came here and put this stuff out. You know what I have they Yeah, I equate this with wisdom taking wing and flying back to the Father. And I've said that many times and many times in commentary, and it's like they cast off God's wisdom, and societies have gone awry ever since, especially when it comes to liberalism. Been here in the United States today and it's funny though, well it's funny but not funny at the same time. How they cast away the Christian faith and are now being taken over by the Islamic faith, especially in England, France, and it's creeping into our neck of the woods too, and it's getting a strong foothold, as you know here in good old Michigan. Yes, it is. And of course a lot of this is coming from immigrants who are coming in to the United States. You know, I don't think there's a prisoners are some kind of a conversion going on, but I don't think there's a movement at least from what I can see, towards Americans converted to Islam. It's more of the people moving here. They're bringing Islam with them. But Islam is and it's ultimate foundations have some real problems between Christianity, the whole concept of God, you know, being we're seeing a God in love, a God is a community really father south of the Holy Ghost, that's entirely different than the God of Islam. Speak different. Well, speaking of the God of Islam, there is a growing movement here in America. And I was looking at a video last evening by one of the Big A Moms, and they said, now, to take over America, it'll be very easy because Americans are so liberal and they're allowing so many Muslims in, and Muslims are taking over, not with the bullet but through the ballot box. Look at New York City and look at Dearbornistan and elsewhere. So it is it is like a creeping And before before we get any further, tell folks how they can get your book. I want to make sure. Wheeling a few minutes. Well, I would say it's available through what is it the bookseller? Amazon? It's available through Amazon. At one time I put it out, but they sold that the rights to Regnary Company. But if you go on Amazon, you can get the book. There's plenty of them out there, and I'm hoping I'm going to convince the Kirk Center to reprint it and they get some more out. There's a lot i'd like to add that's happened since that book was printed, and so I'm working on that with perhaps at the Russell Kirk Center to do that. But it is available, it's available. I would just say go to Amazon, just type in my name. Very few vverisors have written books, so it'll come up for you. And it's Harry C. Br. It didn't have to be this way, why boom and bust is unnecessary, and how the Austrian school of economics breaks the cycle. And folks, you can find that on Amazon, and I suggest you do. You do get this book, folks. It's very pertinent for today. But as we were, go ahead. Go ahead, Whenever Christianity decays, you're going to have Islam come in. And the problem now is the relativism has been promoted, has been so rampant that every name nothing is true. Well as Lom comes along and says, oh, yeah, well there is something true. So since when you're where you you're you're out there and you're you have no in this essence defense, no philosophical defense, then they're going to be able to uh to win, and they're going to be able will spread the gospel of Islam. Now, the Gospel of His Law has some real civilizational problems with it because they emphasize the will of God, not the wisdom of God. And so the will of God, well, if he wants to change two and two is four, he can make two and two three. I mean, when you have a deity that can change the nature and will is all will, all of a sudden, you have lost the wisdom and Christianity has always stood for the wisdom of God. I mean you know, right from the Gospel of John and the Epistles of Paul. Always we emphasize the wisdom of God. Uh, and of course the love of God and so uh. When you when you delete those things, then you're all of a sudden you're in a philosophical laundry and you can't defend yourself. You're given up your two premises. Well, speaking of premises, what do you agree with the founding fathers that it was out of Christianity, of faith in God and his word that came the concept of true liberty based upon individual rights or unaimable rights. Absolutely, not license, but liberty. And it was really saying that we have the liberty to make choices and to fulfill our nature. Well, obviously it's like a tree. You plant the well, we'll send the acorn in two hundred years. Aget this beautiful tree. If everything's there, Well, if you have people are willing and looking at what they should do to fulfill their nature, well you're going to get the same thing. And what we have now is well you have when you want, so you can take drugs, you know you don't have to regulate your sexual life to the family. All of a sudden, now you you substituted chaos for order. Yes, and the sense Now there's lomb it's a little bit like that because it does have some structures. I mean, they do believe in a modesty about that. But when you have something that can change or a deity that can change their minds, well, all of a sudden, now all bets are off. I hate to say this, but we're out of time, and I want to thank you for joining us. Make sure you're back again new mainstream media. That's just the way. That's the best offense is a great defense. I agree, it doesn't get any better than this. I'm Ron Edward saying you are listening to the round average American experience. And thanks to our guest today Harry Veriser, who authored the wonderful book it Didn't have to be this way? Why boom and bust is unnecessary? And how the Austrian school of economics breaks the cycle. Well, when it comes to I guess operating in our republic which has turned into a mobocracy for the most part, we see that there are five of the ten amendments of the Bill of Rights. They are called the due Process Amendment. And what is this due process? My friends? Why is it so important to protecting our rights which do come from God? There has been a lot of talk in due process lately, but little it seems to be informed by proof or evidence. Five of the ten amendments of the Bill of Rights are called the Due Process Amendments, with a little bit of research, we can not only be sure of what due process is, but how the Constitution protects our rights to it. And it is very important that we learn these things, that we have these things fully ensconced in our brains, because as you will see in the days ahead, there will be increasing numbers of individuals and institutions and whatever that are going to be continuing to come against our rights. And you know, one of the founding fathers famously said that if you don't know your rights, you don't have any. And we all know that the Bill of Rights was created to protect our rights. Since half of the amendments are known as the Due Process Amendments. And if I'm going to talk about the Due Process Amendments, I guess we can begin by making sure that we know what due process is. Free from the legal dictionary we read together, let us say this together. In the dictionary, it does say, though an established course for judicial proceedings or other government activities designed to safeguard the legal right of the individual, and due process is the protection of your legal and individual rights. With that in mind, you go further into it. The Fourth Amendment, while often described as protecting your right to privacy, or is the British like to say privacy. That word does not exist in the Fourth Amendment, because the Fourth Amendment is about so much more than just privacy. The right of the people to be secure in their persons, their houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures like they did to President Trump when they went to mar A Lago, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched and the persons or things to be seized. Now, also in Amendment four, privacy is defined by not being observed. From Webster's nine eighteen twenty eight dictionary, privacy is a place of seclusion from company or observation. However, the Fourth Amendment starts with protecting you your home and your staff, and make sure that you are not unreasonably searched or seized from making sure that you are free from danger of being taken by an enemy. And how many enemies has the government allowed into our republic? How many millions? And now we have to be concerned about the many millions of enemies that have been allowed into our republic. And then you have the enemies in government that has been have been coming after us. The word secure in Webster's eighteen twenty eight dictionary. The one question we really need to answer, then, is what is reasonable? Having the faculty of reason endued with reason reasonable. And you know I was taught not to use a word in its own definition. Well, I've heard a lot of people describe it in many different ways. Based on the rest of the Amendment, we can all sum up reasonable as having a good reason to do something. I think that's simple enough. Right. Now, here's an example. What makes a search or seizure reasonable? Was it reasonable when they went after President Trump or former president at the time, the way they went into his wife's drawer, into his son's bedroom. And now, according to the Fourth Amendment, having a valid warrant makes it reasonable? Why? Because in order to get a valid warrant you have to have probable cause supported by oath or affirmation. That sounds like a good reason to me. Having evidence that shows that something has probably happened, and not just your word, but the oath or affirmation of someone who knows. This is very important because lying under oath or affirmation is a crime that seems pretty reasonable to me. But there's a little bit more. You see, the warrant has to be specific about where someone can search ah and who or what can be seized. These requirements protect more than your right to privacy or privacy, but your legal right to security. Now, how many people were un lawfully searched and then seized amongst the j sixers when people would come when you know bootjacked. You know, these thugs from government would come in the middle of the night, four o'clock in the morning, and not only did they grab the person they were after, they would ransack many of their homes, not telling people what they were looking for, just making a mess of things, I guess for the fun of it. And we're all familiar with pleading the fifth, but there's so much more to this amendment. No person shall be held to answer for a capital or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia when in actual service, in time of war or public danger. Nor shall any person be subject, for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb or shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law, Nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation. In recent years, we've seen this happening though, people under the threat of losing their land, their farms, et cetera, just because black robes gone wild, politically motivated wanted to take stuff away from the j sixers now Amendment five. This amendment starts with what happens when you are accused of a serious crime. The government cannot simply charge you with a capital or infamous crime or a felony. Only a grand jury made up of citizens can actually charge you. The only exceptions are for military forces, including the militia when in actual service. That's because they are subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Also, you cannot be charged twice for the same offense, although I've seen that happen in recent years. Of course, courts play for fast and loose with this today, claiming that both the federal and state governments can charge you with the same offense. They did that with President Trump, They've done that with others whom they don't like, especially if you're not a globalist. Then there's your right to not be forced to self witness. Notice, unlike what you see on TV. It's not a right against self incrimination, but against self witness. It doesn't matter if it's incriminating or not. You cannot be forced to witness against yourself. Again, the courts have taken this further with your right to remain silent, and let us not forget an important clause, your right to not be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law. But how many have been so treated in recent years. Again, if you don't know your rights, you don't have any. And that is why for years I have been stating about how important it is. After the Bible, it is very important that we the people understand our Bill of rights. Now one of the other things that I know, we're almost out of time, but the Fifth Amendment is also known for its imminent domain, this protection that says the government cannot take your property unless it is for public use, in which case they must give you just compensation. And we in days coming up, we're going to go through more of the amendments because I just think it is drastically important that we the people together understand fully our Bill of rights, because I'll say it again, if you don't know your rights, you don't have any, and that's what the leftist and government depend upon you being ignorant of the law. Anyway, my friends, thank you so much for joining me this day, and now that I see that my time is of Thank you so much for your time, and remember to pray for your nation, Pray for your friends, your family, and even your enemies that they get it right before it's too late.
