[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_18]: We've got a fantastic show line.
[00:01:45] [SPEAKER_18]: Well, I think so anyway, but another strange topic is last time I guest host this programme.
[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_18]: I did bring a nice topic and hey, this one's no different.
[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_18]: Do you know what?
[00:01:58] [SPEAKER_18]: I think this one could be a little bit offensive, which is so unlike me.
[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_18]: But anyway, it's about, well, it's about giving, it's about tithing, it's about giving your finances, your well-earned cash to your church.
[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_18]: And you know, some people have an issue with that, with tithing and so on.
[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_18]: I've got my own personal views on that, which I will share a little bit later on.
[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_18]: But that's going to be the topic and we're going to bring Caff in to that a little bit later on.
[00:02:32] [SPEAKER_18]: But as ever, I'm saying as ever, it's only my second time today, could be my last as well, to host this show.
[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_18]: But anyway, I'd like to read, as it's Faith Day, the Bible to you.
[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_18]: Oh yeah, the Bible. And I'm going to paraphrase a wonderful story for you.
[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_18]: And it's a story which both Mark and Luke give an account.
[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_18]: So let us just, let's just get on with it.
[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_18]: They tell us of a lady that Jesus encountered at the temple courts.
[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_18]: Jesus sat down in the outer courtyard between the court of the Gentiles and the court of the women.
[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_18]: I imagine he was feeling very frustrated, very, very tired,
[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_18]: because this happened just after a very heated debate with the religious leaders of his day.
[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_18]: And he actually came here, if we're reading to scripture, he actually came to rest.
[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_18]: He was sitting opposite the place where the offerings were given.
[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_18]: So the walls of the courtyard, they were lined with these receptacles
[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_18]: and they were there to receive the offerings of the people.
[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_18]: Now there was 13 trumpet-looking chests, if you will.
[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_18]: And they were labeled for a specific purpose for which the money that went in was to be given.
[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_18]: So there would have been some for the poor, some for temple sacrifices, etc., etc., etc.
[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_18]: Now this giving, it was completely voluntary, recognizing God's ownership and the stewardship to give.
[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_18]: So I like to paint pictures in my mind when I read scripture.
[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_18]: And here's a picture I've got so far.
[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_18]: I've got Jesus has just sat down, he's watching what's going on.
[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_18]: He's people watching.
[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_18]: He's observing the crowd, he's observing the people putting money into the treasury.
[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_18]: Now in the world's eyes, I imagine this was rather impressive.
[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_18]: You know that the kind that gets you a plaque on the wall with your name on it or something.
[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_18]: But anyway, a poor person came along, a widow as it turns out.
[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_18]: Now I imagine she barely had enough money to make ends meet.
[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_18]: Because of course back then and still in some countries there's no government program,
[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_18]: no social ministry to help, employment rarely existed to make some quick cash.
[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_18]: I think it's for her to say, not an offensive phrase, she was destitute.
[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_18]: Now let's just stop and paint a picture for a moment.
[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_18]: Let's suppose an elderly lady, an elderly woman whatever, whose husband died a few years ago comes to you
[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_18]: and says, I need a bit of advice.
[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_18]: She says, I'm down to my last 20 to 30 dollars.
[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_18]: I've got no money. The cupboards are bare.
[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_18]: Now there's 20 to 30 dollars if all I've got to live on.
[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_18]: Yeah, I feel as if God wants me to put them into the offering.
[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_18]: What do you think? What would you tell her?
[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_18]: Maybe you'd say, well that's very kind but you know what?
[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_18]: God knows your heart and he wants you to keep that to buy food.
[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_18]: Keep your 30 dollars and buy food.
[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_18]: So let's just go back to the temple.
[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_18]: This woman, all she had two copper coins combined them up with a few cents.
[00:06:13] [SPEAKER_18]: I don't know.
[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_18]: You see in our day we walk over pennies on the ground thinking they're not worth the effort to pick up
[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_18]: but this woman, she gives all she had.
[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_18]: She probably went hungry that night because of a gift.
[00:06:29] [SPEAKER_18]: Now was it right that I said to this elderly lady, we were talking about
[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_18]: the poor widow's offering to give her last 30 dollars.
[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_18]: Jesus did not question the poor widow's actions.
[00:06:43] [SPEAKER_18]: He called his disciples together because this was a teachable moment
[00:06:48] [SPEAKER_18]: and he said, I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.
[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_18]: They all gave out of their wealth but she out of poverty
[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_18]: but in everything all she had to live on.
[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_18]: Jesus's statement teaches us that God's idea of money
[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_18]: in comparison to ours is very much different.
[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_18]: The rich are given out of their abundance.
[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_18]: The poor widow gave all she had.
[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_18]: The rich had made a contribution, a large one.
[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_18]: The poor woman, she'd made a big sacrifice.
[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_18]: Because of that he gave greater respect and honour to the widow
[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_18]: who gave better little by earthly standards than the high and mighty people who gave large sums.
[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_18]: Never ever devalue your gift however small.
[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_18]: Remember in Jesus's eyes generosity is not determined by the size of the gift
[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_18]: but of the size of the sacrifice.
[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_18]: There's quite a few things we can pull from that passage.
[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_18]: Firstly I'd like to think this, when Jesus watches what we do
[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_18]: isn't it interested that he's watching this woman?
[00:08:13] [SPEAKER_18]: Jesus watch the crowd.
[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_18]: We'll read that in Mark 1241.
[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_18]: The word watch, well what does it mean? Let's have a quick look.
[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_18]: It means to look with a discerning eye.
[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_18]: A discerning eye, not a glimpse.
[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_18]: Just a quick look at the discerning eye.
[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_18]: Jesus was watching. Think about that for a minute.
[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_18]: Jesus sees everything we do.
[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_18]: And you know what? Sometimes we can fool people
[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_18]: but we can never ever fool Jesus.
[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_18]: Secondly let's look at this other statement
[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_18]: what we observe from reading the passage.
[00:08:51] [SPEAKER_18]: Jesus knows the amount.
[00:08:53] [SPEAKER_18]: He knew exactly how much the rich were given
[00:08:56] [SPEAKER_18]: and how much the lady was going.
[00:08:59] [SPEAKER_18]: He knew the rich gave out of abundance.
[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_18]: Money they didn't actually need, it was leftovers.
[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_18]: Yet the widow she gave out of poverty.
[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_18]: She made a sacrifice to God.
[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_18]: Thirdly let's have a look at this.
[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_18]: Jesus well he clearly respected the widow more.
[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_18]: He called his disciples together and he told them what he witnessed.
[00:09:24] [SPEAKER_18]: And I'd like to think he was saying
[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_18]: hey see what she did?
[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_18]: That's what I want you to do. That's how I want you to live.
[00:09:33] [SPEAKER_18]: That's what I want you to do. Give.
[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_18]: He raised her up as an example to follow.
[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_18]: Hey, her story even made it into the Bible.
[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_18]: So what's this lesson?
[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_18]: Leave a legacy not just an inheritance from your will.
[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_18]: Give while she's alive. Be a blessing.
[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_18]: You can't take your riches to heaven with you.
[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_18]: There are so many scriptures we can look at.
[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_18]: So, so many.
[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_18]: And we're going to discuss some of these scriptures.
[00:10:04] [SPEAKER_18]: In a short time with my sister, Kath, I would guest here.

[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_18]: wonderful story from the Bible we've had a bit of scripture and you know what
[00:14:01] [SPEAKER_18]: yeah the topic really is is giving it is about you know I mean I'm just gonna
[00:14:09] [SPEAKER_18]: cut to the chase right this church is a right the sat on millions of
[00:14:14] [SPEAKER_18]: millions and millions and millions and millions of dollars right the sat on
[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_18]: it now as far as I'm concerned I thought tithing which literally is 10% of
[00:14:26] [SPEAKER_18]: whatever yeah 10% of what your time 10% of I mean back in scriptural days by a
[00:14:35] [SPEAKER_18]: 10% of your cattle yeah 10% of your finances of course if you've got it
[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_18]: you know it goes it sort of goes against the grain now to think that tithing
[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_18]: is anything but 10% of your money now I don't want to cause any trouble with
[00:14:59] [SPEAKER_18]: anybody you know I mean I put as I know you do calf a huge amount of time into
[00:15:07] [SPEAKER_18]: your church you know and some of that is even done at home in preparation I mean
[00:15:14] [SPEAKER_18]: you used to run toddler groups in churches and not you don't just turn
[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_18]: up and get on with it definitely not there's a huge amount of planning it
[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_18]: goes on you know and you think I mean personally and I'm not out to get a
[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_18]: meddle pinned on me or I'm not to get a poster made on a plaque on my door
[00:15:35] [SPEAKER_18]: or anything like that if I were to weigh up a much time I put into
[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_18]: ministerial work well I'm not even convinced there's enough hours in the
[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_18]: day to be fair but I think it's a marvelous topic because I like to talk
[00:15:53] [SPEAKER_18]: about the things that possibly other people don't want to delve into for
[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_18]: the sake of offending people or upsetting people and you know I'm in
[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_18]: the opinion if you're upset or offended then you know really got to look at
[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_18]: yourself because I read scripture I've got a lot of scripture references sat in
[00:16:12] [SPEAKER_18]: front of me now reference giving and you know I just think it's got to be
[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_18]: looked into it's rightful that we discuss this I'm not going to name
[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_18]: any churches in particular for the sake of getting sued but there are
[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_18]: churches out there how as I've mentioned that they are sat on millions and
[00:16:32] [SPEAKER_18]: millions of dollars there was far as I'm concerned that money when any
[00:16:38] [SPEAKER_18]: particular individual gets a promotion into heaven I'm pretty sure that money's
[00:16:44] [SPEAKER_18]: not going with them it definitely isn't so I can't understand when we speak in
[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_18]: scriptural reference about the storehouse to feed the orphans and
[00:16:55] [SPEAKER_18]: widows it this actually scriptural reference isn't it to feed the
[00:16:58] [SPEAKER_18]: orphans and when well what what why are they not doing this then well what are
[00:17:02] [SPEAKER_18]: they doing where's that money going what do you think I think the world's
[00:17:07] [SPEAKER_17]: going on at the minute as you're saying a lot of churches are sitting on this
[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_17]: morning I mean I had a shot last week but I find it not naming any names I
[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_17]: thought the richest church was a certain church and I've discovered it
[00:17:19] [SPEAKER_17]: isn't it's another church yeah and you're talking billions of dollars
[00:17:25] [SPEAKER_17]: pounds whatever and why is that money sat there there is people out in every
[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_17]: country starving homeless that money should be used for them but get back
[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_17]: to giving and as you say I think time and it's not just about your money
[00:17:48] [SPEAKER_17]: yes it is important to give that money to your church it is important to give
[00:17:53] [SPEAKER_17]: that money to the poor the homeless feed whoever you need to do and but also you
[00:17:58] [SPEAKER_17]: need to give it joyfully yeah it says in scripture a cheerful giver so if you
[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_17]: if you're somebody that's earning thousands and thousands of dollars and
[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_17]: you just give a dollar because if you oh I can give that money but then
[00:18:13] [SPEAKER_17]: you've got somebody's earning you know maybe got ten dollars in the pocket and
[00:18:18] [SPEAKER_17]: are giving one dollar who's going who's giving the most is it the person with
[00:18:23] [SPEAKER_17]: sitting on thousands of dollars or the person with ten you know but you've
[00:18:28] [SPEAKER_17]: got to give it cheerfully yeah you know and a lot of people I think don't get
[00:18:33] [SPEAKER_17]: that concept of being begrudgingly handing over my side but in scripture
[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_17]: it says a cheerful giver and I think if you're a cheerful giver you're giving
[00:18:44] [SPEAKER_17]: because it's in your spirit to give and because you're obeying as well what it
[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_17]: says in your Bible you're happy to give that money you're not doing it
[00:18:54] [SPEAKER_17]: begrudgingly oh I must do this yeah so I think just if you've got it yeah the
[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_18]: thing is the fingers it's like I mean I'm just gonna slightly throw a
[00:19:08] [SPEAKER_18]: ball out there it's like when people get when people get a salary increase it's
[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_18]: a percentage when you pay tax it's a percentage now the thing is if I'm
[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_18]: earning for arguments say twenty thousand dollars a year and you're earning ten
[00:19:24] [SPEAKER_18]: thousand dollars a year when I get my 10% pair eyes I'm even more richer than
[00:19:28] [SPEAKER_18]: you well yeah because because of the difference in that yeah and it's the
[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_18]: same if we were talking about giving if I'm earning twenty thousand you're
[00:19:40] [SPEAKER_18]: earning ten and I give 10% and you give 10% then who's like as we read with the
[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_18]: wonderful piece of scripture who's made the biggest sacrifice who's made the
[00:19:52] [SPEAKER_18]: biggest offering the sacrifice is what it's got to be about it's not about
[00:19:58] [SPEAKER_18]: you know oh I've given this and I've given that it's about what you got left
[00:20:05] [SPEAKER_17]: exactly I mean the best one I can't remember it was we listened to it was on
[00:20:12] [SPEAKER_17]: about that same story but they like and they had the widow and then the other
[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_17]: rich people that were putting all their money in there was all pop stars do
[00:20:21] [SPEAKER_17]: you remember yeah I can't remember it was but the wonderful way about explaining
[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_17]: it you know so who was given the most was it for example I'm not saying that it is
[00:20:31] [SPEAKER_17]: you know but like Madonna Lady Gaga and you know all the rich rich people super
[00:20:37] [SPEAKER_17]: millionaires and they was giving their quarter but it was nothing for them yeah
[00:20:43] [SPEAKER_17]: it really is a drop in the old words of sacrifice within that where the poor
[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_17]: widow who's got like you know a couple of coins and she put her couple of coins
[00:20:56] [SPEAKER_17]: in she made as you said she made the biggest sacrifice and it is all about
[00:21:00] [SPEAKER_17]: sacrifice sacrificially you give as well but give happily give joyfully yeah
[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_18]: yeah scripture reference again the Lord loves the cheerful giver I mean it
[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_18]: is a piece of scripture which I'd like to discuss because I think it's it's
[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_18]: extremely interesting it's Ecclesiastes chapter 5 and verse 10 and
[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_18]: it says this whoever loves money never has enough beautiful I love that statement
[00:21:25] [SPEAKER_18]: say whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income and then it
[00:21:31] [SPEAKER_18]: goes on to say this too is meaningless and it's right I've noticed people who
[00:21:38] [SPEAKER_18]: who have acquired wealth and most people to be fair they work really hard to
[00:21:44] [SPEAKER_18]: acquire that wealth but it's never enough they always want more I mean both you and
[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_18]: I know people who who are millionaires right they just are and they've worked
[00:21:56] [SPEAKER_18]: hard to get that they have but would you say they're happy no no they're not
[00:22:03] [SPEAKER_18]: the probably know they've got everything they never needed they need the
[00:22:07] [SPEAKER_18]: big houses the beautiful cars and someone and so forth but but you know when
[00:22:12] [SPEAKER_18]: you see him and when you speak from the miserable yeah yeah I don't know what
[00:22:19] [SPEAKER_18]: would you know how would you feel if someone come along and say he's a million
[00:22:23] [SPEAKER_17]: pint are you gonna be happy well he can remember that well fortunately I was
[00:22:28] [SPEAKER_17]: kind of on both sides of this with my first marriage we had everything we have
[00:22:35] [SPEAKER_17]: the house built for us we had an architect this time around because that
[00:22:40] [SPEAKER_17]: went wrong I'm not going into any details but that went wrong I remarried
[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_17]: somebody who was less well off but I'm a lot happier yeah you know so when I had
[00:22:49] [SPEAKER_17]: all that money and I could go shopping in the big posh places you know Chanel and
[00:22:55] [SPEAKER_17]: all this I wasn't happy but no I am happy and I shop in yeah yeah I mean it
[00:23:04] [SPEAKER_18]: sure would be nice to have a huge bank account it would be nice not you know you
[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_18]: can't you can't say otherwise however however happiness that is something that
[00:23:18] [SPEAKER_18]: I don't believe money can buy you know it can't you know it just can't so let's
[00:23:23] [SPEAKER_18]: have a look I mean he's another wonderful piece of scripture Matthew 10
[00:23:26] [SPEAKER_18]: versus eight freely you have received freely give I gotta admit I struggle
[00:23:32] [SPEAKER_18]: there I'm more of a receiving the free than giving but it's good to give it's
[00:23:42] [SPEAKER_17]: like at Christmas are you are you more happier at giving your gift or receiving
[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_18]: again I love to give gifts yeah yeah giving giving is nice only thing I
[00:23:52] [SPEAKER_17]: either see the Christmas is a headache yeah from all the kids but I love to
[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_18]: it is it is it's beautiful this will I'm quite enjoying this topic and we'll
[00:24:06] [SPEAKER_18]: we'll talk a bit more in a moment but so do you know what here we are we'll be

[00:29:06] [SPEAKER_18]: churches I'm not disputing churches do a great deal but I've always been
[00:29:12] [SPEAKER_18]: it being involved in ministry most of my Christian life and now I'm being a pastor
[00:29:18] [SPEAKER_18]: ministries bring people to church however churches sort of look down upon some
[00:29:25] [SPEAKER_18]: ministries you know and just as churches you know take an offering every week
[00:29:32] [SPEAKER_18]: you know ministries don't mean I know a number of ministries you've never
[00:29:36] [SPEAKER_18]: took an offering you know but yet the Lord sustains that work and again we can
[00:29:44] [SPEAKER_18]: we can heart back to scripture for that can't we well yeah you know that the I
[00:29:49] [SPEAKER_18]: mean and my good Philippines 419 let's just throw that one out there and my God
[00:29:54] [SPEAKER_18]: will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus
[00:30:01] [SPEAKER_17]: you're right because I think if you're faithful to God no matter what you're
[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_17]: doing no matter what you're in it's like with things that have gone on at the

[00:30:49] [SPEAKER_17]: always do what I'm saying is you didn't have to go on after that money

[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_17]: faith because you were faithful to him because you even though when you was

[00:31:51] [SPEAKER_18]: loves a cheerful giver you know because when you give cheerfully that money can

[00:32:09] [SPEAKER_18]: mysterious we just don't know how he works and now's we know how to do was
[00:32:14] [SPEAKER_18]: Christians is to pray into something yeah you know when something goes wrong
[00:32:18] [SPEAKER_18]: you pray yeah when you when you're in need of something you pray yeah and we did

[00:32:29] [SPEAKER_18]: prayed and prayed and prayed and pray we never specified anything and then
[00:32:34] [SPEAKER_18]: the Lord presented via a beautiful young man this this building and it was like
[00:32:41] [SPEAKER_18]: wow never saw that coming exactly you know the Lord presented us with something
[00:32:48] [SPEAKER_18]: from a complete angle we never could have even dreamt of no complete curveball but
[00:32:55] [SPEAKER_18]: but hey that's how the Lord was praising for it yeah that's what I mean and you
[00:33:01] [SPEAKER_17]: know I think sometimes if you sit there with your begging bowl so to speak
[00:33:07] [SPEAKER_18]: you're not relying on God that's right I mean I might have for awesome

[00:33:46] [SPEAKER_18]: the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil the love of money that's
[00:33:53] [SPEAKER_18]: evil yeah yeah we know and let's continue that scripture so for the love of
[00:33:59] [SPEAKER_18]: money is the root of all kinds of evil some people eager for money I've
[00:34:05] [SPEAKER_18]: wondered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs kind of what
[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_18]: we're just saying yeah yeah it's often very much when love of money is the
[00:34:16] [SPEAKER_18]: root of all evil it's the love the love of money I don't know about I don't
[00:34:21] [SPEAKER_18]: love money you know we all need some money of course we do because that's
[00:34:28] [SPEAKER_18]: how we pay the bills isn't it yeah exactly you know but where that money comes
[00:34:33] [SPEAKER_18]: from and often I mean you've got a wonderful story about my niece your
[00:34:38] [SPEAKER_18]: daughter and their wedding you want to share that well that's it because it was
[00:34:42] [SPEAKER_17]: actually over a property and they needed a deposit if you remember they
[00:34:48] [SPEAKER_17]: were getting married and they needed this certain amounts of money to get
[00:34:57] [SPEAKER_17]: a certain amount of money shot so we've been praying into it well if this
[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_17]: property is the right property for them please can you you know show them it's
[00:35:06] [SPEAKER_17]: the right property and the exact amount of money came through the door yeah in
[00:35:11] [SPEAKER_17]: an envelope in an envelope we never found out exactly where we had come from
[00:35:15] [SPEAKER_17]: you know we can all make assumptions but the exact amount of money
[00:35:22] [SPEAKER_17]: appeared and that was God's provision yeah and it must have been God must have
[00:35:26] [SPEAKER_17]: put it possibly on some well definitely on somebody's heart so give them
[00:35:31] [SPEAKER_17]: because they knew exactly to the penny how much they needed for this property and
[00:35:36] [SPEAKER_17]: you know it's always God's provision work for the love of money like you when we
[00:35:41] [SPEAKER_17]: needed it you know building if you'd have been going to everybody go right
[00:35:44] [SPEAKER_17]: you can all put this in the pot you can all do that you that's your love of
[00:35:48] [SPEAKER_17]: the money yeah and you're then making that is something that you shouldn't be
[00:35:53] [SPEAKER_17]: making it into because you're eager for the money but as it says sir if you're
[00:35:58] [SPEAKER_17]: doing that and begging people you know we need certain amount of money you are
[00:36:04] [SPEAKER_17]: going to pay it you're gonna put your side in it's not a side then yeah it's
[00:36:11] [SPEAKER_17]: an instruction they're not giving freely or joyfully and you're wondering from
[00:36:16] [SPEAKER_17]: the path that God gave you to be faithful to him yeah you know to rely
[00:36:21] [SPEAKER_18]: on fully on God yeah and that's what he wants us to do yeah he wants us to you
[00:36:26] [SPEAKER_18]: know to rely on him for everything you know I mean I got a bit of a control
[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_18]: freak sometimes and I you know sort of micro manage things without even knowledge
[00:36:37] [SPEAKER_18]: that I'm doing it you know and and I think everyone's got a bit of that yeah
[00:36:42] [SPEAKER_18]: but nevertheless it's giving you you know I mean there's that wonderful

[00:37:21] [SPEAKER_18]: wealth which is so uncertain but to put their hope in God who richly provides us
[00:37:27] [SPEAKER_18]: with everything for our enjoyment and that's what we've just been talking
[00:37:32] [SPEAKER_18]: about it really is and you know so let's just break it down command those
[00:37:37] [SPEAKER_18]: who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant I find most people who are
[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_18]: rich to be arrogant well no to put their hope in wealth because wealth is so
[00:37:47] [SPEAKER_18]: uncertain it tells us there and he's the most important to put your hope in God
[00:37:53] [SPEAKER_18]: who richly provides us with everything well that's it we've just been talking
[00:37:58] [SPEAKER_18]: about it and I think one one piece of scripture referencing this I'd like to
[00:38:05] [SPEAKER_18]: hit on and he's found in revelation and I think it's an awesome piece of
[00:38:10] [SPEAKER_18]: scripture it's chapter 3 verse 17 and he's more of a warning I think that
[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_18]: anything else much more of a warning here we go are you ready for this you say
[00:38:22] [SPEAKER_18]: I am rich I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing but you do not realize
[00:38:30] [SPEAKER_18]: that you are wretched pitiful who were blind and naked oh well this is how
[00:38:40] [SPEAKER_17]: you can be rich in financial assets what are you really you've got nothing what
[00:38:46] [SPEAKER_17]: else if you got have you got God in your heart I've you got love I've you got
[00:38:50] [SPEAKER_17]: friends because maybe that rich you're that arrogant that you think I don't need
[00:38:55] [SPEAKER_17]: anybody well they do don't I certainly don't need God and my life yeah they
[00:39:00] [SPEAKER_18]: is another piece of scripture about you can't serve two masters yeah you know
[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_18]: these masters we could perceive what one master is money that's the other
[00:39:08] [SPEAKER_18]: one is the Lord you can't serve the two of them it have to pick one you know and
[00:39:14] [SPEAKER_18]: you only need to look at my bank balance to know that I'm certainly not serving
[00:39:18] [SPEAKER_17]: money but yeah yeah I think what we do need to do we just remember that God's
[00:39:26] [SPEAKER_17]: in control of everything your finances your health and I think where the rich
[00:39:31] [SPEAKER_17]: people are concerned it might be well I'm gonna use my money to do something
[00:39:36] [SPEAKER_18]: instead of asking God for it yeah yeah we sort of could digress couldn't mean to
[00:39:42] [SPEAKER_18]: work versus face yeah I'm gonna keep it according to my bank balance I think
[00:39:48] [SPEAKER_18]: there's an error with the printer because a decimal points in their lost

[00:43:59] [SPEAKER_18]: we've been talking about so here we go two Christian businessman met on a trip
[00:44:05] [SPEAKER_18]: and one day they saw a field by the side of the road in the field a boy
[00:44:10] [SPEAKER_18]: pulled a handmade very crude plow while an old man held the plow handles
[00:44:15] [SPEAKER_18]: and directed it through the field one of the men was very amused and he took a
[00:44:20] [SPEAKER_18]: picture they said to the other persons on the tour guide he said hey this is a
[00:44:24] [SPEAKER_18]: curious sight and the other the tour guy said yes I know these people there are
[00:44:30] [SPEAKER_18]: wonderful and generous family so when the church building was built and they
[00:44:36] [SPEAKER_18]: were eager to give something but they have no money so they sold the ox and
[00:44:41] [SPEAKER_18]: then they gave the money to the church this being spring that pulling the play
[00:44:47] [SPEAKER_18]: by themselves now both businessmen fell silent for a moment and one said to the
[00:44:52] [SPEAKER_18]: other that must have been a real sacrifice now the tour guide said well
[00:44:58] [SPEAKER_18]: they didn't call it that they thought it was fortunate that they had an ox to
[00:45:02] [SPEAKER_18]: sell those businessmen did not have much to say after that but when they
[00:45:08] [SPEAKER_18]: reached home one took the picture to his minister and told him of the incident
[00:45:12] [SPEAKER_18]: and he said I want to double my offering to the church he said and I want to give
[00:45:19] [SPEAKER_18]: me some playwork to do give me something to do now the other guy said I've
[00:45:28] [SPEAKER_18]: really never know what sacrifices for the law and I'm ashamed to say I've
[00:45:33] [SPEAKER_18]: never given anything to the Lord but that really cost me something no so who's
[00:45:40] [SPEAKER_18]: the most generous in God's view point they're not the reach not the rich at
[00:45:47] [SPEAKER_18]: all not those with wealth but they are people who I'll use this phrase power I
[00:45:53] [SPEAKER_18]: don't like using it but that's the only one I can go up people who don't
[00:45:57] [SPEAKER_18]: have the same income and that's what we can learn from this story the most generous
[00:46:05] [SPEAKER_18]: people out there not determined by how much they give but it's what they've
[00:46:11] [SPEAKER_18]: got left after they give not the size of the gift but the size of the
[00:46:17] [SPEAKER_18]: sacrifice so here's some questions what will be left after you give what will
[00:46:26] [SPEAKER_18]: be the size of your sacrifice so I'd like to as we approach the end of fave
[00:46:35] [SPEAKER_18]: day it's only right that we have our wonderful guest and ask her if you'd
[00:46:41] [SPEAKER_18]: like to say any final words or would you just like to end in prayer anything
[00:46:49] [SPEAKER_18]: however the Lord however the Holy Spirit leads you think one of the
[00:46:54] [SPEAKER_17]: things that I feel because some people unfortunately and for no father on in
[00:47:03] [SPEAKER_17]: the position to give financially and maybe somebody that's homeless but still
[00:47:10] [SPEAKER_17]: want to be involved in a church maybe somebody that's very very likely
[00:47:16] [SPEAKER_17]: to have a problem come for whatever reason but you can still give you can
[00:47:22] [SPEAKER_17]: give you time one of the things that you know I know a lot of people do is maybe
[00:47:29] [SPEAKER_17]: helping in a church soup kitchen maybe just walking around and talking to other
[00:47:38] [SPEAKER_17]: people so if you are really really in a position that you are unable to give give
[00:47:49] [SPEAKER_17]: your time give your prayers you know I mean if you are unable to give financial
[00:47:58] [SPEAKER_17]: that's the way I would do it you know but if you can't get financial that's
[00:48:02] [SPEAKER_17]: where to do it because you're still so an intergotten kingdom so even if
[00:48:06] [SPEAKER_17]: you're helping in a soup kitchen you're someone into God's kingdoms you know you're
[00:48:09] [SPEAKER_17]: telling people about God if you're out there you know feeding people you're
[00:48:15] [SPEAKER_17]: telling people about God and most churches these days have got scriptures
[00:48:20] [SPEAKER_17]: that you can hand out even if you walk around and just standing scriptures
[00:48:24] [SPEAKER_17]: out you're giving your time and as long as you're giving it because you want
[00:48:30] [SPEAKER_17]: to God will honor that if you cannot give financially God knows your
[00:48:35] [SPEAKER_17]: heart and you are really truly unable to do that think of another way you can do
[00:48:40] [SPEAKER_17]: it as I say give your time you know help somebody feed somebody you know and you
[00:48:50] [SPEAKER_17]: know you cannot even a standing on the church door welcoming people in you
[00:48:55] [SPEAKER_18]: know that would do as well so yeah I mean I would say was over time I mean
[00:49:01] [SPEAKER_18]: even you know every church when they've done the hours ever you have some
[00:49:06] [SPEAKER_18]: fellowship time normally why not just maybe I'm sure most most ministers would
[00:49:14] [SPEAKER_18]: be what they would be grateful for this yeah just pop a little card on a table
[00:49:19] [SPEAKER_18]: saying need prayer yeah question mark yeah again you're giving yeah you're
[00:49:25] [SPEAKER_18]: giving your time you're giving you're giving prayer to somebody you know
[00:49:29] [SPEAKER_18]: and as we know the Lord listens yes and when he says well they like obviously
[00:49:36] [SPEAKER_17]: never in your time because yeah it is by talking of prayer I think we better just
[00:49:41] [SPEAKER_17]: call it yeah yeah Lord I just thank you for the opportunity to this evening so

[00:50:05] [SPEAKER_17]: that and I pray for the whole wide world at the minute especially in the
[00:50:09] [SPEAKER_17]: climate that we're in right now Lord you know it's very difficult no matter
[00:50:12] [SPEAKER_17]: what country we're in it's a difficult climate and Lord I just pray for
[00:50:16] [SPEAKER_17]: everybody right now and like I say you put something on the heart of your
[00:50:22] [SPEAKER_18]: word for them amen and then wonderful wonderful so I do hope and pray that this
[00:50:30] [SPEAKER_18]: program has been enlightening I'm not going to be arrogant enough that you
[00:50:36] [SPEAKER_18]: may have learned something but I think it's one of those topics that does
[00:50:41] [SPEAKER_18]: need to be addressed because let us be quite honest there are churches out
[00:50:47] [SPEAKER_18]: there sat on millions of dollars doing nothing with it that they're not
[00:50:53] [SPEAKER_18]: giving to the widows and orphans they're not you know maybe blessing a
[00:50:57] [SPEAKER_18]: community with something I mean here in the UK as you've probably heard
[00:51:02] [SPEAKER_18]: particularly you know a lot of our local councils have run out of money
[00:51:05] [SPEAKER_18]: guess what the local churches have funded some work just to tidy up the
[00:51:12] [SPEAKER_18]: place just to clean up a children's play area just to you know trim back some
[00:51:18] [SPEAKER_18]: trees which had gotten overgrown you know to the point where Tarsen would
[00:51:23] [SPEAKER_18]: not have even entered because they were too big and overgrown and that's
[00:51:28] [SPEAKER_18]: where the church should be at the heart of the community helping in not
[00:51:34] [SPEAKER_18]: even just just the local community but the local councils I found that
[00:51:39] [SPEAKER_18]: fascinating when I got the news of that and what a beautiful blessing so as we
[00:51:48] [SPEAKER_18]: come to the end of this program I would like to thank Ron for giving me the
[00:51:53] [SPEAKER_18]: opportunity and thank have a wonderful producer Doug who sat there now and I
[00:51:59] [SPEAKER_18]: got my little girl with me my beautiful little girlie and I'd like to thank
