[00:00:03] [SPEAKER_06]: The question that our good friend Jerry Newcomb asked in an article that we've posted on the

[00:00:25] [SPEAKER_07]: Point of View website, will recent campus revivals spill over to the nation? Turns out that now

[00:00:32] [SPEAKER_07]: we have the fourth major collegiate revival that has took place in less than a month talking

[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_07]: about thousands of students that gathered at the University of Arkansas on Thursday

[00:00:44] [SPEAKER_07]: night to seek Jesus and find salvation in his name. One group reported that there were

[00:00:51] [SPEAKER_07]: about 10,000 students from 67 different universities that all gathered in the Bud Walton Arena.

[00:01:01] [SPEAKER_07]: If you think that's a one-off, of course you maybe haven't been listening to Point of View

[00:01:05] [SPEAKER_07]: because we've also talked about some of these revivals that have taken place in the University

[00:01:11] [SPEAKER_07]: Carolina, Texas A&M in the main campus, Ohio State, and that doesn't even acknowledge the

[00:01:19] [SPEAKER_07]: one that really got people thinking about it. That's the one in Asbury that took place in early

[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_07]: 2023. As Jerry Newcomb says, is aslin on the move to paraphrase C.S. Lewis the lion,

[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_07]: the witch and the wardrobe? This is a situation in which we are now seeing that a good number

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_07]: of individuals on college campuses today are reporting different revivals that have taken place.

[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_07]: The big question is, would this lead to another revival? On this program we've talked about the

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_07]: first great awakening which happened in large part because of the preaching of Jonathan Edwards

[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_07]: in Massachusetts as well as the traveling evangelist George Whitfield. He gives us some great quotes

[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_07]: from Sarah Edwards, who is Jonathan Edwards' wife about the impact of his preaching. I've mentioned

[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_07]: in the past some of the comments that Benjamin Franklin made about the teaching of Whitfield

[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_07]: and he says for example, it was wonderful to see the change soon made in the manners of our

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_07]: inhabitants from being thoughtless or indifferent about religion. It seemed as if all the world

[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_07]: were growing religious so that one could walk through the town in an evening without hearing

[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_07]: psalms sung in different families of every street. Lots of other stories as well. As a matter of

[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_07]: fact, he quotes from one of the things that we mentioned in our Patriot Preachers booklet

[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_07]: about John Adams who went and asked, well why did we have the revolution? He pointed to the

[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_07]: first great awakening and some of the great pastors and preachers of that time and said

[00:02:56] [SPEAKER_07]: the revolution was affected before the war commenced. The revolution was in the minds and

[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_07]: hearts of the people and change in their religious sentiments of their duties and obligations. So

[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_07]: I thought we'd begin with that because a little bit later this hour we'll be talking with our

[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_07]: friend Kim Till who is at Dallas Theological Seminary celebrating now this next year 100

[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_07]: years of various teaching and various programs and even of course on radio you think of the

[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_07]: individuals that we take for granted today that are graduates of Dallas Seminary whether it's

[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_07]: Chuck Swindall or David Jeremiah or Tony Evans. The list goes on and on of individuals in that

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_07]: regard all the missionaries around the world all the different churches being taught by

[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_07]: graduates of Dallas Seminary and it's a reminder that if indeed we have a revival

[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_07]: we certainly need more than a revival we need a reformation. We need people not only worshiping

[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_07]: God but really knowing how to think biblically about every area of life so whether it is through

[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_07]: various programs that are taught in Bible colleges and seminaries or whether it's

[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_07]: a program like Point of View we recognize how important it is to provide biblical content

[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_07]: whether there's a revival or not. We leave that up to the Lord but certainly we are responsible for

[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_07]: knowing how to communicate biblical truth to this generation and to our culture and so

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_07]: again that is one of the themes that we were talking about this week during our fourth day

[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_07]: of truth team week and once again we bring to the microphone an individual in studio

[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Colin Lambert. Hello it's great to be with you and it is day four or two days remaining if you

[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_05]: want to look at it that way in our fall truth team week that's right today and tomorrow and that's

[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_05]: it. Our goal for the week $150,000 we are a bit behind where we would like to be Kirby so

[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_05]: we want to start right off right at front talking about where we are right now and where we'd like

[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_05]: to get to right now I'm seeing that we've got about uh let's see 43,750 dollars in toward that 150 so

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_05]: just over a hundred thousand dollars to go today and tomorrow maybe 50,000 a day I'm not sure what

[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_05]: we can do I look back at some of the numbers over past years and I've seen some days that

[00:05:23] [SPEAKER_05]: were 40,000 dollars I've seen a day that was 60,000 dollars so today I think we really need to get as

[00:05:28] [SPEAKER_05]: close to 50,000 as we can so that we might be able to do that again tomorrow we had a wonderful

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_05]: large gift given earlier I want to tell you more about that coming up in just a moment

[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_05]: but let's talk about what you can do right now first let me give you the number it's 800-347-5151

[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_05]: we're listener supported these are not extra dollars we're seeking to raise these are dollars for

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_05]: ongoing operations to keep point of view on the air and providing all of the wonderful things

[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_05]: you expect from point of view each and every day so how can you help well final days we've got

[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_05]: that $30 giving level we've got a $50 giving level a $100 giving level we'd also like to see

[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_05]: if today we could see 10 gifts at least 10 gifts of a thousand dollars or more you say well

[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_05]: there's no way I could do a thousand dollars today how about a hundred dollars a month

[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_05]: try that that would spread out to be about 1200 dollars ultimately for the year but much more

[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_05]: feasible on a monthly basis maybe for many who could give that 100 dollars a month we'd

[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_05]: like to see 10 gifts today of at least a thousand dollars or more and if we're going to get to

[00:06:45] [SPEAKER_05]: where we need to be Kirby by Friday we would love to see another one of those larger legacy gifts maybe

[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_05]: 2500 maybe 5000 or maybe another $10,000 gift it's going to take some of those to get to the total

[00:06:58] [SPEAKER_05]: of 150,000 by the time we get to tomorrow so we are so grateful for people who've given I've

[00:07:05] [SPEAKER_05]: got a whole list of folks to thank you we'll get to that as time goes along but we just

[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_05]: want to point you to our phone number right away we have a wonderful group of volunteers

[00:07:14] [SPEAKER_05]: in the next room waiting to take your call 800-347-5151 800-347-5151 or pointofview.net

[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_07]: and I might just even say thank you to the two volunteers I'm looking at through the window

[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_07]: our both of our wives are here today answering the phone with staff answering the phone

[00:07:32] [SPEAKER_07]: and so they're just waiting by the phone to hear from you and I want you to understand

[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_07]: that whatever gift you can give will be greatly appreciated absolutely even when we talk about

[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_07]: the large gifts we know some of you say well I can't give as big a gift and that's fine we

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_07]: certainly are looking for hopefully 100% participation we know that won't be happening but we hope that

[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_07]: those of you that have benefited from this program will call this number again it's 800-347-5151

[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_07]: of course I might also mention that you can go to the website pointofview.net and for those of

[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_07]: you watching online you may be watching our feed you may be watching it on Facebook I noticed that

[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_07]: Karen and Steve have put up a place where it has the number and the website as well there's also

[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_07]: a QR code so we've made it about as easy as possible so if you're listening or watching

[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_07]: online either way we have that information somewhere along the way we'll also talk about

[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_07]: the fact that we do provide some thank you gifts to you but right now I think most of you

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_07]: have been probably hearing us talk about that but in case you haven't we'll get to that a little bit

[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_07]: later but the best thing to do right now as we go to a break give us a phone call 800-347-5151

[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_07]: 800-347-5151 or at pointofview.net this is Viewpoints with Kirby Anderson as I mentioned in previous

[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_07]: commentaries there has been a significant difference in opinion between the media

[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_07]: and average Americans about the economy the media and members of the Biden administration point to

[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_07]: certain positive economic indicators and believe Americans should be excited about our current

[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_07]: economy earlier this month the Census Bureau produced its report on household income poverty

[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_07]: and health coverage they discovered that real median household income remains lower than in 2019

[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_07]: and has barely grown since 2020 the wall street journal editorial explains why Americans are

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_07]: sour on the economy the editors even provided a chart that shows a contrast between the first

[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_07]: three years of the Trump and Biden presidencies which you can see if you follow the link during

[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_07]: the Trump years incomes climb for Asians by $14,000 for whites by $9,000 for Hispanics $7,000

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_07]: and for blacks 4500 by contrast income gains during the Biden years were modest incomes for

[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_07]: Asians rose only $1,500 for whites $850 for Hispanics $700 and for blacks $2,600 the editors add that

[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_07]: because COVID reduced incomes in 2020 this comparison of anything flattens the Biden record if you look

[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_07]: at the last year you see an even more dismal record real median earnings for a full-time

[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_07]: workers last year declined and the decline was even worse for high school grads what that means

[00:10:30] [SPEAKER_07]: is that inflation outpaced wages for most low wage workers i think we can see why more Americans

[00:10:37] [SPEAKER_07]: are sour on our current economy i'm Kirby Anderson and that's my point of view

[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_06]: for a free booklet on a biblical view on big data go to viewpoints.info

[00:10:52] [SPEAKER_06]: data that's viewpoint stop info slash data point of view finding clarity in the chaos

[00:11:04] [SPEAKER_00]: the importance of supporting ministries like point of view that speak the truth we complain

[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_00]: sometimes that we're not hearing the truth in pulpits around the america but when we have a

[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_00]: radio show like point of view that speaks the truth that really lays out the issues from

[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_00]: a biblical perspective that gives you the ammunition as teachers of the word and disciple makers to go

[00:11:28] [SPEAKER_00]: out there and engage the culture these ministries folks are the ones we need to be supporting in this

[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_00]: hour and that's what y'all do every day Kirby and i just hope people will continue to support

[00:11:40] [SPEAKER_00]: such a legacy ministry that has meant so much for this nation finding clarity in the chaos

[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_07]: point of view many pounds and of course she was with us on monday

[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_07]: and reminded us to talk about legacy that she first started listening to point of view as a high

[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_07]: school student when she was a teacher's aide grading stew papers and things of that nature so

[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_07]: some long legacy we're going to be talking with kim till in just a minute about the legacy of

[00:12:06] [SPEAKER_07]: dallas theological seminary of course you've been at moody radio the uh legacies certainly

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_07]: continue with the point of view 52 years broadcasting isn't that something it's something

[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_05]: and you know you don't stay around for that long doing this kind of a job unless you're doing it well

[00:12:22] [SPEAKER_05]: and then it's benefiting people and you mentioned bunny there started as a young person and she

[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_05]: said flat out it it changed the trajectory of her life and now she's uh registering and making

[00:12:36] [SPEAKER_05]: sure that christians are praying and voting and engaging half a million she said maybe by this

[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_05]: friday and maybe a million before the election i mean that look at that impact just from those

[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_05]: early days of hearing marlin mattocks and then kirby anderson talking about this thing maybe it's

[00:12:54] [SPEAKER_05]: had the same kind of impact on you if if point of view has impacted your life this is your chance

[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_05]: to impact point of view during our truth team week would you call right now 803 475151 give

[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_05]: your best gift today 803 475 151 let us continue this legacy let me just mention that the first

[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_07]: article we just read from will recent campus revival spill over to the nation and my argument is

[00:13:23] [SPEAKER_07]: as if indeed we might be on the edge of another revival or even if we're not there is

[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_07]: certainly a need for good biblical education and hopefully we provide some of that on radio

[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_07]: but for 100 years dallas theological seminary has been providing that and i thought it would be good

[00:13:39] [SPEAKER_07]: for you to hear a little bit more from an individual we've had on the program once before kim till

[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_07]: who has been at dallas theological seminary on the staff since 1996 so there's 28 years of legacy

[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_07]: there serves in the dual role of all providing oversight to institutional resource development

[00:13:56] [SPEAKER_07]: as well as a state and charitable gift planning she's actually had about a 40 year career working

[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_07]: with different charitable organizations like southwestern baptist university in missouri and

[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_07]: also with baler health care and the rest she is a certified fundraising professional and just

[00:14:13] [SPEAKER_07]: a very good friend of the ministry so kim till welcome back to point of view well thank you

[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_07]: very much it's a pleasure to join you today let's say we can talk about this legacy of 100

[00:14:25] [SPEAKER_07]: years of dallas theological seminary our second article is a link to dts.edu slash sentinel and

[00:14:34] [SPEAKER_07]: you will learn a lot more about that but certainly that is an incredible legacy starting with

[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_07]: lewis fairy chaffer going all the way up through people like chucks windall and all the way up

[00:14:45] [SPEAKER_07]: now to mark bailey and mark yarborough this is an amazing impact that this seminary has had and

[00:14:52] [SPEAKER_07]: i'd love to have you kind of recount maybe some of the highlights you're so right we we consider it

[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_03]: such an honor to be celebrating our sentinel you know we are looking back in 1924

[00:15:09] [SPEAKER_03]: lewis fairy chaffer was traveling around the country and he was watching the churches

[00:15:16] [SPEAKER_03]: stepping away from the teaching of the bible and really sliding toward the liberal side

[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_03]: of christianity the view of christianity and he would ask the pastors he'd say you know

[00:15:29] [SPEAKER_03]: what do you miss most in your training to prepare you to be a pastor and and he heard it over and

[00:15:34] [SPEAKER_03]: over again these pastors were saying i wish we'd been trained more in the bible to teach the

[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_03]: bible to know the truth of what the bible was all about and you know couldn't we say the very same

[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_03]: thing today that you know the world is searching for truth and it is found clearly in god's word in the

[00:15:56] [SPEAKER_03]: truth of the scriptures and and so here we are a hundred years later i mean that

[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_03]: dr chaffer had such a deep burden to start the school he said i am so compelled i can't do

[00:16:09] [SPEAKER_03]: anything else and uh so he started it and here it is a hundred years and we have not wavered at all

[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_03]: from his original desire to to have a seminary whose central core of study is the word of god

[00:16:25] [SPEAKER_03]: and and we teach all 66 books no matter what degree program you're in you know the word you

[00:16:32] [SPEAKER_03]: know how to apply it to the ministry that god is calling you to and our grads are out there

[00:16:37] [SPEAKER_03]: speaking the truth into our culture and making a significant difference here in the united states

[00:16:44] [SPEAKER_07]: and really all around the world and again people would be more familiar with some of the famous

[00:16:49] [SPEAKER_07]: people like of course jay verne and meggy and as i mentioned charles so swindall and david jeremiah

[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_07]: at twenty years jim robert jeffers yeah yeah and uh chipping grim on and on and on but on and on

[00:17:03] [SPEAKER_07]: but you have taken the time sometimes to talk about organizations and people that

[00:17:09] [SPEAKER_07]: individuals would not know and in a like 60 minutes try to give people a view for the impact

[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_07]: that your seminary and of course then we can add other seminaries and bible colleges are having

[00:17:21] [SPEAKER_03]: literally around the world mm-hmm yeah it's amazing that you know when you're teaching the truth

[00:17:27] [SPEAKER_03]: that's in the bible and then god inspires an individual to go out and do whatever they are

[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_03]: gifted to do so i mean just think about knowing biblical truth and being in a counseling room

[00:17:40] [SPEAKER_03]: so that you are trained as a biblical counselor so that you can point people to

[00:17:47] [SPEAKER_03]: truths that they can stand on to overcome whatever that they're whatever brokenness

[00:17:53] [SPEAKER_03]: it's in their life or you point to a grad who is uh an evangelist because i mean the word of god

[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_03]: you know we say we're teaching the truth of god's word world that centers in the gospel the good

[00:18:04] [SPEAKER_03]: news of jesus christ so you think about all the people that are taking the gospel around the

[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_03]: world and and people that are in serving uh in orphanages or as missionaries or as um

[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_03]: course pastors and of course teachers teachers in bible colleges but also teachers in the secular

[00:18:21] [SPEAKER_03]: realm we have teachers we have a teacher up at west point uh you know there's there's so many ways

[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_03]: to express what you've learned here at dal seminary uh in in in ways all over the world it's just

[00:18:34] [SPEAKER_07]: amazing you know one of the things we like to talk about calling is the impact that these various

[00:18:39] [SPEAKER_07]: bible colleges and seminaries are having of course you've worked with moody radio all those

[00:18:44] [SPEAKER_07]: years and see what moody bible institute has done and we've been talking about some of the

[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_07]: individuals we've interviewed here and it's just a reminder that we certainly have a need to support

[00:18:54] [SPEAKER_07]: those institutions and hopefully we are trying to encourage people to read good biblically centered

[00:19:00] [SPEAKER_07]: books and to spend time in god's word and that's really what we do every day here at point of

[00:19:05] [SPEAKER_05]: view every single day and i love the resources that are provided as well you've mentioned

[00:19:09] [SPEAKER_05]: articles already today that are available for folks to take a look at and as people call

[00:19:15] [SPEAKER_05]: 800-347-5151 and help continue the legacy of point of view we bring you wonderful guests like

[00:19:24] [SPEAKER_05]: kim till later on will have pennedexter in and and you've had some wonderful guests on already

[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_05]: kirby again many that you're not going to hear anywhere else but all talking about issues of our

[00:19:35] [SPEAKER_05]: culture the chaos in the culture and ultimately the truth that people need to hear and learn

[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_05]: that kim was just referring to the truth of god founded on god's word and folks can help us continue

[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_05]: that mission today 800-347-5151 i might just mention too we're going to take a break here boy come back

[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_07]: i want to talk to kim till about generosity and giving because that is certainly something she's

[00:19:59] [SPEAKER_07]: been involved with for four decades and certainly it is something we probably haven't done as much

[00:20:05] [SPEAKER_07]: talking about and certainly the impact impact that we want to have for all sorts of individuals

[00:20:11] [SPEAKER_07]: we recognize that we want you to support your church obviously if you're listening right now on a radio

[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_07]: station that raises its support don't bypass them as we've said before because they certainly

[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_07]: need your support but i hope that you will consider what we might do as well and you've

[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_07]: given us a goal today which i think is the first time i've heard you give a rather

[00:20:30] [SPEAKER_05]: substantial goal for thursday what is that again we do have a goal today it's about $50,000 if we

[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_05]: want to end up where we need to buy tomorrow we need to see a large day today a miracle kind of

[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_05]: day today $50,000 we did get a really good start today with a larger gift we'll tell you more about

[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_05]: that as the hour goes along but so many of you participating and we're thrilled with that

[00:20:53] [SPEAKER_05]: we'd love to see 10 gifts of $1,000 or more today and then just all these other gifts 30 a

[00:20:58] [SPEAKER_05]: month 50 a month 100 a month the one time gifts all important as well 800-347-5151

[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_07]: again if you go to the website you can find out more about dallas theological seminary also

[00:21:10] [SPEAKER_07]: we have a separate link to the 100 years dts celebrates 100 years of teaching truth

[00:21:16] [SPEAKER_07]: and loving well and we'll come back and talk a little bit longer with kim till but this is a

[00:22:57] [SPEAKER_06]: you are listening to point of view

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_06]: the opinions expressed on point of view do not necessarily reflect the views of the management

[00:23:08] [SPEAKER_06]: or staff of this station and now here again is curvy anderson back once again in just a few minutes

[00:23:15] [SPEAKER_07]: we're going to continue our conversation with the senior vice president for advancement

[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_07]: at dallas theological cemetery and that is kim till but i thought for just a minute calling you

[00:23:24] [SPEAKER_07]: give us an update because i have noticed a few people answering the phones yeah the phones are

[00:23:28] [SPEAKER_05]: ringing and i love that you know i would be remiss by the way if we don't mention that as we're

[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_05]: broadcasting right now a hurricane helene is pushing in on florida uh georgia south carolina

[00:23:41] [SPEAKER_05]: north carolina uh all that area not only have they already been experiencing rains but then

[00:23:47] [SPEAKER_05]: this hurricane coming through is just going to add to its own encourage you to be praying

[00:23:51] [SPEAKER_05]: for our friends and neighbors there and we've had so many of you from georgia and south carolina

[00:23:56] [SPEAKER_05]: north carolina and alabama giving gifts uh we are just grateful to you because we know this

[00:24:02] [SPEAKER_05]: thing is bearing down on you and uh some folks may not be able to give because of the storm so

[00:24:07] [SPEAKER_05]: we want to encourage you maybe you could take the place of someone who might not be able

[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_05]: to give but i want to do some thank yous real quick william in georgia 25 thank you rodney

[00:24:15] [SPEAKER_05]: in texas of $50 gift roger in south carolina 50 uh loel in mississippi $200 angela in south carolina

[00:24:24] [SPEAKER_05]: 200 chase in arizona $50 gift and mike in mississippi $100 a month that's one of those

[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_05]: thousand dollar gifts we are great for that looking for 10 gifts of $1,000 or more

[00:24:36] [SPEAKER_05]: and uh we are also looking today for a total of $50,000 that is where we need to be

[00:24:41] [SPEAKER_05]: so we hopefully can hit our $150,000 gold by friday $13,085 in so far today so we're doing pretty

[00:24:51] [SPEAKER_05]: well and uh you're helping us do that 800-347-5151 800-347-5151 kim till with the dallas theological

[00:25:01] [SPEAKER_07]: seminary but kim let me call upon you for a minute i know you're a native of florida

[00:25:05] [SPEAKER_07]: and so you like all of us have been watching that hurricane and i don't even know if you

[00:25:11] [SPEAKER_03]: still have family there no i don't but i you know every time i hear of a storm heading toward the

[00:25:17] [SPEAKER_03]: gulf i always make sure to see where it is because it still is home to me i'm a native of fort walton

[00:25:23] [SPEAKER_03]: beach which is right next to destin oh sure i think this storm's just we're for walton's just

[00:25:28] [SPEAKER_03]: a little bit to the uh to the west of it but um um yeah i always my heart always goes out to

[00:25:35] [SPEAKER_07]: everyone along that florida coast i didn't want to ask you a question about generosity you

[00:25:40] [SPEAKER_07]: have been involved in fundraising and charitable organizations for years there have been some great

[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_07]: books written about this and we've done some interviews with individuals but how are we doing

[00:25:50] [SPEAKER_07]: as a culture because it's certainly important for us to support these various charitable

[00:25:56] [SPEAKER_07]: organizations these mission organizations these bible colleges seminaries even christian radio

[00:26:01] [SPEAKER_07]: so can you give us an overview because i know you've been reading some of those articles

[00:26:05] [SPEAKER_07]: and books that have come out over the last couple of years you know you know when you really think

[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_03]: about it um when you give when you're generous you um you are jumping into a world of joy it's a

[00:26:21] [SPEAKER_03]: world of joy every i've in all the years that i've been encouraging people to give never have i

[00:26:29] [SPEAKER_03]: seen anyone who is giving something that is valuable to them to help a cause or a ministry

[00:26:36] [SPEAKER_03]: or a great purpose uh to be accomplished i mean anytime anybody does something like that they

[00:26:43] [SPEAKER_03]: experience joy it's a it's a world of just feeling like you're doing something that's

[00:26:48] [SPEAKER_03]: bigger than you are and i was just thinking a point of view and what a different point of view

[00:26:54] [SPEAKER_03]: is making uh in our culture today and i think sometimes we get so frustrated we think oh it's

[00:27:00] [SPEAKER_03]: all over there's nothing that can be done but yes we can when we give one one gift whatever we can

[00:27:07] [SPEAKER_03]: you know whatever level we can uh it it it makes us know that we have done one little part in

[00:27:16] [SPEAKER_03]: making something greater and achieving a greater result and uh and there you experience a joy it's

[00:27:24] [SPEAKER_03]: just a it's a wonderful world to be a part of and everybody can connect and uh and feel like you're

[00:27:31] [SPEAKER_03]: doing something that's going to outlive you one of the things i've always appreciated is doing

[00:27:36] [SPEAKER_07]: interviews with many of the faculty there at dallas theological seminary mentioned some of the

[00:27:41] [SPEAKER_07]: radio broadcasters but we could add to that of course daryl bach and many others and of course

[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_07]: you have a hindricks center there and i thought maybe for just a minute talk about that because

[00:27:51] [SPEAKER_07]: i know that your last couple of presidents whether it's mark bailey or of course mark garbore now

[00:27:56] [SPEAKER_07]: have really wanted to talk more about this idea of cultural engagement and that's kind of one

[00:28:01] [SPEAKER_07]: of the things we talk about here on point of view so what is the seminary doing in that regard

[00:28:07] [SPEAKER_03]: yes uh you know we're teaching the bible we're teaching the truth of god's word and

[00:28:12] [SPEAKER_03]: the as we all know the bible speaks very clearly uh into the issues of our day

[00:28:18] [SPEAKER_03]: into the things that are affecting us all in the culture where we live and so our

[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_03]: center that's named for a very beloved prof howard hindricks um is uh it we call it the

[00:28:32] [SPEAKER_03]: leadership center because they are are bringing in um leading experts uh on numbers of topics

[00:28:40] [SPEAKER_03]: that relate to our culture today and they're doing podcasts and they're doing conferences

[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_03]: and that will really help people be educated and to know what the bible says about it with

[00:28:53] [SPEAKER_03]: what our culture is saying about it and how they can speak into it how they can stand

[00:28:58] [SPEAKER_03]: how they can a lot of ministers come in and they want to know how do i lead my church you know how

[00:29:05] [SPEAKER_03]: do i answer the questions of our day and so our our Hendrick center is really trying to help people

[00:29:11] [SPEAKER_03]: and those in ministry know how to speak intelligently with truth but also to minister in love

[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_07]: one of the things i also love about uh dallas seminary and the professors is you really

[00:29:23] [SPEAKER_07]: bring a lot to the table in terms of experience i'm thinking of people like ron blue who's been a

[00:29:30] [SPEAKER_07]: missionary paul weaver who i first met when he was going to the word of life center there in

[00:29:38] [SPEAKER_07]: budapest hungry uh steven bramer by the way he goes over there as well as his son is over there

[00:29:43] [SPEAKER_07]: you have individuals that aren't just ivory tower academics that say well we hope this will work

[00:29:50] [SPEAKER_07]: if you're a pastor we hope this will work if you're a missionary they've bring sometimes just

[00:29:55] [SPEAKER_03]: years of experience into the classroom don't they oh absolutely i would say probably almost 100% of our

[00:30:02] [SPEAKER_03]: professors uh also uh do work if it's writing books speaking pastoring serving as leaders in

[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_03]: their church traveling around the world you know the summertime half of them are gone

[00:30:16] [SPEAKER_03]: they're out doing mission work they are doing research they are doing uh you know

[00:30:22] [SPEAKER_03]: bible translation bible preservation uh it's it's amazing that our faculty really walk the walk

[00:30:30] [SPEAKER_03]: they don't just teach in an ivory tower just before i let you go i think you might want to

[00:30:35] [SPEAKER_07]: tell our listeners that uh it is appropriate to support this ministry you and i've known each

[00:30:41] [SPEAKER_07]: other i guess literally for decades and certainly have appreciated the work you do at dallas

[00:30:45] [SPEAKER_07]: seminar but what would you say to listeners right now thinking about supporting point of view

[00:30:50] [SPEAKER_03]: hi i would just say jump in and do it experience the joy be be generous and and just feel like

[00:31:00] [SPEAKER_03]: you're plugging into what god is doing through point of view i mean just think of the impact

[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_03]: that your radio broadcast is is making uh in our country and around the world and uh and just the

[00:31:14] [SPEAKER_03]: that the truth is being broadcast that the the impact in our culture and we can all be a part

[00:31:20] [SPEAKER_03]: of that you know you think sometimes i can't do anything there's nothing i can do yes you can

[00:31:25] [SPEAKER_03]: every guest counts no matter what the amount and it it will truly make a difference in others lives

[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_03]: just by you stepping out in faith and and being part of something that's bigger than you are

[00:31:38] [SPEAKER_07]: well kim i appreciate the work that you do at the seminary and thank you so very much for

[00:31:42] [SPEAKER_03]: joining us today here on point of view i appreciate you so much kirby thank you for having me on

[00:31:48] [SPEAKER_07]: let me just mention too that um we have individuals right now answering the phones and i see some

[00:31:54] [SPEAKER_07]: people in the phones but i think some other individuals are available to take a phone call

[00:31:59] [SPEAKER_05]: right now that's right lines are open 803-47-5151 listener supported radio it's truth team week

[00:32:07] [SPEAKER_05]: we'd love for you to be part of truth team it's the last two days we're almost through the first

[00:32:12] [SPEAKER_05]: hour of day number four and then it's one more hour and then the two hours tomorrow and we're done so

[00:32:19] [SPEAKER_05]: we are in the final quarter if you will and it's uh important for each and every one of you to do

[00:32:24] [SPEAKER_05]: what you can as you are blessed by a ministry like point of view so take this opportunity to

[00:32:30] [SPEAKER_05]: bless this team they work so hard it's a small team that does more than you could imagine as

[00:32:36] [SPEAKER_05]: you look at the website as you listen to the broadcaster watch the videos this team works really

[00:32:43] [SPEAKER_05]: hard to bring you each and every day the truth from a biblical perspective on so many cultural

[00:32:51] [SPEAKER_05]: issues of our day and it's something that you can count on moving forward but again the

[00:32:57] [SPEAKER_05]: dollars we're asking for not for something extra or something special these are for daily

[00:33:02] [SPEAKER_05]: operational costs for this program to continue through the end of the year 150 000 dollars our

[00:33:09] [SPEAKER_05]: goal today we're already up at 13 500 dollars meaning we need about 37 000 dollars remaining

[00:33:17] [SPEAKER_05]: this afternoon and that's gifts of every size so we'd love to hear from you 803-47-5151

[00:33:24] [SPEAKER_07]: well take a break come back and maybe just mention again some of the gifts that we will

[00:33:28] [SPEAKER_07]: send to you hear from some of our listeners and somewhere along the line i want to hear from the

[00:33:32] [SPEAKER_07]: president of point of view warren kelly to give you an encouragement and an update but this is the

[00:33:38] [SPEAKER_07]: perfect time to call during the break 800 347 5151 and you can go to the website point of

[00:33:46] [SPEAKER_06]: view dot net we'll be right back point of view finding clarity in the chaos i think it's

[00:34:02] [SPEAKER_04]: essential that we support christian voices faithful voices like point of view like yours

[00:34:10] [SPEAKER_04]: because we need them we really need them in an era where like the the landscape is so crowded

[00:34:17] [SPEAKER_04]: with voices of bad faith frankly people who are trying to hijack our faith for partisan

[00:34:24] [SPEAKER_04]: ends and other i think own other ends other than the gospel both on the left and the right

[00:34:30] [SPEAKER_04]: and so what i so value curbie about your voice is that you are really looking out for the best

[00:34:35] [SPEAKER_04]: interest of your listeners from the vantage point of true fidelity to jesus and we really need more

[00:34:42] [SPEAKER_04]: of those voices and so i really want to encourage anybody that's listening uh to support this this

[00:34:48] [SPEAKER_04]: is out of all the various places that i do conversations and video interviews of course

[00:34:54] [SPEAKER_04]: curbie honestly i'm not saying this just because you're you're in the middle of trying to

[00:34:57] [SPEAKER_04]: build your truth but yours is always one of my favorites because you do the research you've

[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_04]: all what you're always prepared and the conversations are really productive and fruitful and that's

[00:35:06] [SPEAKER_04]: rare in today's media environment and so i really do want to encourage listeners to please

[00:35:12] [SPEAKER_04]: strengthen the the um the ecosystem of good truthful responsible voices we need them

[00:35:20] [SPEAKER_04]: if you are a regular listener to curbie please support that work because that's the only

[00:35:25] [SPEAKER_06]: way that we get the right voices out there finding clarity in the chaos point of view

[00:35:31] [SPEAKER_07]: kurtis chang is on with us earlier in the week and again we encourage you to find out a little

[00:35:36] [SPEAKER_07]: bit more about the podcast videos and other resources there as well of course in studio with me is

[00:35:42] [SPEAKER_07]: callin lambart i will give you a preview that we will have penned extra in studio and just a

[00:35:48] [SPEAKER_07]: little bit of actually next hour and we'll be talking about some really important issues in

[00:35:52] [SPEAKER_07]: the news and those will be almost a preview of what we'll be talking about on friday with our

[00:35:57] [SPEAKER_07]: weekend edition but first of all we have a few thank yous we do and in fact uh you might remember

[00:36:01] [SPEAKER_05]: just a few minutes ago curbie i said we were looking for 10 gifts of a thousand dollars we just got

[00:36:06] [SPEAKER_05]: our third thousand dollar gift from an in georgia so an thank you so much for that thousand

[00:36:12] [SPEAKER_05]: dollar gift also heard from thomas in south carolina with a hundred dollar gift donna in

[00:36:16] [SPEAKER_05]: ohio with a fifty dollar gift and vicki in south carolina with a one hundred dollar gift

[00:36:21] [SPEAKER_05]: again every gift matters but you know i always flashback i don't know why i guess i was in a

[00:36:26] [SPEAKER_05]: church that did a lot of building campaigns i always kind of flashback to the building

[00:36:30] [SPEAKER_05]: campaign you have this foundation of people giving the five the ten the twenty the

[00:36:35] [SPEAKER_05]: fifty dollar gifts the one hundred dollar gifts then you've got this group of people who

[00:36:39] [SPEAKER_05]: are giving at kind of that medium level but you can't ever finish one of those campaigns

[00:36:44] [SPEAKER_05]: without people giving some of those larger gifts as well and what i love to see

[00:36:48] [SPEAKER_05]: even in the names i just gave we have people who've given a fifty dollar gift one time

[00:36:53] [SPEAKER_05]: and someone that's given a thousand dollar gift so it doesn't matter the size of the gift

[00:36:57] [SPEAKER_05]: it's really about participation everybody doing something if you're benefiting from the work

[00:37:03] [SPEAKER_05]: ministry of point of view we need you as part of the truth team 803-475-151 16620 dollars in so far

[00:37:15] [SPEAKER_05]: so we're down to 33,000 to go today and again if you can be a part call right now 803-475151

[00:37:24] [SPEAKER_05]: 800-347-5151 or click in online at pointofview.net

[00:37:33] [SPEAKER_06]: point of view finding clarity in the chaos i don't get to listen to it every day

[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_02]: but when i do get to listen to it when i'm driving and stuff it's very very education i mean i've

[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_02]: learned a lot this program and i've learned a lot on friday's round table i mean i just learned

[00:37:52] [SPEAKER_02]: a lot and it's just i'm so grateful for it because there's just you know i'm i'm upping it

[00:38:00] [SPEAKER_02]: because there isn't enough out there for us people that you know i mean i mean i i don't know

[00:38:07] [SPEAKER_02]: there's just so much information out there that you guys have had given the little booklets i don't

[00:38:12] [SPEAKER_02]: read them all when i get them but i do have them and read which ones are you know i don't

[00:38:18] [SPEAKER_02]: know i just and i enjoyed curbie so well he's very good for now but it is by far the most

[00:38:25] [SPEAKER_01]: correct factual christian-based program i think curbie is one of the best if not the best interviewer

[00:38:34] [SPEAKER_01]: the guests you have are excellent they're articulate and he is a great listener to those

[00:38:41] [SPEAKER_01]: people that he talks to on the phone whether it's a a listener or whether it's a guest so i

[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_01]: appreciate that very much about him you have a good staff as well i wish that everybody would

[00:38:54] [SPEAKER_01]: contribute we desperately need his voice there's so few out there finding clarity in the chaos

[00:39:01] [SPEAKER_07]: point of view very nice comments from some of our listeners and again you mentioned just a few

[00:39:07] [SPEAKER_07]: minutes ago calling that of course we have a hurricane people are watching and also just

[00:39:12] [SPEAKER_07]: want to say thank you to the people that have given because i recognize first of all we have a

[00:39:15] [SPEAKER_07]: down economy by the way if you've ever had any doubts about that my commentary today actually

[00:39:21] [SPEAKER_07]: shows these graphs and i showed them to you just a few minutes ago comparing the median

[00:39:27] [SPEAKER_07]: income growth for the various ethnic groups white black asian hispanic under say biden and

[00:39:35] [SPEAKER_07]: before that under trump and the fact is that we are dealing with a very down economy and a lot

[00:39:40] [SPEAKER_07]: of people are struggling in the midst of this we also have an election so some people maybe

[00:39:45] [SPEAKER_07]: have given in ways that they would normally give to their church or to christian organizations to

[00:39:50] [SPEAKER_07]: christian radio because they are giving and supporting a candidate and then there's just

[00:39:55] [SPEAKER_07]: this incredible uncertainty one of the things i've learned is i've gotten more into the

[00:39:59] [SPEAKER_07]: economic issues we talk about here on point of view when there's so much uncertainty you

[00:40:04] [SPEAKER_07]: know what people don't invest in the stock market people don't give to ministries and the

[00:40:09] [SPEAKER_07]: rest so i want to just again say thank you to those of you that have given and at the

[00:40:14] [SPEAKER_07]: same time for those of you that have not will this if you will be counterculture to some of that

[00:40:19] [SPEAKER_07]: because there are certainly very important to giving principles which we will be talking about

[00:40:25] [SPEAKER_07]: we're even thinking about doing a new outlook on that because there are some great books and

[00:40:29] [SPEAKER_07]: articles over the years that have written about how again god has blessed so dramatically

[00:40:34] [SPEAKER_07]: christians that have stepped out on faith and we all have stories about that but those are

[00:40:39] [SPEAKER_07]: encouraging as well and you and jenna over the last couple days have quoted some key

[00:40:44] [SPEAKER_07]: verses that are remind us of that as well so let me just say thank you to those of you that have

[00:40:49] [SPEAKER_07]: given but as i look up we actually have the quiet phones again situation and so there are

[00:40:55] [SPEAKER_07]: some people looking at the phones waiting for them to ring right now you know one other thing

[00:40:59] [SPEAKER_05]: we haven't mentioned and i think is worth mentioning we've had some faithful givers to

[00:41:04] [SPEAKER_05]: point of view for many years who for some reason this year are just not able to get it could be

[00:41:09] [SPEAKER_05]: tied to the economy we know that would be done tied to an illness could be tied to moving

[00:41:15] [SPEAKER_05]: somewhere and the expenses involved with that maybe you're in a position where you could give

[00:41:21] [SPEAKER_05]: your gift and maybe given additional gift in place of someone that we know this year is

[00:41:26] [SPEAKER_05]: not going to be able to make that pledge and again making the word pledge forefront for a

[00:41:33] [SPEAKER_05]: moment you don't have to have all the money today really it's what you feel like the lord

[00:41:37] [SPEAKER_05]: encouraging you to give pray about it ask him what you should give and then call and give

[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_05]: that it can be broken down over 12 months so if you can't give it all today spread it out

[00:41:47] [SPEAKER_05]: and let me tell you i have no connections with the mafia no one's coming to your home to

[00:41:51] [SPEAKER_05]: knock on the door and say you didn't give your gift that just doesn't happen we want

[00:41:56] [SPEAKER_05]: this to be between you and the lord and you decide what's best with him on what to give

[00:42:00] [SPEAKER_05]: and then you call and we're going to rejoice in that because we love cheerful givers and we love

[00:42:05] [SPEAKER_05]: to see what god is going to do in this ministry through your gifts 800-347-5151 800-347-5151

[00:42:17] [SPEAKER_07]: you know kim till talked about the joy that you give would you give and the joy that you get

[00:42:22] [SPEAKER_07]: when you give and of course you talked about hilarious and cheerful of course that goes back

[00:42:26] [SPEAKER_07]: to second chrysian's the idea that god really wants us to be a cheerful giver and there is a sense

[00:42:33] [SPEAKER_07]: in which we certainly benefit when we give and so let me mention again that as you go to the

[00:42:38] [SPEAKER_07]: website point of view dot net there are certainly opportunities for us to give back to you as well

[00:42:44] [SPEAKER_07]: there are various gifts at the level 30 dollars a month 50 dollars a month 100 dollars a month

[00:42:50] [SPEAKER_07]: so you can check those out as well by just clicking on the button that says join join now
