Point of View September 24, 2024 – Hour 1 : Prestonwood Biblical Worldview Conference

[00:00:04] [SPEAKER_07]: News of the United States

[00:00:04] [SPEAKER_07]: Across America

[00:00:06] [SPEAKER_04]: Live Tuesday edition of Point of View

[00:00:22] [SPEAKER_04]: and just a few hours ago you have the President of the United States, Joe Biden, actually addressing the United Nations

[00:00:29] [SPEAKER_04]: his last and final address before the UN

[00:00:33] [SPEAKER_04]: and I thought it would be appropriate for just a minute to kind of reflect on that

[00:00:36] [SPEAKER_04]: Our first article here is entitled

[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_04]: Biden leaves his successor a world of disorder

[00:00:43] [SPEAKER_04]: and it is written by the editors of the Wall Street Journal

[00:00:46] [SPEAKER_04]: They say President Biden will address the United Nations today

[00:00:49] [SPEAKER_04]: in what was likely to be his last big moment on the world stage

[00:00:53] [SPEAKER_04]: A President's foreign policy legacy typically outlasts his term

[00:00:58] [SPEAKER_04]: so it's worth taking that step back

[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_04]: and considering the world that Mr. Biden has left to his successor

[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_04]: whoever that might be whether it's Kamala Harris or certainly Donald Trump

[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_04]: It is a far more dangerous world than Mr. Biden inherited

[00:01:12] [SPEAKER_04]: a far less congenial one for US interest, human freedom and democracy

[00:01:18] [SPEAKER_04]: The latter is tragically ironic since the President made the global contest between democracy and authoritarianism

[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_04]: and a Biden theme

[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_04]: The editors go on and talk about six major points

[00:01:30] [SPEAKER_04]: I'll just give you a few but one they talk about

[00:01:33] [SPEAKER_04]: and this has certainly been something a part of the campaign

[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_04]: The chaotic withdrawal by the President and the administration from Afghanistan

[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_04]: which was his single most damaging decision they said

[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_04]: but more than that the damaging message it sent to adversaries

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_04]: that the United States will eventually retreat

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_04]: and that I think is great concern as well

[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_04]: They go on to say there's another one and that is his record in the Middle East is worse

[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_04]: rather than build on the Abraham Accords which he inherited from Donald Trump

[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_04]: He tried to ostracize Saudi Arabia banned offensive weapons to fight the Houthis and a number of others

[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_04]: Of course the United States was caught as was Israel flat footed when Hamas

[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_04]: aided by Iran invaded Israel and massacred 1200 innocents

[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_04]: We're going to be talking about a little of that tomorrow

[00:02:24] [SPEAKER_04]: but even this afternoon in the second hour

[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_04]: and of course the issue is that you have of course a battle that Israel has with Gaza

[00:02:32] [SPEAKER_04]: to the Southwest with Hezbollah to the North

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_04]: and the Houthis as they say have almost shut down western commercial shipping

[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_04]: around the Red Sea

[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Final couple other comments they make

[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_04]: The record in Asia Pacific is marginally better at least diplomatically

[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_04]: Closer to home, Venezuela's dictator has predictably stolen another election

[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_04]: exposing the Biden administration's deal to ease oil sanctions as being naive

[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_04]: and most ominous they say is the collaboration of these menacing regional powers

[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_04]: into a anti-western axis

[00:03:08] [SPEAKER_04]: Iran supplies missiles and drones to Moscow

[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_04]: which may be supplying nuclear know-how to Tehran

[00:03:15] [SPEAKER_04]: China is aiding Moscow which now joins Beijing and naval maneuvers

[00:03:20] [SPEAKER_04]: North Korea also arms Moscow while being protected by China from the United Nations sanctions

[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_04]: it once voted for

[00:03:27] [SPEAKER_04]: It is a mess and as a result that's one of the reasons why even in the second hour today

[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_04]: we're going to be talking with Ken Terminem

[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_04]: and then tomorrow we'll also be talking about that in our first hour interview

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_04]: with Gary Frazier especially as we talk about what is happening in Israel

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_04]: but if you've been with us so far you know that this is the second day of our truth team week

[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_04]: you also know that we bring in for this Colin Lambert

[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Colin how are you doing today?

[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_06]: It's great to be with you again today very excited about truth team week

[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_06]: and you know just sitting here listening to you get the show started

[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_06]: it's a reminder Kirby of the wonderful work of Point of View each and every day

[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_06]: sometimes I think people say where do I get my news

[00:04:08] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't trust the television news anymore

[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't trust what I hear even maybe in some of the publications that are out in the country

[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_06]: or online locations

[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_06]: Point of View you can trust it's built on a biblical foundation

[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_06]: and it doesn't matter what the topic is even as you mentioned at the very beginning of the show every day

[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_06]: all the myriad of topics that you cover

[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_06]: you're doing it from a biblical perspective and this is really news that you can trust

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_06]: and I just want to thank you for what you're doing on a daily basis

[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_06]: but also thrilled to be here because this week being truth team week

[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_06]: we have an opportunity for some of our friends and loved ones here that are part of this ministry

[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_06]: have been maybe for a long time or maybe a short period of time to help us

[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_06]: raise the funds necessary to continue this incredible ministry called Point of View

[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_04]: and again I might just mention that we've had some people ask if you would give the number slowly

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_04]: so we will do that

[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_04]: one ask do we have a tax deduction from this

[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_04]: the other day I had someone interesting enough call and ask

[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_04]: is a Point of View 501c3 and I go yeah for 52 years yes but again sometimes people want to know that

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_04]: and that's the case and we're members of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability

[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_04]: and we'll talk a little bit later with Jenna Weidler who's the vice president of stewardship

[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_04]: talking about how in many cases we work really hard

[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_04]: matter of fact in most cases work very hard to try to squeeze as much out of the

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_04]: financial resources that we are having our hands but let me just mention that as we've talked about before

[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_04]: you can join at all sorts of different levels and you might want to talk about that because

[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_04]: one of the things I always like to hold up for those watching online is our Outlet Newsletter here

[00:05:52] [SPEAKER_04]: which we make available to individuals that join at the lowest level or course the booklets

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_04]: and we have a number of other things to talk about so what are some of the giving levels

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_06]: yeah so that $30 giving level $30 a month you will receive the biblical view

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_06]: booklets that Kirby was just talking about those are out every month and they're

[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_06]: all kinds of wonderful topics anything that's happening in the world you're going to find a booklet about it

[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_06]: now if you go to the $50 a month level added to that is the snazzy, yazzy water bottle

[00:06:24] [SPEAKER_06]: and it is the point of view logo on it so I want to encourage you if you are utilizing that

[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_06]: that $50 level you're going to receive the booklets and the water bottle and then at the $100 level

[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_06]: you're going to get the magazine you're going to get the booklets you're going to get the snazzy,

[00:06:42] [SPEAKER_06]: yazzy water bottle and you're going to get these two books from Kirby Anderson and they're going to be signed

[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_06]: and so this is just another way of us saying thank you for giving to Truth Team Week

[00:06:53] [SPEAKER_06]: you really can make a difference this is a listener supported ministry it's a not-for-profit as Kirby was just talking about

[00:07:00] [SPEAKER_06]: and I want to encourage you to be apart so many yesterday got involved so many more we need today

[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_06]: our goal for the entire week $150,000 it's a big goal but it's needed to continue the operations

[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_06]: we'll be hearing more about that from Jenna a little later but right now I can tell you the phone number

[00:07:18] [SPEAKER_06]: that's the easiest way to get engaged 800-347-5151

[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_06]: 800-347-5151 you can also go online to pointofview.net big banner there that says Biblical Clarity

[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_06]: and Cultural Chaos and you click on that Kirby it just takes a couple of minutes fill it out

[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_06]: save secure and a great way to help us get started on this Tuesday as I've said before

[00:07:44] [SPEAKER_04]: don't ask you do something I haven't done and I certainly have supported this ministry as well

[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_04]: and I've gone online to do that and plan to do that as well and we certainly need to hear from you

[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_04]: as we're going to a break I'd like to hopefully would get five phone calls during that particular segment

[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_04]: and you might say well what's coming up next well we're gonna have Jonathan Teague with us

[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_04]: he's the senior associate pastor Preston Wood they just had a Biblical World View conference

[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_04]: which has involved a number of people including Lee Strobo who'll be with us tomorrow

[00:08:10] [SPEAKER_04]: so we'll be talking about that as well and we'll also talk about what he is a pastor is doing

[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_04]: and what pastors maybe could be doing to educate people about the election

[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_04]: and about voting and those kinds of things but again I know you don't want to miss some of the conversation

[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_04]: with him so that's a perfect time to call right now the number is 1-800-347-5151

[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_04]: of course you can go to the website pointofview.net

[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Colin Lambert with me in just a minute we're going to be talking with Jonathan Teague

[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_04]: and we will be back right after this

[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_07]: This is Viewpoints with Kirby Anderson

[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_04]: When was the last time you had a meaningful conversation?

[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_04]: That is a question Sean McDowell and Tim Mulehoff ask in their new book

[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_04]: and the stalemate move past cancel culture to meaningful conversations

[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_04]: We live in a cancel culture but that doesn't mean we must either conform or remain silent

[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_04]: nearly a third of people report that they have stopped talking to a friend or family member

[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_04]: due to a disagreement and nearly two-thirds of people saying that they stay quiet about their beliefs

[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_04]: due to the fear of offending others

[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_04]: We can bring light to the darkness

[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_04]: We can also be a beacon of sanity that promotes meaningful conversations

[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Sean was on my radio program to talk about the book

[00:09:37] [SPEAKER_04]: His first five chapters help set the stage

[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_04]: How do we get to this place?

[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_04]: It explains that there has been a perfect storm of factors

[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_04]: One, people are hurting

[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Two, there's a clash of worldviews

[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Three, opinions are openly expressed on social media

[00:09:51] [SPEAKER_04]: And four, there's communication breakdown

[00:09:54] [SPEAKER_04]: That is why we are angry and divided

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_04]: The authors then provide six chapters with practical tips for engaging others

[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_04]: We learn how to engage explosive issues

[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_04]: We can also create connection and emotional awareness

[00:10:06] [SPEAKER_04]: There are also suggestions on how to engage in perspective taking

[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_04]: How to structure a conversation

[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_04]: And how to speak the truth and love from a biblical understanding

[00:10:16] [SPEAKER_04]: There's also a helpful section on presenting the other side using strawman and steelman arguments

[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_04]: A strawman argument comes from paraphrasing an argument in the weakest possible way

[00:10:26] [SPEAKER_04]: A steelman argument is to consider the best and strongest argument

[00:10:30] [SPEAKER_04]: If we wish to have a meaningful dialogue

[00:10:32] [SPEAKER_04]: We shouldn't minimize the other person's opinion and perspective

[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_04]: We need to apply the lessons of this book so that we can end this stalemate

[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm Kirby Anderson, and that's my Point of View

[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_07]: For a pre-booklet on a biblical view on big data

[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_07]: Go to viewpoints.info slash data

[00:10:53] [SPEAKER_07]: That's viewpoints.info slash data

[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_07]: Point of view, finding clarity in the chaos

[00:11:03] [SPEAKER_03]: My name is Jeremy Dyson

[00:11:05] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm special counsel for litigation and communications at First Liberty Institute

[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Point of view really provides a way for us to sit down and think through

[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, the news of the day that concerns us every day

[00:11:14] [SPEAKER_03]: That people yell at each other on TV

[00:11:17] [SPEAKER_03]: How do we think through these things and then exercise our vote accordingly?

[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Or how do we train our children in these things?

[00:11:24] [SPEAKER_03]: No one should ever think that they are beyond the ability to influence somebody else

[00:11:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Never discount the importance that little seeds of faith are sown in the lives of others

[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_03]: How that will germinate and bloom and grow into something even better than that

[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_03]: What is called upon on all of our lives is to be simply faithful in the world that God has put us in

[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_03]: And so all of us have a mission, all of us have a purpose in our lives

[00:11:47] [SPEAKER_03]: I think Point of View just simply comes alongside of that mission and says here

[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Here's a way to think through these issues as you go back into your world

[00:11:53] [SPEAKER_03]: And live faithfully within it

[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Finding clarity in the chaos

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Point of view

[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_04]: Colin Lambert in studio with me

[00:12:03] [SPEAKER_04]: And of course we were just hearing from Jeremy Dice

[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_04]: Who is of course with First Liberty Institute and is a lawyer

[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_04]: And you know it was interesting Colin yesterday

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_04]: We had Bunny Pounds in here reminding me

[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_04]: I forgot that she first started hearing Point of View when she was in high school

[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_04]: If you think that makes me feel old

[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_04]: Jeremy told me that he first started listening to Point of View when he was in middle school

[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_04]: When he was sort of forced to in the van

[00:12:27] [SPEAKER_04]: While his mom was listening to Point of View

[00:12:30] [SPEAKER_04]: While they were waiting for his sister to finish her music lesson

[00:12:34] [SPEAKER_04]: So in some respects when we talk about Point of View being around for 52 years

[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_04]: There is an incredible legacy there

[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_04]: And so again we're encouraging people to pay it forward

[00:12:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Individuals that have benefited now

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_04]: And even in the past from Point of View

[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_04]: There are others that will benefit because of your gift

[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_06]: I just love that story as well

[00:12:54] [SPEAKER_06]: So many children being educated as their parents are listening to Point of View

[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_06]: So I think that's a great thing

[00:13:01] [SPEAKER_06]: Again here's the number 800-347-5151

[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_06]: We'd love to hear from you

[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_06]: Let me just do a couple of quick thank yous

[00:13:08] [SPEAKER_06]: Then we can go to our guest, Kathleen in Georgia

[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_06]: A gift of $30 a month

[00:13:12] [SPEAKER_06]: Thank you for that Karen in Minnesota

[00:13:14] [SPEAKER_06]: A gift of $50

[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_06]: David in North Carolina

[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_06]: A $500 gift

[00:13:18] [SPEAKER_06]: Those are just a few that have come in recently

[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_06]: Would you add your name to that list?

[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_06]: 800-347-5151

[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_06]: Let's hear from you

[00:13:26] [SPEAKER_04]: Let's talk about what churches can do

[00:13:28] [SPEAKER_04]: And so we bring back to the microphone Dr. Jonathan Teague

[00:13:31] [SPEAKER_04]: He is the senior associate pastor at Prestonwood Baptist Church

[00:13:35] [SPEAKER_04]: An incredible communicator

[00:13:37] [SPEAKER_04]: He also provides leadership for what's called the Prestonwood Network

[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Which is a network of churches around the country

[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_04]: A graduate of Harvard and Simmons

[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_04]: Received his master's degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary

[00:13:48] [SPEAKER_04]: Has his doctorate from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary

[00:13:52] [SPEAKER_04]: And Jonathan Teague, welcome back to Point of View

[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_05]: Well Kirby, it is great to be with you my friend

[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_04]: You have been involved

[00:14:00] [SPEAKER_04]: And the whole church has been involved

[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_04]: In what is called a Biblical World View Conference

[00:14:05] [SPEAKER_04]: And matter of fact one of those speakers will be with us tomorrow

[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_04]: Lee Strobel

[00:14:09] [SPEAKER_04]: But I thought for just a minute you might speak to that

[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_04]: Because this conference has now been put together

[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_04]: By you and Jeremiah Johnson and others

[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_04]: Is the nation's largest apologetics conference

[00:14:20] [SPEAKER_04]: And it's a goal of educating students, educators and parents

[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_04]: And I think it's a model for what any church around the country could do

[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Can you speak to that?

[00:14:30] [SPEAKER_05]: Well happy to and we are winding it down today

[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Here at our Plano location at Prestonwood

[00:14:35] [SPEAKER_05]: And we're so pleased Kirby and as you mentioned

[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_05]: I was just with Dr. Johnson a few moments ago

[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_05]: And our entire team at Preston Christian Academy

[00:14:42] [SPEAKER_05]: And our church and it really has been on our pastor

[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Dr. Graham's heart for a number of years

[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_05]: As you know for the church and for ministry

[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_05]: And for pastors and for leaders to speak into the realities

[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_05]: Of the culture and to do all we can

[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_05]: To shine the light of the gospel, to highlight, emphasize

[00:14:58] [SPEAKER_05]: And explain truth not only to believers

[00:15:01] [SPEAKER_05]: But to an unbelieving world as well

[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_05]: And so of course we see so much going on in the chaos

[00:15:08] [SPEAKER_05]: In our culture especially for our younger people

[00:15:10] [SPEAKER_05]: Gen Z of course I know Kirby how passionate you are

[00:15:13] [SPEAKER_05]: About young adults and millennials

[00:15:15] [SPEAKER_05]: And others in our culture understanding a good

[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Faithful biblical apologetic to look to the world

[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_05]: And look through the lens of the scripture into their world view

[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_05]: So that's what it is, it's a biblical world view conference

[00:15:28] [SPEAKER_05]: We unapologetically shine the brightest lights possibly

[00:15:30] [SPEAKER_05]: That we can using speakers from all over the world

[00:15:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Dozens of breakout speakers I was honored to be one of those

[00:15:37] [SPEAKER_05]: The last couple of days my kids are there participating in it

[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_05]: And that's the whole design we want the next generation

[00:15:42] [SPEAKER_05]: To understand what it means to walk in a biblical world view

[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_05]: To live it out in their life, in their future workplace

[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_05]: Their family life and their local churches

[00:15:50] [SPEAKER_05]: Because we believe that is part of God's plan for how

[00:15:53] [SPEAKER_05]: We're going to win the world through the gospel message of Jesus

[00:15:56] [SPEAKER_04]: Let me just mention that we do have a link to that

[00:16:00] [SPEAKER_04]: Prestonwoodworldview.org

[00:16:01] [SPEAKER_04]: You can go directly to that or find the link

[00:16:03] [SPEAKER_04]: And I thought it was interesting Colin because

[00:16:06] [SPEAKER_04]: The speakers are Jack Graham and Jeremiah Johnston

[00:16:09] [SPEAKER_04]: Lee Strobelkurs Jonathan Teague

[00:16:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Ali Bestucky used to be one of our millennial round table people

[00:16:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Sean McDowell, Lisa Childers, Justin Birely

[00:16:17] [SPEAKER_04]: Peter J. Williams, Jonathan Morrow

[00:16:19] [SPEAKER_04]: These are all people that have been on point of view

[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_04]: So in some respects they are taking the material

[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_04]: That we've tried to cover over the years

[00:16:26] [SPEAKER_04]: And giving you a chance to meet some of those people

[00:16:29] [SPEAKER_04]: Face to face but that's why I think this is so important

[00:16:32] [SPEAKER_04]: To join venture with churches and radio

[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_04]: And other places to really bring about an understanding

[00:16:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Of what a Christian worldview is all about

[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_06]: It's one of the things I love about point of view Kirby

[00:16:44] [SPEAKER_06]: And the partnerships that you establish and Jonathan

[00:16:47] [SPEAKER_06]: As well through his church and the conference

[00:16:51] [SPEAKER_06]: And the work that they're doing

[00:16:52] [SPEAKER_06]: Bringing the most recent up-to-date information

[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_06]: And then that biblical worldview that Jonathan

[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Was just talking about how key that is

[00:17:02] [SPEAKER_06]: To what we're doing and it's about that education process

[00:17:05] [SPEAKER_06]: Education, information and it's all things that you can trust

[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_06]: And it's found on the website, it's found through these partnerships

[00:17:11] [SPEAKER_06]: And Kirby you and your team do such a great job

[00:17:14] [SPEAKER_06]: Every single day of making sure that this is available for people

[00:17:17] [SPEAKER_06]: So as you're listening to Kirby and to Jonathan today

[00:17:21] [SPEAKER_06]: I want to encourage you don't wait, don't give up today

[00:17:25] [SPEAKER_06]: There's only four days remaining in this Truth Team Week

[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_06]: 800-347-5151

[00:17:34] [SPEAKER_06]: To get involved in this very important ministry

[00:17:37] [SPEAKER_04]: I thought Jonathan for just a minute you might even talk about

[00:17:40] [SPEAKER_04]: The importance of point of view because you've been on this program

[00:17:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Many times before and Colin you've not met a busy person

[00:17:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Until you met Jonathan Teague, you know

[00:17:48] [SPEAKER_04]: It sometimes is even hard to get him in the studio

[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_04]: He's not sitting around looking for more to do

[00:17:53] [SPEAKER_04]: And vice-y's been on with Dr. Dobbs and others

[00:17:56] [SPEAKER_04]: And Jonathan you might speak to that for just a minute

[00:17:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Because there are a lot of things you could be doing

[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_04]: But you have actually tried as best as you can

[00:18:04] [SPEAKER_04]: With a very busy schedule to carve out time to sometimes be on the program

[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_04]: So why is it important for people to listen to point of view?

[00:18:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Well I don't laugh, I would be gladly sitting in the studio with you guys right now

[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_05]: But we had a car malfunction issue this morning

[00:18:19] [SPEAKER_05]: And that's life isn't it

[00:18:21] [SPEAKER_05]: But man I tell you what Kirby is I think about

[00:18:23] [SPEAKER_05]: What you do and the ministry of point of view

[00:18:26] [SPEAKER_05]: It just always blesses me first and foremost your faithfulness

[00:18:30] [SPEAKER_05]: And answer your question why am I so passionate about being a partner with you

[00:18:35] [SPEAKER_05]: And why I would challenge and encourage your audience today

[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_05]: To consider a greater level of partnership participation than ever before

[00:18:42] [SPEAKER_05]: Really is because of your passion, your enthusiasm

[00:18:45] [SPEAKER_05]: And you and your team's commitment to help people

[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_05]: Have a fully formed biblical worldview

[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_05]: And to speak into the culture and the realities of our day

[00:18:53] [SPEAKER_05]: Through a gospel centered perspective

[00:18:55] [SPEAKER_05]: And you do it with such a robust catalog of details information

[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm personally encouraged by it

[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_05]: And I would just say to all of your listeners

[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_05]: You know go all in with what Kirby and the team are doing

[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_05]: And this is the week, this is the day to make those commitments

[00:19:09] [SPEAKER_05]: And so much more because you'll be better for it

[00:19:12] [SPEAKER_05]: Your family, your ministry, your church, your business life

[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_05]: Just your personal devotional life

[00:19:16] [SPEAKER_05]: It'll be better the more you participate with this incredible team

[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Okay let's hear what some other people have to say

[00:19:26] [SPEAKER_07]: Point of view, finding clarity in the chaos

[00:19:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Wasn't until COVID struck when I started isolating myself

[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_01]: That I even knew about Point of view

[00:19:38] [SPEAKER_01]: It might have been most of the radio stations now that I listened to

[00:19:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Faithfully, I had never paid any attention to the performance

[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Because I didn't listen to radio

[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_01]: And now that I do, I'm thinking

[00:19:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Why has not been doing this all along?

[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I've just been so richly blessed

[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_01]: And with your program

[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_01]: So powerfully informed with the truth

[00:20:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Because you just can't trust the normal media

[00:20:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Nothing but falsehoods and half truths and whatever

[00:20:11] [SPEAKER_01]: But when I'm listening to Point of view

[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I know I'm getting God's truth in all of it

[00:20:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Because I don't have to try to be discerning so much

[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_01]: I know what I'm getting

[00:20:23] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's a comfort to know that

[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_01]: You don't have to try to wonder

[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Is this right or is this right?

[00:20:30] [SPEAKER_01]: I have a Holy Spirit confidence in what I hear from your program

[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm so thankful and so appreciative of that

[00:20:38] [SPEAKER_01]: This is a little thing that I can do

[00:20:41] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm just so glad that you blessed me that I can bless you

[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_07]: Finding clarity in the chaos

[00:20:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Point of view

[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_04]: Let's take a break when we come back

[00:20:50] [SPEAKER_04]: I want to talk with Jonathan Teague about how to

[00:20:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Encourage pastors and churches to educate their congregation

[00:20:55] [SPEAKER_04]: About this upcoming election

[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_04]: We are encouraging people right now

[00:21:00] [SPEAKER_04]: To actually go to the phones

[00:21:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Because there will be a break

[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_04]: And they can actually make that phone call

[00:21:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Let's make that phone call right now

[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_04]: See if we can get to ten phone calls during the break

[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_04]: And then we'll be back with Jonathan Teague

[00:21:27] [SPEAKER_04]: Right after this

[00:21:55] [SPEAKER_07]: By joining the truth team

[00:21:57] [SPEAKER_07]: You will give Americans information they can trust

[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_07]: About the election, the candidates, the issues

[00:22:04] [SPEAKER_07]: And you'll give them the resources to act

[00:22:07] [SPEAKER_07]: People know that the nation is in trouble

[00:22:10] [SPEAKER_07]: And your action today will help them see the solutions clearly

[00:22:14] [SPEAKER_07]: And make a difference

[00:22:16] [SPEAKER_07]: This week we need to raise $150,000

[00:22:20] [SPEAKER_07]: To equip Americans to think clearly

[00:22:23] [SPEAKER_07]: Amid the chaos of the election and beyond

[00:22:26] [SPEAKER_07]: Help us reach this goal by joining the truth team today

[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_07]: Join at PointOfView.net

[00:22:34] [SPEAKER_07]: Or call 1-800-347-5151

[00:22:38] [SPEAKER_07]: That's PointOfView.net

[00:22:41] [SPEAKER_07]: And 1-800-347-5151

[00:22:47] [SPEAKER_07]: Point of view will continue after this

[00:22:51] [SPEAKER_07]: You are listening to PointOfView

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_07]: The opinions expressed on PointOfView

[00:23:05] [SPEAKER_07]: Do not necessarily reflect the views of the management

[00:23:08] [SPEAKER_07]: Or staff of this station

[00:23:09] [SPEAKER_07]: And now here again is Kirby Anderson

[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_04]: Back once again, of course it is the second day

[00:23:15] [SPEAKER_04]: Of truth team week

[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_04]: And we have in studio with us Colin Lambert

[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Jonathan Teague by phone

[00:23:20] [SPEAKER_04]: And first of all Colin just give us an update

[00:23:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Where are we at the moment?

[00:23:24] [SPEAKER_06]: Well we have got a number of gifts coming in

[00:23:27] [SPEAKER_06]: From across the country

[00:23:28] [SPEAKER_06]: Just got a call from Peggy in Georgia

[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_06]: She gave a $50 gift

[00:23:32] [SPEAKER_06]: We heard from Tim in Alaska

[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_06]: $30 a month

[00:23:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Love Alaska listeners

[00:23:36] [SPEAKER_06]: When I was with Moody for years

[00:23:37] [SPEAKER_06]: We had people listening all over the country

[00:23:40] [SPEAKER_06]: In Alaska was one of those places

[00:23:41] [SPEAKER_06]: Folks always listen

[00:23:42] [SPEAKER_06]: Gary from Texas

[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_06]: $25 and Joanne from California

[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_06]: $100

[00:23:47] [SPEAKER_06]: So as you call and give your gift

[00:23:49] [SPEAKER_06]: We are going to thank as many of you as we can

[00:23:52] [SPEAKER_06]: But the key is everybody doing something

[00:23:54] [SPEAKER_06]: We have mentioned this before Kirby

[00:23:56] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't think people understand the value of their gift

[00:23:59] [SPEAKER_06]: So many people feel like what they can give

[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_06]: Is just not enough

[00:24:03] [SPEAKER_06]: But if everybody would do something

[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_06]: We would be through with this thing in a day

[00:24:07] [SPEAKER_06]: Literally we could wrap it up in a day

[00:24:09] [SPEAKER_06]: So call right now

[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Will you?

[00:24:11] [SPEAKER_06]: 800-347-5151

[00:24:14] [SPEAKER_06]: 800-347-5151

[00:24:17] [SPEAKER_06]: Or go online

[00:24:18] [SPEAKER_06]: PointOfView.net

[00:24:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Let's get back to Jonathan Teague

[00:24:21] [SPEAKER_04]: And Jonathan of course is the senior associate pastor

[00:24:24] [SPEAKER_04]: Prestonwood Baptist Church

[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_04]: And I'll hold up this whole booklet that we've been making

[00:24:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Availment or fact we talked about it yesterday

[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_04]: The importance of voting

[00:24:32] [SPEAKER_04]: And that is very significant

[00:24:34] [SPEAKER_04]: And Jonathan I thought we might just talk about that

[00:24:36] [SPEAKER_04]: I know you have a copy of this booklet

[00:24:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Because I mailed it to you

[00:24:39] [SPEAKER_04]: But more importantly I know that you

[00:24:41] [SPEAKER_04]: As a pastor at a church

[00:24:43] [SPEAKER_04]: But also providing leadership

[00:24:45] [SPEAKER_04]: For this very large Prestonwood network

[00:24:48] [SPEAKER_04]: Of churches

[00:24:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Recognize how important it is

[00:24:52] [SPEAKER_04]: For individuals to be registered to vote

[00:24:54] [SPEAKER_04]: And then to go out and vote

[00:24:56] [SPEAKER_04]: But also important for pastors

[00:24:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe not to talk about who you should support

[00:25:00] [SPEAKER_04]: But to give biblical principles

[00:25:02] [SPEAKER_04]: To help people understand how important

[00:25:05] [SPEAKER_04]: This election might be

[00:25:07] [SPEAKER_04]: And every election might be

[00:25:08] [SPEAKER_04]: And how to apply a biblical perspective in that regard

[00:25:12] [SPEAKER_05]: Well absolutely and Kirby we do

[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_05]: Thank you so much for sharing that resource with us

[00:25:16] [SPEAKER_05]: And we've been sharing it with our network pastors

[00:25:18] [SPEAKER_05]: And we would encourage all pastors everywhere

[00:25:21] [SPEAKER_05]: To prayerfully consider challenging

[00:25:23] [SPEAKER_05]: And mobilizing the people of your churches

[00:25:25] [SPEAKER_05]: To if nothing else

[00:25:27] [SPEAKER_05]: The bare minimum engage

[00:25:29] [SPEAKER_05]: Through the expression of your vote

[00:25:31] [SPEAKER_05]: And to vote through the lens of biblical values

[00:25:34] [SPEAKER_05]: And you know just seems to be a theme

[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Here in our conversation today Kirby

[00:25:37] [SPEAKER_05]: About that significance of biblical worldview

[00:25:40] [SPEAKER_05]: And it touches every part of our lives

[00:25:41] [SPEAKER_05]: And it should

[00:25:42] [SPEAKER_05]: Following Jesus means that he's lord

[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Of all of your life and all of your heart

[00:25:47] [SPEAKER_05]: And that our desire is that we participate

[00:25:50] [SPEAKER_05]: On every level to do all we can

[00:25:52] [SPEAKER_05]: To bring hope and life and truth

[00:25:53] [SPEAKER_05]: To our families and churches and to our communities

[00:25:56] [SPEAKER_05]: So when you vote

[00:25:58] [SPEAKER_05]: You are expressing both your privilege

[00:26:01] [SPEAKER_05]: And opportunity and responsibility

[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_05]: As a believer in the Lord Jesus

[00:26:04] [SPEAKER_05]: And a citizen of his kingdom first and foremost

[00:26:06] [SPEAKER_05]: And then as an American citizen

[00:26:08] [SPEAKER_05]: To leverage the liberty that you've been given

[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_05]: And that frankly others have purchased for you

[00:26:13] [SPEAKER_05]: Through their sacrifice in the generations before us

[00:26:15] [SPEAKER_05]: To express your vote and to do so

[00:26:17] [SPEAKER_05]: I would just add Kirby unapologetically

[00:26:19] [SPEAKER_05]: To do so as a follower of the Lord Jesus

[00:26:23] [SPEAKER_05]: Filtered through what the scripture says

[00:26:25] [SPEAKER_05]: And as you lay out those voting ballots

[00:26:27] [SPEAKER_05]: And you look at the positions of candidates

[00:26:29] [SPEAKER_05]: You need to look through the lens of the scripture

[00:26:31] [SPEAKER_05]: And let that drive and determine

[00:26:33] [SPEAKER_05]: How you go and vote

[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_05]: And so none of that happens though Kirby

[00:26:36] [SPEAKER_05]: If we don't challenge people to go

[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_05]: To get registered and go and participate

[00:26:40] [SPEAKER_05]: As a voter it makes all the difference

[00:26:43] [SPEAKER_05]: In the world if we want better policies

[00:26:45] [SPEAKER_05]: And if we want better people

[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_05]: And if we do care about the betterment

[00:26:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Of our city and our communities

[00:26:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Then voting is an excellent and critical pathway

[00:26:54] [SPEAKER_05]: To see all of that take place

[00:26:55] [SPEAKER_04]: And again we talk about praying and voting

[00:26:58] [SPEAKER_04]: I thought we'd come to pray for just a minute

[00:26:59] [SPEAKER_04]: Because we have our Pray for America

[00:27:01] [SPEAKER_04]: Which actually is something you can subscribe to

[00:27:04] [SPEAKER_04]: It's free of charge send it out once a week

[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_04]: And I thought I would put you on the spot

[00:27:08] [SPEAKER_04]: Because even though Pastor Graham

[00:27:10] [SPEAKER_04]: Was not there at the pulpit

[00:27:11] [SPEAKER_04]: This Sunday you had Lee Strobel

[00:27:13] [SPEAKER_04]: You stood in front of the congregation

[00:27:16] [SPEAKER_04]: And said that Pastor Graham

[00:27:17] [SPEAKER_04]: Encouraged wanted to encourage our church

[00:27:19] [SPEAKER_04]: And actually sent out to other churches

[00:27:21] [SPEAKER_04]: To pray for what is happening in Israel

[00:27:24] [SPEAKER_04]: The next hour we're going to have

[00:27:26] [SPEAKER_04]: Ken Timmerman on and of course he's been a war correspondent

[00:27:28] [SPEAKER_04]: And he's been kind of one of our go-to people

[00:27:31] [SPEAKER_04]: In terms of what is happening

[00:27:33] [SPEAKER_04]: Tomorrow I'll have Gary Frazier

[00:27:34] [SPEAKER_04]: We'll also talk about Israel

[00:27:36] [SPEAKER_04]: But right now one of the articles

[00:27:37] [SPEAKER_04]: I've posted is Israel has actually encouraged

[00:27:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Civilians in the southern part of Lebanon

[00:27:43] [SPEAKER_04]: To leave because of this bombing campaign

[00:27:45] [SPEAKER_04]: And right now it does seem to me

[00:27:47] [SPEAKER_04]: That one of the other things your church has done

[00:27:50] [SPEAKER_04]: And I think other churches and pastors should do

[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Is encourage people to pray for Israel

[00:27:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Can you speak to that?

[00:27:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Well we do and I'm thankful for our pastor

[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_05]: Dr. Graham and his stance

[00:28:00] [SPEAKER_05]: Not only currently but for many many years

[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_05]: And my dad was a pastor

[00:28:05] [SPEAKER_05]: And this is a significant point

[00:28:07] [SPEAKER_05]: In his ministry I've been to the Holy Land

[00:28:10] [SPEAKER_05]: A few times and Israel has a special place

[00:28:13] [SPEAKER_05]: In all of our hearts and it should

[00:28:15] [SPEAKER_05]: For all believers and because it embraces

[00:28:18] [SPEAKER_05]: The entirety of the story of the New

[00:28:20] [SPEAKER_05]: And Old Testament but also because there is

[00:28:22] [SPEAKER_05]: An understanding that we have

[00:28:24] [SPEAKER_05]: That there is a significance to Israel

[00:28:27] [SPEAKER_05]: To the people of Israel

[00:28:29] [SPEAKER_05]: And then of course Kirby we know

[00:28:30] [SPEAKER_05]: Just the biblical principle that all

[00:28:33] [SPEAKER_05]: People are image bearers and that

[00:28:35] [SPEAKER_05]: When folks who are bent on violent means

[00:28:37] [SPEAKER_05]: And violent ends to do violent things

[00:28:40] [SPEAKER_05]: That we ought to stand up for that

[00:28:41] [SPEAKER_05]: And so there ought to be a peace

[00:28:42] [SPEAKER_05]: I love what my friend Jordan Seculos said

[00:28:44] [SPEAKER_05]: Just earlier today he was here as a part

[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Of our world view conference it ought to be a just peace

[00:28:49] [SPEAKER_05]: And I think that's well said and so of course

[00:28:51] [SPEAKER_05]: We want to pray for the cessation of violence

[00:28:53] [SPEAKER_05]: For the protection of all people in Israel

[00:28:55] [SPEAKER_05]: Not just Jews but Arabs and countless believers

[00:28:58] [SPEAKER_05]: Kirby as you know and have said many times

[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_05]: There's many believers in the Holy Land today

[00:29:02] [SPEAKER_05]: But the violence the terror

[00:29:03] [SPEAKER_05]: The unsolicited terror is unacceptable

[00:29:06] [SPEAKER_05]: And I think not only as Americans

[00:29:08] [SPEAKER_05]: But as believers as well we need to stand up

[00:29:10] [SPEAKER_05]: We need to stand against that we need to rebuke it

[00:29:12] [SPEAKER_05]: And then we need to be praying for that just peace

[00:29:15] [SPEAKER_05]: That would reign over that part of

[00:29:17] [SPEAKER_05]: What has been for centuries a violent part of the world

[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_05]: But that God's peace would reign

[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Because it's better for the world

[00:29:23] [SPEAKER_05]: It's certainly better for the people in that nation

[00:29:25] [SPEAKER_05]: And it comports so clearly again with

[00:29:27] [SPEAKER_05]: A biblical worldview so yes unapologetically

[00:29:30] [SPEAKER_05]: We would challenge and encourage pastors and churches

[00:29:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Please please be praying for Israel

[00:29:35] [SPEAKER_05]: And pray for peace in this time

[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_04]: One last point I thought I'd make is that

[00:29:39] [SPEAKER_04]: Oftentimes when we have you on here

[00:29:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Sometimes of course when we're doing our truth team week

[00:29:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Or other issues but you've also been

[00:29:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Part of the millennial round table

[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_04]: And I just mentioned in the past that you had been

[00:29:50] [SPEAKER_04]: On with Dr. Dobbs and talking about

[00:29:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Generation Y and Generation Z

[00:29:55] [SPEAKER_04]: And of course you had some very good conferences

[00:29:58] [SPEAKER_04]: At Preston Wood really emphasizing the younger generation

[00:30:01] [SPEAKER_04]: So I'd love to get your thoughts as well

[00:30:04] [SPEAKER_04]: Because this millennial round table that you participated in

[00:30:06] [SPEAKER_04]: And some of the speaking you've done about millennials

[00:30:09] [SPEAKER_04]: Is something I would encourage people to learn about

[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_04]: From you and other people writing about that

[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Well I appreciate that Kirby

[00:30:17] [SPEAKER_05]: And again I just want to say to your audience

[00:30:18] [SPEAKER_05]: How strategic and intentional you have been

[00:30:21] [SPEAKER_05]: And continue to be in providing venues

[00:30:23] [SPEAKER_05]: And spaces for young leaders like myself

[00:30:26] [SPEAKER_05]: And others to really get into the meat of these issues

[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_05]: And to examine what are the generational differences

[00:30:31] [SPEAKER_05]: And distinctives and opportunities really

[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_05]: That come with serving and reaching

[00:30:37] [SPEAKER_05]: And discipling the next generation and younger people

[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_05]: So thank you for your commitment in that space

[00:30:41] [SPEAKER_05]: And yeah I was with a large group of our volunteers

[00:30:44] [SPEAKER_05]: From our Preston Wood Pringency Center

[00:30:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Over the weekend Kirby

[00:30:46] [SPEAKER_05]: And they asked me to come and speak on this issue

[00:30:48] [SPEAKER_05]: And we talked not only about millennials

[00:30:49] [SPEAKER_05]: But also Generation Z

[00:30:51] [SPEAKER_05]: And we continue to see some of the persisting problems

[00:30:53] [SPEAKER_05]: In the millennial generation and the amount of work

[00:30:57] [SPEAKER_05]: We have left there to do still you know

[00:30:58] [SPEAKER_05]: Delayed adulthood, delayed marriage

[00:31:00] [SPEAKER_05]: Starting families later, financial realities

[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Workplace dynamics and of course what's happening

[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_05]: In our churches with younger people

[00:31:07] [SPEAKER_05]: Walking away from their faith, the rise of the nuns

[00:31:10] [SPEAKER_05]: The spiritually unaffiliated as we've talked about

[00:31:12] [SPEAKER_05]: But I've got a lot of hope Kirby

[00:31:14] [SPEAKER_05]: Because not only with millennials that are moving

[00:31:16] [SPEAKER_05]: Into family life into their 30s

[00:31:18] [SPEAKER_05]: And even in their early 40s now I'm happy to admit

[00:31:21] [SPEAKER_05]: But also the generation coming behind Generation Z

[00:31:24] [SPEAKER_05]: We might just be seeing Kirby

[00:31:26] [SPEAKER_05]: We might just be seeing a revival generation coming

[00:31:30] [SPEAKER_05]: And the Lord's always moved in the lives

[00:31:32] [SPEAKER_05]: Of the youngest followers of Jesus

[00:31:35] [SPEAKER_05]: And that might just be happening

[00:31:37] [SPEAKER_05]: We're seeing reports of college campuses all over the country

[00:31:39] [SPEAKER_05]: In churches and seminaries and other places

[00:31:42] [SPEAKER_05]: Where young people are standing up

[00:31:44] [SPEAKER_05]: They want clarity Kirby

[00:31:46] [SPEAKER_05]: They want to understand the gospel

[00:31:48] [SPEAKER_05]: And they want to live it out authentically

[00:31:50] [SPEAKER_05]: And that excites me as a pastor, as a dad

[00:31:52] [SPEAKER_05]: That fires me up

[00:31:54] [SPEAKER_05]: So I would just say to your audience, to you, your team

[00:31:56] [SPEAKER_05]: We need to keep going, keep shining a bright light

[00:31:59] [SPEAKER_05]: On those generations because not only are there

[00:32:00] [SPEAKER_05]: The future of the church but they're the church right now

[00:32:03] [SPEAKER_05]: And they are difference makers

[00:32:05] [SPEAKER_04]: Well again I appreciate your work in that regard

[00:32:07] [SPEAKER_04]: And again we've had Leanne Jamison

[00:32:09] [SPEAKER_04]: Who is the Executive Director of the Prestonwood Pregnancy Center

[00:32:12] [SPEAKER_04]: And others on here

[00:32:12] [SPEAKER_04]: That's just another thing to focus some time and attention on

[00:32:16] [SPEAKER_04]: So as always, first of all

[00:32:18] [SPEAKER_04]: We will pray that you get your car fixed

[00:32:20] [SPEAKER_04]: And number two we just want to say thank you

[00:32:22] [SPEAKER_04]: For joining us today by phone

[00:32:24] [SPEAKER_04]: And we'll look forward to the next time I get to see you

[00:32:26] [SPEAKER_04]: Face to face.

[00:32:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Always a pleasure Kirby, cheering you on

[00:32:29] [SPEAKER_05]: So thankful for all you do

[00:32:31] [SPEAKER_04]: Colin we have a break and now

[00:32:33] [SPEAKER_04]: Some people have said okay I don't want to

[00:32:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Actually call while he's on

[00:32:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Because Jonathan is so articulate isn't he?

[00:32:40] [SPEAKER_04]: And at the same time now there is

[00:32:42] [SPEAKER_04]: A opportunity for us to remind people

[00:32:44] [SPEAKER_04]: That we are listener supported

[00:32:45] [SPEAKER_04]: We don't have any grants that come in

[00:32:47] [SPEAKER_04]: We are actually dependent upon your

[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Individual gifts and how can they do that?

[00:32:52] [SPEAKER_06]: Our goal for the week, $150,000

[00:32:54] [SPEAKER_06]: So every single gift matters

[00:32:56] [SPEAKER_06]: Large or small, 800

[00:32:58] [SPEAKER_06]: 3, 4, 7, 5, 1, 5, 1 is the number to call

[00:33:02] [SPEAKER_06]: 800, 3, 4, 7, 5, 1, 5, 1

[00:33:05] [SPEAKER_06]: Let's see if we can get five more calls

[00:33:07] [SPEAKER_06]: Ten more calls maybe during this break

[00:33:09] [SPEAKER_06]: Like Nancy from Texas

[00:33:11] [SPEAKER_06]: Who just called with a gift of 25 a month

[00:33:13] [SPEAKER_06]: Thank you Nancy

[00:33:14] [SPEAKER_06]: Tina in Alaska $30 a month

[00:33:16] [SPEAKER_06]: And Jerry in Arizona $50 gift

[00:33:20] [SPEAKER_06]: So folks are calling

[00:33:21] [SPEAKER_06]: Want to be a part of the truth team

[00:33:23] [SPEAKER_06]: This week with Point of View

[00:33:25] [SPEAKER_06]: We encourage you to do that right now

[00:33:27] [SPEAKER_06]: 800, 3, 4, 7, 5, 1, 5, 1

[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_04]: As we take a break let me just encourage

[00:33:32] [SPEAKER_04]: Some of you that say well you know

[00:33:33] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know that I could come up with

[00:33:36] [SPEAKER_04]: $360 but I could come up with

[00:33:38] [SPEAKER_04]: $30 a month and that would be

[00:33:39] [SPEAKER_04]: $360 so give us a call

[00:33:42] [SPEAKER_04]: 1-800-3, 4, 7, 5, 1, 5, 1

[00:33:44] [SPEAKER_04]: We'll be right back

[00:33:49] [SPEAKER_07]: Point of View

[00:33:59] [SPEAKER_07]: Finding clarity in the chaos

[00:34:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Hi I'm Star Parker

[00:34:03] [SPEAKER_00]: And I represent Cure

[00:34:04] [SPEAKER_00]: The Center for Urban Renewal and Education

[00:34:06] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm also a syndicated columnist

[00:34:08] [SPEAKER_00]: And author

[00:34:09] [SPEAKER_00]: I think Point of View is unique

[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Because it gives opportunity for discussion

[00:34:13] [SPEAKER_00]: On deeper questions that we may have

[00:34:15] [SPEAKER_00]: About how to engage the culture

[00:34:16] [SPEAKER_00]: What do we do to bring our Christianity

[00:34:19] [SPEAKER_00]: To life in today's environment

[00:34:21] [SPEAKER_00]: And Point of View actually gives

[00:34:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Various points of view for us to

[00:34:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Be significant for the kingdom of God

[00:34:28] [SPEAKER_00]: It's fascinating to me how many times

[00:34:30] [SPEAKER_00]: I've told my story on Point of View

[00:34:33] [SPEAKER_00]: About my life, my aggressive life

[00:34:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Living in welfare and how God changed

[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_00]: My life that then I hear from young

[00:34:38] [SPEAKER_00]: People in our prison system who say

[00:34:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Gosh I wish I heard that before

[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_00]: I did my crime and now they're

[00:34:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Followers of the things that we're discussing

[00:34:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Point of View is making such a

[00:34:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Difference in our society that they must continue

[00:34:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Must continue not just for the

[00:34:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Weakness of those amongst us

[00:34:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Those that are hearing information

[00:34:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Perhaps for the first time on how

[00:34:57] [SPEAKER_00]: They can revolutionize their lives in Christ

[00:34:59] [SPEAKER_00]: But also making a difference in our culture

[00:35:01] [SPEAKER_00]: So that we can continue to engage

[00:35:03] [SPEAKER_00]: The battle that is before us

[00:35:05] [SPEAKER_00]: And make sure that God's kingdom

[00:35:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Is very visible in this nation

[00:35:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Around the world

[00:35:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Without Point of View, we don't have

[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_00]: An alternative voice to the secular left

[00:35:16] [SPEAKER_00]: We must support our own

[00:35:18] [SPEAKER_00]: We must make sure that we're engaging

[00:35:20] [SPEAKER_00]: The culture through media

[00:35:21] [SPEAKER_00]: And this is one great place to do that

[00:35:23] [SPEAKER_07]: Finding clarity in the chaos

[00:35:26] [SPEAKER_04]: Point of View

[00:35:28] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm just thinking about decades ago

[00:35:30] [SPEAKER_04]: When we first heard someone tell me about

[00:35:32] [SPEAKER_04]: This really remarkable story

[00:35:34] [SPEAKER_04]: And certainly very articulate

[00:35:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Individual that had been a welfare mom

[00:35:39] [SPEAKER_04]: Star Parker and of course we have played

[00:35:41] [SPEAKER_04]: The story of her so many times

[00:35:44] [SPEAKER_04]: And of course quote sometimes

[00:35:45] [SPEAKER_04]: Some of the columns that she's written

[00:35:47] [SPEAKER_04]: And just again one of those legacies

[00:35:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Calling that we have of individuals

[00:35:52] [SPEAKER_04]: We meet even before they sometimes

[00:35:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Have a national platform

[00:35:56] [SPEAKER_04]: Sometimes we give them a national platform

[00:35:58] [SPEAKER_04]: And look at what God has done

[00:35:59] [SPEAKER_04]: Through her over these years

[00:36:01] [SPEAKER_06]: So many people who have been guests

[00:36:03] [SPEAKER_06]: Or who have made their way through Point of View

[00:36:05] [SPEAKER_06]: Have made an impact through the years

[00:36:07] [SPEAKER_06]: And are now making an impact in their own ministry

[00:36:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Their own work

[00:36:11] [SPEAKER_06]: Those of you who have given to Point of View

[00:36:13] [SPEAKER_06]: In the past, you're part of that

[00:36:15] [SPEAKER_06]: And as you give right now a gift

[00:36:17] [SPEAKER_06]: During Truth Team Week

[00:36:18] [SPEAKER_06]: You can be a part of what's ahead in the future

[00:36:20] [SPEAKER_06]: A young person who may be listening today

[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_06]: Who starts a ministry

[00:36:25] [SPEAKER_06]: Or a pregnancy center or a Christian school

[00:36:27] [SPEAKER_06]: We've heard those stories before

[00:36:29] [SPEAKER_06]: But they're going to continue

[00:36:30] [SPEAKER_06]: As we can continue the ministry

[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_06]: Of Point of View

[00:36:33] [SPEAKER_06]: How do you do it? It's simple

[00:36:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Just go to the phones

[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_06]: 800-347-5151

[00:36:39] [SPEAKER_06]: 800-347-5151

[00:36:43] [SPEAKER_06]: You can also go online

[00:36:44] [SPEAKER_06]: To PointofView.net

[00:36:45] [SPEAKER_06]: We've got different giving levels though

[00:36:47] [SPEAKER_06]: Any size gift makes a difference

[00:36:49] [SPEAKER_06]: Our goal for the week, $150,000

[00:36:52] [SPEAKER_06]: We're listener supported

[00:36:54] [SPEAKER_06]: There's no grants coming from the government

[00:36:56] [SPEAKER_06]: That's right, the government is not sending us

[00:36:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Checks every month to do the program

[00:37:00] [SPEAKER_06]: Your gifts make it possible

[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_06]: So would you call right now

[00:37:04] [SPEAKER_06]: 800-347-5151

[00:37:07] [SPEAKER_06]: Kirby, I know there are people

[00:37:09] [SPEAKER_06]: Who can give gifts of every size

[00:37:11] [SPEAKER_06]: But to reach that goal that we're looking at this week

[00:37:14] [SPEAKER_06]: We're going to have to have some leadership gifts

[00:37:17] [SPEAKER_06]: Some really large gifts

[00:37:19] [SPEAKER_06]: It may be we've already seen yesterday

[00:37:21] [SPEAKER_06]: Some gifts of $1,000

[00:37:22] [SPEAKER_06]: We may need to see some gifts of $2,500

[00:37:25] [SPEAKER_06]: Or $5,000 and there are people listening

[00:37:27] [SPEAKER_06]: Who have that ability

[00:37:29] [SPEAKER_06]: But they just need to step forward and do that

[00:37:31] [SPEAKER_06]: We would love for you to be a part as well

[00:37:33] [SPEAKER_06]: You're going to help us move that down the line

[00:37:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Even that much more quickly

[00:37:37] [SPEAKER_04]: I just mentioned again, even for $100 a month

[00:37:40] [SPEAKER_04]: You receive all the things we've talked about

[00:37:42] [SPEAKER_04]: Including these two books

[00:37:43] [SPEAKER_04]: You might say, well again, I'm not sure

[00:37:45] [SPEAKER_04]: I could give you $1,200 right now

[00:37:47] [SPEAKER_04]: But I could give you $100 a month

[00:37:49] [SPEAKER_04]: And some of you like you said

[00:37:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Could give 5,000, 10,000

[00:37:52] [SPEAKER_04]: And those are individuals as well

[00:37:54] [SPEAKER_04]: That we would certainly want to encourage

[00:37:56] [SPEAKER_04]: To support this ministry

[00:37:58] [SPEAKER_04]: But let's just hear from one of our listeners

[00:37:59] [SPEAKER_04]: Who encourages you to actually know about

[00:38:02] [SPEAKER_04]: What you might be able to do to support this ministry

[00:38:08] [SPEAKER_07]: Point of view, finding clarity in the chaos

[00:38:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Well I've been a supporter

[00:38:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Of Point of View since the 70s

[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Over the years I've collected

[00:38:18] [SPEAKER_02]: The book that's at Point of View

[00:38:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Sends out and I have 70 of them

[00:38:23] [SPEAKER_02]: And they're in the drawer on my desk

[00:38:25] [SPEAKER_02]: And we use them frequently

[00:38:27] [SPEAKER_02]: When we have questions or disputes

[00:38:30] [SPEAKER_02]: About things that we read or hear in the news

[00:38:33] [SPEAKER_02]: So those things are still a blessing

[00:38:36] [SPEAKER_02]: And they'll be a blessing for as long as I keep them

[00:38:38] [SPEAKER_02]: And I appreciate the fact that truth and love

[00:38:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Are discussed equally

[00:38:42] [SPEAKER_02]: And that God's word never changes

[00:38:44] [SPEAKER_02]: We have four generations in my family

[00:38:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Who have been taught these things

[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_02]: These truths and the fifth generation

[00:38:52] [SPEAKER_02]: We've just been blessed with

[00:38:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Who I'm sure will be blessed by this ministry also

[00:38:57] [SPEAKER_02]: So I just appreciate the fact that it's solid

[00:39:00] [SPEAKER_02]: It's truthful, it's honest

[00:39:01] [SPEAKER_02]: And there's no changing God's word

[00:39:05] [SPEAKER_07]: Finding clarity in the chaos

[00:39:08] [SPEAKER_04]: Point of view

[00:39:10] [SPEAKER_04]: I met this individual who actually said

[00:39:12] [SPEAKER_04]: He had all 70 books

[00:39:13] [SPEAKER_04]: I think we're up to 70 something

[00:39:15] [SPEAKER_04]: But anyway just in a good illustration

[00:39:17] [SPEAKER_04]: But also look at the legacy

[00:39:19] [SPEAKER_04]: At least four generations now

[00:39:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe eventually a fifth generation

[00:39:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Listening to Point of View

[00:39:24] [SPEAKER_04]: This is pretty amazing to me

[00:39:26] [SPEAKER_06]: And again as a parent or grandparent

[00:39:27] [SPEAKER_06]: As you have your kids in the car

[00:39:29] [SPEAKER_06]: You might not be thinking they're listening

[00:39:30] [SPEAKER_06]: But they are hearing truth

[00:39:32] [SPEAKER_06]: And they are hearing God's word

[00:39:34] [SPEAKER_06]: They're hearing biblical worldview

[00:39:36] [SPEAKER_06]: I mean that in itself is priceless

[00:39:38] [SPEAKER_06]: So as you think about ministries

[00:39:40] [SPEAKER_06]: That you're going to give to organizations

[00:39:42] [SPEAKER_06]: That you're going to support

[00:39:43] [SPEAKER_06]: Be thinking about an organization just like this one

[00:39:46] [SPEAKER_06]: That is impacting lives every day

[00:39:48] [SPEAKER_06]: Your gift is so important

[00:39:51] [SPEAKER_06]: Not only to you and your family

[00:39:52] [SPEAKER_06]: But to people you'll probably never meet

[00:39:55] [SPEAKER_06]: Like that gentleman in his four generations

[00:39:57] [SPEAKER_06]: That have been helped as well

[00:39:58] [SPEAKER_06]: How do you do it? It's simple

[00:40:00] [SPEAKER_06]: 800-347-5151

[00:40:03] [SPEAKER_06]: 800-347-5151

[00:40:07] [SPEAKER_06]: You can go online to PointOfView.net

[00:40:08] [SPEAKER_06]: That takes a couple of minutes

[00:40:10] [SPEAKER_06]: However you do it whether it's phone or online

[00:40:13] [SPEAKER_06]: And again those suggested giving levels

[00:40:15] [SPEAKER_06]: $30 a month or $50 a month

[00:40:18] [SPEAKER_06]: We'll throw in that water bottle for you

[00:40:20] [SPEAKER_06]: And the books Kirby was talking about

[00:40:22] [SPEAKER_06]: At $100 a month or more

[00:40:24] [SPEAKER_06]: That allows you to give a $1,200 gift

[00:40:26] [SPEAKER_06]: You get the magazine, you get the booklets

[00:40:28] [SPEAKER_06]: You get the water bottle

[00:40:30] [SPEAKER_06]: And you get the two books signed

[00:40:32] [SPEAKER_06]: To you from Kirby Anderson

[00:40:34] [SPEAKER_06]: So it's just our way of saying thank you

[00:40:36] [SPEAKER_06]: One thing I haven't mentioned though today

[00:40:37] [SPEAKER_06]: A welcome pack

[00:40:39] [SPEAKER_06]: We've got a welcome pack this year

[00:40:40] [SPEAKER_06]: If you've never given

[00:40:41] [SPEAKER_06]: Whether you've been listening a week

[00:40:43] [SPEAKER_06]: Or a decade

[00:40:45] [SPEAKER_06]: And you've never given before to PointOfView

[00:40:47] [SPEAKER_06]: We've got a special welcome package

[00:40:48] [SPEAKER_06]: A personal letter from Kirby to you

[00:40:50] [SPEAKER_06]: Five of these popular PointOfView

[00:41:27] [SPEAKER_04]: A little bit later an individual has been

[00:41:29] [SPEAKER_04]: A war correspondent to the head of the foundation

[00:41:31] [SPEAKER_04]: For democracy in Iran

[00:41:33] [SPEAKER_04]: He thinks that ultimately some of the solutions

[00:41:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Are actually having a democratic outburst

[00:41:41] [SPEAKER_04]: In Iran and of course you think of

[00:41:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Whether you're talking about Hamas, Hezbollah

[00:41:45] [SPEAKER_04]: The Houthis all of that goes back to

[00:41:47] [SPEAKER_04]: The funding of Islam through Iran

[00:41:50] [SPEAKER_04]: So we'll talk about that

[00:41:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Also going to be hearing from Janna Weidler

[00:41:53] [SPEAKER_04]: She is the vice president stewardship

[00:41:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Giving us some perspective on that as well

[00:41:57] [SPEAKER_04]: And of course my commentary today

[00:41:59] [SPEAKER_04]: Is about an interview we did with

[00:42:01] [SPEAKER_04]: Sean McDowell about his new book

[00:42:02] [SPEAKER_04]: These are the things that you are supporting

[00:42:05] [SPEAKER_04]: The opportunity to hear individuals

[00:42:07] [SPEAKER_04]: That are actually articulating
