[00:00:03] [SPEAKER_04]: Part of Truth's Team Week, and just a few minutes are going to be talking with a good friend Curtis Chang, author of the book The Anxiety Opportunity.

[00:00:28] [SPEAKER_04]: We talked about that with him over a year ago, and then the new book, The After Party, Curtis Chang, and Nancy French.

[00:00:35] [SPEAKER_04]: But I thought just before getting back into some of that, I might just talk about one of the changes we've made at Point of View, or the last couple of years.

[00:00:41] [SPEAKER_04]: And one is to really spend a little bit of time talking about economics.

[00:00:45] [SPEAKER_04]: Now, that can get real boring, but it does affect your family finances.

[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_04]: And one of the booklets we've been making available and even in my book here that I'm holding up right now on Descerning the Future,

[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_04]: we have a section there on Capitalism and the Free Market and a section on Socialism because the younger you are,

[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_04]: the more likely you are to think that socialism is better than Capitalism.

[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_04]: And I might point you also, really quickly to an article that I found that really kind of emphasizes what we talked about last Friday on Point of View.

[00:01:18] [SPEAKER_04]: It's entitled, The Problem with Trumponomics 2.0.

[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Brad Pullumbo actually says, Look, the campaign that Donald Trump had when he first ran,

[00:01:28] [SPEAKER_04]: and one that he implemented when he was in office for four years, which included everything from tax cuts to deregulation,

[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_04]: some pro growth initiatives and even free market reforms, he now seems to be back in a way from.

[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_04]: And we talked a little bit about that in terms of not just one and a half tariffs on Chinese goods, but everything.

[00:01:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Also the idea of, and we'll longer taxing tips.

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_04]: And then the one he popped off with the other day of capping the interest rate on credit cards at 10%.

[00:02:00] [SPEAKER_04]: Now this is the same group that just to while ago, including those of us around the table,

[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_04]: we're very critical of Kamala Harris saying that she wanted to actually have mandated price controls.

[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_04]: One to two actually give $25,000 to first time home buyers, which I think would do nothing more than increase the cost of housing.

[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_04]: And then he's even talking about the idea of actually taxing, unrealized capital gains and un-driedive other topics.

[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_04]: And so it's just been kind of one of those topics where we thought, because we went through the pandemic and the lockdown.

[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Because sometimes people aren't as economically literate as you would hope they would be.

[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_04]: Kind of back to what Collins did just a minute ago, you're not going to get the pastor from the pulpit,

[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_04]: talk about money other than maybe the importance of tithing and maybe staying out of debt.

[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_04]: And so we feel like that's another area of education.

[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_04]: But also if you find yourself saying, well there's a few things that are being tossed around right now by the Trump campaign.

[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_04]: And a whole lot of really bad ideas being tossed around right now by the Harris campaign.

[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_04]: This is another article for you to read because whether it comes from people we like or dislike,

[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_04]: whether there have an R or a D next to their name, we want you to have discernment and we want to certainly give you some facts.

[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_04]: So you can have discernment to try to make some sense of all these campaign proposals,

[00:03:31] [SPEAKER_04]: some of which seem to be coming out of desperation and aren't really well thought.

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_04]: We want people that are in office that are serious because we have serious issues to address in the 21st century.

[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_04]: And certainly we want to be a resource so that you can go to some of those resources,

[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_04]: learn more and make intelligent decisions.

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_04]: And Colin, that's just one more reason why I haven't reached people to support point of view.

[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_06]: And now is a great time.

[00:03:59] [SPEAKER_06]: 83475151.

[00:03:59] [SPEAKER_06]: My wife is helping answer the phones today and she said slow down and give the numbers.

[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_06]: So everybody can hear I'll do it now.

[00:04:09] [SPEAKER_06]: 83475151 and Kirby, we have a flurry of activity right there at the end of the hour.

[00:04:13] [SPEAKER_06]: A gift of $300 a gift of $250 a gift of $275.

[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_06]: Those were all one time gifts.

[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_06]: And then a monthly gift of $50 a month they're going to get one of those snazzy,

[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_06]: yazzy water bottles with the point of view logo on there.

[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_06]: That's a $600 gift given at $50 a month and we're so grateful for each one of those.

[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_06]: Again, point of view, listener supported radio.

[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_06]: The education, the foundation of the biblical principles that you get each and every day.

[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_06]: The resources, oh my goodness, the resources you get online through the point of view.net website.

[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_06]: All of that should be a reason to be a part.

[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_06]: Again, we have a big goal this week, $150,000.

[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_06]: This is the day one.

[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_06]: We're in the second hour of day one.

[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_06]: And so it's critical for us to hear from you to get a good start for the week.

[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_06]: And you can help us do that at 800-347-5151.

[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_06]: That's 800-3475151.

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_04]: Curtis Chang will be with us in just a minute, but again, as we talked in the first hour of

[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_04]: The Bunny Pounds about the need for Christians to be engaged,

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_04]: going to be talking with Curtis Chang who's been on the program with us a number of times.

[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_04]: So all the way back when we had the pandemic and the vaccine and all the rest.

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Do want to talk to him a little bit about this idea of a conspiracy theory because when they were doing a

[00:05:30] [SPEAKER_04]: recent after party event based on his book, The After Party, the question they threw at him.

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_04]: And I don't know if it came from left field or not, but I thought he gave a very good answer is what about these ideas of conspiracy theories?

[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_04]: Of course, you'd be typing his name.

[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_04]: You'll notice that there was a video that he's well known for.

[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Matter of fact, I think it's the most watched video that he's produced so far about whether or not the vaccine was the mark of the beast.

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, you know, he's since then looked at some of the other issues related to that and even recently.

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_04]: I've done a commentary that will come out in about a week about whether or not we have a flat earth because of that.

[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, you have people that deny the Holocaust or deny whether or not we had men walking on the moon.

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_04]: I've actually had people in studio who have walked on the moon, you know, but they deny those issues.

[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_04]: So where did these conspiracy theories come from?

[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_04]: And it's I think are going to be a very important issue, but also the subtitle of the book is towards better Christian politics.

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Can we think about what the future is?

[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, we recognize right now that though sometimes we're not thrilled with some of the candidates that we have.

[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_04]: Whether it's the presidential level or the senator level, but again, we have to be thinking about the future.

[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_04]: And that's what we're trying to think about as well.

[00:06:42] [SPEAKER_04]: So whether it's politics or as I just mentioned a few minutes ago, economics, we want to be your trusted source.

[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_04]: So place where you can go to get news commentary information, but especially looking at that from a biblical point of view.

[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_06]: And that's what you're going to get as you engage with point of view, whether it's in the broadcast mode, the audio mode.

[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_06]: There's the opportunity to check out the election central section on the website.

[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_06]: There's all kind of articles related to things you've heard in the news.

[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_06]: So and so has this policy or so and so just said something about this topic.

[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_06]: It's going to be there. There's going to be information there for you even as we head toward this upcoming election, but the key is this week that those of you who love and support point of view will actually step forward and be a part of point of view.

[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_06]: A part of the team through your giving. That's the key this week.

[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_06]: 800 347 5151 we're going to bring content this week. You're going to have some great guests this week, but we need your help. It's listener supported radio.

[00:07:44] [SPEAKER_06]: You're able to continue this ministry with your gifts at 800 347 5151 you can really make a difference and we hope you'll do that this week again.

[00:07:54] [SPEAKER_04]: We'll come back in just a minute with Curtis Chan. Course we did talk about his book, the anxiety opportunity.

[00:07:59] [SPEAKER_04]: He's dealt with that a little bit later. We're going to hear from Max Lucato. He's written a book on anxiety and we've talked dealt with some of that.

[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_04]: So we certainly not only talk about the economic issues, we talk about the emotional issues and many other topics that certainly are relevant.

[00:08:14] [SPEAKER_04]: But as we go to a break, this is a good time to get another surge of phone calls. Let's see if we can get five phone calls right now. 1 800 347 5151 1 800 347 5151 you're watching this right.

[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_04]: 1 800 347 5151. Course the simplest one and that's how I oftentimes give, just go to the website point of view.net slash trist team or just simply go to the banner. It will take you where you need to go.

[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Let's get some phone calls. We'll be back with Curtis Chan right after this.

[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_07]: This is viewpoints with Kirby Anderson.

[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Dr. Casey Luskin of the Discovery Institute was in my radio studio recently to talk about evolution's failed predictions.

[00:09:09] [SPEAKER_04]: I was able to find an article he wrote in the past about design versus descent, a context of predictions which you might want to read to get a fuller explanation.

[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_04]: He begins with a quote from the famous philosopher science, Karl Popper, who wrote that all scientific theories must be falsifiable.

[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Certainly a scientific theory that is taught in the public school should have empirical evidence and thus be falsifiable.

[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_04]: Casey Luskin discussed four lines of evidence here are two of them.

[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_04]: One line of evidence is biochemical complexity. The prediction of descent would be that there would be few machine-like biologically complex structures in the cell.

[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_04]: A prediction from design would be that we would find machine-like irreducibly complex structures that cannot be easily explained by a gradual evolutionary process.

[00:09:52] [SPEAKER_04]: He describes such irreducibly complex structures and then argued that the best theory to explain the data is design.

[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_04]: Another line of evidence is biochemical functionality. The prediction of descent would be that the genetic code in living creatures would contain a significant amount of genetic baggage.

[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_04]: This would be junk DNA that is left over from failed genetic adaptations. The prediction of design would be that the genetic code is not full of functionalist junk DNA.

[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_04]: As we have increased our knowledge of genetics, we have discovered that the so-called junk DNA has an important function within the cell.

[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_04]: He argues that this functioning DNA would be expected or explained under a design paradigm.

[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_04]: You know if we look at the predictions and the scientific data, we discover that design is a better explaining theory than descent.

[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm Kirby Anderson, and this might be going to be a...

[00:10:47] [SPEAKER_07]: For a pre booklet on a biblical view on Big Data, go to viewpoints.info-slash-data. That's viewpoints.info-slash-data.

[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_07]: Point of view, finding clarity in the chaos.

[00:11:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Well as I say, you know, you were a partner with this from the very beginning but if people do not understand what's going on,

[00:11:11] [SPEAKER_03]: beyond the sector or news headlines, beyond what media is teaching us, people don't know how to make decisions about life.

[00:11:20] [SPEAKER_03]: They don't know how these things affect them in terms of choosing schools for their children.

[00:11:26] [SPEAKER_03]: They don't know how these things affect them in terms of voting for people for public office.

[00:11:31] [SPEAKER_03]: They don't know how this affects them in terms of all sorts of other issues relating to liberty, relating to justice and the lives of their friends.

[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_03]: And so without point of view, how would people know these things?

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_07]: Find the clarity in the chaos. Point of view.

[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Valencia as the executive director and the founding individual of Alliance Defending Freedom.

[00:11:57] [SPEAKER_04]: And again, that is an organization that a number of people, whether it was Jim Dobson or Larry Burkett or Don Wildman or Marlin Maddics,

[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_04]: the host of Point of view and others came to create what was called ADF and existed his day.

[00:12:12] [SPEAKER_04]: But again, just talking about the importance of having good information and a partnership we've had with ADF all those years.

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_04]: Earlier, we just heard from a Curse the current vice president of ADF, Lathen Watts. So some great friends indeed.

[00:12:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Let's say we can now go to Curtis Chang. He's been on the program with as many times before.

[00:12:30] [SPEAKER_04]: Matter of fact, recently talked with him about the book, The Anxiety Opportunity about a year ago.

[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_04]: He is public theologian, a consulting faculty member at Duke, to Venetty School also seen your fellow at Fuller Theological Seminary.

[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_04]: Of course, I mentioned his book. We have the good faith podcast and we have that linked on the website as well as

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_04]: the newest book, The After Party and an individual that you probably have seen right in both the New York Times and Christianity.

[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Curtis Chang, welcome back to Point of View.

[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, Kirby, it's so glad to be back with you. Thanks for having me.

[00:13:04] [SPEAKER_04]: And I just mentioned that of course we had a great conversation with you on the book, The Anxiety Opportunity.

[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_04]: We've posted that on the website.

[00:13:12] [SPEAKER_04]: We also have information about the After Party, which we'll get into, which is a project that was created by you and a number of other individuals.

[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_04]: But as an individual that has been part of that project, I watched one of the videos where they did a question or answer with David French and then Rushmore.

[00:13:30] [SPEAKER_04]: And then they ask you, the woman asked you about conspiracy theories.

[00:13:35] [SPEAKER_04]: And I thought for just a minute, I would have you share that because in some respects it pulls from both of your books.

[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_04]: Your argument is that people have a high level of anxiety.

[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_04]: We've certainly documented that so many times on this program and sometimes there's this uncertainty.

[00:13:54] [SPEAKER_04]: And so sometimes believing in a conspiracy theory comes you down and you're kind of well known for having produced, for example,

[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_04]: that video on whether or not the vaccine is the mark of the beast.

[00:14:09] [SPEAKER_04]: And just recently I was at a place where they were saying we have a number of Christians that do not believe the Earth is spherical, but believe in a flat earth or others that believe that the whole cost did not take place.

[00:14:22] [SPEAKER_04]: So help us out because I love your way of explaining that it made sense and also helped us understand that certainly just using logic or rationality.

[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_04]: To move a person off of a conspiracy theory is going to be difficult. Can you explain?

[00:14:39] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, I think this is a connection between anxiety, conspiracy theories and really I think that's toxic.

[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Part of them divide that's ripping our country apart they're all connected.

[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_05]: And the connections are I would start with the emotions of anxiety because the reality is we are living in a social, cultural political moment.

[00:14:59] [SPEAKER_05]: Where there's a lot of uncertainty where there's a lot of potential losses that we may experience.

[00:15:05] [SPEAKER_05]: And that is the natural context for anxiety when we fear something that we care about is going to be lost.

[00:15:13] [SPEAKER_05]: And so that's human life. That's human condition that always has been the danger is when we feel like we cannot tolerate that feeling of anxiety.

[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_05]: So we're looking for something to lower those feelings of anxiety and conspiracy theories is like a short term drug that momentarily lowers the anxiety because it promises, it's a false promise.

[00:15:37] [SPEAKER_05]: But it's a false promise of certainty. It says, hey, here's this will explain how everything in the way the world works.

[00:15:43] [SPEAKER_05]: This conspiracy explains everything you fear and will give you some answer to help you believe the future will end up this way.

[00:15:53] [SPEAKER_05]: If you just believe this was happening, this part of your research.

[00:15:56] [SPEAKER_05]: It's not that by science, by truth, by facts. It's just kind of constructed to give you a false momentary illusion of certainty.

[00:16:06] [SPEAKER_05]: So it's like a drug. And so in the first hit, okay, if I believe this and this explains everything like all the dots all connect, I can connect the strings from everything. The world makes sense.

[00:16:17] [SPEAKER_05]: But it doesn't last because conspiracy theories ultimately are not based in truth. And so it does not, it does not last.

[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_05]: It's a drug that just gives you a short term hit. So you have to keep going back more and more for more hints of that conspiracy theory the way you go back to a drug.

[00:16:34] [SPEAKER_05]: And so these conspiracy theories, why they all have the structure of constantly updating, constantly revising things. It's going to happen on this day.

[00:16:42] [SPEAKER_05]: It's going to happen in this way because assuming you is an exit that you need to deal with uncertainty.

[00:16:48] [SPEAKER_05]: So what I'm proposing is that as Christians we really get off that drug.

[00:16:52] [SPEAKER_05]: That's the conspiracy theory and we get more hooked into Jesus who is the truth and follow him in the pursuit of truth.

[00:17:01] [SPEAKER_05]: Which may not always be like, well tell us, hey, nothing that is going to happen. But it tells us that Jesus is still the Lord of all. And that's really the truth we hang onto.

[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_04]: I might just mention too in your book. You talk about the disciple that combattin the exhausted the Senate and you basically recognize the combattin to exhausted the Senate.

[00:17:20] [SPEAKER_04]: Represent different people up there on that platform and various individuals that have been writing. And you have your story and that as well.

[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_04]: And so one of the things I appreciate about the book and of course about you is your fellow travelers. They look, I haven't got it all figured out either.

[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_04]: But nothing else I want to bring some to the table. And I think your points will take into that.

[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_04]: There is a book coming out. I understand on this whole idea for example, a flatterer than my argument in one of my commentary was, you have me not make any difference. Sometimes you can tell somebody that they heard something on a particular talk show that wasn't well researched or they saw something on the internet and then try to give them counter information.

[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_04]: And you've concluded sometimes that rationality or logic hasn't really been that effective because sometimes it has to do with the emotional issue rather than the intellectual issues at fair.

[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_05]: That's exactly right, Kirby and that's why people rarely get back checked out of their conspiracy theory because underlying the conspiracy theory is an emotional.

[00:18:25] [SPEAKER_05]: And it is the drive to deal with that anxiety that resides in them. And so if you're just speaking to their head and their rationality, and that's the underlying emotion of anxiety, your fact checking is just going to bounce off of them because it's like it's trying to think away a drug from them.

[00:18:43] [SPEAKER_05]: And they're like, you know what I mean, just try to think of what's going on. And so this is where I think for those of us who have relatives or friends or family members who are it's near and what we believe are false and destructive conspiracy theories.

[00:19:00] [SPEAKER_05]: Really try to stay in relationship with them so that you can be connected to them emotionally and then get maybe to the underlying fear. Like if you can get to rather than fact checking them to really like what is the picture afraid of what isn't that you're worried about and speak to that.

[00:19:17] [SPEAKER_05]: And at least access the conversation around that I find that to be a much more helpful route to follow.

[00:19:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Again, if you'd like to follow that course we have redeeming Babble.org the after party or you can just go directly to that and has some information about the reason as clear help is needed truth and conspiracy.

[00:19:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Also of course got all sorts of great material but we need to take a break when we come back. I do want to talk about where do we go from here.

[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_04]: But Colin of course we need to remind people that this is the first day of truth team week and we are privileged to talk a little bit later after they break with the Curtis Chang about his latest book and some of those resources.

[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_04]: But now it would be a perfect time to make that phone call if indeed you are ready to make a pledge. Don't have to have all the money here. Think about whether or not to join us on a monthly level because that's very helpful to us and to you as well.

[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_06]: Would love to have you be a truth team member and you can do that very easily by just picking up the phone and calling 800 347 5151 800 347 5151 go to point of view dot net click on the big banner it'll take you right where you need to go it just takes a couple of minutes to give your gift.

[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_06]: Let me mention again that we're listening or supported your gifts or what helped this ministry continue day in and day out to hear great content like you just heard from Curtis Chang and we will continue with that also one more thought.

[00:20:40] [SPEAKER_06]: Maybe your person who has been blessed this year through your business or through your work. We're looking for large gifts this week as well obviously those monthly gifts important but to get to our goal by the end of the week we're going to need some larger gifts if you could give one of those hundred dollar a month or more gifts maybe a twenty five hundred dollar gift.

[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_06]: A five thousand dollar gift all of that's going to be needed to get to our goal but we need to hear from you right now. Would you call 800 347 5151 800 347 5151 take break and continue your conversation with Curtis Chang if you'd like to know more about him about the after party some of the great resources all available at the website.

[00:21:18] [SPEAKER_04]: At point of view.net as you go there and click on the banner make your pledge or your gift or if you'd like to call 800 347 5151 will be right back.

[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_07]: This is perhaps the most unprecedented elections season America has ever seen the current political landscape is confusing and let's be honest it's chaotic Americans need the tools to see truth clearly amid all the chaos and that is why.

[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_07]: Right now is the perfect time to join point of use truth team by joining the truth team you will give Americans information they can trust about the election.

[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_07]: The candidates the issues and you'll give them the resources to act people know that the nation is in trouble and your action today will help them see the solutions clearly.

[00:22:14] [SPEAKER_07]: And make a difference this week. We need to raise 150,000 dollars to equip Americans to think clearly amid the chaos of the election and beyond help us reach this goal by joining the truth team today.

[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_07]: Join at point of view.net or call 1-800-347-51 that's point of view.net and 1-800-347-51.

[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_07]: Point of view will continue after this.

[00:22:58] [SPEAKER_07]: You are listening to point of view.

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_07]: The opinions expressed on point of view do not necessarily reflect the views of the management or staff of the station.

[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_07]: And now here again is Kirby Anderson.

[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_04]: Back once again in studio with me Colin Lambert but also on the phone Curtis Chang and of course we have the theme for truth team.

[00:23:21] [SPEAKER_04]: The biblical clarity and cultural chaos in light of some of the things Curtis Chang was saying Colin I was thinking we could call it a piece in the midst of political polarization.

[00:23:31] [SPEAKER_04]: But either way we're talking about the fact that there's a real need to apply a biblical perspective on what we're discussing and that's why again we have information.

[00:23:41] [SPEAKER_04]: And not only about the previous book, the anxiety opportunity but this new book, the after party as well as the podcast and good faith podcast and all sorts of other resources you can find at pointofview.net.

[00:23:53] [SPEAKER_04]: We've had a number of calls but we need more we need other people to say I appreciate the conversation and I would like to support this ministry.

[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_06]: And that number is 83475151-83475151.

[00:24:07] [SPEAKER_06]: Many levels to give at the $30 a month level $50 a month 100 a month and with each one of those if you go to the website pointofview.net

[00:24:17] [SPEAKER_06]: You're going to be able to see the gifts you're going to receive of course the special biblical view media booklets.

[00:24:24] [SPEAKER_06]: You're going to find those the monthly outlook magazine. We've got this wonderful travel water bottle for those who give at the $50 level and will add that to that.

[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_06]: And then two of Kirby's books available to you at the $100 level. He'll sign them to somebody that you want.

[00:24:40] [SPEAKER_06]: But again, the key is this is a listener supported ministry. There's no big grants from the government coming to help pointofview bring this incredible information and wonderful guests like Curtis Chang to you.

[00:24:51] [SPEAKER_06]: It is done through your gifts you're giving. So would you call right now what love to get four five calls right now that would really encourage the team 800-3475151-834751.

[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_04]: Curtis, I was just thinking to the first hour we talked about the need for Christians to get involved.

[00:25:10] [SPEAKER_04]: And the individual we were interviewing actually started to listen to point of view when she was a high school student and she now has two grandchildren. So that goes on for a while.

[00:25:19] [SPEAKER_04]: I know you're more recent guest, but I think we first met up during the pandemic, but you've been around as long enough to know that we really try to do the best research we can and try to provide a forum for individuals. So what would you say to our listeners in terms of the importance of supporting something like pointofview?

[00:25:40] [SPEAKER_05]: I think it's essential that we support Christian voices, faithful voices like point of view like yours because we need them. We really need them in an era where like the landscape is so crowded with voices of bad faith, frankly people who are trying to hijack our faith for partisan and another I think on other ends other than the gospel both on the left end of the right.

[00:26:09] [SPEAKER_05]: And so what I'm so value curvy about your voice is that you are really looking out for the best interest of your listeners from the vantage point of truth fidelity to Jesus. And we really need more of those voices and so I really want to encourage anybody that's listening to support this. This is out of all of the various places that I do conversations in video interviews, of course, curvy honestly. I'm not saying this just because you're in the middle of trying to build your truthy but there's always one of my favorites because I'm a little bit more interested in the world.

[00:26:39] [SPEAKER_05]: Because you do the research, you're always prepared and the conversation of really productive and fruitful. And that's rare in today's media environment. And so I really do want to encourage listeners to please strengthen the ecosystem of good, truthful, responsible voices we need them. If you are regular listener to curvy, please support that work because that's the only way that we get the right voices out there.

[00:27:07] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, I certainly appreciate that and let me just if I can talk about what we can do. And first of all, we have a link to the after party. There's a place where you can check out the book, I'll hold it up again if you haven't seen it. It's making the round so I think you probably have.

[00:27:20] [SPEAKER_04]: And there's a free course that is available. So talk about that because we certainly want to encourage people whether we're in the election season or not.

[00:27:31] [SPEAKER_04]: My previous guest says, put together some videos I've even participated in one or two of those to educate people about the whole range of issues from a Christian point of view.

[00:27:39] [SPEAKER_04]: You're again trying to address the fact that there's so much polarization and there's so much misinformation there I even use the word conspiracies again that really there is a need for us to come back and find some trustworthy sources and be able to articulate a consistent and biblical worldview. So talk about some of the resources that would be available to our listeners.

[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think where the after party is really I hopefully making a distinction contribution is we're not trying to help Christians think through the issues and by that I mean the what of politics.

[00:28:14] [SPEAKER_05]: I think it's important to do that. I'm really glad there are resources to do that but the after party is trying to do is to re ground Christians in a common Jesus center perspective on the how of politics.

[00:28:26] [SPEAKER_05]: Not so what are the issues and who you should vote for or what candidates the best candidate. But how do we go about this how do we treat one another, especially when we have different points of view.

[00:28:37] [SPEAKER_05]: The what how do we still remain united to still practice the fruits of the spirit session loved one another rather than get drawn into the destructive hatred that the rest of our society is constantly trying to pull us into.

[00:28:51] [SPEAKER_05]: And so the after party is really trying to equip people to regardless of whether or not you are a public and or a democrat to have a common how Jesus center how based on hope, especially on the qualities of.

[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_05]: And that's the course there's a book you mentioned and if I was also a Kirby for your listeners to know that there's also a worship album that we've produced in conjunction with a worship collective.

[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_05]: And it helps Christians think the truth of the local hope and humility in these days in our worship life as well.

[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_04]: The horizontal would be humility then you have to combat in the cynic the disciple the exhausted so kind of see where you are in that particular issue. So you can dip into that particular chapter, but also thought I might just mention Curtis that the way you've put this together with the book and the video and now the worship material.

[00:30:06] [SPEAKER_04]: So this could be a Sunday school class it could be a small group class it could actually be a church function or some sort to actually get people thinking whether we're in the election season or maybe even better to use this after the election season when so promotions die down.

[00:30:22] [SPEAKER_04]: And to think about how to apply a biblical point of view so you really kind of put a very significant resource together.

[00:30:33] [SPEAKER_04]: It's sort of plug and play while you have to do is get the book at the videos and you're ready to go.

[00:30:38] [SPEAKER_05]: That's exactly right and we want to take a load off of pastors to feel like they've got to invent something brand new but to give them some resources they trust us and produce well produced well that it.

[00:30:50] [SPEAKER_05]: And exactly right plug and play put it in your small group curriculum on the Sunday school Bible study or even we have no many churches say that they built a whole sermon series around.

[00:31:01] [SPEAKER_05]: In fact, we just talked with a pastor who is doing a four part series on the combat and exhausted the cynic and the disciple calling very much that two by two grid you just described.

[00:31:13] [SPEAKER_04]: I just mentioned to you just before that you go a hold up your book that we've done an interview on before on the anxiety opportunity by the way, calling it was so good.

[00:31:22] [SPEAKER_04]: We replayed it again because it was so helpful and in just a few minutes as well he goes off there.

[00:31:28] [SPEAKER_04]: The comment here we're going to hear is from Max Locator's written about anxiety as well and given the fact again that you talk about the fact that you've dealt with anxiety.

[00:31:37] [SPEAKER_04]: You're a fellow traveler and so I appreciate so much of what you've written.

[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_04]: I appreciate your good faith podcast as well as some of the other after party material.

[00:31:46] [SPEAKER_04]: So it is always a delight to have you on the program and thank you for joining us today.

[00:31:51] [SPEAKER_05]: So happy to do so.

[00:31:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Kirby keep up the great work and listen our keeps supporting Kirby.

[00:31:56] [SPEAKER_05]: We need about there.

[00:31:57] [SPEAKER_04]: And I just mentioned the co-author of that is Nancy French.

[00:32:00] [SPEAKER_04]: She's been on the program with us too.

[00:32:01] [SPEAKER_04]: With some that lets if we can say we're going to a break and I know what happens people listen to a very intelligent guest and they don't call.

[00:32:11] [SPEAKER_04]: So I'm hoping maybe we now can get 10 calls during this break.

[00:32:15] [SPEAKER_04]: What do it would you think?

[00:32:16] [SPEAKER_06]: I think 10 calls would be great.

[00:32:18] [SPEAKER_06]: Let's see if we can get 10 calls here in the next a couple of minutes 800 347 5151 813475151 Kirby.

[00:32:27] [SPEAKER_06]: I love that he's talking about two important issues.

[00:32:30] [SPEAKER_06]: Hope and humility how much humility do you see in the political world today about zero so I love that.

[00:32:38] [SPEAKER_06]: I love the focus and in a time that's filled with fear and anxiety he's also talking about hope the hope of the world Jesus Christ.

[00:32:45] [SPEAKER_06]: What a great message and and how many people would miss his message if it wasn't for point of view that is able to bring him as a guest in his books and his course that you're talking about online.

[00:32:56] [SPEAKER_06]: So many things brought to you so many resources daily brought to you through the work and the teamwork of point of view 800 347 5151.

[00:33:07] [SPEAKER_06]: Let's see if we can get 10 calls here in the next few minutes and see if you can add to our total today it is a listener supported radio.

[00:33:15] [SPEAKER_06]: You can make the difference today 800 347 5151.

[00:33:20] [SPEAKER_04]: If you come back from the break we'll get a chance to hear just briefly from the president point of view Warren Kelly so I want to do that but this would be a perfect time to call so again let's try those 10 phone calls.

[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't think we would overwhelm the system I think we would be able to take all 10 calls so again 800 347 5151 if you're not near a phone though and you have a computer go to point of view dot net slash trist team either way let's take a break be back right after this point up view fighting clarity

[00:33:59] [SPEAKER_02]: In the chaos I just hold you in such admiration the way you tackle such topics that are intimidating to most of us and yet you masterfully manage them from a biblical world view and you equip us to know how to process and think and filter much of the events that are happening today so on behalf of the hundreds of millions of us thank you so much fighting clarity in the chaos point of view.

[00:34:30] [SPEAKER_04]: Max Locado in studio with us recently and we're talking about his book actually was on prophecy which is something you don't normally think of him writing about but again a very good friend and have known him for decades and you get his old desire to you know people for a long period of time calling but let's see if we can connect up right now with Warren Kelly president of point of view Warren.

[00:34:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Well how we do in here you've been kind of monitoring all sorts of things mostly electronics since you're not here with us in the studio but what are we doing how we doing and what's our need for the future here.

[00:35:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Well we're off to a little bit of a slow start that's not unusual for us but we do definitely need to hear from you for those of you that have responded we are very, very grateful for you.

[00:35:19] [SPEAKER_01]: But as Colin said we've got a very big ambitious goal for the week we've got a hundred and fifty thousand dollars goal and we really do need to see that come in if at all possible that's not a wish list that's what we need to keep operating and so we really need to hear from you.

[00:35:35] [SPEAKER_04]: And again I would encourage people to of course support their church maybe even support the local radio station if your local radio station takes gifts of non commercial station.

[00:35:45] [SPEAKER_04]: But I hope that they would also consider what they might do to support point of view.

[00:35:49] [SPEAKER_06]: We've got about 10 or 11 minutes left in this hour just wanting courage you may be a caller two a minute would be great about 10 15 calls in the next few minutes eight hundred three four seven five one five one eight hundred three four seven five.

[00:36:04] [SPEAKER_06]: One five one we had the one of our long time listeners Kirby became a first time donor today out of Las Vegas and we are just so grateful for that gift.

[00:36:15] [SPEAKER_06]: But it just reminds me again how many people listen for a long long time you just listen and listen and listen and benefit and benefit.

[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_06]: And sometimes it's just at the very end that you decide to give don't wait.

[00:36:28] [SPEAKER_06]: Give now if your life is impacted if you're walk with Christ is impacted if you're educated and informed and given hope and help through the ministry of point of view.

[00:36:39] [SPEAKER_06]: We need to hear from you need you need to be supporting this ministry if it impacts your life in that way I always say.

[00:36:46] [SPEAKER_06]: When I engage in and in opportunities like this Kirby there's such a small percentage of the audience that actually gives and so many who just benefit and I don't say this to make anybody feel guilty.

[00:36:58] [SPEAKER_06]: I say it just as a point of fact if everybody would do something even just a little bit we could move that need a we wouldn't even necessarily have to come to you once or twice a year because the money would be there to be able to do all the things we need so so I want to encourage you.

[00:37:14] [SPEAKER_06]: If you've listened a long time you've never given before maybe you've given before and you'd like to up your current gift I don't know what your situation is but I can tell you that we've got some wonderful phone volunteers that are ready to take your call right now.

[00:37:28] [SPEAKER_06]: $30 a month $50 a month 100 a month or like the lady from Las Vegas if you're a new donor we've got a special welcome package for you this year a letter from Kirby.

[00:37:39] [SPEAKER_06]: 5 of these popular point of view biblical view point of booklets and then of course the outlook magazine all of those are going to be your gift just for being that first time donor so Kirby however people want to give we want to make it easy on them but the more people who can give it really does make the work lighter for all of us 800 347 5151 let's see how many calls we can get in here in the next few minutes.

[00:38:08] [SPEAKER_04]: One of things we're in a shared with us before is that if you look at all the people that have ever listened to point of view and then you look at the walls it even listen on a regular basis and then you add up the number of people that give where about 1% so others a lot of room for those of you that are maybe listening right now that have never given.

[00:38:28] [SPEAKER_04]: And again for those you watching online hold up the latest outlook magazine which again gets into some of the political issues but also has a number of articles my commentary as well as a very good piece on foreign policy by the way we'll be talking about that tomorrow.

[00:38:44] [SPEAKER_04]: And that was by Merrill Matthews one by Liberty MacArthur of course one by Bonnie pounds and then of course all the booklets that we have there as well so yeah take the opportunity maybe even just a small starter gift to just simply say I appreciate what you're doing.

[00:38:59] [SPEAKER_04]: And certainly that is the case as you mentioned before we do have some individuals that have a very significant capacity to give.

[00:39:08] [SPEAKER_04]: So you've taken the ceiling off there and so it's possible that a very significant gift could put us over and our goal is again $150,000 over five days.

[00:39:20] [SPEAKER_04]: I think we can reach that and I would certainly hope that we can but again I want to encourage you to do that and to do which you can by giving us a call.

[00:39:29] [SPEAKER_04]: 800 347 5151 and I will acknowledge that sometimes you don't want to call during the program so even though we're going off the air at about three and a half minutes.

[00:39:41] [SPEAKER_04]: The bottom line is you can still go to the website 24 seven you can still make a phone call and I thought it just might mention that this week will have Jonathan Tegan studio with us tomorrow.

[00:39:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Can Timmerman we want to invite him back because he's the one that really has an insight into of course what happened first where they were able to explode a bed.

[00:40:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Of a leader of Hamas in Iran through Mossad I'm sure you'll have a lot to say about the page your tax and what's going on there as well.

[00:40:09] [SPEAKER_04]: Gary Fraser be with us talking about Israel we have least trouble talking about apologetics and a number of other people all the way to Friday where we have Dr. Murrow Matthews Kelly shackle for it another so.

[00:40:20] [SPEAKER_04]: I think each day it has been worth listening to and certainly while you listen to these experts we bring on this program we also encourage you to do what you can to support this ministry so.

[00:40:34] [SPEAKER_04]: Again there are a couple ways that you can be involved as you mentioned of course you can make that phone call but I would also encourage people to if they have access to a computer click on that banner that says biblical clarity and cultural chaos.

[00:40:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Click on the button there that says join now then you can see what we're talking about course I've been talking about the various outlook magazines would give you some samples of the booklets as well as the water bottle and then finally of course my two books so if you say.

[00:41:04] [SPEAKER_06]: I would like to know a little bit more about what might be coming in the mail as my gift you can find out about that by going to the website and just a few more minutes remaining let's see how many calls we can get in here in the last few minutes 800 347 5151 listener supported point of view.

[00:41:22] [SPEAKER_06]: You can be part of the truth team I mean it's something to listen to point of view it's another thing to be engaged with point of view and I love that difference because.

[00:41:32] [SPEAKER_06]: Ministers I give to like point of view you're just so much more engaged with that ministry and it gives you a reminder each and every month if you're giving monthly to be praying.

[00:41:43] [SPEAKER_06]: For point of view as well 800 347 5151 would love to see at least one of those larger gifts before we go off the air here maybe in the next few minutes a.

[00:41:54] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm going to give you a $5,000 gift but whatever you can do $30 30 a month 50 dollars a month 100 dollars a month let's hear from you right now 800 347 5151 just before going off the air let's again talk about the fact my view points commentary is there today that's another thing that you're supporting.

[00:42:14] [SPEAKER_04]: And we're talking about the interview I did the other day with Dr. Casey Leskon of Discovery Institute to do a difference between design and descent.

[00:42:22] [SPEAKER_04]: If our creation evolution is an issue intelligent design that's the case have a video on voting your biblical duty we have the election center we have the pray for America.

[00:42:32] [SPEAKER_04]: Outreach and you can subscribe to that so there are just so many things available on the website.

[00:42:36] [SPEAKER_04]: And when you give your supporting all of those different aspects the articles the books the videos and all the rest so just as we go off air.

[00:42:45] [SPEAKER_04]: One last time let me just mention that phone number one more time 1 800 347 5151 1 800 347 5151 course at any time you can go to the website point of view dot net.

[00:42:59] [SPEAKER_04]: As always want to thank a Megan and Colin and Steve for the help behind the scenes we'll see back here tomorrow right here on point of view.

[00:43:14] [SPEAKER_07]: This is perhaps the most unprecedented election season America has ever seen the current political landscape is confusing.

[00:43:23] [SPEAKER_07]: And let's be honest it's chaotic Americans need the tools to see truth clearly amid all the chaos and that is why right now is the perfect time to join point of view's truth team by joining the truth team you will give Americans information they can trust about the election.

[00:43:43] [SPEAKER_07]: The candidates the issues and you'll give them the resources to act people know that the nation is in trouble and your action today will help them see the solutions clearly.

[00:43:57] [SPEAKER_07]: And make a difference this week we need to raise 150 thousand dollars to equip Americans to think clearly amid the chaos of the election and beyond.

[00:44:08] [SPEAKER_07]: Help us reach this goal by joining the truth team today join at point of view dot net or call 1 800 347 51 that's point of view dot net and 1 800 347 51.

[00:44:29] [SPEAKER_07]: Point of view is produced by point of view ministries.
