[00:00:02] [SPEAKER_02]: We broadcast again for WTO in Pioriap. I have not connected yet our guests, so we will go on to some other topics and hopefully we'll reconnect with him but one of the things I did want to talk about is that tomorrow is Constitution Day

[00:00:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Now there are times when people say we should not only celebrate the 4th of July which is of course a celebration of the Declaration of Independence

[00:00:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe we should think about celebrating September 17th which of course tomorrow marks the 237th anniversary of the sign

[00:00:53] [SPEAKER_02]: into the United States Constitution in Philadelphia. Good piece that I've posted for you to read on the website by Kenneth Davis and I thought first of all for those of you that like to take some notes

[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll mention 4 key points that he makes and then talk about a couple of other concerns as we get into this world that certainly has been challenging the Constitution

[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_02]: You might remember that even on Friday when we did our week in addition I gave you a couple of articles

[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Dealing with the challenges to the Constitution and some of the responses including one for a good French-Erient Newcomme

[00:01:30] [SPEAKER_02]: But here's at least 4 key points to think about in terms of the Constitution. First he says it was the Constitution that really launched this grand experiment in Republican self-government

[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_02]: It was by the Constitution that we sought to secure our God given rights by established in a federal government holding only a new-maraded powers expressly granted by a sovereign people

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_02]: A government strong enough to protect our rights, but not so powerful that it threatens our rights and that statement by Kenneth Davis, which is our first point

[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_02]: You know that is the Constitution launched this Republican form of government is that we are Republic not a democracy

[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_02]: And if you wanted to understand a little bit more of what he's talking about, of course we have a booklet that I have written that you are able to get a copy of free charge on a biblical point of view on the Federalist papers

[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_02]: And the Federalist papers were those which were written by Alexander Hamilton, John Jay and James Madison and James Madison wrote Federalist paper number 10

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Which talks about this idea of a Republican form of government and, of course, you also harken back to the Declaration of Independence which says that we are endowed by our creator with what certain and alienable rights that among these are life liberty and the pursuit of happiness

[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_02]: So his first point is we enjoy a Constitution today because it was a grand experiment a unique experiment at the time of a Republican self-government and it was based upon the idea that God gives us rights

[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_02]: And that protects us because of God gives us rights then that means they're inalienable, they're immutable

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_02]: If the government gives you rights, well then the government can take them away. So that's the first point the Constitution was a grand experiment at Republic and self-government

[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Number two, the Constitution established the rule of law in our land

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_02]: So the Constitution is obviously based upon this idea of a rule of law, the foundational principle that laws enacted with the consent of the governed

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Should guide the affairs of a nation rather than the arbitrary decisions of unrestrained rulers

[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Again, take this for what it is there was a time when if the king said it that was it

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_02]: And yet you can go back to various documents like Lex Rex by Samuel Rutherford and certainly John Locke and the second treatis of government and others

[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Then we're saying no, the rules law should be ultimately the king the king cannot be the law

[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_02]: And so again, we take that for granted today as I'm just admitted I'm going to take on how some of that has been eroded away but certainly this idea that the Constitution established a rule of law in the land

[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Number three, a Constitution rule of law defines the essence of what he calls American exceptionalism

[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_02]: And that is that it requires every citizen to be subject equally to the law and none be placed above the law or made exempt from its mandates

[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_02]: This is one place where more and more we have actually found that that is not the case, but this idea that I don't care whether you're the king or whether you're a bishop

[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't care whether you're white, black or whatever and of course we certainly violate some of that with the establishment of this country but the goal was to eventually eliminate that

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_02]: So that every citizen would be subject equally under the law and this idea of American exceptionalism sometimes not always held to perfectly but certainly an illustration of what it is today for us to sometimes say that no president is above the law

[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_02]: No governors above the law there aren't two sets of laws for the elite and the rest of the people that is at least with the Constitution establishes and yet I think as you can tell after the break when we talk about some of the challenges to that that has changed

[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_02]: But that brings us to the fourth one. The first one, of course the Constitution was Republican government number two, then it established a rule of law number three really defined this idea of equality into the law

[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_02]: But number four, the Constitution rule of law makes it possible for individual citizens to foresee with reasonable certainty how government power will be used and applied or will not be used or applied

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_02]: And that's really important as well because if the rules and the laws change over time then you never are sure if what was legal today becomes illegal tomorrow or on the other hand what was illegal today becomes legal tomorrow

[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_02]: And of course there is another very good illustration of the fact that some of that has changed rather dramatically so then he ends so that first section by saying by establishing the Constitution rule of law

[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_02]: The framers dramatically distinguished themselves from tyrants of ages past and those to come by humbly subjecting themselves and their successors to a fundamental law written to restrain the powers of the very government they created

[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_02]: And that of course brings us as we also might mention to the federal papers because in federal paper number 51 James Madison who wrote that one as well said you have a real tension here between you want enough power in the hands of government to bring order to society

[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_02]: But you don't want so much power in government that we lose our liberty of course as we come back from the break you'll see how I see some of that has changed dramatically

[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_02]: But on this day before the Constitution day certainly it is worth looking back and looking at what is on the Constitution and what the framers wisely put together

[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_02]: And if you find yourself saying well I kind of like to learn this or I'd like to teach it to my children and grandchildren let me just mention that you can contact us at point of view.net leave an email there and say I'd be interested in getting Kirby's booklet on a biblical point of view on the Federalist papers

[00:07:54] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm never going to read all the federal papers, but I'd like to at least get a cliff notes version of the Federalist papers or there's also another one that's available

[00:08:04] [SPEAKER_02]: A biblical point of view on constitutional interpretation which I'm going to allude to after the break because we now have as you'll get into the second part of this article

[00:08:14] [SPEAKER_02]: The push from progressives going all the way back to President Woodrow Wilson and others to change the way we interpret the Constitution to change the way we actually intended for the Constitution to be interpreted and changed even the way in which government has been structured

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_02]: But let's take a break we hope to make a connection with Michael Hoodman, but in the meantime I'm going to continue by teaching on the Constitution if we're going to do the reason that tomorrow is the 237th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution will be right back

[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_01]: This is viewpoints with Kirby Anderson

[00:09:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Should Paris be held criminally liable if a child shoots others in a school or public place that is a question being considered in Georgia

[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_02]: The 14 year old shooter who killed four people has been indicted, but so is this 54 year old father

[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Earlier this year a jury in Michigan convicted parents after the son killed four students and wounded six others

[00:09:24] [SPEAKER_02]: They were prosecuted for being negligent. They knew of their son's mental health issues and failed to secure the family firearms

[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's look at this question logically and take guns out of the equation for a moment

[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Imagine four year old is left in a car that is running for a moment by a mother who went to get the mail or opened the garage door

[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_02]: He jumps into the car seat somehow puts the car in reverse and backs over in kills for people

[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_02]: I think all of us would assume that the parents are fully responsible for his act because of negligence

[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Now change it to a 30 year old in a car who mows down in kills for people in a moment of road rage

[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_02]: We wouldn't hold the parents responsible at all, but what would we think if it was a 14 year old doing the same thing?

[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_02]: In the Georgia case there are other factors the shooter had made previous threats and was interviewed by the police

[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_02]: His father bought him a gun other family members report the family was dysfunctional and the boy was the subject of lots of verbal abuse and suffering from significant emotional turmoil

[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Those factors explain why the Georgia authorities charged the father with involuntary manslaughter

[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Second degree murder and cruelty to children will learn more as the case progresses

[00:10:32] [SPEAKER_02]: But this case sends a clear signal to parents that they are responsible for their child's mental state and subsequent actions

[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm Kirby Anderson and that's my point of view

[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_01]: A free booklet on a biblical view of Patriot preachers go to viewpoints.info slash Patriot preachers

[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Your listening to point of view your listener supported source for truth

[00:11:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Back once again talking about the Constitution and just few minutes will be talking about Michael Hoodman

[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_02]: We'll be with us as we talk about the 100 most asked questions about God and the Bible

[00:11:13] [SPEAKER_02]: But let me just leave finish this off because I gave you the positive and then you might say, well yes, as you're going through the positive

[00:11:19] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sensing that there are some negatives and there are and this is where again

[00:11:24] [SPEAKER_02]: I think this very good article by Kenneth Davis is good because he says beginning with Woodrow Wilson

[00:11:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Progressive use have repeatedly disparaged the concept of God given unalienable rights and dismiss the declaration of independence as a naive relic of a simple or fast

[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_02]: They have repeatedly criticized the Constitution's clearly stated limitations and government power as an unreasonable impediment to the official and efficient implementation of their transformative agenda

[00:11:53] [SPEAKER_02]: And of course if you really want to extend and expand the size and scope of government

[00:11:58] [SPEAKER_02]: You can see that the Constitution is a problem and even as recently as President Barack Obama said that his frustration with the Constitution

[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_02]: You might remember was the fact that it was all actually described in terms of negative rights and not positive benefits to the government

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_02]: But that's intended you have of course the most recent Supreme Court just as saying that there really seems to be a problem with things like the first amendment

[00:12:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Because it seems to be slowing down the ability of government to overrule some of these actions

[00:12:34] [SPEAKER_02]: And again my argument would be that isn't a fee to there's an liability that is in a defect it's a feature it was intended in the first place

[00:12:44] [SPEAKER_02]: He goes on to say though over the years progressive judges have obscured the unconstitutional nature of the progressive enterprise and administrative state by repeatedly reinterpating and misinterpating the text of the Constitution

[00:12:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Progressive throughout the government and the academy and media have worked tirelessly to normalize the use of the constitutional power to achieve the power to achieve their favored ends

[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_02]: And so you can see that some of the concerns there that are servicene as well. There's another aspect of that and that is that we're seeing also the rise of what is called the deep state

[00:13:21] [SPEAKER_02]: I have a booklet that again as available the deep state if you're not familiar is something that has now come into current parlance

[00:13:30] [SPEAKER_02]: And the phrase originally comes from the translation of a turkeys phrase which was just talking about this idea of kind of a shallow shadow government or a parallel government or the rest

[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_02]: And yet we certainly have quite a bit of evidence that that is taking place

[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_02]: You can go all the way back to the 1950s for example and President Dwight Eisenhower

[00:13:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Actually warned about what was called the military industrial complex and is televised farewell address

[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_02]: And I think we've all begun to see that is taking place as well

[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_02]: When Donald Trump took office some of the commentators were talking about a deep state

[00:14:13] [SPEAKER_02]: And it was interesting that there were others were sort of making a fun of that concept of a deep state

[00:14:20] [SPEAKER_02]: And this about the time that Joe Biden went into office you had the Washington Post say a little bit of concern about the fact that maybe there would be a deep state left over from Donald Trump

[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_02]: And one way or another make it more difficult for Joe Biden to achieve his particular agenda which I thought was interesting

[00:14:42] [SPEAKER_02]: It's not a deep state, it's just a conspiracy theory when Donald Trump is actually talking about it

[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_02]: But it's a real threat when we actually have one of our individuals in office using that

[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_02]: But there have been many people over the years that have actually written about this

[00:14:59] [SPEAKER_02]: There is a good book called The Deep State, the Fall of the Constitution and the Rise of a Shadow government

[00:15:05] [SPEAKER_02]: And there have been some others that have documented how dangerous this has been

[00:15:10] [SPEAKER_02]: And I think it really comes back to this understanding as belief that yes we do need people in the government

[00:15:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Who have expertise in certain areas much better expertise and say people in Congress or even somebody sitting in the oval office

[00:15:27] [SPEAKER_02]: And so we do need the expertise from those individuals

[00:15:30] [SPEAKER_02]: But the other concern is that many of those political appointees actually remain later

[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Some that actually are actually part of the civil service are there

[00:15:44] [SPEAKER_02]: And so when a president comes in they sometimes think well you're going to be here for four years, maybe eight years

[00:15:50] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to be here a lot longer than that and I know a lot better than you what you actually need to do

[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_02]: And so it reminds me of when Friedrich Hayak wrote his book The Road to Serfdom

[00:16:03] [SPEAKER_02]: He talked about the fact that oftentimes government officials and bureaucrats who write the laws

[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Of rules and regulations they do this with good intention

[00:16:12] [SPEAKER_02]: But the road to Serfdom oftentimes comes from a desire to implement these good intentions

[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_02]: The other aspect of this that interestingly enough Kenneth Davis talks about

[00:16:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Is he says with the dominance of progressive orthodoxies the general public discussion of actions taken by the government

[00:16:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Now focus is almost exclusively on policy outcomes and political personalities and all the rest

[00:16:38] [SPEAKER_02]: And as a result we oftentimes don't even understand the impact that is having on our society

[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_02]: And many times Congress goes along with those ideas by passing legislation that is unreasonably vague

[00:16:53] [SPEAKER_02]: With the idea that then will allow an unelected bureaucrat to determine what that policy outcome should be

[00:17:02] [SPEAKER_02]: And as we pointed out before we've had Dr. Merrill Matthews and others in studio

[00:17:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Certainly when the so-called affordable character Obamacare was passed

[00:17:11] [SPEAKER_02]: There was time and time again in the legislation where it said the Secretary of Health and Human Services shall determine

[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_02]: So the argument was we won't even try to figure out how these policies are going to be implemented

[00:17:24] [SPEAKER_02]: What kind of healthcare you will actually be forced to join with will just leave this to unelected bureaucrats

[00:17:32] [SPEAKER_02]: And as I said before if you didn't like dealing with insurance companies that actually would not cover one of your surgeries

[00:17:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Or not provide you any kind of financial benefit for certain kinds of drugs because they were not on the formulary

[00:17:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Just imagine how much worse it is when an unelected bureaucrat who you do not know and you cannot move

[00:17:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Because if you don't like one insurance company always go to another one

[00:17:58] [SPEAKER_02]: But if you can't even begin to have any kind of recourse that is the concern

[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_02]: So again as he winds down this very important piece

[00:18:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Kenneth Davis reminds us that we enacted the Constitution to establish a rule of law

[00:18:12] [SPEAKER_02]: To limit the use of otherwise unrestrained power in the pursuit of policy objectives for the American people

[00:18:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Who to care only about outcomes and cease to care about the legality of the means used to achieve that

[00:18:24] [SPEAKER_02]: He says would be suicidal and without the rule of law worth the mercy of those who want to use force to achieve their objective

[00:18:32] [SPEAKER_02]: And takes us back to 1838 since I'm in Illinois today seem to appropriate to a quote from Abraham Lincoln

[00:18:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Who warned an audience there in Springfield, Illinois that the ultimate consequences of using lawless force to achieve political objectives was catastrophic

[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_02]: He saw that as a collapse of popular support for constitutional government

[00:18:54] [SPEAKER_02]: And then even a collapse of the government itself, of course what came next as we will know was the Civil War

[00:19:00] [SPEAKER_02]: And as Kenneth Davis points out here it is really important for us as American people

[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_02]: If we wish to avoid this terrible fate that Abraham Lincoln warned about in 1838

[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Then we must reaffirm our allegiance to the principles and institutions of our founding

[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_02]: And their steadfast commitment to the rule of law and as a result as we see a threat to the rule of law today

[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_02]: As we've seen even in Lincoln's time it is not only our duty but our responsibility to counter the lawlessness that leads to tyranny

[00:19:36] [SPEAKER_02]: And reaffirm our allegiance to the principles and institutions of our founding in our unwavering commitment to the Constitution and the rule of law

[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_02]: If you'd like to read the piece I've just given you kind of a short summary of four pages

[00:19:49] [SPEAKER_02]: But again tomorrow is Constitution Day

[00:19:52] [SPEAKER_02]: And my assignment for you is if you have a chance to be with your children or your grandchildren

[00:19:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Teach them something about the Constitution

[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_02]: You can use this article, you can certainly request some of the material that we have on the Federalist paper

[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_02]: The Constitution or the Constitutional interpretation

[00:20:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Because I think this would be just a wonderful teaching moment

[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Just as we sometimes can use Thanksgiving to teach about the pilgrims

[00:20:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Just as we use a fourth of July to teach about the Declaration of Independence

[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's see if we can maybe use tomorrow as an opportunity to teach about the Constitution

[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_02]: And to also warn about the threats of those who are telling us that the democracies under a threat

[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Well first of all it's not a democracy

[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_02]: And second of all sometimes the people claiming that democracies under threat are the ones that have already undermined some of these constitutional principles in the rule of law

[00:20:46] [SPEAKER_02]: So I want to do to have this piece very good pieces available free charge on the website.0.0

[00:20:52] [SPEAKER_02]: And I think we've now connected up with Michael Hoodman

[00:20:55] [SPEAKER_02]: So after the break we'll spend some time talking about his 100 most ask questions about God and the Bible

[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_02]: But stay tuned we'll talk about that with him right after this

[00:21:31] [SPEAKER_01]: In 19th century London two towering historical figures did battle

[00:21:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Not with guns and bombs but words and ideas London was home to Karl Marx the father of communism

[00:21:44] [SPEAKER_01]: And legendary Baptist preacher Charles Spurgeon

[00:21:48] [SPEAKER_01]: London was in many ways the center of the world economically militarily and intellectually

[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Mark sought to destroy religion, the family and everything the Bible supports

[00:22:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Spurgeon stood against him warning of socialism's dangers

[00:22:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Spurgeon understood Christianity is not just religious truth it is truth for all of life

[00:23:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Now if I'm sure he talk about this new book the 100 most ask questions about God and the Bible Scriptures answers to sin

[00:23:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Salvation sexuality and times heaven and more it is written by Shay Michael Hoodman

[00:23:27] [SPEAKER_02]: And he is the author not only of the book, but he's the founder and CEO of God Questions Ministries

[00:23:34] [SPEAKER_02]: For more than two decades he's been answering these questions and as I mentioned earlier

[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_02]: God questions.org is received over 750,000 personally submitted questions

[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Each month the articles on God questions.org are read approximately 20 million times

[00:23:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Over the years the articles have been read well over 2 billion times

[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_02]: And what started off as a hobby has been just an incredible opportunity for ministry

[00:24:02] [SPEAKER_02]: He is an individual that has a number of different degrees including from a Dallas theological seminary

[00:24:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Also pursuing a doctorate there at Dallas theological seminary

[00:24:13] [SPEAKER_02]: The various endorsements come from past your jack hibbs

[00:24:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Jason Jimenez as well as Jay Warner Wallace Mark Yarber all sorts of people that have been on the program

[00:24:23] [SPEAKER_02]: And so Shay thank you for being with us today here on point of view

[00:24:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Kirby thank you for having me

[00:24:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Listen we can talk about how this began because as I understand it was kind of a part-time hobby

[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_02]: And it has grown into an entire ministry tell us more if you might

[00:24:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly so I came to the faith and Christ my late teens

[00:24:45] [SPEAKER_00]: And very quickly the youth pastor who was discipling me began to tell me like

[00:24:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Say I think the Lord is calling you into full-time ministry

[00:24:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Kind of it's lasted off as like you know none of the typical positions in charge

[00:24:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Pastor youth pastor worship leader

[00:25:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Seeing Mike right fit for me, but eventually I did enroll in a Bible college at Calvary University in Kansas City

[00:25:08] [SPEAKER_00]: And received the degree in biblical studies and then a master's degree in Christian theology

[00:25:13] [SPEAKER_00]: And throughout that entire time I'm like I still don't know what God wants me to do

[00:25:18] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to commit my life to him and wanted to serve him some way but

[00:25:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Wasn't until early 2002 where

[00:25:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Like you know this internet thing is starting to become pretty popular

[00:25:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I wonder if any of us ever thought of doing something

[00:25:33] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how to have a community ministry online

[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_00]: But watch it just idea hey people can come and ask any question

[00:25:40] [SPEAKER_00]: I have about the Bible theology anything related to spirituality

[00:25:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Now I'll provide them I'll do our best to give them a good

[00:25:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Basically they say it's very well, it was such a huge need for it

[00:25:50] [SPEAKER_00]: It just completely exploded and so the last 22 and half years

[00:25:55] [SPEAKER_00]: God taking what we thought would be a hobby this would be something

[00:25:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Cool we do until God reveals whatever real ministry is calling us to

[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_00]: And little we know this was the real ministry is calling us to

[00:26:07] [SPEAKER_00]: So everyday I get to do this I love it

[00:26:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Love having a ministry position that's truly my dream job

[00:26:13] [SPEAKER_00]: So I'd pray to God for that

[00:26:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Let me just mention the book is out and of course while there are number

[00:26:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Section one is on questions about God's section two questions about salvation

[00:26:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Question section three questions about the church

[00:26:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Question four questions about theology section five questions about the end times

[00:26:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Section six the questions about the Old Testament number seven the questions about the New Testament

[00:26:36] [SPEAKER_02]: The questions about religions, cults and worldviews question number nine questions about sin

[00:26:41] [SPEAKER_02]: And finally questions about sexuality and section ten so a lot of great resources

[00:26:46] [SPEAKER_02]: And these are without a doubt the hundred most asked questions

[00:26:51] [SPEAKER_02]: So if people are maybe wanting to be equipped when they have led somebody to the Lord or maybe they want to disciple them

[00:27:00] [SPEAKER_02]: They are probably going to hear these questions and in some respects these have been sort of

[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Truth tested one because you know which questions are asked number two

[00:27:10] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure you've had to revise them over time maybe get some feedback and all those kinds of things

[00:27:16] [SPEAKER_02]: So this is a tremendous valuable resource that comes from your 22 years of doing ministry

[00:27:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly, you hit the nail in the head so it is said at the very beginning with the article of on doc questions

[00:27:28] [SPEAKER_00]: And our 22 year history of them red. I think we're approaching 2.5 billion times by five millions upon millions of people who visited the website over the years

[00:27:38] [SPEAKER_00]: And so adding all those statistics together in addition to the people actually come to the website and submit questions to us

[00:27:45] [SPEAKER_00]: We really have a good idea of what are the most commonly asked questions, what are the questions that people are really dealing with

[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_00]: And what are the questions that you're going to face is you're seeking to disciple someone and encourage someone

[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Whether it's an apologetics as a sense of the faith or just regular Christian living

[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_00]: These are the ones that people are most likely to accomplish, but studying familiar with these top 100

[00:28:09] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm giving you a huge step forward and advantage in just being prepared to give an answer

[00:28:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Let me just mention again that the book has been out since April so you might be able to find it in your local bookstore published by Bethany House

[00:28:23] [SPEAKER_02]: And it is a book that certainly has over 200 various pages and a hundred different questions

[00:28:31] [SPEAKER_02]: And so if you can find it I would encourage you do so, of course we have a link so that you can get paperback Kindle hardback whatever you might want

[00:28:38] [SPEAKER_02]: And so let's just give people some samples. I thought I picked the first one is Jesus God. Did Jesus ever claim to be God?

[00:28:44] [SPEAKER_02]: And you know as well as I do shade that sometimes will have people say I don't see any place where Jesus claimed to be God per se

[00:28:51] [SPEAKER_02]: And yet you give us examples of where he made those claims where his followers made claims and reasons why he must be God can you explain that for us

[00:29:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely the latest question is typically afraid of when someone

[00:29:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Searches for it or send it to on our website. It's like nowhere in the Bible, does Jesus say I am God

[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_00]: And if you look for those exact three words, I mean that statement is true. There's no place to skip forward

[00:29:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Jesus says exactly I am God, but there are other places where Jesus is very, very clearly that the heat is claiming to be God

[00:29:28] [SPEAKER_00]: A couple of examples in John 868 Jesus is in a debate with the religious leaders at the time and Jesus says before Abraham was born I am

[00:29:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Using the Old Testament name for God from Exodus 314 the I died because it's up to be the I am

[00:29:46] [SPEAKER_00]: And the first glance at all, how do you know that's what it means? Well the religious leaders took up stones to stone him and Jesus asked him

[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_00]: So why are you going to attempt to stone me and he says because you a mere man claimed to be God and Jesus didn't deny that same thing in John 1030

[00:30:03] [SPEAKER_00]: He says I am the father of one, well that could just mean that the United and purpose but the response of the religious leaders was attempt to stone Jesus again

[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Or claiming to be God you can look at early chapters of John where the word was God in John 11 and for 14 is the word became flesh and jumped among us

[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_00]: So you're John is saying the Jesus of the sky, the various places in scripture talks about Jesus being

[00:30:33] [SPEAKER_00]: God in the flesh and as you said earlier the most important reason

[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_00]: The only way that Jesus could be the sufficient payment for the sins of the whole world

[00:30:44] [SPEAKER_00]: He says going to you for the first shot

[00:30:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, where he says Jesus is the attorney sacrifice not for only our sins for the sins of the entire world

[00:30:53] [SPEAKER_00]: But a regular a normal human being could not pay for the sins of the entire world but God could so God

[00:31:01] [SPEAKER_00]: God Jesus the God man fully God fully man

[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_00]: He's fully God so his sacrifice was the infinite value

[00:31:08] [SPEAKER_00]: This fully human and that he could actually die those two things go together

[00:31:12] [SPEAKER_00]: The Jesus was the perfect and infinite payment to pay for the sins of the whole world

[00:31:17] [SPEAKER_00]: And we can ever since forgiven and be promised a eternal home and haven't by placing our trust in him

[00:31:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Relying on his death and resurrection as the sufficient payment for our salvation

[00:31:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Again, the book is 100 most asked questions about God in the Bible

[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Say let's see if we can maybe go to salvation

[00:31:35] [SPEAKER_02]: What does it mean to be a born again Christian?

[00:31:37] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm picking out some of course only one of these 100 or on the top 100

[00:31:42] [SPEAKER_02]: But some of these are ones that you receive more often

[00:31:44] [SPEAKER_02]: And there's a lot of confusion today about whether somebody's a Christian or not

[00:31:50] [SPEAKER_02]: And that's why I think that's very important question

[00:31:53] [SPEAKER_02]: What does it mean to be a born again Christian is one that you have been able to answer

[00:31:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Time and time again and actually lead to the salvation of individuals online, hasn't it?

[00:32:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Of course, the born again is because it carried on its own

[00:32:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Special meaning which once as I'm born again, I'll often do a lot of people that sound though

[00:32:14] [SPEAKER_00]: You're a religious nut like this extra level

[00:32:18] [SPEAKER_00]: And it's basically speaking a born again Christian is a Christian

[00:32:22] [SPEAKER_00]: When John chapter 3 when Jesus was parking with the KDMS he says

[00:32:26] [SPEAKER_00]: When someone is born again he can never enter the kingdom of God

[00:32:30] [SPEAKER_00]: So being born again, we all understand the process of being born

[00:32:33] [SPEAKER_00]: We're born physically into this world-lingering born

[00:32:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Not only the most specific about that process but to being born again means being born spiritually

[00:32:43] [SPEAKER_00]: We have physical life we'll be born the first time we have spiritual life

[00:32:47] [SPEAKER_00]: We'll be born the second time so I born again Christian is this someone who is placed his or her faith

[00:32:53] [SPEAKER_00]: And the Lord Jesus Christ and since forgiven becoming new creation therefore you are alive but physically and spiritually

[00:33:00] [SPEAKER_00]: So that's the essence of what it means to be born again

[00:33:03] [SPEAKER_00]: And just in terms of the type of questions we receive a lot of questions related south salvation

[00:33:09] [SPEAKER_00]: And what's so cool about that when we first launched the site we truly thought was going to be primarily a discipleship focused

[00:33:15] [SPEAKER_00]: There will be Christians or new Christians coming to us asking for what does the thought will ever mean

[00:33:21] [SPEAKER_00]: What does this deal out to go topic mean?

[00:33:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Well the first time someone asked me the question

[00:33:25] [SPEAKER_00]: How can I know for sure I go to heaven when I die?

[00:33:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Literally call out to my wife who is in the room is like can someone get saved on the internet?

[00:33:34] [SPEAKER_02]: And they're good.

[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Can you take a break?

[00:33:36] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm talking about talk about that because there's some great opportunities there

[00:33:38] [SPEAKER_02]: And again just taking something like the internet and using that for evangelism

[00:33:43] [SPEAKER_02]: We're going to continue our conversation with shape Michael.

[00:33:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Open right after this.

[00:33:56] [SPEAKER_01]: You're listening to point of view.

[00:33:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Your listener supported source for truth.

[00:34:03] [SPEAKER_02]: I've heard a few more minutes of shape Michael who had been and I might just mention we have a link to

[00:34:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Got questions dot o'er gee you can go there directly or you can follow our link

[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_02]: As you go there you'll see that so far there are 95 hundred articles

[00:34:17] [SPEAKER_02]: 15 million visitors last month

[00:34:21] [SPEAKER_02]: 722,000 email responses

[00:34:23] [SPEAKER_02]: There's the top 20 questions then some of the newest questions

[00:34:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Top 20 articles is a place where you can find common questions

[00:34:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Even ask a question you can even click the button that says random

[00:34:35] [SPEAKER_02]: I just pick any one of those and so it is just a great opportunity for education

[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_02]: But um, shape I thought first of all let's finish that off

[00:34:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Because you have seen that this has been a way to not only disciple believers

[00:34:48] [SPEAKER_02]: And answer their questions but has been an opportunity to really actually lead people to the Lord right there online

[00:34:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes it has and that was something that we really didn't expect

[00:35:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Truly we thought this would be the five of us of helping new believers

[00:35:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Understand God's word better get to know Jesus better

[00:35:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Walk more closely with him through having all their important questions answered on a biblical basis

[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_00]: But the first time someone asked us a question that was directly related to how can I be saved?

[00:35:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Since then we had many many opportunities to do that

[00:35:23] [SPEAKER_00]: So we've been focusing on God wants God questions.org to be both

[00:35:28] [SPEAKER_00]: You've handled them in discipleship

[00:35:30] [SPEAKER_00]: And so we now have 50 different articles that present the gospel

[00:35:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Just in a different way of asking the question whether it's

[00:35:38] [SPEAKER_00]: How can I be forgiven by God? How can I know for sure I'd go to heaven

[00:35:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Is there life after death? How can I be eternal life?

[00:35:46] [SPEAKER_00]: We visit the same gospel that is a different way of asking the question

[00:35:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Each month those articles are viewed hundreds of thousands of times

[00:35:54] [SPEAKER_00]: The people are reading the gospel on our site and every month we have thousands of people who indicate a decision to receive Christ

[00:36:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Now how many of those are genuine first time decisions to trust in Christ

[00:36:05] [SPEAKER_00]: They know we don't know these are just what people are indicating us

[00:36:09] [SPEAKER_00]: But even with the hundreds of thousands of people reading those pages how many of those are having a seed planted

[00:36:15] [SPEAKER_00]: That someone else later harvest or hopefully they find a good Bible teaching church in their area

[00:36:19] [SPEAKER_00]: And someone's able to follow up with them there

[00:36:21] [SPEAKER_00]: But we know God's using God questions in an evangelistic sense

[00:36:24] [SPEAKER_00]: And that was not what we originally anticipated

[00:36:27] [SPEAKER_00]: But we are so grateful that he's being fit to use it in that way

[00:36:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Again my assignment to you is to go to gotquestions.org sometime today

[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_02]: And check it out we have a link on our website

[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Or you can go there directly and find out a little bit more about that

[00:36:41] [SPEAKER_02]: You might want to then book market

[00:36:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Then the next time you have a question that comes up or you're witnessing to someone

[00:36:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Or maybe somebody says something at the lunchroom or over coffee

[00:36:52] [SPEAKER_02]: And you go wait a minute wait man

[00:36:53] [SPEAKER_02]: I know there's a place where they probably have the answer to that

[00:36:56] [SPEAKER_02]: There's 95 hundred articles

[00:36:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Probably your question has been that way

[00:37:00] [SPEAKER_02]: So as well and have a few minutes left

[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_02]: I thought I'd jump ahead to question number 66

[00:37:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Why is the resurrection of Jesus Christ important?

[00:37:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Because that is also very key to salvation

[00:37:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Of course you answer all sorts of other interesting questions about all sorts of other topics

[00:37:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Whether it's a tattoos or I'm just amazed all the questions that you get in their top 20 there

[00:37:23] [SPEAKER_02]: And a question about homosexuality of course and different kinds of sins

[00:37:27] [SPEAKER_02]: And all sorts of apologetic theology questions

[00:37:31] [SPEAKER_02]: But let's at least just wind down with that one

[00:37:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Because the resurrection is the key to, of course, the gospel is the key to teaching in terms of the Bible

[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_02]: And if it did not take place you possibly all tell us in first Corinthians

[00:37:44] [SPEAKER_02]: And we'd be the most to be pitted

[00:37:47] [SPEAKER_02]: But of course a resurrection did take place

[00:37:49] [SPEAKER_02]: But how do you answer the question that comes from some individuals who wonder why you keep bringing up this issue

[00:37:56] [SPEAKER_00]: And that's a great question and I love the path of you quoted in first Corinthians 15

[00:38:01] [SPEAKER_00]: But that's so important

[00:38:02] [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, we'll see what we want to focus on

[00:38:05] [SPEAKER_00]: The death of Jesus

[00:38:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously that's crucially important too

[00:38:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Jesus died for our sins according to the scriptures

[00:38:13] [SPEAKER_00]: His death was the accounting sacrifice for our sins

[00:38:16] [SPEAKER_00]: His death paid dependently that we deserved for our sins

[00:38:20] [SPEAKER_00]: But if Jesus had stayed dead

[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Our sins would be forgiven

[00:38:28] [SPEAKER_00]: But there would be nothing

[00:38:29] [SPEAKER_00]: We would die and basically cease to exist or we would stay dead

[00:38:34] [SPEAKER_00]: But because Jesus was resurrected

[00:38:36] [SPEAKER_00]: That's evidence that is sacrificed with sufficient

[00:38:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Through his resurrection the power that's there

[00:38:43] [SPEAKER_00]: And we will also be resurrected to an eternal life with God and heaven

[00:38:47] [SPEAKER_00]: So the death of Christ once I had a coin

[00:38:50] [SPEAKER_00]: So to speak if our sins are being covered for given

[00:38:53] [SPEAKER_00]: You're being redeemed from Stan

[00:38:56] [SPEAKER_00]: We're being reconciled with God

[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Within the resurrection is both evidence

[00:39:01] [SPEAKER_00]: The Jesus sacrificed with sufficient

[00:39:03] [SPEAKER_00]: And also gives us the hope

[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_00]: The one day we will be resurrected again

[00:39:06] [SPEAKER_00]: That's where our hope of

[00:39:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Eternity and our hope of being reunited

[00:39:11] [SPEAKER_00]: With our other loved ones in the lower

[00:39:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Our hope of experiencing

[00:39:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Regulation 21 and 22

[00:39:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Where there's no more fat, no more death, no more tears

[00:39:20] [SPEAKER_00]: All the wonderful, no more is

[00:39:22] [SPEAKER_00]: We'll experience some new heavens and new earth

[00:39:25] [SPEAKER_00]: So if the death and resurrection of Christ

[00:39:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Are both equally important in salvation

[00:39:30] [SPEAKER_00]: And we cannot neglect to discuss resurrection

[00:39:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Not just on Easter

[00:39:34] [SPEAKER_00]: But all year round to the celebration of the fact

[00:39:37] [SPEAKER_00]: The Jesus resurrection demonstrates

[00:39:39] [SPEAKER_00]: His death was sufficient

[00:39:41] [SPEAKER_00]: And our sins are forgiven

[00:39:42] [SPEAKER_00]: And we too one day will experience eternal life with Christ

[00:39:47] [SPEAKER_02]: So again, I encourage you to go to gotquestions.org

[00:39:52] [SPEAKER_02]: And I know that you are living in Colorado Springs

[00:39:55] [SPEAKER_02]: But I know also since you're working on your doctor

[00:39:57] [SPEAKER_02]: To Dallas Seminary

[00:39:58] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm hoping that sometimes soon

[00:40:00] [SPEAKER_02]: You'll be down here at DTS

[00:40:02] [SPEAKER_02]: And we'll get you in studio

[00:40:03] [SPEAKER_02]: And we can just do a whole hour or two on just kind of Bible

[00:40:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Answerman kinds of questions

[00:40:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Because there are many

[00:40:08] [SPEAKER_02]: And just even looking at your 100 most asked questions

[00:40:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Are going to your website and look at it

[00:40:13] [SPEAKER_02]: You're top 20

[00:40:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Those are questions that people deserve and answer for

[00:40:18] [SPEAKER_02]: And sometimes, of course, we're doing evangelism

[00:40:21] [SPEAKER_02]: People will just say what about, you know

[00:40:23] [SPEAKER_02]: And they're just using an excuse

[00:40:25] [SPEAKER_02]: But I've also found that oftentimes

[00:40:27] [SPEAKER_02]: The heart cannot accept with the mind rejects

[00:40:30] [SPEAKER_02]: And so people have honest questions

[00:40:32] [SPEAKER_02]: And you have done just an incredible job of answering those questions

[00:40:37] [SPEAKER_02]: And so I would encourage people to go to your website

[00:40:40] [SPEAKER_02]: There's a place of course where they can support you

[00:40:42] [SPEAKER_02]: If they would want to do so

[00:40:43] [SPEAKER_02]: And I just wish you well

[00:40:45] [SPEAKER_02]: And I just think, so highly of this book

[00:40:48] [SPEAKER_02]: It is again published by Bethany House

[00:40:50] [SPEAKER_02]: 100 most asked questions about 220 pages

[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Man, I might just mention that some of our staff

[00:41:14] [SPEAKER_02]: At point of view actually in Colorado Springs

[00:41:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe they should connect up with you

[00:41:18] [SPEAKER_02]: But let's just before we run out of time here

[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Have our video on voting

[00:41:43] [SPEAKER_02]: We have, of course, all sorts of other things

[00:41:47] [SPEAKER_02]: We have our take action item
