[00:00:04] Across America, Live, this is Point of View, Kirby Anderson. Second hour, we're going to spend some time kidding our minds off the midterm elections. Of course, we talked about that with Debbie West, now president of iVoterGuide in the first hour. But we're going to talk about hunting, going to talk about brain boosters. I think you're going to enjoy all of these conversations.

[00:00:34] And again, these are some resources that would be helpful to you and maybe something you can pass on to others. When I first heard about this book, I thought, well, let's see who's endorsing it. And it turns out it's Doug Shane, who is a state senator. I think he's a veterinarian, if I remember, right up there in Kansas. And he said, when Chad and James sent me the manuscript for 100 Days of Strength for Hunters, right before the rut in Kansas, he said, I knew that this would be something that would be beneficial to him.

[00:01:01] It was the right time for my heart to hear these messages and the rest. And so he talks about how this would be a great way to learn. And so we're going to be talking with Chad and James Hampton. He said, I was really excited to hear from these twins. They are pastors and in some respects show their passion for God and their passion for hunting. You may have been familiar with their previous book, Secrets of the Hunt.

[00:01:27] And this particular one, we're talking about 100 Days of Strength for Hunters. It seemed like a very appropriate time to talk about that. So Chad and James, thank you both for writing the book. And thank you for establishing this Hunting the Truth Ministries, which I want more people to know about. Thank you, Derek. Thank you so much for having us on. We appreciate it. And Derek is my producer. I'm Kirby, if you want to use my name. But nevertheless, I think you're going to benefit from this.

[00:01:55] And let's see if we can talk about this, because it's a devotional work. And I think both of you understand men don't read. They don't do much reading. And if they do, they read short. So I'll just pick the first day just as an illustration. You give us a psalm, Psalm 14, verse 2. And then what are we hunting for? A very short set of comments and then a possible prayer at the end. And it does seem to me that what you have done is put together something that men would read.

[00:02:24] And this, I think, opens up a whole area of ministry. And you found that by actually establishing. And you can go to hunting, leave off the G, huntingthetruth.com. Of course, we have a link on the website so that if this is something you would like to implement in your church or in your community, these two guys are ready to help you out. But tell us more, if you might. Yeah. So this is James, by the way.

[00:02:52] Back in 2004, God gave us the vision for Haunting the Truth Ministries. I was sitting in a tree stand deer hunting. And at that time in my life, I was going through some pretty big trials. My wife had just been diagnosed with cancer. Wow. And there were some other things going on that I just thought that things weren't going the way that I had planned them in my life.

[00:03:21] And of course, you know, the Bible says that a man plans his ways in his heart, but the Lord orders his steps. And so I had, I was very frustrated when I was sitting in the tree stand and I just said to God, okay, God, I've come to the end of myself. You know, obviously my plan is not working. What is your plan for my life? And I always carry a camel Bible in my backpack when I deer hunt. And I opened it up to that verse that you had just referenced, Psalm 14, 2.

[00:03:47] And that verse says that God looks down on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand or any who seek God. And Chad and I, as hunters, we know that the word seek and the word hunt had the same definition, and that is to pursue with force. And so I took that word hunt and put it in the verse for the word seek. And that verse says that God looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand or any who hunt for him.

[00:04:13] And I just felt that night that God was just sharing with me, I want you to hunt for me like you hunt for these deer. And I want you to teach my people to do the same the rest of your life. And so I went home and I called my brother Chad and I said, man, Chad, I had a pretty big encounter with God tonight. And I believe that God wants us to start a hunting ministry called Hunt and the Truth Ministries. I had been reading further in the Bible that night in John chapter 14 in verse 6.

[00:04:40] It says, Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man come to the Father except through me. And so I told Chad, I said, I believe God wants us to start a hunting ministry called Hunt and the Truth Ministries. And he wants us to teach everybody that we come in contact with how to hunt for him and find the purpose and the plan that he has for their lives. And so that's how Hunt and the Truth Ministries, and actually that's how the idea for our first book, Secrets of the Hunt, came about.

[00:05:08] Well, let me come to Chad because you are on the receiving end of some of that. What are your thoughts? Well, our mission has always been to teach people how to hunt for God and his plan for their life. And so this was just another tool for us to create to support our mission to help people. As you mentioned in that very first devotion, we made that devotion the very first one for a very specific reason,

[00:05:35] because we want everyone to start out knowing exactly what God's purpose is for their life. In hunting, when we go hunting, we are not going to hunt a deer like we hunt a turkey. You have to know what you're truly hunting for to start out a hunt. And it's the same way with our life. We teach people the very first devotion there is to know God's purpose for your life, to know exactly what you're hunting for. In the Bible, there's a man named Solomon. In the Old Testament, he was the king of Israel.

[00:06:04] And he taught us a very important lesson. And Solomon experienced everything that we could ever want to experience in this life because of what God gave him. He started his hunt out the right way. God came to him and said, I'll give you anything that you want. What is it that you want, Solomon? And Solomon said, I want wisdom to guide your people. And God gave him that, and then he gave him everything he didn't ask for.

[00:06:34] So his hunt started out correctly. And then Solomon wrote a book of the Bible, Ecclesiastes, 12 chapters, talking about his experience. And it's like you're sitting down with a celebrity, and you're saying, what is it like to have everything you could ever want in life? And Solomon starts out the book of Ecclesiastes in chapter 1, and he says, meaningless, meaningless, says the teacher. Everything is meaningless, which means without a purpose, a chase after the wind. And you think, how could that be?

[00:06:58] How could somebody who experienced everything in life that we would ever want to experience say that it is without a purpose? And we believe that his hunt went off the rails. He started out on the right hunt for God. Well said. And with love for God, he gave a thousand sacrifices. And then it became all about hunting material things that don't last. And we know that material things will not make us happy.

[00:07:23] The only relationship or the only thing we have in our life that will make us truly fulfilled is our hunt for God and a relationship with him and his plan for our life. I just mentioned that you have a number of devotions, and these devotions can be put in categories. For example, you have one set of categories. If God makes a promise, he fulfills it. And you have another one that gets into some other aspects of life. For example, O God, you are my God. I earnestly search for you. And then a variety of other ways in which you document this.

[00:07:53] So it's very readable. It's very short. It's the kind of book that you would want to give to your brother, your father, your husband. Frankly, I know a number of you women are hunters as well. I think you're going to find it very helpful. But it's just chock full of great biblical insight. So we're going to come back and talk a little bit more about how we can use that. Because in some respects, this is a resource that I thought you would like to know about.

[00:08:20] Especially as we come to Thanksgiving, we come to Christmas. As, of course, we're already in the hunting season right now. Nothing else takes our mind off of the midterm elections, which we'll be talking about a lot next week. And if you'd like to know more about these individuals, there's a great video, too. The Blessing of the Hunt presentation. So you can even get a sense of how they have done this and how you could do it in your own community or church.

[00:08:45] So visit the website right now, pointofview.net, or just go to huntingthetruth.com. We'll be right back. This is Viewpoints with Kirby Anderson. Marxist ideas are surfacing all over the world.

[00:09:09] We need to educate, especially the younger generation, about the toxic ideas developed by Karl Marx and spread through nearly every institution. Dr. Erwin Lutzer has written an important book, Marx and Moody, to educate Christians and draw some important distinctions between Marxism and Christianity. He was on my radio program to talk about his book and educate my listeners. We talked about the fact that he had been to both grave sites.

[00:09:33] As the former senior pastor of the Moody Church in Chicago, he often visited the grave of D.L. Moody in Northfield, Massachusetts. More recently, he was in London, and he stood by the grave of Karl Marx and delivered a message that warned about the incalculable danger and damage that resulted from the pen of Karl Marx. One of his chapters provides a summary of some of the major points of the Communist Manifesto. Another chapter deals with democratic socialism, which he calls Marxism-lite.

[00:10:00] These chapters clearly show the difference between a Marxist and Christian worldview. His chapters on D.L. Moody present a story of someone who many refer to as the Billy Graham of his day. Like Marx, he observed the problems of urbanization and industrialization. Chicago had poverty, human and animal waste, and many diseases. He preached the gospel, but also provided practical biblical programs to deal not only with people's souls, but with their significant social and moral problems.

[00:10:29] His book ends with a challenge, two tombstones, one choice. The question is, what will be our epithet on our tombstone? Individually and collectively, we need to answer that question. I'm Kirby Anderson, and that's my point of view. Go deeper on topics like you just heard by visiting pointofview.net. That's pointofview.net.

[00:11:00] You're listening to Point of View, your listener-supported source for truth. The Junior Conversation Day with Chad and James Hampton. The book is entitled 100 Days of Strength for Hunters. We have, of course, information about it on our website. Also, a link to Huntin' the Truth. You've got to leave the G off. Huntingthetruth.com. And I think you're going to find some great resources. And James, since you came up with the original kind of idea, I want to talk about how maybe we can implement this,

[00:11:26] because I get to travel from time to time to the radio stations that carry this program, and oftentimes I get to speak to the men's groups, and sometimes it is difficult to get men together. But our good friend Larry Moyer of Evantel has figured out a way to do that in terms of an evangelistic outreach, because he does what's called the Wild Game Feast. And if people go to your website, they will see on your media there the Blessings of the Hunt presentation.

[00:11:54] And it does seem to me that sometimes it's hard to get men out to a church event, but it is really easy to get them out to talk about hunting or sports or NASCAR, whatever it might be. And so is this not just a great venue by which we can get men involved? And then as they read the hundred different devotionals, that's going to take more than three months at least, that can really begin to strengthen them spiritually.

[00:12:21] But talk about how you see this book and some of the resources that you have available to every church in the country. Yes. So it's great that you mentioned that, because one of the biggest comments that we receive when we travel the country and speak from men specifically, they'll walk right up to us and they'll flat out tell us, you know, I would not come into this church on a Sunday morning for a church service,

[00:12:46] but it's been a great experience tonight or today coming in to this church to listen to an outdoor message and coming to this wild game dinner. Wild game dinner, sportsman's dinners, game feeds, those are the events that we speak at the most. And that's the biggest feedback we get from men saying that they're totally comfortable coming into a church to a game feed to hear a message, but they would never come into the church.

[00:13:14] And so that gives us the open door of opportunity to talk about 100 Days of Strength for Hunters. And even our first book, as you mentioned, Secrets of the Hunt. And in our first book, we give secrets. If our goal is to teach men how to hunt for God, we get to, at those game dinners, we get to teach those men the secrets on how to hunt for God. For example, just one of them, getting up early is one of the secrets in our book.

[00:13:42] Getting up early is essential to being successful on our hunt for God and getting a harvest in our spiritual life. And we always get to share with men. In the Bible, the Bible even talks about how Jesus got up in the morning. The Bible says he got up before the sun came up and he went out to a lonely place and he prayed to God often. And we get to share with men the different secrets,

[00:14:11] not only in hunting, but also in our spiritual life. If Jesus needed that, then we needed that. We need that. So that's just an example. Sure. Chad, let me come to you because again, you can bring some people along. I'm broadcasting from the Dallas area. And so I know we've taken men and women sometimes as well to the Dallas Safari Club, for example, which is where they have some of these outreaches. And there just seems to be to be a way in which we can find a point of commonality.

[00:14:38] And that can be a great evangelistic outreach. It can also be a great discipleship outreach as well. Can't it? Yes. Yes. Both. These events that we speak at are great evangelistic events. And then the tools that we have, the books we use for discipleship. But I'll tell you that one of the most surprising things that we found with both books, especially this one, and we tell people this all the time when we speak also,

[00:15:04] we're getting feedback online when people read our books from people that do not hunt. Sure. And we're finding out everybody's a hunter. We tell everybody it's not just people that hunt for animals. We're all hunters. We're all searching for something. We're all pursuing something. We're all hunting something.

[00:15:23] And so we've had several people already contact us that have read this devotional book that said that God has really spoke to them through the principles of teaching hunting animals also on how to hunt for God. That's been the biggest surprise that we've seen in the discipleship part of this book, A Hundred Days of Strength for Hunters. And I was just thinking about that. That was kind of my next comment because I'm not really a hunter. I'm a sporting clays kind of guy.

[00:15:49] But, again, I have benefited by these kinds of books and resources in the past. And just a few minutes ago, I made the point that we can't always just assume that this is only for men, although I've seen enough videos of what you guys do. It's mostly male. But there are hunters and women, but there are people that can benefit from some of the things that you have written in the past because you're well known for that first book.

[00:16:15] But I want you to be now known for this one because it's so hard to get a man to read anything. This is a small pocketbook. It's easy to put in their rucksack or their backpack. It's easy for them to read. And it's the kind of book that if you put it in their hands, I think they'll actually go about and read it, don't you think? Yes. It's very beneficial. It is a pocketbook. It's small. You can take it anywhere with you.

[00:16:40] And one of the main reasons we wrote this also is it's called the 100 Days of Strength for Hunters. As we all know, it takes strength to hunt anything with all your heart. Jesus said, love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. It takes a lot of energy, a lot of strength to hunt anything with all your heart. So we wanted to create a tool, a discipleship tool for hunters especially, but not everyone. And it's just a short, like you said, it's got a story, it's got a verse, a prayer,

[00:17:10] and an application that will give them daily strength on their hunt for God and plan for their life. Let me just mention, too, we've got all sorts of links. For example, you might say you're talking about this presentation, which, by the way, is on the website, but we have a link to YouTube. And so then you go to the Hunting the Truth Ministries there. We have a link to Facebook. We have a link to Instagram. There are all sorts of ways in which you can connect up. But let's, if we can, maybe I'll come back to you, James, just for a minute, talk about how people can connect up with you.

[00:17:39] I certainly would recommend your previous book, Secrets of the Hunt. I think that's both for men and women. And even this 100 Days of Strength thing, women can benefit, but it's almost designed to be stuck in the backpack or in the back pocket of a guy. And really there's a sense in which that is the case. But how can people connect up with you? They might say, this is the very thing we need to really launch our men's ministry.

[00:18:06] And we broadcast from Florida to Maine, from California to Alaska. I have run over the years into many of our listeners who are hunters or love the outdoors and would benefit from that. So how can they connect up with you? Yes. So our main hub, really, our main place to connect with us would be TwinFactorTV.com. If somebody goes to that website, they can purchase a signed copy of our book, 100 Days of Strength, there. They can also see our speaking tour.

[00:18:35] And they can also inquire to have us come speak at their event. So TwinFactorTV.com. Someone can learn all about us there. And also, as you mentioned, our second website, HuntinTheTruth.com. People can go there as well. And they can donate to our ministry. They can inquire through that website as well. But TwinFactorTV.com would be our main website. So, again, some great resources for people to do so.

[00:19:02] And what would that require if somebody wanted to bring you on the particular church campus or something of that nature? What could they possibly begin thinking about in terms of making this possible? Yeah. So if someone wants to inquire, just go to the website, inquire through there. We will contact them.

[00:19:24] And we will, you know, discuss their event, what their goals are, what their mission is, how we can help them if they have a theme for their event, and also, you know, how we can partner with them to make their event successful. So, again, TwinFactorTV.com. We didn't have that one up there, but we'll see if we can post that later. And it's just a great way to see you guys in camo and all sorts of things that are part of that experience.

[00:19:54] And, again, I have been at least a little bit aware of the secrets of the hunt, but I was just thrilled to find out that you have a book called 100 Days of Strength for Hunters. If you're looking for a Christmas present, a birthday present, or maybe just, hey, a celebration, because I know you're going to go out hunting, why don't you take this book with you, stick it in there with all the other supplies you're going to have, and read it around the campfire. I would certainly recommend that. And, Chad and James, thank you for giving us some time to talk about this,

[00:20:24] and thank you for developing this ministry. Thank you for having us. Thank you so much for having us. Yes. We're going to take a break, and when we come back, we'll get into some other issues, because you might say, well, I'm not a hunter. But if you're concerned about keeping your brain alive and really functioning, that's the last half hour we're going to focus on today with a very good book called Brain Boosters by Jill Hovind, who's a RN, and we'll get into some of those details. But one last time, some of you are probably looking at, okay, how do I get to it?

[00:20:55] TwinFactorTV.com, and we'll give you that link. We'll post it on the website and make it easier for you to connect up with them. Of course, we already have the Hunting the Truth Ministries and all sorts of resources at our website, PointOfView.net. Hope that this can maybe spawn some new and even more vibrant men's ministries around the country, because we're really dedicated to building godly men, and this might be one more way to do so. Let's take a break.

[00:21:22] We'll cover some other very important topics right after this. At PointOfView, we believe there is power in prayer, and that is why we have relaunched our Pray for America campaign, a series of weekly emails to unite Americans in prayer for our nation.

[00:21:48] Imagine if hundreds of thousands of Americans started praying intentionally together on a weekly basis. You can help make that a reality by subscribing to our Pray for America emails. Just go to PointOfView.net and click on the Pray for America banner that's right there on the homepage. Each week you'll receive a brief news update, a specific prayer guide,

[00:22:16] and a free resource to equip you in further action. We encourage you to not only pray with us each week, but to share these prayers and the resources with others in your life. Join the movement today. Visit PointOfView.net and click on the banner Pray for America right there at the top. That's PointOfView.net.

[00:22:42] Let's pray together for God to make a difference in our land. Point of View will continue after this. You are listening to Point of View. The opinions expressed on Point of View do not necessarily reflect the views of the management or staff of this station.

[00:23:12] And now, here again, is Kirby Anderson. In fact, once again, one of the things we have started to do more and more of here at Point of View is to focus on some of the emotional and spiritual wellness that we all need. And that's why when I heard about this book, Brain Boosters, Soul, Mind, and Body Edition, which, again, we'll get into in more detail, I think it's going to be very helpful to you. In the chapters, there's a section on connecting to the source, soul wellness,

[00:23:39] channeling your thoughts, mind wellness, and bearing fruit, body wellness. But, first of all, let's, if we can, talk about the author, which is Jill Hoven, who is a registered nurse, a founder and director of Memory Minders, holds a bachelor's degree in nursing from Carroll University, and has been a nurse for more than 40 years. But, interestingly enough, has really had to address this issue of dementia in her parents.

[00:24:06] And, in some respects, that has really provided an opportunity to develop this very significant ministry. And, also, of course, the book that we've talked about, we have information about that on our website, which you can go and click on and learn more about. But, let's, if we can, first of all, Jill, welcome you to Point of View. Thank you so much, Kirby. Pleasure to be here. You and I have something in common, much in common, obviously not just our Christian convictions,

[00:24:35] because I had to deal with parents that had Alzheimer's. You had to deal with a parent that had dementia. You've had an understanding of others that have. And, even as I was sharing some people, it's not just in my own family, but even the founder of a ministry that I still now am heading up was dealing with this issue of dementia. So, this is a big issue. It's an issue that the church needs to address. And, that's, of course, why you founded the organization

[00:25:04] that we're going to be talking about, isn't it? Yes, partially. And, it all stemmed a lot from my faith. And, God led me through when my mom was experiencing memory issues and led me to what I'm doing now through my faith and through my church. So, all glory to God in all of it. And, just excited to talk about it. Well, listen, we can kind of break it down. First of all, what is wellness? This is, of course, first part of your book.

[00:25:33] And, I think we sort of think, well, you know what it is, but you take us down some directions that we need to think about. So, can you kind of give us a short analysis and evaluation of wellness? Because that's our standard for which we're going to talk about these other different aspects. Right. Wellness, in my opinion, is how we live our day-to-day lives in soul, mind, and body.

[00:25:59] It is the concept where I can be well because I am well in my soul, even if I have dementia or cancer or any other physical ailment. So, wellness is just not something that is only our body. I believe wellness stems from our soul, is directed by our mind,

[00:26:21] and is manifested in our body through our actions and through the fruit that we bear each day. And so, we can have a body that is physically ill, but we can still be well in different areas. And so, by way of history, my mom suddenly ended up with some short-term memory loss. And I, as an ICU nurse, was well-equipped with caring for her body,

[00:26:50] but the memory issues kind of threw me for a loop. And so, she passed away fairly quickly within a year of her diagnosis, and I was looking for what was next. And God directed me on a medical mission trip, which led me to a mission group at church, which led me to an idea to form memory groups in our community. And I got some additional training and went ahead and did that.

[00:27:16] And I found that I was able to help people in our community much more than I was able to help my mom at the time with this additional information. And that's what I'm trying to share with the world through these books. I created all these mental fitness puzzles to coincide with the education I was providing my clients and the people in our community. And then a few years after I began Memory Minders and these groups, my dad developed vascular dementia as well.

[00:27:45] And so, I was able to help him in a much more meaningful way, and so was our family, because of all of this. And so, God directed my steps all along the way, and it's just a joy to be able to share it with others now. And again, I'm so grateful for the material you put together. And again, we have information about the book and about your ministry and a number of others. We have the website. We have a link to Facebook and Instagram and X and all sorts of other things.

[00:28:12] Again, you can find the link to her website, which is on our website, jillmhoven.com. And, of course, you don't have to remember all that because you just click on the material next to her picture, and that is the case. One other comment real quickly, because you do talk about the fact that wellness is a choice. And it does seem to me that there are some things that we can and should do, especially as we talk about body, soul, and mind, that we can do and should be doing, because in some respects, if we just allow nature to take its course

[00:28:42] and we don't do some preemptive kinds of actions, including, of course, as we're going to talk about in just a minute, many of the brain puzzles and others in your book, well, then we are going to end up with that diagnosis. And it does seem to me that we should recognize that wellness is a choice, isn't it? It absolutely is. We make thousands of choices every single day, from the moment we wake up and how much sleep we received,

[00:29:09] and we're preemptive in getting that sleep, as well as what we're eating, how we're exercising, how we are strengthening our mind in learning new things and doing things differently. So wellness is a choice that we are making repeatedly, day in and day out. And my advocation to everyone is to choose well.

[00:29:33] So whether it's what we're eating, how we're exercising, and even in our relationships, in our attitude, and our faith-based wellness as well, like choosing to go to church instead of sleeping in or going to a football game or something. I mean, we all understand there are choices.

[00:29:56] And when we choose to be well in all of the three areas, soul, mind, and body, we then have a better life as we age. Alzheimer's is being called a middle-aged disease because of the choices we make all throughout our lives impact how we age in our later years. So choices matter. And I'm just advocating for everyone to choose well. In the books, I try to go through all that.

[00:30:25] And, yeah. Let's see if we can maybe get into where we actually plant our soil, if you will, because you begin Chapter 1 with Jeremiah 17 about the fact that we are like trees planted along a riverbank with roots that reach deep into the water. That's because then our leaves stay green. They never stop producing fruit. In a minute we're going to talk about our mind, but for a moment our soul is key to that as well.

[00:30:52] And that's one aspect as a Christian you bring to this conversation that other people working in memory care may or may not bring to the discussion. And that's why you start with that chapter, isn't it? Absolutely. I truly do believe that as I was reading all this research on memory wellness and things we can do for our mind and our body to help us as we age, I kept thinking, well, that's in the Bible. And, yeah, there that is.

[00:31:19] And I love it when science continually proves everything in the Bible correct. And so I just wanted to share that there is science behind all this, but this is also biblical. And so what I am sharing in these books is based on both science and a faith-based perspective. I agree that there is sort of a lack of this kind of perspective in this area of health and wellness,

[00:31:45] and so I'm trying to put that together and share those two aspects because I realized that it was integral to my health and my wellness as I've been doing this for the last 20 years. I noticed all areas of my life improved when I started making these choices, especially the soul-based choices, grounding myself in the word and prayer every day, then set my mind on a direction that could then make better choices for my body.

[00:32:15] And so I saw that with my dad, even though, you know, his mind had been deteriorating, he still had a basis in his soul wellness. And it just was so magnificent for me to see, and I just wanted to share it. We're going to take a break. When we come back, though, I think we'll talk about some of those various aspects because you have some that are like word associations, some that are like crossword puzzles,

[00:32:42] some that look at maybe different aspects of faith or Christian culture and a variety of things, some which are maybe rhyming words, some that come in different numbers or various ones that are repeating, what maybe certain things have in common, all sorts of different ways in which you're really stimulating our mind with word groupings and threes and fours, as you call it, and three, fours, and fives, and many other studies.

[00:33:09] So there's an interesting set of tests and an interesting set of various ways in which you, no matter where you are on that spectrum, whether you're dealing with dementia or trying to prohibit or prevent it, I think you're going to benefit from this. And again, the book is entitled Brain Boosters, Soul, Mind, and Body Edition, more than 145 plus brain puzzles and Bible verses to inspire and encourage wellness.

[00:33:37] We'll continue our conversation with Jill right after these important messages. You're listening to Point of View, your listener-supported source for truth.

[00:34:03] Back once again, let me just encourage you, there's all sorts of things that you can find and resources. You have some that are like spiral-bound, others that are paperback. I might also point you to the previous book, which dealt with some of the brain booster issues as well, memory techniques, mental fitness for adults. So there's a lot of resources there. But whether you look at the particular one I'm talking about at the moment, Brain Boosters, Soul, Mind, and Body Edition,

[00:34:29] or some of the others, I think, Jill, it would be good to maybe explain the various kinds of puzzles that you have because each one of them kind of works in different ways and thus keeps your mind sharp. And there are some real significant reasons why you use these rather than just any kind of particular puzzle that an individual might use just because they were on an airplane or they're just kind of trying to keep their mind sharp.

[00:34:58] There's an intentionality to some of these, aren't there? Absolutely. I am trying to work as many different parts of your brain as I can with all of the different puzzles. So visual, spatial, words, numbers. We practice memory techniques in each of the puzzles. And the way this all came about is when I was doing these groups, I wanted to reinforce the information that I was educating my clients

[00:35:27] and our groups on. And so if I was talking about sleep or exercise or, you know, eating well, I wanted to then have a puzzle about that. So I slowly started creating these puzzles. And each puzzle, I was trying to access a different part of the brain. When we do things that are outside our comfort zone, when we do things that come a little bit more difficult

[00:35:52] or a little bit more challenging for us, we're then exercising and strengthening that area. If all we do is the same thing, we're only going to just get better at that one thing. And so doing different types of puzzles and accessing different areas of our brain to connect the information is important to keeping all those brain connections secure, activated, and then continuing to grow over the course of our lifetime.

[00:36:22] So, again, as you said, each one of them is a little bit different. And we might for just a minute, I'm not trying to be critical, but I think it would be worth mentioning why you do what you do compared to some of these other more generic, less biblical puzzle books. Because any puzzle book probably is good, but a lot of these are based upon working not only different parts of the brain, but a lot of them are based upon biblical principles too, aren't they? Yes.

[00:36:52] And I loved creating more of the faith-based puzzles as well to get that information into your brain in different ways. We read the Bible, we, you know, attend worship, and we get this information through prayer or however we communicate with God. But when we can do a puzzle that reinforces that same information, it's getting that into our brain in a different way. And so I loved including that aspect.

[00:37:21] Many different puzzle books will have one type of puzzle or maybe a couple different types of puzzles. I'm trying to give you a wide variety of puzzles, but also into difficulty levels, so that it can help someone who maybe is starting to have some issues or someone who is really trying to challenge their brain. And so you can note that in the books. But there are so many different types of puzzles in here.

[00:37:48] It's just a way for you to continue to activate and engage your mind in so many different ways. I love words. And if I'm given a choice, I would do word searches all day long. But that's not going to help the part of my brain that deals with numbers or visual things. And so the more different types of puzzles you can do, the better it is for your brain. You might talk about the differences because, of course, we've posted some information about your previous book.

[00:38:17] This one just came out here in October. But as people go to a bookstore, maybe they will find one or the other. But we also have a link to your website so that if people are saying, well, I'd like to just maybe interact with you a little bit longer and learn a little bit more about some of the ways in which I can do that, there's a place where people can sign up to get updates, maybe even get some additional information. So you can talk maybe for just a minute about all the different ways in which memory minders

[00:38:46] can maybe minister to their children, their adults, their peers, their neighbors, their friends, whoever it might be, because this is a very significant issue, which seems to be increasing in our population and something we need to address. Absolutely. I feel that as the baby boomers are aging, we're having increased awareness of brain wellness, and that's because, you know, it's impacting them and their generation.

[00:39:15] And so you can find so many different resources through memoryminders.net, and you can sign up, as you mentioned, to get a newsletter that comes out at least once a month. I have a lot of tips and strategies and faith-based encouragement as well. And I just really like to encourage people. So there's typically different blogs. I have resources that list brain games you can purchase,

[00:39:45] or I have curriculum if you're trying to start a memory program in your area. So lots of different information available there. And on social media, I try to encourage people. You mentioned briefly the previous book that's a little bit more the faith and memory book, Brain Boosters. It's more memory-specific. It goes through different memory techniques and strategies and things we can do that are a little bit more specific to our memory.

[00:40:14] But faith-based encouragement is woven in throughout as well as more and more puzzles. So lots of different ways to connect with brain wellness and memory wellness and through a soul, mind, and body approach. Let me just mention again, this is published by Broad Street, which our last half hour was as well. And we talked with them about what they could do to develop their ministry in the church. Jill, I think you probably have the same opportunity.

[00:40:42] There's a place where people, if they go to your website, can follow your blog, but also a place for speaking and maybe even consulting, because it does seem to me that we haven't done the best job we could possibly do of reaching out to people that are having mental challenges. And you could maybe provide some consultation, maybe even come and speak on that issue. And help launch a ministry, don't you think? Absolutely.

[00:41:09] I love to share this information with whoever is interested and wants to be proactive about their wellness. And I do believe that people are quiet about this issue when it starts to impact them or their family. And I was no different. But yet it's important for us to get this information out to the world.

[00:41:30] And just like cancer used to be a stigma, dementia is and becoming less of one, because it is impacting more and more of us. And the more we learn about it, the more we talk about it, the more we embrace and can empathize with people that are going through this and share their struggle with them, the better it's going to be for all of us.

[00:41:57] God calls us to walk alongside people and share their burdens. And that's what I've learned has been beneficial for me. And I want to share that with as many people as possible. So thank you for offering that. I would love to do that. Well, again, all the information on our website. You can find out more about her. Find the websites. Find all the social media. Find out more about brain boosters. And, Jill, a very significant need. I'm thrilled that you have been involved in that.

[00:42:25] And thank you for writing these two books and other resources that are available. So thank you for joining us today here on Point of View. Thank you so much, Kirby. I appreciate the opportunity. Let me, just before we say goodbye for today, mention that a lot of the material we have covered today, we've talked about two different books. We've talked about the iVoter Guide. And you find, say, boy, there's a lot there. I need to get some of that. Well, you can go to the website, pointofview.net. Matter of fact, I might encourage you to get the app. Put it on your phone.

[00:42:54] That's an easy way to get access to it instantaneously. But it's all available at the website, pointofview.net. As always, I want to thank Megan for her help engineering the program. Derek, thank you for producing the program. See you back here tomorrow, right here on Point of View. In 19th century London, two towering historical figures did battle, not with guns and bombs, but words and ideas.

[00:43:23] London was home to Karl Marx, the father of communism, and legendary Baptist preacher Charles Spurgeon. London was in many ways the center of the world economically, militarily, and intellectually. Marx sought to destroy religion, the family, and everything the Bible supports. Spurgeon stood against him, warning of socialism's dangers. Spurgeon understood Christianity is not just religious truth.
