[00:00:02] [SPEAKER_02]: HALTER 1

[00:00:04] [SPEAKER_02]: ACROSS THE MARICATE

[00:00:06] [SPEAKER_02]: LIGHT

[00:00:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Join us. We're going to be talking about the Vice Presidential Debate for a little bit,

[00:00:25] [SPEAKER_01]: and if you had a chance to watch it, even if you did not,

[00:00:27] [SPEAKER_01]: maybe have a comment or question.

[00:00:29] [SPEAKER_01]: We would love to hear from you. 1-800-351-1212.

[00:00:33] [SPEAKER_01]: But if we can, it is important to recognize

[00:00:36] [SPEAKER_01]: that the Vice Presidential Debate

[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_01]: is a little different than a presidential debate.

[00:00:41] [SPEAKER_01]: As a matter of fact, the editors at the Wall Street Journal put it this way.

[00:00:46] [SPEAKER_01]: The political cliche is that vice presidential debates don't matter to the ultimate election result.

[00:00:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes and no. Sometimes the negative experience in a debate does not help a candidate.

[00:01:02] [SPEAKER_01]: A positive one maybe doesn't bump it up much.

[00:01:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Some people thinking that the performance by J.D. Vance might move the needle.

[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Not sure that anything that Tim Walsh did would move the needle.

[00:01:13] [SPEAKER_01]: But the editors at the Wall Street Journal went on to say this.

[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Even if it turns out to be true that it didn't affect the result, it was at least helpful

[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_01]: because Americans were able to watch a substantive debate that came closer to reveal the election choice

[00:01:30] [SPEAKER_01]: than anything their running mates had to offer.

[00:01:33] [SPEAKER_01]: As a matter of fact, their byline was,

[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_01]: both vice presidential candidates put on a better, more informed debate than their presidential running mates.

[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_01]: You heard me say that yesterday and it's worth mentioning again.

[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_01]: There are some difficulties with the people at the top of the ticket.

[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'll try to be fair here because you're talking about the word salads that you get,

[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_01]: oftentimes from Kamala Harris or the rambling answers that sometimes you get from Donald Trump.

[00:02:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Nobody can accuse, especially J.D. Vance of rambling,

[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_01]: he has this kind of laser-like focus and ability to really take on an issue, explain it.

[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_01]: And at one point when they were fact checking him, he said,

[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_01]: OK, I'm going to fact check you now because as we tried to explain yesterday,

[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_01]: this temporary particular situation which has brought Haitians in is anything but temporary

[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_01]: and has been manipulated, but we'll leave that for another day.

[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Interestingly enough, the editors of the Wall Street Journal went on to say

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_01]: that the Ohio senator was respectful, well-prepared, articulate,

[00:02:40] [SPEAKER_01]: and relentless in reminding voters about the flaws of what he called the Kamala Harris administration.

[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Mr. Walston-Wallston was also likable they said,

[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_01]: but seemed sometimes frenetic and maybe, of course, he didn't have his footing right away.

[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think the other issue that we like to talk about as much as anything is the moderators.

[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_01]: And the moderators are, again, a problem.

[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_01]: First of all, you can think of all the topics that weren't addressed either in the presidential debate,

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_01]: which was ABC or the vice presidential debate, which is CBS.

[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And China is one very good example.

[00:03:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Tim Walz was never asked how many times he's gone to China.

[00:03:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes he's admitted that he's been to China at least 30 times.

[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_01]: There are stories of him passing out copies of Mao's little red book about him really,

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_01]: in some respects, being a very significant conduit through China.

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_01]: That is of issue.

[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_01]: It did sort of surface only in a tangential way when they raised the question of Mr. Walz,

[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I should say, were you in Tenement Square?

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Because it's pretty obvious that you weren't in Tenement Square.

[00:03:59] [SPEAKER_01]: You then sort of said you were in Hong Kong, but you really weren't there either.

[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And eventually he said, well, I just sort of on one of those bone-hit things I say.

[00:04:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, that gets us back to the fact that every time we seem to turn around,

[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Tim Walz, whether he's talking about his military service or various events that took place in his life,

[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_01]: seem to be, let it be generous, exaggerated, is that fair?

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe not well represented.

[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe just completely made up.

[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_01]: And this I think is another issue that certainly was not going to be covered.

[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And there are some that said that as helpful as it was for JD Vance to kind of,

[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_01]: as they said by The Wall Street Journal, sanding down some of the sharp edges of Republican policy.

[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_01]: At the same time he could have worked a little harder perhaps to actually point out some of the striking differences

[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_01]: between the Republican platform and the Democratic platform

[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_01]: of some of the really unbelievable policies that have been implemented by Tim Walz in Minnesota.

[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Some of the policies that again, Kamala Harris has supported, which are very much out of the mainstream.

[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_01]: So lots that we can talk about, but let's take some phone calls along the way.

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_01]: And so we'll go first of all to Arizona.

[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_01]: KNLB Lana, what would you like to add to our conversation today?

[00:05:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, good afternoon, Kirby.

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for taking my call.

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_00]: I was overwhelmed and prayerfully thankful that you and Mr. Delaney is sharing about the trafficking problem here.

[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_00]: It's far worse than people even realize, and I just wanted to share and thank you so much for sharing it.

[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_00]: We here in the Prescott, Prescott Valley area, we're involved in this right now.

[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_00]: And we have a ranch that we're doing a fundraiser with Jim Cavizzo in November.

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_00]: So we're trying to help these trafficked children because it's happening right here, even in Prescott.

[00:05:59] [SPEAKER_00]: They've had a lot of things here.

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Children as young as even four have been abused and been trafficked.

[00:06:06] [SPEAKER_00]: So I just wanted to share and I just talked to Steve and I was going to send you an email with the information.

[00:06:13] [SPEAKER_00]: But thank you so much because we need to do something about these children.

[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_00]: God is not going to allow these children to be trafficked and abused like this.

[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_00]: And of course our signal is hope for little hearts.

[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_00]: And I have a shirt that I wear around town and it says God's children are not for sale.

[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_00]: So we need to get the word out more and more.

[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_00]: People are not aware of this problem.

[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_00]: And I just want everybody, your listeners to realize that this problem is far more serious than they even realize.

[00:06:43] [SPEAKER_00]: A lot of people aren't even aware of this.

[00:06:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Well I appreciate you taking that on because for most of our listeners around the country,

[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_01]: probably don't know where Prescott is.

[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_01]: I've been there twice but they might think it's close to the border near Tucson but no it's not.

[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not a place where you would think trafficking would take place and it's a good illustration.

[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_01]: We're not just talking about what happens in Laredo, Texas or Tucson, Arizona or San Diego, California.

[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_01]: We're talking about you're much more in the interior of Arizona and yet you're dealing with the issue as well.

[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_01]: So I really want to applaud you for standing up for that and give us an update on how the fundraiser goes.

[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well I have to give credit to a couple in town that own a business here.

[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_00]: They have a furniture store.

[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_00]: They're the ones that are notified that they wanted to do something and they're stepping out in faith

[00:07:32] [SPEAKER_00]: and we're trusting the Lord to at least start a facility here somewhere outside of the Prescott area,

[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_00]: some kind of a ranch because these children need a lot of counseling,

[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_00]: especially the young children from 4 to 12 because there's very few facilities that are taking on these children

[00:07:48] [SPEAKER_00]: and they need a lot of counsel and a lot of love and spiritual guidance to get them through this trafficking

[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_00]: because I can't even imagine how they're abused all day long with these children.

[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, I will share with your producer there.

[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_00]: I will send an email of more information and I will keep you updated on how the progress is going.

[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_00]: A lot is going to depend on we're hoping to get with Jim Cavizo as our guest speaker in November at the Prescott Resort.

[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_00]: We're hoping that we're going to have the funds.

[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_00]: We're hoping to, we've been looking at property.

[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_00]: We need about 10 acres or more to at least start out with 10 children,

[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_00]: maybe up to maybe housing up to 100 children, young children.

[00:08:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Very good. Well, we're going to take a break and again, we'll give you more information about that as it comes along.

[00:08:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Of course the film City of Dreams and it is about human trafficking and child labor.

[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll come back right after these important messages.

[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_03]: This is Viewpoints with Kirby Anderson.

[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I want to talk about the word Unconfiscatable.

[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Apparently it is not even a word found in many dictionaries,

[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_01]: which is why when I write it on my word processor, it has a red squiggly line beneath it.

[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Mitchell Askew brought my attention to this word in his latest book.

[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_01]: He argues that the word isn't used because nearly every asset we own can be confiscated.

[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_01]: For example, the money that you have in the bank or the funds that you have in the stock market

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_01]: or through an IRA or 401K are ultimately in the hands of a third party.

[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_01]: So that means it is possible that they or the government could prevent you from getting your money.

[00:09:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Just ask the people in Turkey who felt they needed to rob their local bank

[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_01]: so that they would get the money they put in the bank.

[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Just ask the Canadian truckers who had their bank accounts frozen by the government.

[00:09:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Now something that would be more difficult to confiscate would be what we refer to as a bearer asset.

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_01]: That means that you have possession of it.

[00:09:58] [SPEAKER_01]: One example would be gold.

[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_01]: If you take possession of gold coins and put them in a safety deposit box in the bank,

[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_01]: you have possession of them.

[00:10:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Or do you?

[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_01]: In 1933, Franklin Delano Roosevelt issued Executive Order 6102

[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_01]: that required Americans to give up most of their gold in exchange for cash.

[00:10:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Now we always assume that we have an inalienable right to private property.

[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_01]: But sometimes, in other countries, the right to property can be lost.

[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_01]: That is why Mitchell Askew argued that Bitcoin is unconfiscatable as a form of property.

[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_01]: It cannot be taken from you and it can be moved to anywhere in the world.

[00:10:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Few other assets in the world are truly unconfiscatable.

[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm Kirby Anderson, and that's my Point of View.

[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Your listener supported Source for Truth.

[00:11:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm Kirby Anderson, and that's my Point of View.

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_01]: You might say Bird's Eye View, or maybe a little more invasive and immersive experience,

[00:12:06] [SPEAKER_01]: is an article from Daily Mail because there's a series of videos there

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_01]: which give you an idea of what people in Israel are actually having to endure.

[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_01]: The very remarkable success of the Iron Dome,

[00:12:22] [SPEAKER_01]: which has been successful in most cases,

[00:12:25] [SPEAKER_01]: of shooting down most of those missiles.

[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_01]: But also there is a very effective infographic for those of you that are watching online,

[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_01]: or maybe can watch later.

[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_01]: There is this graphic I'm holding up here which explains exactly what we are dealing with

[00:12:43] [SPEAKER_01]: in terms of the number of armed forces in Iran compared to Israel,

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_01]: the defense budget, the number of combat aircraft, navy ships,

[00:12:54] [SPEAKER_01]: all sorts of things, tanks and the rest.

[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_01]: And so it's a very well done piece which gives you lots of facts, figures and illustrations.

[00:13:04] [SPEAKER_01]: So if you would like to know more about Israel's defense against Iran's attack,

[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_01]: that is an article that I would certainly encourage you to print out

[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_01]: or else just watch on your computer, maybe send some of the material to friends,

[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_01]: neighbors and coworkers that are concerned about what is happening there.

[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_01]: This is dangerous. It is an existential threat to Israel.

[00:13:28] [SPEAKER_01]: And as we've pointed out before, it's one thing to be fighting a war with Hamas

[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_01]: in the southwest of Israel now to fight another war with Hezbollah to the north

[00:13:39] [SPEAKER_01]: and then now to have missiles launched from Tehran and places around Iran to Israel

[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_01]: is just really devastating.

[00:13:48] [SPEAKER_01]: And those kinds of actions I think are done, one, to wear down Israel

[00:13:53] [SPEAKER_01]: but eventually exhaust all of the defense capabilities

[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_01]: because every time you shoot down a missile,

[00:14:01] [SPEAKER_01]: then the opportunity to defend against the next missile drops down

[00:14:05] [SPEAKER_01]: because you start running out of supplies.

[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And of course we've heard stories of the fact that even in the Mediterranean Sea

[00:14:14] [SPEAKER_01]: there is an Iranian intelligence ship that is actually sending information

[00:14:20] [SPEAKER_01]: and coordinates to the Houthis.

[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_01]: And if, say, I don't know, Ronald Reagan were the president,

[00:14:27] [SPEAKER_01]: maybe even Donald Trump were the president,

[00:14:29] [SPEAKER_01]: he'd order that that ship be ushered out of the Mediterranean

[00:14:35] [SPEAKER_01]: or actually dropped in torpedoed.

[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_01]: So that shows you the lack of real intense concern on the part of the American people.

[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_01]: And so again, we give you that article and one next to it

[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_01]: is by our good friend Dennis Prager who actually wrote,

[00:14:52] [SPEAKER_01]: People hate those who hate evil far more than those who are evil.

[00:14:58] [SPEAKER_01]: And he starts out by saying this is something I realized when I was in high school.

[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I realized that people tend to hate those who fight evil far more than they hate those

[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_01]: who are engaged in doing evil.

[00:15:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And he said what made him come to that conclusion was seeing how people reacted to communism

[00:15:15] [SPEAKER_01]: and then how they reacted to anti-communism.

[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_01]: He goes through the litany of numbers that we've used before,

[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_01]: but let's repeat them one more time.

[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Communists murdered over 100 million people, all noncombatants and innocents.

[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Stalin murdered about 30 million people including 5 million Ukrainians by starvation.

[00:15:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Mao killed 60 million people, Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge,

[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_01]: the Red Cambodians killed another 3 million when it ever fought Cambodian.

[00:15:44] [SPEAKER_01]: The North Korean communist regime killed about 2 million and 3 million.

[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_01]: And again you have of course the million that were killed in the Korean War

[00:15:53] [SPEAKER_01]: by the North Korean communists.

[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_01]: And so he said you would think that anyone with a functioning conscience

[00:15:58] [SPEAKER_01]: with any degree he says of compassion would hate communism,

[00:16:03] [SPEAKER_01]: but instead back then he remembers how anybody who was identified as an anti-communist

[00:16:09] [SPEAKER_01]: was dismissed as a cold warrior, a warmonger, a red-bater or the rest.

[00:16:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Now you can kind of see where he's going with this

[00:16:18] [SPEAKER_01]: because it brings us back to the issue of Israel.

[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Israel he says is a liberal democracy with an independent judiciary,

[00:16:25] [SPEAKER_01]: independent opposition press, equal rights for women, gays and its Arab population,

[00:16:31] [SPEAKER_01]: 20% of the Israeli population.

[00:16:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Its enemies, the Iranian regime Hamas and Hezbollah allow no such freedom

[00:16:39] [SPEAKER_01]: to those under their control were relevantly their primary goal.

[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Indeed their stated reason for being is to wipe out Israel

[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_01]: and its Jewish inhabitants.

[00:16:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Hamas and Hezbollah have built nothing, absolutely nothing he says in Gaza

[00:16:57] [SPEAKER_01]: and Lebanon respectively.

[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_01]: They exist solely to commit genocide against Israel and its Jews

[00:17:02] [SPEAKER_01]: and then goes on to talk about some other things but then ends by simply saying

[00:17:07] [SPEAKER_01]: of course there's one additional reason for hating Israel,

[00:17:10] [SPEAKER_01]: one that is specific to Israel rather than those who seek to exterminate Israel,

[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Jew hatred better known as anti-Semitism.

[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think it is interesting in a really troubling situation

[00:17:23] [SPEAKER_01]: in which people tend to hate those who fight evil more than they hate the people

[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_01]: that actually perpetrate that evil.

[00:17:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's why I thought it would be worthwhile for you to read that piece as well.

[00:17:38] [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to come back from the break and talk with an individual

[00:17:41] [SPEAKER_01]: with a fellowship of Christian athletes and end it on a little more positive note

[00:17:45] [SPEAKER_01]: and also talk about some real opportunities for you to be involved.

[00:17:48] [SPEAKER_01]: But let me also mention that we will be watching the Longshoreman strike,

[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_01]: the dock worker strike which hardly got much, it got some mention but not much last night

[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_01]: and it is I think an illustration that again the head of the International

[00:18:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Longshoreman's Association Harold Daggett says that his union members believe

[00:18:10] [SPEAKER_01]: that they deserve a piece of the multi-billion dollar pie that is the world's largest

[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_01]: shipping companies that actually made much of that money during the pandemic.

[00:18:22] [SPEAKER_01]: As you know we talked about the fact that they're seeking a 77% pay increase

[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_01]: and the argument being made right now is that we will just strangle the supply chain

[00:18:34] [SPEAKER_01]: and really cut it off.

[00:18:36] [SPEAKER_01]: The President, that would be President Biden, he still is President by the way

[00:18:40] [SPEAKER_01]: even though sometimes it's hard to see any presidential action he's taking

[00:18:44] [SPEAKER_01]: would have the opportunity to actually invoke what is called the Taft-Hartley Act

[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_01]: that was implemented in 1947 that would then force strikers to go back to work

[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_01]: for an 80 day cooling off period and thus I think increase the possibility

[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_01]: that there would be some kind of resolution. They have not met to face to face

[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_01]: as I pointed out since June and so as a result since he does not want to anger

[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_01]: the unions he will not do that and as I pointed out yesterday again I think

[00:19:18] [SPEAKER_01]: I can now document this with the material I have in front of me,

[00:19:21] [SPEAKER_01]: a strike lasting even one week could tie up ships for much longer periods

[00:19:26] [SPEAKER_01]: which would exacerbate shipping delays, eat up capacity and drive up freight rates

[00:19:33] [SPEAKER_01]: according to people that work in the industry. I've heard some say that for every day

[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_01]: there's a strike and now we're in the second day it takes at least six or seven days

[00:19:43] [SPEAKER_01]: to recover even if we resolve this by the end of the week

[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_01]: and we're on Friday in our weekend edition talking about the fact that

[00:19:51] [SPEAKER_01]: we've now resolved the strike it doesn't mean that everything will be back to normal

[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_01]: until about election day and that I think should be a sobering reminder

[00:20:01] [SPEAKER_01]: of how dependent we are of course on supply chains and upon those individuals

[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_01]: that are dock workers and upon those containers that are being shipped over here

[00:20:12] [SPEAKER_01]: every day by ships and at least on the east coast all the way from Maine to Texas

[00:20:18] [SPEAKER_01]: east coast and the Gulf certainly are not going to be unloaded

[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_01]: and there are all sorts of consequences to that as well.

[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_01]: So again I wanted to continue following that story I think it may affect you more

[00:20:31] [SPEAKER_01]: than any of the other stories we're talking about

[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's maybe one of the reasons why I'm going to go to our grocery store

[00:20:37] [SPEAKER_01]: and notice a lot of people seem to be stocking up on things like paper towels

[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_01]: and toilet paper and extra food and those kinds of things

[00:20:46] [SPEAKER_01]: maybe they know something that you and I don't know

[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_01]: and so I thought I would bring that up as another issue

[00:20:52] [SPEAKER_01]: that certainly was worthy of some discussion last night

[00:20:55] [SPEAKER_01]: and worthy of our discussion throughout the rest of the week.

[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_01]: One last time let me mention that I did send out and it came out about noon today

[00:21:04] [SPEAKER_01]: an email that gave you an opportunity to join with us on the Truth Team

[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_01]: and if you haven't done so and would like to do so

[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_01]: you can follow the link on the website

[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_01]: give us a call 800-347-5151

[00:21:17] [SPEAKER_01]: of course go to the website pointofview.net

[00:21:20] [SPEAKER_01]: let's take a break we have a lot more to cover

[00:21:22] [SPEAKER_01]: we'll do that right after this.

[00:21:30] [SPEAKER_03]: At Point of View we believe there is power in prayer

[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_03]: and that is why we have relaunched our Pray for America campaign

[00:21:39] [SPEAKER_03]: a series of weekly emails to unite Americans in prayer for our nation

[00:21:46] [SPEAKER_03]: imagine if hundreds of thousands of Americans started praying intentionally together

[00:21:53] [SPEAKER_03]: on a weekly basis you can help make that a reality

[00:21:57] [SPEAKER_03]: by subscribing to our Pray for America emails

[00:22:00] [SPEAKER_03]: just go to pointofview.net

[00:22:04] [SPEAKER_03]: and click on the Pray for America banner

[00:22:07] [SPEAKER_03]: that's right there on the home page

[00:22:09] [SPEAKER_03]: each week you'll receive a brief news update

[00:22:12] [SPEAKER_03]: a specific prayer guide

[00:22:14] [SPEAKER_03]: and a free resource to equip you in further action

[00:22:18] [SPEAKER_03]: we encourage you to not only pray with us each week

[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_03]: but to share these prayers and the resources with others in your life

[00:22:27] [SPEAKER_03]: join the movement today

[00:22:29] [SPEAKER_03]: visit pointofview.net

[00:22:32] [SPEAKER_03]: and click on the banner

[00:22:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Pray for America right there at the top

[00:22:37] [SPEAKER_03]: that's pointofview.net

[00:22:39] [SPEAKER_03]: let's pray together for God to make a difference in our land

[00:22:46] [SPEAKER_03]: to View, you are listening to Point of View

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_03]: the opinions expressed on Point of View do not necessarily reflect the views of the management or staff of this station

[00:23:09] [SPEAKER_03]: and now here again is Kirby Anderson

[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_01]: back once again let's if we can talk about fellowship or Christian athletes

[00:23:16] [SPEAKER_01]: we've been talking a lot of heavy stuff and I think it would be an encouragement to you

[00:23:20] [SPEAKER_01]: as we wind down the program today

[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_01]: to talk about a ministry that maybe you know something about

[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_01]: but we're going to try to educate you a little bit more

[00:23:27] [SPEAKER_01]: about how you can work with this organization

[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_01]: maybe encourage young people that are in the sports field

[00:23:34] [SPEAKER_01]: to see this as a wonderful ministry

[00:23:36] [SPEAKER_01]: you can go to fca.org

[00:23:40] [SPEAKER_01]: fellowship or Christian athletes

[00:23:42] [SPEAKER_01]: and we are privileged to have Josh Gilreith with us

[00:23:45] [SPEAKER_01]: he is the chief operating officer

[00:23:47] [SPEAKER_01]: for the fellowship of Christian athletes

[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_01]: graduated from Mississippi State University

[00:23:52] [SPEAKER_01]: and then really felt that he was well-discipled

[00:23:55] [SPEAKER_01]: because of what was happening there at FCA

[00:23:58] [SPEAKER_01]: served as a graduate assistant football coach

[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_01]: at Mississippi State and then Indiana University

[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_01]: got involved with the FCA through team chapels and coach huddles and things like that

[00:24:09] [SPEAKER_01]: but now has been named FCA's chief sport officer

[00:24:13] [SPEAKER_01]: and chief operating officer

[00:24:15] [SPEAKER_01]: so Josh welcome to point of view

[00:24:18] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm glad to be with you this afternoon Kirby

[00:24:20] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm calling in from my home in North Carolina

[00:24:24] [SPEAKER_04]: certainly thinking about all the people just a few miles to the west of me

[00:24:28] [SPEAKER_04]: we still don't have power at our home

[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_04]: but it's really significant impact just to the west of where we live

[00:24:33] [SPEAKER_04]: and certainly praying for all the people that were impacted by the storm

[00:24:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm glad you brought that up because we have been trying to cover that as best we can

[00:24:41] [SPEAKER_01]: we have of course radio stations in that area

[00:24:44] [SPEAKER_01]: and some have been affected

[00:24:45] [SPEAKER_01]: as a matter of fact some people even calling in last week

[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_01]: during our truth team to say well I want to support the ministry

[00:24:50] [SPEAKER_01]: but actually I don't even have power on right now

[00:24:53] [SPEAKER_01]: the lights are not on but it's fortunately sunny

[00:24:55] [SPEAKER_01]: and so I wanted to call you

[00:24:57] [SPEAKER_01]: because at least I have phone service

[00:24:59] [SPEAKER_01]: so first of all let's give everybody a background

[00:25:02] [SPEAKER_01]: if you go to fca.org

[00:25:04] [SPEAKER_01]: there's a section there that talks about what is fca

[00:25:08] [SPEAKER_01]: and many people refer to it as faith plus sports equals fca

[00:25:13] [SPEAKER_01]: really uniting these two passions of faith and athletics

[00:25:17] [SPEAKER_01]: but you've had a personal experience as well

[00:25:20] [SPEAKER_01]: so how do you describe it when people ask about fca?

[00:25:24] [SPEAKER_04]: Kirby you did a great job with it

[00:25:26] [SPEAKER_04]: it is faith and athletics

[00:25:28] [SPEAKER_04]: and the only other word I would add to faith

[00:25:31] [SPEAKER_04]: for clarification is faith in Jesus

[00:25:33] [SPEAKER_04]: and that's my experience with what fca has always been about

[00:25:39] [SPEAKER_04]: there you mentioned that attended Mississippi State University

[00:25:42] [SPEAKER_04]: as a college walk on football player and athlete

[00:25:46] [SPEAKER_04]: I was quickly brought in by my peers to be a part of the fca huddle

[00:25:51] [SPEAKER_04]: and that's simply where people would sit in a circle

[00:25:55] [SPEAKER_04]: they would huddle up

[00:25:57] [SPEAKER_04]: not necessarily in a physical circle

[00:25:59] [SPEAKER_04]: but they would huddle up to talk about God's word

[00:26:02] [SPEAKER_04]: the fellowship with one another and the prayer

[00:26:05] [SPEAKER_04]: and that introduced me to some lifelong friendships

[00:26:08] [SPEAKER_04]: and it was a big part of my journey

[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_04]: and growing as a disciple of Christ

[00:26:13] [SPEAKER_04]: and those circles, those huddles

[00:26:16] [SPEAKER_04]: are literally taking place all over the globe

[00:26:19] [SPEAKER_04]: in over 100 countries

[00:26:20] [SPEAKER_04]: and all praise be to God that people

[00:26:23] [SPEAKER_04]: or athletes have a platform

[00:26:26] [SPEAKER_04]: and a place that they can gather

[00:26:28] [SPEAKER_04]: and sport naturally builds community

[00:26:31] [SPEAKER_04]: it just naturally builds community

[00:26:33] [SPEAKER_04]: but when you insert into that community

[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_04]: a broader purpose

[00:26:39] [SPEAKER_04]: it also naturally brings about purpose

[00:26:43] [SPEAKER_04]: but when you look at a more higher purpose

[00:26:46] [SPEAKER_04]: the purpose of being a Christ follower

[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_04]: and what our life is all about

[00:26:49] [SPEAKER_04]: and you bring that into sports

[00:26:51] [SPEAKER_04]: and point that and that's all centered around Christ

[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_04]: which creates an incredible dynamic

[00:26:56] [SPEAKER_04]: and that's what we call a huddle

[00:26:57] [SPEAKER_01]: This we can talk about that

[00:26:59] [SPEAKER_01]: because more than 20,000 certified huddles

[00:27:03] [SPEAKER_01]: 115 countries

[00:27:04] [SPEAKER_01]: talk about what happens there

[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_01]: because I think some people have the sense

[00:27:08] [SPEAKER_01]: that maybe it's unstructured

[00:27:10] [SPEAKER_01]: and just some people pull out a Bible

[00:27:12] [SPEAKER_01]: and give a couple verses

[00:27:13] [SPEAKER_01]: but there's a lot more to it

[00:27:15] [SPEAKER_01]: and maybe you can give us some of the inside

[00:27:17] [SPEAKER_01]: look on what happens in a typical FCA huddle

[00:27:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely

[00:27:23] [SPEAKER_04]: There's always some lighthearted things

[00:27:24] [SPEAKER_04]: to build a little fellowship

[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_04]: and open up conversations, build relationships

[00:27:31] [SPEAKER_04]: but as I said sport kind of naturally produces that

[00:27:34] [SPEAKER_04]: and does that

[00:27:35] [SPEAKER_04]: so if you have a team huddle or a school huddle

[00:27:37] [SPEAKER_04]: for the most part those relationships

[00:27:40] [SPEAKER_04]: are pretty firmly established at some level

[00:27:42] [SPEAKER_04]: just through participation in sport

[00:27:44] [SPEAKER_04]: because you're a teammate

[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_04]: but then when you come and sit in the FCA

[00:27:49] [SPEAKER_04]: huddle our strategy for discipleship

[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_04]: it's called E3

[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_04]: you want to engage the heart of people

[00:27:55] [SPEAKER_04]: you want to equip them with God's word

[00:27:57] [SPEAKER_04]: and you want to empower them to live out

[00:28:00] [SPEAKER_04]: to great commission

[00:28:00] [SPEAKER_04]: so as a community in a huddle

[00:28:02] [SPEAKER_04]: we're looking at those three E's

[00:28:05] [SPEAKER_04]: and what a typical huddle may look like

[00:28:07] [SPEAKER_04]: is we do a lot of what we call the Discovery Bible Study Set

[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_04]: so we'll read the scriptures

[00:28:14] [SPEAKER_04]: more than one time as a group

[00:28:16] [SPEAKER_04]: and then we'll ask some questions

[00:28:18] [SPEAKER_04]: what does this say about God

[00:28:20] [SPEAKER_04]: what does this say about man

[00:28:21] [SPEAKER_04]: and then what application does it have for me today

[00:28:24] [SPEAKER_04]: and how will I live that out

[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_04]: and when you discuss those questions

[00:28:28] [SPEAKER_04]: along with being able to share prayer requests

[00:28:31] [SPEAKER_04]: a deeper level of community

[00:28:33] [SPEAKER_04]: and relationship is built in what was forged

[00:28:35] [SPEAKER_04]: just in the sport

[00:28:37] [SPEAKER_04]: and you're developing a life-long friendship

[00:28:39] [SPEAKER_04]: and you're sharpening yourself

[00:28:41] [SPEAKER_04]: and growing in your relationship with Christ

[00:28:43] [SPEAKER_01]: let's talk about the camp as well

[00:28:45] [SPEAKER_01]: because you have camps

[00:28:47] [SPEAKER_01]: and there are resources

[00:28:48] [SPEAKER_01]: which I want to point people to

[00:28:49] [SPEAKER_01]: the greater athletes handbook

[00:28:52] [SPEAKER_01]: and the greater team handbook

[00:28:53] [SPEAKER_01]: greater coach handbook

[00:28:54] [SPEAKER_01]: all those

[00:28:55] [SPEAKER_01]: but again talk about those camps

[00:28:57] [SPEAKER_01]: because that may be something

[00:28:58] [SPEAKER_01]: that some of our listeners might be interested in

[00:29:01] [SPEAKER_01]: they might want to get their

[00:29:03] [SPEAKER_01]: grandchildren

[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_01]: children and grandchildren involved in that

[00:29:06] [SPEAKER_01]: in some way

[00:29:08] [SPEAKER_04]: absolutely FCA camps

[00:29:10] [SPEAKER_04]: you know it's a change of place

[00:29:11] [SPEAKER_04]: change of pace

[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_04]: in life

[00:29:14] [SPEAKER_04]: everybody needs to slow down some

[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_04]: and then it ultimately results in a change

[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_04]: in perspective

[00:29:20] [SPEAKER_04]: so when you get away for FCA camp

[00:29:22] [SPEAKER_04]: it's inspiration

[00:29:23] [SPEAKER_04]: and perspiration

[00:29:24] [SPEAKER_04]: there's a lot of sweating going on

[00:29:26] [SPEAKER_04]: because there's a lot of athletics taking place

[00:29:28] [SPEAKER_04]: in fun hearted competition

[00:29:31] [SPEAKER_04]: people are able to grow in their

[00:29:32] [SPEAKER_04]: sport but more importantly

[00:29:34] [SPEAKER_04]: they'll be able to grow in their faith

[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_04]: and so FCA camps were established

[00:29:40] [SPEAKER_04]: in Estes Park Colorado

[00:29:41] [SPEAKER_04]: and moved to Black Mountain North Carolina

[00:29:44] [SPEAKER_04]: which the people that live in Black Mountain

[00:29:46] [SPEAKER_04]: are certainly recovering today from the hurricane

[00:29:50] [SPEAKER_04]: but FCA camps have grown all over the world

[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_04]: and tremendous amounts of

[00:29:55] [SPEAKER_04]: coaches and athletes every year gather together

[00:29:58] [SPEAKER_04]: for a period of three to five days

[00:30:00] [SPEAKER_04]: really enjoy great fellowship

[00:30:03] [SPEAKER_04]: they are catalytic

[00:30:04] [SPEAKER_04]: and what I mean by that is

[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_04]: when you leave the camp you do

[00:30:09] [SPEAKER_04]: feel a greater sense of inspiration

[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_04]: and purpose

[00:30:13] [SPEAKER_04]: and typically go back to your place of

[00:30:16] [SPEAKER_04]: daily belonging

[00:30:16] [SPEAKER_04]: and wherever your team is

[00:30:18] [SPEAKER_04]: or wherever your school is

[00:30:21] [SPEAKER_04]: and you begin to establish

[00:30:23] [SPEAKER_04]: or work with or connect

[00:30:24] [SPEAKER_04]: with FCA huddles

[00:30:26] [SPEAKER_04]: and your local church

[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_04]: we really encourage people to get plugged into

[00:30:30] [SPEAKER_04]: their local body as well

[00:30:31] [SPEAKER_01]: and I thought I'd bring that up

[00:30:33] [SPEAKER_01]: because we oftentimes

[00:30:35] [SPEAKER_01]: see young people that

[00:30:36] [SPEAKER_01]: maybe wouldn't even want to go inside a church

[00:30:40] [SPEAKER_01]: but through athletics

[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_01]: where maybe that is their passion

[00:30:44] [SPEAKER_01]: they learn about Christ

[00:30:46] [SPEAKER_01]: they grow in their faith

[00:30:47] [SPEAKER_01]: and then they get involved in the church

[00:30:49] [SPEAKER_01]: and I think that FCA has been

[00:30:51] [SPEAKER_01]: very significant in terms of reaching

[00:30:54] [SPEAKER_01]: sometimes the unchurch young people

[00:30:56] [SPEAKER_01]: of course it also reaches the church kids as well

[00:30:59] [SPEAKER_01]: they're probably the first to

[00:31:00] [SPEAKER_01]: sometimes join a FCA huddle

[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_01]: but it I think becomes a very effective

[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_01]: strategy to reach out to other young people

[00:31:08] [SPEAKER_01]: who probably would not find any

[00:31:10] [SPEAKER_01]: interest in going to church

[00:31:11] [SPEAKER_01]: but oftentimes will at least

[00:31:13] [SPEAKER_01]: come to an FCA event

[00:31:15] [SPEAKER_01]: and then because of that learn a little bit more

[00:31:18] [SPEAKER_01]: maybe even become a Christian

[00:31:19] [SPEAKER_01]: certainly start growing in their faith

[00:31:20] [SPEAKER_01]: and thus get involved in the local church

[00:31:24] [SPEAKER_04]: You're absolutely right Kirby

[00:31:26] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean so many kids

[00:31:28] [SPEAKER_04]: in our youth today are influenced

[00:31:30] [SPEAKER_04]: by sports and it's a very easy first step

[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_04]: for many people to

[00:31:34] [SPEAKER_04]: in their inner faith journey to explore

[00:31:37] [SPEAKER_04]: faith or try to learn more about their faith

[00:31:40] [SPEAKER_04]: by a Christian athlete who has great influence

[00:31:44] [SPEAKER_04]: and what we also find

[00:31:46] [SPEAKER_04]: and you don't have to be a professional athlete

[00:31:48] [SPEAKER_04]: to have great influence

[00:31:50] [SPEAKER_04]: that any athlete on their campus

[00:31:52] [SPEAKER_04]: has some degree of influence

[00:31:54] [SPEAKER_04]: with their peers leadership capacity

[00:31:56] [SPEAKER_04]: and those huddles

[00:31:58] [SPEAKER_04]: because it's like-minded people

[00:32:01] [SPEAKER_04]: people that you know on your team

[00:32:02] [SPEAKER_04]: and you're already participating with

[00:32:04] [SPEAKER_04]: in some other sport activity

[00:32:06] [SPEAKER_04]: it really is a very welcoming

[00:32:08] [SPEAKER_04]: and open place for someone to

[00:32:11] [SPEAKER_04]: who maybe is not as comfortable

[00:32:13] [SPEAKER_04]: going into a church on Sunday

[00:32:15] [SPEAKER_04]: at least if this juncture in their faith journey

[00:32:18] [SPEAKER_04]: but there are open to stepping into the huddle

[00:32:21] [SPEAKER_04]: because they already know some of the people there

[00:32:22] [SPEAKER_04]: they look alike

[00:32:23] [SPEAKER_04]: they sometimes the huddles happen

[00:32:25] [SPEAKER_04]: either before practices or after practices

[00:32:28] [SPEAKER_04]: so they've already been together that day

[00:32:31] [SPEAKER_04]: and it's just a really great place

[00:32:34] [SPEAKER_04]: to build a community

[00:32:35] [SPEAKER_04]: for people to take so many people

[00:32:36] [SPEAKER_04]: take their first step in their faith journey

[00:32:38] [SPEAKER_04]: in our FCA huddle.

[00:32:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's take a break when we come back

[00:32:41] [SPEAKER_01]: we'll continue your conversation with

[00:32:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Josh for a few more minutes

[00:32:44] [SPEAKER_01]: if you'd like to join us

[00:32:46] [SPEAKER_01]: 1-800-351-1212

[00:32:48] [SPEAKER_01]: if you maybe have a testimony about

[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_01]: working with FCA or just have some questions

[00:32:52] [SPEAKER_01]: we'll just be with him a little bit longer

[00:32:54] [SPEAKER_01]: but let me mention as we go to the break

[00:32:57] [SPEAKER_01]: there is a link to FCA.org

[00:33:00] [SPEAKER_01]: it stands for fellowship of Christian

[00:33:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Athletes FCA.org

[00:33:04] [SPEAKER_01]: we're going to come back and talk about how you can get involved

[00:33:06] [SPEAKER_01]: and there are different levels

[00:33:08] [SPEAKER_01]: you know if you're an athlete

[00:33:09] [SPEAKER_01]: or you have a child or grandchild as an athlete

[00:33:11] [SPEAKER_01]: or a coach

[00:33:12] [SPEAKER_01]: you can also be a volunteer

[00:33:14] [SPEAKER_01]: of course you can be a donor

[00:33:15] [SPEAKER_01]: we'll also talk about some of the resources

[00:33:17] [SPEAKER_01]: that you would benefit

[00:33:19] [SPEAKER_01]: in terms of learning a little bit more about training

[00:33:21] [SPEAKER_01]: and ministry and the rest

[00:33:22] [SPEAKER_01]: so this is an organization I wanted you to know about

[00:33:25] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's one which is certainly having an impact

[00:33:28] [SPEAKER_01]: and I think it would be good for you

[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_01]: to find out if there is an FCA

[00:33:32] [SPEAKER_01]: in your local community

[00:33:34] [SPEAKER_01]: if not find out what it would take

[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_01]: to get one started

[00:33:37] [SPEAKER_01]: let's take a break we'll be back right after this

[00:33:39] [SPEAKER_02]: 2-Point of View

[00:33:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Josh Gilruth for just a few more minutes

[00:34:03] [SPEAKER_01]: and again he is the chief operating officer

[00:34:05] [SPEAKER_01]: for fellowship of Christian athletes

[00:34:07] [SPEAKER_01]: and Josh I think first of all

[00:34:09] [SPEAKER_01]: there are people listening right now that say

[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_01]: you know I know my son is not

[00:34:13] [SPEAKER_01]: really interested in church but he really loves sports

[00:34:15] [SPEAKER_01]: or my grandson or granddaughter

[00:34:17] [SPEAKER_01]: has really gotten to be quite an athlete

[00:34:19] [SPEAKER_01]: and I'd like to have some kind of

[00:34:21] [SPEAKER_01]: spiritual input

[00:34:22] [SPEAKER_01]: in their lives and maybe could encourage

[00:34:25] [SPEAKER_01]: them to join FCA

[00:34:27] [SPEAKER_01]: but they might be saying I don't even know

[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_01]: how to connect up with FCA

[00:34:30] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't even know if there is a

[00:34:33] [SPEAKER_01]: fellowship of Christian athletes

[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_01]: individual or chapter

[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_01]: in my community so how do they find some

[00:34:39] [SPEAKER_01]: of that out?

[00:34:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah absolutely I would recommend

[00:34:43] [SPEAKER_04]: going to FCA.org

[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_04]: and there's places in there where you can search

[00:34:46] [SPEAKER_04]: by zip code you can put your zip code

[00:34:48] [SPEAKER_04]: or address to him and you can find the nearest

[00:34:51] [SPEAKER_04]: local staff member

[00:34:52] [SPEAKER_04]: and simply reach out to that staff member

[00:34:55] [SPEAKER_04]: through phone or email

[00:34:56] [SPEAKER_04]: and learn more about

[00:34:58] [SPEAKER_04]: the presence of FCA

[00:34:59] [SPEAKER_04]: in your local community

[00:35:01] [SPEAKER_04]: and if it's not

[00:35:04] [SPEAKER_04]: as close to you as you would like I'm sure

[00:35:06] [SPEAKER_04]: we would really appreciate you

[00:35:08] [SPEAKER_04]: praying about those different

[00:35:10] [SPEAKER_04]: opportunities. The plentiful harvest

[00:35:11] [SPEAKER_04]: and we're always asking the Lord for Labor

[00:35:13] [SPEAKER_04]: almost every FCA staff person has their

[00:35:16] [SPEAKER_04]: alarm set at 9.38 a.m.

[00:35:18] [SPEAKER_04]: and we pray for a plentiful

[00:35:20] [SPEAKER_04]: harvest and forgot to raise up

[00:35:22] [SPEAKER_04]: laborers and maybe there's some volunteers

[00:35:23] [SPEAKER_04]: or people in the community that you live

[00:35:25] [SPEAKER_04]: that would help start one if it doesn't exist

[00:35:27] [SPEAKER_04]: already close to you.

[00:35:28] [SPEAKER_01]: And I just mentioned there's a button there

[00:35:30] [SPEAKER_01]: to be part of FCA as a volunteer

[00:35:33] [SPEAKER_01]: of course there's also opportunities

[00:35:35] [SPEAKER_01]: for an athlete or a coach

[00:35:36] [SPEAKER_01]: almost everybody knows some coach yesterday

[00:35:39] [SPEAKER_01]: we were talking of course about the movie

[00:35:41] [SPEAKER_01]: of Coach Kennedy a case went all the way

[00:35:43] [SPEAKER_01]: the Supreme Court

[00:35:44] [SPEAKER_01]: but there are coaches that we all know

[00:35:47] [SPEAKER_01]: coaches that maybe were very

[00:35:49] [SPEAKER_01]: significant in our lives

[00:35:50] [SPEAKER_01]: or in the lives of our children

[00:35:52] [SPEAKER_01]: and grandchildren that we want to know

[00:35:54] [SPEAKER_01]: so there's a button there that says get started

[00:35:57] [SPEAKER_01]: there's a place where you can actually

[00:35:58] [SPEAKER_01]: find out about an FCA near you

[00:36:00] [SPEAKER_01]: but what can people

[00:36:02] [SPEAKER_01]: do to get involved? We talked about being a

[00:36:04] [SPEAKER_01]: volunteer but maybe we've got some

[00:36:06] [SPEAKER_01]: people listening right now that are coaches

[00:36:08] [SPEAKER_01]: and thought I never really even thought

[00:36:10] [SPEAKER_01]: about getting involved with FCA. What can that

[00:36:12] [SPEAKER_01]: entail and how can they find out more?

[00:36:16] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah we have some incredible

[00:36:18] [SPEAKER_04]: training opportunities for coaches

[00:36:20] [SPEAKER_04]: specifically and for volunteers

[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_04]: for coaches we have something called

[00:36:24] [SPEAKER_04]: 360 coach that

[00:36:26] [SPEAKER_04]: helps train a coach on how to

[00:36:28] [SPEAKER_04]: coach the athlete from a holistic

[00:36:30] [SPEAKER_04]: perspective so not just

[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_04]: physical and tactical

[00:36:35] [SPEAKER_04]: performance related issues

[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_04]: but also how do you coach their

[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_04]: emotional being

[00:36:39] [SPEAKER_04]: their soul

[00:36:42] [SPEAKER_04]: man but then how do you even

[00:36:44] [SPEAKER_04]: coach their spirit? How did you help develop

[00:36:46] [SPEAKER_04]: them spiritually? So it's

[00:36:48] [SPEAKER_04]: an online course that's free

[00:36:50] [SPEAKER_04]: to any coaches

[00:36:52] [SPEAKER_04]: and it's an incredibly impactful

[00:36:54] [SPEAKER_04]: curriculum. We have

[00:36:56] [SPEAKER_04]: coaches time outs for coaches

[00:36:58] [SPEAKER_04]: and their spouse to get away for weekends

[00:37:00] [SPEAKER_04]: and be encouraged

[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_04]: on how to grow in their

[00:37:04] [SPEAKER_04]: faith as well. For the volunteers

[00:37:06] [SPEAKER_04]: we have E3 training

[00:37:08] [SPEAKER_04]: online for volunteers

[00:37:10] [SPEAKER_04]: it's a discipleship training

[00:37:12] [SPEAKER_04]: program that can be done in online

[00:37:14] [SPEAKER_04]: segments at your pace

[00:37:15] [SPEAKER_04]: and really helps

[00:37:17] [SPEAKER_04]: equip you to be

[00:37:19] [SPEAKER_04]: a disciple

[00:37:21] [SPEAKER_04]: of Christ who can share your

[00:37:23] [SPEAKER_04]: faith. A disciple who makes

[00:37:25] [SPEAKER_04]: disciples is what the training is designed to help

[00:37:28] [SPEAKER_04]: encourage you in

[00:37:29] [SPEAKER_04]: and give you skill sets and tactics to do that

[00:37:31] [SPEAKER_04]: it's focused on the

[00:37:33] [SPEAKER_04]: principles and patterns of Jesus

[00:37:35] [SPEAKER_04]: even about making disciples who make

[00:37:37] [SPEAKER_04]: disciples and it's

[00:37:39] [SPEAKER_04]: done in the context of sports so

[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_04]: those are some really good training assets

[00:37:42] [SPEAKER_04]: that are available for people

[00:37:44] [SPEAKER_04]: and they're certainly

[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_04]: free and available to any person

[00:37:49] [SPEAKER_04]: that would like to act as a disciple.

[00:37:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean you encourage you to go to the website

[00:37:52] [SPEAKER_01]: fca.org

[00:37:54] [SPEAKER_01]: under the banner which says resources

[00:37:56] [SPEAKER_01]: we've already sort of talked about that there is

[00:37:58] [SPEAKER_01]: a whole section for personal growth that could

[00:38:00] [SPEAKER_01]: be devotionals, could be Bible

[00:38:03] [SPEAKER_01]: studies, all

[00:38:04] [SPEAKER_01]: sorts of free and printed materials

[00:38:06] [SPEAKER_01]: there's actually training in what you might

[00:38:09] [SPEAKER_01]: want to do in terms of getting started

[00:38:10] [SPEAKER_01]: as he mentioned just a minute ago there's

[00:38:13] [SPEAKER_01]: a whole visual area there

[00:38:14] [SPEAKER_01]: so if there is nothing near you

[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_01]: you can still benefit

[00:38:18] [SPEAKER_01]: if you have access to a computer to learn some of that

[00:38:21] [SPEAKER_01]: there's some issues related to ministry

[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_01]: of course we've talked about

[00:38:25] [SPEAKER_01]: huddles, the camp and all the others

[00:38:27] [SPEAKER_01]: so there are all sorts of resources

[00:38:30] [SPEAKER_01]: in your first step of course

[00:38:31] [SPEAKER_01]: is to go to fca.org

[00:38:34] [SPEAKER_01]: you're going to find some great

[00:38:35] [SPEAKER_01]: material there

[00:38:36] [SPEAKER_01]: and if nothing else

[00:38:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Josh I appreciate you giving us some time

[00:38:40] [SPEAKER_01]: to talk about that but again

[00:38:42] [SPEAKER_01]: if somebody has some individual questions

[00:38:44] [SPEAKER_01]: is it possible for them

[00:38:46] [SPEAKER_01]: to contact you through the website?

[00:38:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Yes it should be

[00:38:51] [SPEAKER_04]: I would think that my information

[00:38:52] [SPEAKER_04]: is available on the website

[00:38:54] [SPEAKER_04]: if it's not you can call the 1-800

[00:38:56] [SPEAKER_04]: number and someone can certainly

[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_04]: get you information to reach out to me personally

[00:39:00] [SPEAKER_04]: I would say it could be so much

[00:39:02] [SPEAKER_04]: I just really appreciate you

[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_04]: having me on your program

[00:39:05] [SPEAKER_04]: and I thought of a practical

[00:39:08] [SPEAKER_04]: way that

[00:39:10] [SPEAKER_04]: God has used fca resources

[00:39:12] [SPEAKER_04]: in my life that I'd love to share

[00:39:13] [SPEAKER_04]: in our closing time but that's okay

[00:39:15] [SPEAKER_04]: the fca

[00:39:18] [SPEAKER_04]: Athletes Bible

[00:39:19] [SPEAKER_04]: is available

[00:39:20] [SPEAKER_04]: you can find it on our website fcagear.com

[00:39:23] [SPEAKER_04]: we're next to the Gideon

[00:39:26] [SPEAKER_04]: it's one of the largest bible distributors

[00:39:27] [SPEAKER_04]: in the world

[00:39:28] [SPEAKER_04]: but that Athletes Bible is designed

[00:39:31] [SPEAKER_04]: for people of sport

[00:39:34] [SPEAKER_04]: and so I think of my two children

[00:39:36] [SPEAKER_04]: that love sport particularly my son

[00:39:38] [SPEAKER_04]: my daughter she's an equestrian person

[00:39:40] [SPEAKER_04]: which we were growing into

[00:39:41] [SPEAKER_04]: all those different ministries

[00:39:43] [SPEAKER_04]: of more non-traditional sports

[00:39:45] [SPEAKER_04]: we're currently, you mentioned camps

[00:39:46] [SPEAKER_04]: we're doing leagues and clubs

[00:39:50] [SPEAKER_04]: leagues and partnerships

[00:39:51] [SPEAKER_04]: and local churches

[00:39:53] [SPEAKER_04]: but the bible

[00:39:54] [SPEAKER_04]: getting God's word into the heart of your kids

[00:39:57] [SPEAKER_04]: for all the parents out there

[00:39:58] [SPEAKER_04]: one of the things that God has really blessed

[00:40:01] [SPEAKER_04]: is that Athletes Bible

[00:40:02] [SPEAKER_04]: it has daily devotions

[00:40:04] [SPEAKER_04]: in the back for your young athlete

[00:40:07] [SPEAKER_04]: and my children

[00:40:09] [SPEAKER_04]: read those devotions and they

[00:40:11] [SPEAKER_04]: just really benefit

[00:40:13] [SPEAKER_04]: from them to grow from them spiritually

[00:40:14] [SPEAKER_04]: we talk about it on a daily basis

[00:40:16] [SPEAKER_04]: on what they're earning from those devotions

[00:40:19] [SPEAKER_04]: that drive them into God's word

[00:40:21] [SPEAKER_04]: to be sharpened and blessed

[00:40:23] [SPEAKER_04]: and so I just really encourage everybody

[00:40:25] [SPEAKER_04]: to, you know

[00:40:27] [SPEAKER_04]: if you've got a person of sport in your life

[00:40:28] [SPEAKER_04]: that loves an athlete

[00:40:30] [SPEAKER_04]: you're a parent or grandparent

[00:40:32] [SPEAKER_04]: getting them an FCA athlete's bible

[00:40:34] [SPEAKER_04]: this is a really great thing to do

[00:40:36] [SPEAKER_04]: and the bibles are not

[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_04]: we don't give all of those bibles

[00:40:40] [SPEAKER_04]: after either there is a cost to the bibles

[00:40:42] [SPEAKER_04]: but also if you want to explore them

[00:40:45] [SPEAKER_04]: on your version

[00:40:46] [SPEAKER_04]: we have plenty of bible reading plans

[00:40:48] [SPEAKER_04]: that are designed for athletes

[00:40:50] [SPEAKER_04]: we even have a bible read plan

[00:40:52] [SPEAKER_04]: that's designed for how to

[00:40:53] [SPEAKER_04]: biblically how do you parent your athlete

[00:40:55] [SPEAKER_04]: so parenting

[00:40:57] [SPEAKER_04]: and the athlete

[00:40:59] [SPEAKER_04]: from a biblical context

[00:41:01] [SPEAKER_04]: there's a bible reading plan for that

[00:41:03] [SPEAKER_04]: for all your parents out there

[00:41:04] [SPEAKER_01]: very good so again the FCA athlete's bible

[00:41:07] [SPEAKER_01]: and again we have FCA.org

[00:41:10] [SPEAKER_01]: so again you can find all the information

[00:41:12] [SPEAKER_01]: there and

[00:41:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Josh I appreciate you being with us today

[00:41:15] [SPEAKER_01]: here on point of view

[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_04]: certainly glad to do it

[00:41:18] [SPEAKER_04]: I appreciate all you do Keri thank you for

[00:41:20] [SPEAKER_04]: what you do

[00:41:21] [SPEAKER_04]: and for sharing

[00:41:23] [SPEAKER_04]: so many different

[00:41:25] [SPEAKER_04]: just exposing so many people to the wonderful

[00:41:27] [SPEAKER_04]: things that are happening at God's Kingdom

[00:41:29] [SPEAKER_01]: again FCA.org

[00:41:31] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's fellowship of Christian athletes

[00:41:33] [SPEAKER_01]: and you can find all the information that you need

[00:41:35] [SPEAKER_01]: right there again we've covered

[00:41:37] [SPEAKER_01]: quite a bit today everything from Daniel Runyon

[00:41:39] [SPEAKER_01]: to John DeVaney

[00:41:41] [SPEAKER_01]: as well as Josh Gilreith

[00:41:43] [SPEAKER_01]: and of course I might just mention tomorrow

[00:41:44] [SPEAKER_01]: we're going to have our millennial round table

[00:41:47] [SPEAKER_01]: so you're going to hear from Chelsea

[00:41:48] [SPEAKER_01]: and Patrina

[00:41:50] [SPEAKER_01]: and Richard and Joshua and Liberty

[00:41:52] [SPEAKER_01]: it's going to be quite a packed group

[00:41:54] [SPEAKER_01]: of individuals they're going to be talking about

[00:41:56] [SPEAKER_01]: some of the issues we've been addressing

[00:41:57] [SPEAKER_01]: and then we have our Friday weekend edition

[00:42:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Jeff Munteer and Dr. Merrill Matthews

[00:42:02] [SPEAKER_01]: so I think you will appreciate that as well

[00:42:03] [SPEAKER_01]: as you go to the website you're going to find these articles

[00:42:06] [SPEAKER_01]: that I've mentioned today

[00:42:08] [SPEAKER_01]: all about everything from

[00:42:10] [SPEAKER_01]: the article to the movie

[00:42:12] [SPEAKER_01]: to the fellowship of Christian athletes

[00:42:14] [SPEAKER_01]: to a couple of articles that I mentioned

[00:42:16] [SPEAKER_01]: related to everything from

[00:42:17] [SPEAKER_01]: what's happened in Israel to all sorts of other topics

[00:42:21] [SPEAKER_01]: and you can go to the website

[00:42:23] [SPEAKER_01]: and find those my viewpoints, commentaries there

[00:42:25] [SPEAKER_01]: our video, our election central

[00:42:27] [SPEAKER_01]: and of course as you support this ministry

[00:42:30] [SPEAKER_01]: you're supporting not only the

[00:42:31] [SPEAKER_01]: to our radio program but all the other material

[00:42:34] [SPEAKER_01]: we make available to you

[00:42:36] [SPEAKER_01]: so that we can educate you about these

[00:42:38] [SPEAKER_01]: important issues every single day

[00:42:40] [SPEAKER_01]: so again go to the website

[00:42:41] [SPEAKER_01]: pointofview.net

[00:42:43] [SPEAKER_01]: if you want to give us a call even though we go off the air

[00:42:45] [SPEAKER_01]: that number is 800-347-5151-800-347-5151

[00:42:52] [SPEAKER_01]: I want to thank Megan for her help

[00:42:53] [SPEAKER_01]: engineering the program, Steve

[00:42:55] [SPEAKER_01]: thank you for producing the program

[00:42:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Millennial Roundtable tomorrow

[00:42:58] [SPEAKER_01]: and on Friday our weekend edition

[00:43:01] [SPEAKER_01]: we'll see you back here tomorrow

[00:43:02] [SPEAKER_01]: right here on Point of View

[00:43:04] [SPEAKER_03]: it almost seems like we live in a different world

[00:43:13] [SPEAKER_03]: from many people in positions of authority

[00:43:15] [SPEAKER_03]: they say men can be women

[00:43:18] [SPEAKER_03]: and women men

[00:43:19] [SPEAKER_03]: people are prosecuted differently

[00:43:21] [SPEAKER_03]: or not at all depending on their politics

[00:43:24] [SPEAKER_03]: criminals are more valued

[00:43:26] [SPEAKER_03]: and rewarded than law-abiding citizens

[00:43:29] [SPEAKER_03]: it's so overwhelming

[00:43:30] [SPEAKER_03]: so demoralizing

[00:43:32] [SPEAKER_03]: you feel like giving up

[00:43:34] [SPEAKER_03]: but we can't

[00:43:35] [SPEAKER_03]: we shouldn't

[00:43:36] [SPEAKER_03]: we must not

[00:43:37] [SPEAKER_03]: as Winston Churchill said to Britain

[00:43:39] [SPEAKER_03]: in the darkest days of World War II

[00:43:42] [SPEAKER_03]: never give in

[00:43:43] [SPEAKER_03]: never give in

[00:43:44] [SPEAKER_03]: never never never

[00:43:46] [SPEAKER_03]: never yield to force

[00:43:48] [SPEAKER_03]: never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy

[00:43:52] [SPEAKER_03]: and that's what we say to you today

[00:43:55] [SPEAKER_03]: this is not a time to give in

[00:43:57] [SPEAKER_03]: but to step up

[00:43:58] [SPEAKER_03]: and join Point of View

[00:44:00] [SPEAKER_03]: in providing clarity in the chaos

[00:44:02] [SPEAKER_03]: we can't do it alone

[00:44:04] [SPEAKER_03]: but together

[00:44:05] [SPEAKER_03]: with God's help

[00:44:06] [SPEAKER_03]: we will overcome the darkness

[00:44:09] [SPEAKER_03]: invest in Biblical clarity today

[00:44:12] [SPEAKER_03]: at PointOfView.net

[00:44:13] [SPEAKER_03]: or call 1-800-347-5151

[00:44:18] [SPEAKER_03]: PointOfView.net

[00:44:20] [SPEAKER_03]: and 800-347-5151

[00:44:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Point of View is produced by Point of View Ministries
