[00:00:04] [SPEAKER_04]: Across America Live, this is Point of View.

[00:00:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Anna Dexter.

[00:00:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you very much for joining us ladies and gentlemen. I'm so excited for today's program. We're going to talk a little bit about the election.

[00:00:28] [SPEAKER_01]: We've been noticing that young men are moving toward Donald Trump for president, young women moving toward Kamala Harris.

[00:00:37] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll unpack that just a little bit and then we'll move on to my in-studio guest for the second hour.

[00:00:44] [SPEAKER_01]: She is Sheila Walsh and she's a Grammy nominated singer. She's also an author and we're going to talk with her about her book.

[00:00:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I am so excited to talk about it because it's entitled The Hope of Heaven, How the Promise of Eternity Changes Everything.

[00:01:02] [SPEAKER_01]: And I always think it's a good idea every few years, every once in a while to read a book about heaven as a believer, just to remind you about the hope of heaven.

[00:01:13] [SPEAKER_01]: And we're going to do that today with my in-studio guest, Sheila Walsh. That should be a lot of fun.

[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_01]: But for really all of this century, since the very early 2000s, we here at Point of View have warned and we have informed,

[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_01]: we have advocated against and we've lamented the attack on the institution of marriage.

[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_01]: And you can't really change the definition of marriage, even though people have tried to do so, because it's God's creation.

[00:01:40] [SPEAKER_01]: But in 2015, with the Obergefell v. Hodges Supreme Court decision, the court told every state that it needed to operate as if marriage encompasses same-sex couples.

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_01]: But we have to remember that marriage is still God's creation and he created it for a specific purpose.

[00:01:58] [SPEAKER_01]: It has many underlying purposes.

[00:02:00] [SPEAKER_01]: But my guest has written an essay, The Cosmic Significance of Marriage.

[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_01]: It's actually part of her book, Does the Bible Affirm Same-Sex Relationships?

[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_01]: And we've got it posted here at pointofview.net.

[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_01]: She is Rebecca McLaughlin and she holds a Ph.D. in Renaissance Literature from Cambridge University, also a theology degree from Oak Hill College in London.

[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_01]: She's written several books, one of them, Confronting Christianity, 12 Hard Questions for the World's Largest Religion, which was named Book of the Year by Christianity today.

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_01]: All of her books sound very interesting, but today we're going to discuss this essay.

[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_01]: And Rebecca, thank you so much for joining me.

[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for having me.

[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's good to have you.

[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_01]: And we have a lovely accent to converse with today on something that is very important to me, Rebecca, and that's the institution of marriage.

[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if people are going to really expect the way we're going to deal with it, but your title gives us a hint.

[00:03:02] [SPEAKER_01]: It's got cosmic significance, doesn't it?

[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I think funnily enough, a lot of people, even those who like me and like you would identify as Christians and have a very high view of marriage as a lifelong bond between one man and one woman.

[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_00]: I think we actually miss the central point of what marriage is about according to the Bible.

[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_00]: So if we look at what the Bible says from the beginning to the end, what we'll find is that marriage is actually about much more than me and my husband or two human beings kind of entering into a covenant with one another.

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_00]: It's actually from the Old Testament to the New designed to be a picture of God's extraordinary love for us.

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_00]: So we see it first in the Old Testament as God is repeatedly compared to a loving, faithful husband and Israel, God's people, as to an unfaithful wife.

[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_00]: They keep sort of cheating on God with these other so-called gods of the ancient world, the idols of their time.

[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_00]: And when the end of the Old Testament comes, we're sort of left with this sense that this cosmic marriage between God and his people is really in crisis because God's people just can't seem to be faithful to him, however loving and faithful God is to them.

[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_00]: And then Jesus comes. And one of the extraordinary and strange things that Jesus said about himself was that he is the bridegroom.

[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_00]: It's a very odd statement to make if you think about it for somebody who never married in his life on earth.

[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_00]: But it's one of the ways in which Jesus is stepping into the shoes of the creator God of the Old Testament.

[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_00]: He's saying, I'm the groom. I've come to claim God's people for myself.

[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_01]: That was an interesting part, Rebecca, when you go into, for instance, in Mark, when he was asked by critics,

[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Jesus was asked why his disciples do not fast. And he answers, can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them?

[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_01]: And then, you know, you point out in your in your article, well, a lot of people are like, how is Jesus the bridegroom?

[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's sort of the key to all this, isn't it?

[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. Yeah. And we see that introduced by Jesus, as you mentioned in the Gospels.

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_00]: And then in Paul's letter to the Ephesians in chapter five, he has this sort of beautiful description of what marriage is.

[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_00]: And Paul says that it's actually all about Jesus and his people.

[00:05:28] [SPEAKER_00]: So he quotes the famous and sort of curious verse from the Old Testament from Genesis two,

[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_00]: where we read about the first marriage and it says, therefore, a man will leave his father and his mother and be united to his wife.

[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_00]: And they should become one flesh. And Paul says, this is a profound mystery.

[00:05:44] [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm saying it refers to Christ in the church.

[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_00]: So that if the Bible is true, then from the very beginning, even from when God made human beings male and female,

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_00]: when he gave us the kind of capacity for sex and marriage and reproduction,

[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_00]: that actually it was always about pointing us to Jesus's relationship with his people.

[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_00]: And I think this just really reframes how we think about marriage from a Christian perspective,

[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_00]: not in a way that undermines male-female marriage, but actually in a way that makes it understand that it is a signpost of something even greater than itself.

[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we as Christians often look at marriage as a goal.

[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_01]: We almost make an idol of it.

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, I sometimes see young people today because the marriage rates are they're getting married older and older.

[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_01]: It even Christian kids, some not getting married.

[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_01]: And so we're seeing all that.

[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_01]: And we look at marriage as a good that promotes the flourishing of human beings and society and families and the creation of the next generation,

[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_01]: all of that.

[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_01]: But and that's a good of marriage.

[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_01]: But it's not I think what you point out.

[00:06:53] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's so good to remember.

[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's partly why we believers really were against and very bothered by the idea of changing the definition of marriage,

[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_01]: because it's really the marriage presents the gospel to us.

[00:07:09] [SPEAKER_01]: It is the gospel, isn't it?

[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it points us to the gospel, because in the message of Jesus,

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_00]: we see that anyone who puts their trust in Jesus and his death in their place is actually united to him by faith in a way that the Bible describes as being like a head and a body or being like a husband and a wife.

[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Like it's one of the pictures that we have of the intimacy that we have with Jesus if we are one of his followers.

[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_00]: And one of the distinctives about Jesus's relationship with his people is that it's a love across difference.

[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_00]: So that's why marriage is male, female.

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_00]: It's actually a kind of love.

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_00]: It's a love across the difference, the deepest biological difference there is between human beings.

[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_00]: And it's a love that is flesh uniting, life creating, never ending, exclusive, like all the things that marriage is designed to be point us to the faithful, passionate, exclusive, flesh uniting love that Jesus has for his people.

[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_00]: And that makes marriage a beautiful thing.

[00:08:11] [SPEAKER_00]: But as you say, it means we mustn't turn marriage into an idol.

[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_00]: And we need to recognize that the same New Testament scriptures and authors, so Paul, for example, who says that marriage is so amazing, it points us to Jesus's love for his people.

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_00]: He says actually living as a single Christian, like Paul himself, he says it's even better.

[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Because actually we can point to the sufficiency of Jesus's love as a single person, just as we can point to the gospel through marriage.

[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Ladies and gentlemen, to be continued in the next segment, my guest is Rebecca McLaughlin, and we're talking about marriage.

[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll be right back.

[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_05]: This is Viewpoints with Kirby Anderson.

[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_03]: As we look through the corridors of history, we see the rise and fall of nations.

[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_03]: The symptoms of societal decline are well known.

[00:09:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Governments spend too much and debase their currency.

[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Leaders get decadent and patriotism declines.

[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Families fracture and eventually the society falls apart.

[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_03]: A nation in decline fails to protect its citizens.

[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_03]: One of the important functions of a society is to protect the weak from those who intend them harm.

[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Not only is crime in the streets, but it becomes difficult and eventually impossible to travel anywhere.

[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_03]: In the ancient world, that surfaced in the form of highway robbery.

[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_03]: In a recent commentary, Tucker Carlson explained that the modern version of this is carjacking.

[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_03]: He says carjacking is the clearest possible sign that your civilization is falling apart,

[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_03]: and that is why you find it in places like Somalia and South Africa,

[00:09:48] [SPEAKER_03]: places where force, violence, and clan loyalty have replaced law and order,

[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_03]: places where might makes right.

[00:09:54] [SPEAKER_03]: In the city of Johannesburg, for example, a vehicle is hijacked on average once every hour of the day.

[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Now once that happens, there's really no coming back from it.

[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Nobody's going to build anything in the city with endemic carjacking.

[00:10:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Tucker Carlson then brought the story closer to home.

[00:10:09] [SPEAKER_03]: He explained that carjacking has become a permanent feature of life in New Orleans.

[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_03]: That's not surprising since the city probably needs 2,000 police and has under 500 active duty police.

[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_03]: The crime problem in this city can be found in many other cities in the nation.

[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Two years of defund the police have had their toll on the officers, on the police force,

[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_03]: and have kept possible recruits from joining the police force in their city.

[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_03]: There are many signs of societal decline.

[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_03]: We should add increased crime and carjacking to the growing list of problems in America.

[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm Kirby Anderson, and that's my point of view.

[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_05]: For a free booklet on biblical reliability, go to viewpoints.info slash biblical reliability.

[00:10:53] [SPEAKER_05]: Viewpoints.info slash biblical reliability.

[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_04]: You're listening to Point of View, your listener-supported source for truth.

[00:11:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back to Point of View.

[00:11:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm Penna Dexter.

[00:11:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Rebecca McLaughlin is my guest.

[00:11:09] [SPEAKER_01]: And we are talking about what we have posted at pointofview.net, which is, I believe, a chapter of her book.

[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's just such a nice, concise sort of definition of marriage.

[00:11:22] [SPEAKER_01]: And, of course, Rebecca, a lot of people do try to redefine marriage or wonder if it should be redefined.

[00:11:29] [SPEAKER_01]: We even have Christians saying post-Obergefell, almost 10 years now.

[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Should we be rethinking marriage?

[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Should it be exclusive to male and female?

[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_01]: All of those things are sort of swirling around right now in Christianity, and we need to settle these, don't we?

[00:11:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, that's why I actually set out to write this short book, because I think a lot of people at the moment are confused.

[00:11:54] [SPEAKER_00]: And sort of wondering, you know, does the Bible really say that marriage must be male-female and couldn't be between two people of the same sex who really love each other?

[00:12:03] [SPEAKER_00]: And this is a question that I come to from a very sort of personal perspective, because as long as I can remember having sort of romantic feelings, they were always directed towards other women.

[00:12:12] [SPEAKER_00]: So if I could have read the Bible in a way that would have made space for same-sex marriage, I'm pretty sure I would have done.

[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I didn't open the Bible hoping that it would say no to same-sex marriage for believers.

[00:12:25] [SPEAKER_00]: But the more that I've studied the Scriptures, the more sure I've become that it actually does say a very clear no to any sort of sexual or romantic relationship between people of the same sex.

[00:12:36] [SPEAKER_00]: But also, the more I've understood, as we were talking earlier, the meaning of marriage actually being more about Jesus than it's about us.

[00:12:44] [SPEAKER_00]: And rather than Christianity offering a kind of no vision for love between believers of the same sex,

[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_00]: that actually I think that the New Testament calls us repeatedly, time and again, to a deep and sacrificial love between believers of the same sex.

[00:12:59] [SPEAKER_00]: It's actually, in the night that Jesus was betrayed to his death, he said to his disciples,

[00:13:04] [SPEAKER_00]: this is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Greater love has known than this that he laid down his life for his friends.

[00:13:12] [SPEAKER_00]: And I think one of the things that as Christians we must do today is actually rediscover what the Bible offers us in friendship.

[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_00]: I think our world collapses all kinds of love down into one sort of category of romantic or sexual love.

[00:13:29] [SPEAKER_00]: And actually, the New Testament calls us to a much more of a kind of expansive view of love within the Christian family,

[00:13:37] [SPEAKER_00]: a brotherly and sisterly love being actually the biggest, the sort of overarching category of love that as followers of Jesus we need to live into,

[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_00]: whether we're single or whether we're married.

[00:13:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Rebecca, so given what you've told us about your own background and the fact that you have such a wonderful message for people,

[00:13:57] [SPEAKER_01]: it takes us into loving each other beyond any kind of romantic love and even human love to the way God loves us.

[00:14:07] [SPEAKER_01]: We can never surpass that.

[00:14:09] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's wonderful to be able to see that the idol that we've made of marriage is actually completely unnecessary for marriage to thrive.

[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_01]: In fact, it's better if we don't make it an idol.

[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I think all of the beautiful things that the Bible says to us about marriage actually come into sharper and better focus

[00:14:31] [SPEAKER_00]: when we understand marriage as being one relationship among the various different kinds of relationships that Christians might be called to

[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_00]: and that we actually start living as if what the New Testament says about church as family is true.

[00:14:47] [SPEAKER_00]: We often spend our time sort of very focused on defending the nuclear family

[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_00]: and obviously the nuclear family is very sort of precious and important.

[00:14:55] [SPEAKER_00]: But actually, if you read the New Testament, you'll find that the emphasis is on the church family

[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_00]: and the nuclear family sort of finds its home within that.

[00:15:03] [SPEAKER_00]: So as I raise my children, for instance, one of the best things I can do for them is actually have them live as we do,

[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_00]: as sort of very much in the context of our local church family

[00:15:14] [SPEAKER_00]: and have them have strong and meaningful relationships with believers aside from me and my husband

[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_00]: so that they can kind of grow up being part of this larger unit, this body of Christ that meets here in our little corner of the world.

[00:15:29] [SPEAKER_00]: And to get to experience some of that brotherly, sisterly love that is the birthright of every believer.

[00:15:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, what a wonderful message.

[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, I do want to talk a bit about, well, you already have,

[00:15:43] [SPEAKER_01]: but the male-female difference in marriage.

[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_01]: You say it's not incidental to the model.

[00:15:49] [SPEAKER_01]: It's an essential feature.

[00:15:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And so I think this is where, you know, some believers during all the battle about making gay marriage nationwide,

[00:16:00] [SPEAKER_01]: telling every state that they needed to recognize it,

[00:16:05] [SPEAKER_01]: that deep down a lot of believers had this kind of uncomfortable idea with that

[00:16:11] [SPEAKER_01]: because they knew that it was emblematic of the union between Christ and the church.

[00:16:17] [SPEAKER_01]: And there was much about marriage that went well beyond that.

[00:16:21] [SPEAKER_01]: But still, why is it so important to keep the male-female difference in marriage?

[00:16:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Can you explain that?

[00:16:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think firstly because that's what the New Testament offers to us.

[00:16:32] [SPEAKER_00]: And at the end of the day, we need to trust God's word,

[00:16:35] [SPEAKER_00]: even when it comes into conflict with the culture around us.

[00:16:39] [SPEAKER_00]: But actually, as I was mentioning earlier,

[00:16:42] [SPEAKER_00]: there is a particular way in which the intrinsic difference between male and female

[00:16:47] [SPEAKER_00]: sort of models the love across intrinsic difference that we find in Jesus' relationship with his people.

[00:16:52] [SPEAKER_00]: This is not just like a relationship of two interchangeable parties.

[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_00]: There's a fundamental difference between Jesus and us.

[00:17:00] [SPEAKER_00]: At the same time, there is a deep sort of solidarity and union and sameness.

[00:17:05] [SPEAKER_00]: And when you look back even to the second chapter of the Bible

[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_00]: and you see the first two humans being described,

[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_00]: we find on the one hand a deep difference between them as male and female.

[00:17:17] [SPEAKER_00]: And at the same time, there's this great similarity.

[00:17:20] [SPEAKER_00]: As Adam puts it, this is now bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh.

[00:17:24] [SPEAKER_00]: So that we are both sort of like Jesus in his humanity and unlike Jesus in his divinity.

[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_00]: And we get to glimpse that in the deepest human difference that there is,

[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_00]: which is a sort of biological difference of male and female.

[00:17:39] [SPEAKER_00]: And it's the love across that difference that is the way that God has designed

[00:17:44] [SPEAKER_00]: the possibility of new life arising,

[00:17:48] [SPEAKER_00]: which is also something that sort of profoundly speaks to that original diversity of male and female

[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_00]: being sort of built into the picture of Jesus' love for his people.

[00:18:00] [SPEAKER_01]: This essay is just one chapter in a book entitled

[00:18:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Does the Bible Affirm Same-Sex Relationships?

[00:18:11] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's by Rebecca McLaughlin.

[00:18:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And Rebecca, can you just give us a quick synopsis?

[00:18:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Because actually reading the essay, I think,

[00:18:21] [SPEAKER_01]: makes you want to kind of go further and read the rest of the book.

[00:18:25] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not a long one, is it?

[00:18:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, it's intentionally quite a short book

[00:18:29] [SPEAKER_00]: because I think that often we need to sort of get our hands around these issues

[00:18:33] [SPEAKER_00]: sort of relatively briefly.

[00:18:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the book looks at the 10 most common arguments

[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_00]: that people make in favor of same-sex marriage for Christians.

[00:18:41] [SPEAKER_00]: And it explains why each of them doesn't actually hold up

[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_00]: if you look at the scriptures.

[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_00]: But it does so with also the context of story.

[00:18:52] [SPEAKER_00]: So you'll find a lot of my friends in this book

[00:18:55] [SPEAKER_00]: and their stories of many friends who've come to Christ

[00:18:58] [SPEAKER_00]: having previously been in same-sex sexual relationships,

[00:19:02] [SPEAKER_00]: other friends who maybe grew up in the church,

[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_00]: and then walked away for a period of time

[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_00]: to pursue a same-sex sexual relationship

[00:19:09] [SPEAKER_00]: and then have come back.

[00:19:11] [SPEAKER_00]: And other friends who, like me, have always been followers of Jesus

[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_00]: and have lived with the temptation towards same-sex sexual relationships

[00:19:18] [SPEAKER_00]: but have said no to that temptation

[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_00]: because of our deep belief in Jesus.

[00:19:23] [SPEAKER_00]: So my hope was to write a book that was faithful to what the Bible says

[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_00]: and also gave people a handle on some of the personal stories

[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_00]: because I think there's often this idea that you couldn't possibly,

[00:19:35] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, if you're somebody, for example,

[00:19:36] [SPEAKER_00]: who is only ever attracted to people of their same sex,

[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_00]: you couldn't possibly flourish as a Christian

[00:19:42] [SPEAKER_00]: saying no to those desires.

[00:19:43] [SPEAKER_00]: But actually, by the power of God's Spirit,

[00:19:46] [SPEAKER_00]: you absolutely can.

[00:19:48] [SPEAKER_00]: None of us,

[00:19:49] [SPEAKER_00]: we can all live without our sexual sort of desires being fulfilled.

[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_00]: We can all live without romance.

[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_00]: We can all live without marriage.

[00:19:57] [SPEAKER_00]: The one relationship we can't live without

[00:19:59] [SPEAKER_00]: is our relationship with Jesus.

[00:20:01] [SPEAKER_00]: And everything points to that.

[00:20:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I think that we ought to have you back

[00:20:06] [SPEAKER_01]: to talk about some of the other chapters in this book.

[00:20:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for joining me today

[00:20:10] [SPEAKER_01]: with this wonderful, enlightening, and very important message.

[00:20:13] [SPEAKER_01]: God bless you.

[00:20:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.

[00:20:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Ladies and gentlemen,

[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_01]: you can find The Cosmic Significance of Marriage

[00:20:21] [SPEAKER_01]: at pointofyou.net and check that out.

[00:20:24] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a wonderful read

[00:20:25] [SPEAKER_01]: and I think it will be enlightening for you.

[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_01]: A little bit later in the program,

[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_01]: as I mentioned,

[00:20:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Sheila Walsh will be joining me

[00:20:32] [SPEAKER_01]: and we're going to be talking about heaven.

[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_01]: And we will take your calls then

[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_01]: in that second hour.

[00:20:37] [SPEAKER_01]: In fact, I'll start taking your calls

[00:20:39] [SPEAKER_01]: in the next 30 minutes

[00:20:40] [SPEAKER_01]: as we talk a little bit about the election.

[00:20:43] [SPEAKER_01]: But I love asking people who have studied heaven

[00:20:47] [SPEAKER_01]: and how the Bible presents it

[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_01]: some of the questions of what it's going to be like.

[00:20:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Certain things, of course, are mysteries.

[00:20:52] [SPEAKER_01]: But others we know from Scripture

[00:20:54] [SPEAKER_01]: and there's a surprising amount of Scripture

[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_01]: that gives us an idea about heaven.

[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_01]: So we will do that a little bit later in the program.

[00:21:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Next up, well, first of all,

[00:21:05] [SPEAKER_01]: did you watch the interview

[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_01]: with Brett Baer and Kamala Harris last night?

[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to say much about it,

[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_01]: but if you want to, you can.

[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_01]: 800-351-1212.

[00:21:17] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll talk a little bit about a couple of aspects

[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_01]: of the presidential race,

[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_01]: which, you know, in many states has already started.

[00:21:25] [SPEAKER_01]: So we've got to keep our eyes focused a little bit on that,

[00:21:29] [SPEAKER_01]: but we've got a lot more beyond.

[00:21:31] [SPEAKER_05]: At point of view, we believe there is power in prayer.

[00:21:35] [SPEAKER_05]: And that is why we have relaunched

[00:21:37] [SPEAKER_05]: our Pray for America campaign,

[00:21:40] [SPEAKER_05]: a series of weekly emails

[00:21:42] [SPEAKER_05]: to unite Americans in prayer for our nation.

[00:21:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Imagine if hundreds of thousands of Americans

[00:21:49] [SPEAKER_05]: started praying intentionally together

[00:21:52] [SPEAKER_05]: on a weekly basis.

[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_05]: You can help make that a reality

[00:21:57] [SPEAKER_05]: by subscribing to our Pray for America emails.

[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_05]: Just go to pointofview.net

[00:22:04] [SPEAKER_05]: and click on the Pray for America banner

[00:22:07] [SPEAKER_05]: that's right there on the homepage.

[00:22:09] [SPEAKER_05]: Each week you'll receive a brief news update,

[00:22:12] [SPEAKER_05]: a specific prayer guide,

[00:22:14] [SPEAKER_05]: and a free resource to equip you in further action.

[00:22:19] [SPEAKER_05]: We encourage you to not only pray with us each week,

[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_05]: but to share these prayers

[00:22:24] [SPEAKER_05]: and the resources with others in your life.

[00:22:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Join the movement today.

[00:22:29] [SPEAKER_05]: Visit pointofview.net

[00:22:32] [SPEAKER_05]: and click on the banner Pray for America

[00:22:35] [SPEAKER_05]: right there at the top.

[00:22:37] [SPEAKER_05]: That's pointofview.net

[00:22:40] [SPEAKER_05]: Let's pray together

[00:22:42] [SPEAKER_05]: for God to make a difference in our land.

[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_05]: Point of View will continue after this.

[00:22:57] [SPEAKER_05]: You are listening to Point of View.

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_05]: The opinions expressed on Point of View

[00:23:04] [SPEAKER_05]: do not necessarily reflect the views

[00:23:06] [SPEAKER_05]: of the management or staff of this station.

[00:23:09] [SPEAKER_05]: And now, here again, is Pena Dexter.

[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_05]: Pena Dexter.

[00:23:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Focusing a little bit on the election

[00:23:16] [SPEAKER_01]: and really coming up in a little over two weeks,

[00:23:24] [SPEAKER_01]: some states are already voting.

[00:23:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I think in North Carolina,

[00:23:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I did hear today that polls are open now

[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_01]: and they're making lots of arrangements

[00:23:32] [SPEAKER_01]: for people to vote.

[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_01]: So that's a good thing.

[00:23:35] [SPEAKER_01]: If you live there,

[00:23:37] [SPEAKER_01]: you can find a way to vote.

[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_01]: But I'm opening the phones,

[00:23:41] [SPEAKER_01]: 800-351-1212,

[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_01]: for you to weigh in,

[00:23:45] [SPEAKER_01]: especially if you watched the interview

[00:23:49] [SPEAKER_01]: between Kamala Harris and Fox News'

[00:23:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Brett Baer last night,

[00:23:53] [SPEAKER_01]: or if you've watched any of the clips of it.

[00:23:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I have to give it to her for doing the interview.

[00:23:59] [SPEAKER_01]: She knew it was going to be a hostile interview.

[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And, you know,

[00:24:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it was in one sense.

[00:24:04] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's a pro,

[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_01]: but he asked questions that were tough

[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_01]: and he didn't really let up.

[00:24:13] [SPEAKER_01]: And he wanted her to give her a chance

[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_01]: to differentiate herself from her predecessor

[00:24:18] [SPEAKER_01]: and her regime as his vice president,

[00:24:24] [SPEAKER_01]: especially on the issue of illegal immigration.

[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_01]: All the people let into the country,

[00:24:28] [SPEAKER_01]: some of the criminals and things like that.

[00:24:31] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's a big issue.

[00:24:32] [SPEAKER_01]: It's probably the number one issue

[00:24:33] [SPEAKER_01]: along with the economy in the election.

[00:24:36] [SPEAKER_01]: She did this,

[00:24:38] [SPEAKER_01]: but she managed not to give really

[00:24:41] [SPEAKER_01]: any new information about it.

[00:24:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Her campaign has made this calculation

[00:24:45] [SPEAKER_01]: to do this interview and some others

[00:24:48] [SPEAKER_01]: in order to reveal herself

[00:24:51] [SPEAKER_01]: to independent voters

[00:24:53] [SPEAKER_01]: that haven't made a decision yet,

[00:24:55] [SPEAKER_01]: undecided voters.

[00:24:56] [SPEAKER_01]: It was very unrevealing, though,

[00:24:58] [SPEAKER_01]: with regard to her position.

[00:25:00] [SPEAKER_01]: It didn't give them any new information.

[00:25:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't think.

[00:25:03] [SPEAKER_01]: If you think differently,

[00:25:04] [SPEAKER_01]: give me a call, 800-351-1212.

[00:25:07] [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about men and women,

[00:25:10] [SPEAKER_01]: the differences in their support.

[00:25:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Men support Trump in greater numbers.

[00:25:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Women support Harris in greater numbers.

[00:25:22] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll talk a little bit about

[00:25:23] [SPEAKER_01]: why that is the case.

[00:25:25] [SPEAKER_01]: But I'm going to just kind of focus in

[00:25:29] [SPEAKER_01]: on black men

[00:25:29] [SPEAKER_01]: because Barack Obama did that this week.

[00:25:33] [SPEAKER_01]: He apparently black men are supporting Trump

[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_01]: in much higher numbers.

[00:25:37] [SPEAKER_01]: It's moving.

[00:25:38] [SPEAKER_01]: It's moving in the direction

[00:25:41] [SPEAKER_01]: that black men are supporting Republicans

[00:25:47] [SPEAKER_01]: as a whole

[00:25:48] [SPEAKER_01]: and also Donald Trump

[00:25:50] [SPEAKER_01]: to a greater degree

[00:25:52] [SPEAKER_01]: than they have in past elections.

[00:25:54] [SPEAKER_01]: And that was something

[00:25:56] [SPEAKER_01]: that Barack Obama,

[00:25:58] [SPEAKER_01]: former president,

[00:25:59] [SPEAKER_01]: addressed in a speech last week.

[00:26:02] [SPEAKER_01]: And he was apparently

[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_01]: kind of chastising black men for that.

[00:26:07] [SPEAKER_01]: But there have been some

[00:26:10] [SPEAKER_01]: campaign decisions,

[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess,

[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_01]: that have been made

[00:26:13] [SPEAKER_01]: in order to try to attract black men.

[00:26:16] [SPEAKER_01]: One,

[00:26:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Vice President Harris

[00:26:19] [SPEAKER_01]: has been talking about

[00:26:21] [SPEAKER_01]: an opportunity agenda

[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_01]: for black men.

[00:26:23] [SPEAKER_01]: There's sort of a grab bag

[00:26:25] [SPEAKER_01]: of policies she's promising.

[00:26:27] [SPEAKER_01]: One of them is $20,000

[00:26:29] [SPEAKER_01]: in forgivable government loans

[00:26:32] [SPEAKER_01]: for a million minority people

[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_01]: to start businesses.

[00:26:36] [SPEAKER_01]: These would be more like grants.

[00:26:39] [SPEAKER_01]: You could get it forgiven

[00:26:40] [SPEAKER_01]: by fulfilling certain things.

[00:26:43] [SPEAKER_01]: But it would be allocating

[00:26:44] [SPEAKER_01]: government loan forgiveness

[00:26:46] [SPEAKER_01]: on the basis of race,

[00:26:48] [SPEAKER_01]: which many people have been saying

[00:26:50] [SPEAKER_01]: in the aftermath

[00:26:50] [SPEAKER_01]: of that proposal

[00:26:51] [SPEAKER_01]: that is unconstitutional.

[00:26:54] [SPEAKER_01]: And then,

[00:26:55] [SPEAKER_01]: this one's amazing,

[00:26:57] [SPEAKER_01]: legalizing marijuana

[00:26:58] [SPEAKER_01]: and also helping minorities

[00:27:01] [SPEAKER_01]: with drug convictions

[00:27:02] [SPEAKER_01]: benefit from marijuana-based businesses.

[00:27:07] [SPEAKER_01]: And, you know,

[00:27:09] [SPEAKER_01]: is this a wise idea?

[00:27:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Harris said,

[00:27:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Vice President Harris

[00:27:14] [SPEAKER_01]: said she wants to do this

[00:27:16] [SPEAKER_01]: because, quote,

[00:27:17] [SPEAKER_01]: it gives a lot of people joy.

[00:27:20] [SPEAKER_01]: So she wants to give this

[00:27:21] [SPEAKER_01]: to black men.

[00:27:24] [SPEAKER_01]: She thinks legalizing marijuana,

[00:27:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess,

[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_01]: would especially appeal

[00:27:28] [SPEAKER_01]: to black men.

[00:27:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay,

[00:27:30] [SPEAKER_01]: we're going to talk

[00:27:30] [SPEAKER_01]: a little bit more

[00:27:31] [SPEAKER_01]: about the wisdom of that

[00:27:32] [SPEAKER_01]: in a moment.

[00:27:33] [SPEAKER_01]: I posted an article

[00:27:34] [SPEAKER_01]: by Ann Coulter.

[00:27:37] [SPEAKER_01]: And Ann Coulter says,

[00:27:39] [SPEAKER_01]: it's not your father's pot anymore.

[00:27:41] [SPEAKER_01]: And it isn't.

[00:27:42] [SPEAKER_01]: She also is promising

[00:27:44] [SPEAKER_01]: apprenticeships for black men

[00:27:45] [SPEAKER_01]: to acquire skills

[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_01]: in trade professions.

[00:27:48] [SPEAKER_01]: We've seen government

[00:27:50] [SPEAKER_01]: training programs

[00:27:51] [SPEAKER_01]: in the past.

[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Often,

[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_01]: they don't have

[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_01]: the best outcomes.

[00:27:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Although,

[00:27:56] [SPEAKER_01]: if these are private

[00:27:56] [SPEAKER_01]: apprenticeships,

[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_01]: it's a great idea.

[00:27:59] [SPEAKER_01]: More government investment

[00:28:01] [SPEAKER_01]: in black male teachers

[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_01]: is something else

[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_01]: she's promising.

[00:28:04] [SPEAKER_01]: And the premise

[00:28:05] [SPEAKER_01]: for that

[00:28:06] [SPEAKER_01]: is that black kids

[00:28:07] [SPEAKER_01]: will learn better

[00:28:08] [SPEAKER_01]: from black teachers.

[00:28:10] [SPEAKER_01]: And so,

[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_01]: you know,

[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know

[00:28:12] [SPEAKER_01]: if that's true

[00:28:13] [SPEAKER_01]: or not.

[00:28:14] [SPEAKER_01]: But let's go to,

[00:28:16] [SPEAKER_01]: let's go for a minute

[00:28:17] [SPEAKER_01]: to Ann Coulter's piece.

[00:28:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I posted it

[00:28:21] [SPEAKER_01]: at pointofview.net.

[00:28:22] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not your father's pot anymore.

[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_01]: And she talks about

[00:28:28] [SPEAKER_01]: legalizing marijuana.

[00:28:29] [SPEAKER_01]: This is a quote from her.

[00:28:31] [SPEAKER_01]: She says,

[00:28:31] [SPEAKER_01]: legalizing marijuana

[00:28:32] [SPEAKER_01]: is the last step,

[00:28:34] [SPEAKER_01]: the silver bullet

[00:28:35] [SPEAKER_01]: to the heart

[00:28:36] [SPEAKER_01]: of what's left

[00:28:37] [SPEAKER_01]: of our country.

[00:28:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Tantalize the public

[00:28:39] [SPEAKER_01]: with a drug

[00:28:40] [SPEAKER_01]: that will turn them

[00:28:41] [SPEAKER_01]: into low IQ losers,

[00:28:43] [SPEAKER_01]: crashing cars,

[00:28:44] [SPEAKER_01]: committing suicide

[00:28:45] [SPEAKER_01]: and rushing

[00:28:45] [SPEAKER_01]: to emergency rooms

[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_01]: with their cannabis induced,

[00:28:49] [SPEAKER_01]: well,

[00:28:50] [SPEAKER_01]: she's coined

[00:28:51] [SPEAKER_01]: a term called

[00:28:52] [SPEAKER_01]: scrommeting,

[00:28:53] [SPEAKER_01]: which is screaming

[00:28:54] [SPEAKER_01]: and vomiting

[00:28:55] [SPEAKER_01]: at the same time.

[00:28:56] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not very,

[00:28:57] [SPEAKER_01]: it's not a very pretty picture.

[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_01]: But she says

[00:29:01] [SPEAKER_01]: that the pot legalizers

[00:29:03] [SPEAKER_01]: are spending

[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_01]: hundreds of millions

[00:29:05] [SPEAKER_01]: of dollars

[00:29:06] [SPEAKER_01]: on pot initiatives.

[00:29:07] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not just trying

[00:29:08] [SPEAKER_01]: to do something federally.

[00:29:11] [SPEAKER_01]: This year in Arkansas,

[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Florida,

[00:29:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Nebraska,

[00:29:14] [SPEAKER_01]: North Dakota,

[00:29:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Oregon,

[00:29:15] [SPEAKER_01]: and South Dakota,

[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_01]: they're trying

[00:29:17] [SPEAKER_01]: to legalize pot.

[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Their initiatives

[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_01]: being voted on

[00:29:20] [SPEAKER_01]: in the November elections.

[00:29:22] [SPEAKER_01]: And we've already

[00:29:23] [SPEAKER_01]: seen this happen

[00:29:24] [SPEAKER_01]: in other states.

[00:29:26] [SPEAKER_01]: And Ann Coulter

[00:29:29] [SPEAKER_01]: goes on to talk

[00:29:30] [SPEAKER_01]: about some of the effects

[00:29:31] [SPEAKER_01]: of those state initiatives.

[00:29:33] [SPEAKER_01]: It just,

[00:29:36] [SPEAKER_01]: it doesn't,

[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know,

[00:29:38] [SPEAKER_01]: it doesn't seem

[00:29:38] [SPEAKER_01]: like a smart idea

[00:29:39] [SPEAKER_01]: to make our country better.

[00:29:41] [SPEAKER_01]: But it's been

[00:29:42] [SPEAKER_01]: a George Soros

[00:29:43] [SPEAKER_01]: funded idea.

[00:29:44] [SPEAKER_01]: And he is behind

[00:29:46] [SPEAKER_01]: many of the initiatives

[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_01]: in other states.

[00:29:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Today's marijuana,

[00:29:51] [SPEAKER_01]: says Ann Coulter,

[00:29:52] [SPEAKER_01]: is nothing like

[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_01]: what it was

[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_01]: 20 years ago.

[00:29:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Although polls

[00:29:55] [SPEAKER_01]: seem to show

[00:29:56] [SPEAKER_01]: that younger voters

[00:29:56] [SPEAKER_01]: are the most

[00:29:57] [SPEAKER_01]: in favor

[00:29:58] [SPEAKER_01]: of pot legalization,

[00:30:00] [SPEAKER_01]: my experience,

[00:30:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Ann Coulter's experience,

[00:30:02] [SPEAKER_01]: is the opposite.

[00:30:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Older voters

[00:30:04] [SPEAKER_01]: who have absolutely

[00:30:05] [SPEAKER_01]: no idea

[00:30:06] [SPEAKER_01]: what's in today's pot

[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_01]: are the most susceptible

[00:30:08] [SPEAKER_01]: to legalization pitches.

[00:30:11] [SPEAKER_01]: She says

[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_01]: the olders,

[00:30:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Ulsters,

[00:30:14] [SPEAKER_01]: think marijuana

[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_01]: is still about

[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_01]: 2 to 3 percent

[00:30:17] [SPEAKER_01]: THC.

[00:30:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And she says

[00:30:20] [SPEAKER_01]: maybe that was true

[00:30:21] [SPEAKER_01]: when they were

[00:30:21] [SPEAKER_01]: listening to

[00:30:22] [SPEAKER_01]: the Beatles'

[00:30:23] [SPEAKER_01]: White Album

[00:30:23] [SPEAKER_01]: in their dorm rooms.

[00:30:24] [SPEAKER_01]: But right now,

[00:30:26] [SPEAKER_01]: pot averages

[00:30:27] [SPEAKER_01]: about 15 to 25 percent

[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_01]: THC.

[00:30:29] [SPEAKER_01]: And it can be

[00:30:30] [SPEAKER_01]: 99.9 percent

[00:30:32] [SPEAKER_01]: pure.

[00:30:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's a

[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_01]: completely different

[00:30:35] [SPEAKER_01]: drug.

[00:30:36] [SPEAKER_01]: The National Institute

[00:30:37] [SPEAKER_01]: on Drug Abuse

[00:30:38] [SPEAKER_01]: reports that

[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_01]: about 30 percent

[00:30:40] [SPEAKER_01]: of cannabis users

[00:30:41] [SPEAKER_01]: will become addicted,

[00:30:43] [SPEAKER_01]: especially those

[00:30:44] [SPEAKER_01]: who start before

[00:30:44] [SPEAKER_01]: the age of 18.

[00:30:46] [SPEAKER_01]: And brain scans

[00:30:48] [SPEAKER_01]: of regular users

[00:30:49] [SPEAKER_01]: are consistent

[00:30:49] [SPEAKER_01]: with the brain

[00:30:50] [SPEAKER_01]: circuitry of an addict.

[00:30:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah,

[00:30:52] [SPEAKER_01]: they used to say

[00:30:52] [SPEAKER_01]: marijuana was not

[00:30:53] [SPEAKER_01]: addictive,

[00:30:54] [SPEAKER_01]: but with this

[00:30:56] [SPEAKER_01]: kind of a

[00:30:57] [SPEAKER_01]: level of purity

[00:30:58] [SPEAKER_01]: and THC levels,

[00:31:01] [SPEAKER_01]: it definitely

[00:31:02] [SPEAKER_01]: is addictive.

[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_01]: The corporate

[00:31:04] [SPEAKER_01]: interest behind it

[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_01]: is certainly

[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_01]: pushing this.

[00:31:07] [SPEAKER_01]: They also

[00:31:08] [SPEAKER_01]: try to

[00:31:10] [SPEAKER_01]: convince states

[00:31:11] [SPEAKER_01]: to do it

[00:31:12] [SPEAKER_01]: by telling them

[00:31:13] [SPEAKER_01]: about the

[00:31:13] [SPEAKER_01]: revenues,

[00:31:15] [SPEAKER_01]: tax revenues

[00:31:15] [SPEAKER_01]: that will come

[00:31:16] [SPEAKER_01]: from legalized

[00:31:17] [SPEAKER_01]: marijuana.

[00:31:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Certainly,

[00:31:18] [SPEAKER_01]: that's,

[00:31:18] [SPEAKER_01]: in a sense,

[00:31:19] [SPEAKER_01]: true.

[00:31:20] [SPEAKER_01]: It's been

[00:31:20] [SPEAKER_01]: legalized in

[00:31:21] [SPEAKER_01]: 24 states

[00:31:21] [SPEAKER_01]: and another

[00:31:22] [SPEAKER_01]: 17 states

[00:31:24] [SPEAKER_01]: for medicinal

[00:31:24] [SPEAKER_01]: purposes,

[00:31:26] [SPEAKER_01]: which is kind

[00:31:26] [SPEAKER_01]: of a fraud.

[00:31:28] [SPEAKER_01]: But the question

[00:31:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Anne asks

[00:31:30] [SPEAKER_01]: is,

[00:31:31] [SPEAKER_01]: are they rolling

[00:31:32] [SPEAKER_01]: in tax revenue?

[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And she says

[00:31:34] [SPEAKER_01]: the answer

[00:31:34] [SPEAKER_01]: is quite the

[00:31:34] [SPEAKER_01]: opposite.

[00:31:35] [SPEAKER_01]: For every dollar

[00:31:36] [SPEAKER_01]: in marijuana

[00:31:37] [SPEAKER_01]: taxes the state

[00:31:38] [SPEAKER_01]: collects,

[00:31:38] [SPEAKER_01]: it spends

[00:31:38] [SPEAKER_01]: about $10

[00:31:39] [SPEAKER_01]: on increased

[00:31:40] [SPEAKER_01]: hospital admissions,

[00:31:42] [SPEAKER_01]: police to clean

[00:31:43] [SPEAKER_01]: up after all

[00:31:44] [SPEAKER_01]: the car crashes

[00:31:45] [SPEAKER_01]: and psychosis

[00:31:46] [SPEAKER_01]: induced crimes

[00:31:47] [SPEAKER_01]: and mental

[00:31:48] [SPEAKER_01]: health therapists

[00:31:48] [SPEAKER_01]: to deal

[00:31:49] [SPEAKER_01]: with suicide,

[00:31:50] [SPEAKER_01]: ideation,

[00:31:51] [SPEAKER_01]: depression,

[00:31:52] [SPEAKER_01]: and anxiety

[00:31:52] [SPEAKER_01]: caused by

[00:31:54] [SPEAKER_01]: increased

[00:31:54] [SPEAKER_01]: cannabis use.

[00:31:56] [SPEAKER_01]: And I know

[00:31:56] [SPEAKER_01]: people,

[00:31:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Colorado I think

[00:31:57] [SPEAKER_01]: was the first

[00:31:58] [SPEAKER_01]: state to

[00:31:59] [SPEAKER_01]: legalize marijuana

[00:32:00] [SPEAKER_01]: for medicinal,

[00:32:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry,

[00:32:03] [SPEAKER_01]: for recreational

[00:32:03] [SPEAKER_01]: use.

[00:32:04] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's

[00:32:06] [SPEAKER_01]: been a nightmare

[00:32:06] [SPEAKER_01]: according to

[00:32:07] [SPEAKER_01]: people I know

[00:32:08] [SPEAKER_01]: that live in

[00:32:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Colorado.

[00:32:10] [SPEAKER_01]: And,

[00:32:10] [SPEAKER_01]: you know,

[00:32:11] [SPEAKER_01]: they never

[00:32:12] [SPEAKER_01]: understood it

[00:32:12] [SPEAKER_01]: in the first

[00:32:13] [SPEAKER_01]: place why

[00:32:14] [SPEAKER_01]: the state

[00:32:14] [SPEAKER_01]: would do it,

[00:32:15] [SPEAKER_01]: but it has

[00:32:16] [SPEAKER_01]: not had the

[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_01]: benefits

[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_01]: that they

[00:32:20] [SPEAKER_01]: touted in

[00:32:21] [SPEAKER_01]: the early

[00:32:22] [SPEAKER_01]: days,

[00:32:22] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's

[00:32:23] [SPEAKER_01]: actually caused

[00:32:23] [SPEAKER_01]: a lot of

[00:32:24] [SPEAKER_01]: problems.

[00:32:24] [SPEAKER_01]: And many

[00:32:24] [SPEAKER_01]: do people

[00:32:25] [SPEAKER_01]: cite the

[00:32:25] [SPEAKER_01]: dangerous

[00:32:26] [SPEAKER_01]: drivers on

[00:32:27] [SPEAKER_01]: the road

[00:32:27] [SPEAKER_01]: have increased

[00:32:28] [SPEAKER_01]: because of

[00:32:29] [SPEAKER_01]: this.

[00:32:30] [SPEAKER_01]: In Colorado,

[00:32:32] [SPEAKER_01]: crime soared

[00:32:33] [SPEAKER_01]: to 11 times

[00:32:34] [SPEAKER_01]: the national

[00:32:34] [SPEAKER_01]: average,

[00:32:36] [SPEAKER_01]: and DUIs

[00:32:37] [SPEAKER_01]: increased.

[00:32:38] [SPEAKER_01]: 40% of the

[00:32:38] [SPEAKER_01]: stone drivers

[00:32:39] [SPEAKER_01]: were under

[00:32:39] [SPEAKER_01]: the age of

[00:32:40] [SPEAKER_01]: 18.

[00:32:42] [SPEAKER_01]: It will

[00:32:42] [SPEAKER_01]: accelerate our

[00:32:43] [SPEAKER_01]: descent into

[00:32:44] [SPEAKER_01]: what Ann

[00:32:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Coulter calls

[00:32:45] [SPEAKER_01]: mass retardation,

[00:32:47] [SPEAKER_01]: laziness,

[00:32:47] [SPEAKER_01]: and the inability

[00:32:48] [SPEAKER_01]: to engage in

[00:32:49] [SPEAKER_01]: a normal

[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_01]: adult

[00:32:51] [SPEAKER_01]: conversation.

[00:32:52] [SPEAKER_01]: And so

[00:32:53] [SPEAKER_01]: this is what's

[00:32:55] [SPEAKER_01]: being promised

[00:32:58] [SPEAKER_01]: to attract

[00:32:59] [SPEAKER_01]: black male

[00:33:00] [SPEAKER_01]: voters.

[00:33:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's

[00:33:01] [SPEAKER_01]: a little bit

[00:33:02] [SPEAKER_01]: crazy.

[00:33:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't

[00:33:03] [SPEAKER_01]: know if

[00:33:03] [SPEAKER_01]: it will

[00:33:03] [SPEAKER_01]: work.

[00:33:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Again,

[00:33:05] [SPEAKER_01]: we are

[00:33:05] [SPEAKER_01]: taking your

[00:33:05] [SPEAKER_01]: calls,

[00:33:06] [SPEAKER_01]: 800-351-1212,

[00:33:09] [SPEAKER_01]: and I will

[00:33:09] [SPEAKER_01]: take your

[00:33:10] [SPEAKER_01]: calls after

[00:33:11] [SPEAKER_01]: the break.

[00:33:13] [SPEAKER_01]: But I

[00:33:14] [SPEAKER_01]: guess my

[00:33:15] [SPEAKER_01]: question,

[00:33:15] [SPEAKER_01]: the question

[00:33:16] [SPEAKER_01]: that I

[00:33:16] [SPEAKER_01]: threw out,

[00:33:17] [SPEAKER_01]: and you

[00:33:17] [SPEAKER_01]: can talk

[00:33:18] [SPEAKER_01]: about the

[00:33:19] [SPEAKER_01]: wisdom of

[00:33:20] [SPEAKER_01]: legalizing pot,

[00:33:21] [SPEAKER_01]: or maybe you

[00:33:22] [SPEAKER_01]: have experience

[00:33:23] [SPEAKER_01]: in your own

[00:33:24] [SPEAKER_01]: state,

[00:33:24] [SPEAKER_01]: but also,

[00:33:25] [SPEAKER_01]: what did you

[00:33:26] [SPEAKER_01]: think?

[00:33:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Did you watch

[00:33:27] [SPEAKER_01]: the interview

[00:33:28] [SPEAKER_01]: with Brett

[00:33:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Baer on the

[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_01]: part of Kamala

[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Harris last

[00:33:31] [SPEAKER_01]: night?

[00:33:31] [SPEAKER_01]: What did you

[00:33:32] [SPEAKER_01]: think about it?

[00:33:32] [SPEAKER_01]: We will

[00:33:33] [SPEAKER_01]: talk about

[00:33:33] [SPEAKER_01]: that and

[00:33:34] [SPEAKER_01]: more,

[00:33:34] [SPEAKER_01]: and remember,

[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Sheila Walsh

[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_01]: joins me in

[00:33:36] [SPEAKER_01]: the second

[00:33:36] [SPEAKER_01]: hour.

[00:33:37] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll be

[00:33:37] [SPEAKER_01]: back.

[00:33:55] [SPEAKER_04]: You're

[00:33:55] [SPEAKER_04]: listening to

[00:33:56] [SPEAKER_04]: Point of

[00:33:57] [SPEAKER_04]: View,

[00:33:57] [SPEAKER_04]: your listener-supported

[00:33:59] [SPEAKER_04]: source for

[00:34:00] [SPEAKER_04]: truth.

[00:34:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back to

[00:34:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Point of View.

[00:34:03] [SPEAKER_01]: As I mentioned

[00:34:04] [SPEAKER_01]: earlier in the

[00:34:05] [SPEAKER_01]: program, we've

[00:34:05] [SPEAKER_01]: got a great

[00:34:06] [SPEAKER_01]: guest.

[00:34:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Second hour,

[00:34:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Sheila Walsh

[00:34:08] [SPEAKER_01]: will be talking

[00:34:08] [SPEAKER_01]: about heaven and

[00:34:10] [SPEAKER_01]: a lot of other

[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_01]: things probably,

[00:34:12] [SPEAKER_01]: and I'm looking

[00:34:13] [SPEAKER_01]: forward to that.

[00:34:14] [SPEAKER_01]: right now,

[00:34:15] [SPEAKER_01]: we're on the

[00:34:16] [SPEAKER_01]: election.

[00:34:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Brick has

[00:34:17] [SPEAKER_01]: been waiting to

[00:34:19] [SPEAKER_01]: talk with us

[00:34:19] [SPEAKER_01]: from Georgia.

[00:34:21] [SPEAKER_01]: So, Brick,

[00:34:21] [SPEAKER_01]: thanks for

[00:34:21] [SPEAKER_01]: calling in.

[00:34:22] [SPEAKER_01]: What's your

[00:34:22] [SPEAKER_01]: question?

[00:34:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, ma'am.

[00:34:26] [SPEAKER_02]: It's not so

[00:34:27] [SPEAKER_02]: much as a

[00:34:27] [SPEAKER_02]: question.

[00:34:28] [SPEAKER_02]: I was just

[00:34:28] [SPEAKER_02]: listening to your

[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_02]: conversation about

[00:34:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Kamala Harris,

[00:34:32] [SPEAKER_02]: and I think it's

[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_02]: anyone that votes

[00:34:35] [SPEAKER_02]: for a non-Christian

[00:34:38] [SPEAKER_02]: in there is what you

[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_02]: just said proves

[00:34:46] [SPEAKER_02]: that she is a

[00:34:46] [SPEAKER_02]: socialist.

[00:34:47] [SPEAKER_02]: She is a

[00:34:48] [SPEAKER_02]: communist.

[00:34:48] [SPEAKER_02]: She's not

[00:34:49] [SPEAKER_02]: fitting to be

[00:34:50] [SPEAKER_02]: a Georgia

[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_02]: pro.

[00:35:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Did you happen

[00:35:04] [SPEAKER_01]: to watch that

[00:35:05] [SPEAKER_01]: interview last

[00:35:05] [SPEAKER_01]: night with Fox?

[00:35:08] [SPEAKER_02]: No, I didn't

[00:35:08] [SPEAKER_02]: get a chance to

[00:35:09] [SPEAKER_02]: watch it.

[00:35:10] [SPEAKER_02]: If anything that

[00:35:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Harris has got,

[00:35:12] [SPEAKER_02]: ma'am, I don't

[00:35:12] [SPEAKER_02]: want to see.

[00:35:13] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to

[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_02]: see.

[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_02]: I think she ought

[00:35:15] [SPEAKER_02]: to be put out

[00:35:15] [SPEAKER_02]: of the country.

[00:35:16] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll let

[00:35:17] [SPEAKER_02]: someone else

[00:35:17] [SPEAKER_02]: be.

[00:35:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, first

[00:35:20] [SPEAKER_01]: of all,

[00:35:20] [SPEAKER_01]: probably just

[00:35:22] [SPEAKER_01]: needs to deal

[00:35:22] [SPEAKER_01]: with the

[00:35:23] [SPEAKER_01]: election, but

[00:35:24] [SPEAKER_01]: we were sort

[00:35:25] [SPEAKER_01]: of describing the

[00:35:27] [SPEAKER_01]: interview as a

[00:35:27] [SPEAKER_01]: way for her to

[00:35:28] [SPEAKER_01]: present herself

[00:35:29] [SPEAKER_01]: to those who

[00:35:29] [SPEAKER_01]: are still

[00:35:30] [SPEAKER_01]: undecided.

[00:35:32] [SPEAKER_01]: The question I

[00:35:33] [SPEAKER_01]: was asking

[00:35:34] [SPEAKER_01]: listeners was,

[00:35:35] [SPEAKER_01]: did we get

[00:35:35] [SPEAKER_01]: any new

[00:35:36] [SPEAKER_01]: information from

[00:35:37] [SPEAKER_01]: that?

[00:35:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Whatever else

[00:35:39] [SPEAKER_01]: you want to

[00:35:40] [SPEAKER_01]: say about

[00:35:40] [SPEAKER_01]: that interview,

[00:35:41] [SPEAKER_01]: we'd love to

[00:35:42] [SPEAKER_01]: hear from

[00:35:42] [SPEAKER_01]: you.

[00:35:42] [SPEAKER_01]: 800-351-1212.

[00:35:45] [SPEAKER_01]: I also wanted

[00:35:46] [SPEAKER_01]: to mention

[00:35:46] [SPEAKER_01]: the stats that

[00:35:48] [SPEAKER_01]: we're seeing,

[00:35:49] [SPEAKER_01]: and I put an

[00:35:49] [SPEAKER_01]: article up at

[00:35:50] [SPEAKER_01]: pointofview.net

[00:35:51] [SPEAKER_01]: about boys

[00:35:52] [SPEAKER_01]: versus girls,

[00:35:53] [SPEAKER_01]: and really the

[00:35:54] [SPEAKER_01]: question is,

[00:35:55] [SPEAKER_01]: and some stats

[00:35:56] [SPEAKER_01]: that we've got

[00:35:57] [SPEAKER_01]: out there,

[00:35:58] [SPEAKER_01]: is who's

[00:35:59] [SPEAKER_01]: supporting who,

[00:36:00] [SPEAKER_01]: and it looks

[00:36:00] [SPEAKER_01]: like the

[00:36:02] [SPEAKER_01]: support of

[00:36:04] [SPEAKER_01]: women for

[00:36:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Trump is up

[00:36:06] [SPEAKER_01]: by about 13

[00:36:08] [SPEAKER_01]: points from

[00:36:09] [SPEAKER_01]: the last

[00:36:09] [SPEAKER_01]: election,

[00:36:10] [SPEAKER_01]: from the

[00:36:10] [SPEAKER_01]: 2020 election,

[00:36:12] [SPEAKER_01]: and the

[00:36:15] [SPEAKER_01]: support for

[00:36:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Harris by

[00:36:17] [SPEAKER_01]: guys is up

[00:36:18] [SPEAKER_01]: by about 14

[00:36:19] [SPEAKER_01]: points.

[00:36:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And this is

[00:36:21] [SPEAKER_01]: with all men,

[00:36:22] [SPEAKER_01]: but we're

[00:36:22] [SPEAKER_01]: seeing a more

[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_01]: pronounced shift

[00:36:24] [SPEAKER_01]: with young men.

[00:36:24] [SPEAKER_01]: More young

[00:36:25] [SPEAKER_01]: men are

[00:36:26] [SPEAKER_01]: going toward

[00:36:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Trump and

[00:36:29] [SPEAKER_01]: young women

[00:36:29] [SPEAKER_01]: toward Harris,

[00:36:30] [SPEAKER_01]: and a lot

[00:36:31] [SPEAKER_01]: of it, I

[00:36:31] [SPEAKER_01]: mean, some

[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_01]: of it has

[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_01]: to do with

[00:36:33] [SPEAKER_01]: reproductive

[00:36:33] [SPEAKER_01]: rights, I

[00:36:34] [SPEAKER_01]: think.

[00:36:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Her, Harris's

[00:36:37] [SPEAKER_01]: support for

[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_01]: abortion, visit

[00:36:39] [SPEAKER_01]: to abortion

[00:36:39] [SPEAKER_01]: clinics,

[00:36:40] [SPEAKER_01]: appearing on

[00:36:42] [SPEAKER_01]: the show

[00:36:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Call Her

[00:36:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Daddy podcast

[00:36:46] [SPEAKER_01]: with Alex

[00:36:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Cooper and

[00:36:47] [SPEAKER_01]: The View and

[00:36:48] [SPEAKER_01]: things like

[00:36:48] [SPEAKER_01]: that.

[00:36:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Trump, he's

[00:36:51] [SPEAKER_01]: making a lot

[00:36:51] [SPEAKER_01]: of appearances

[00:36:52] [SPEAKER_01]: on male

[00:36:53] [SPEAKER_01]: centered

[00:36:53] [SPEAKER_01]: podcasts, and

[00:36:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I think young

[00:36:55] [SPEAKER_01]: men especially

[00:36:56] [SPEAKER_01]: are moving

[00:36:58] [SPEAKER_01]: toward him

[00:36:58] [SPEAKER_01]: perhaps because

[00:36:59] [SPEAKER_01]: they don't

[00:37:00] [SPEAKER_01]: like the

[00:37:01] [SPEAKER_01]: message that

[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_01]: their masculinity

[00:37:04] [SPEAKER_01]: is toxic,

[00:37:05] [SPEAKER_01]: which has

[00:37:05] [SPEAKER_01]: kind of been

[00:37:06] [SPEAKER_01]: out there for

[00:37:06] [SPEAKER_01]: several years,

[00:37:09] [SPEAKER_01]: and so they

[00:37:10] [SPEAKER_01]: just kind of

[00:37:12] [SPEAKER_01]: are moving

[00:37:12] [SPEAKER_01]: toward, the

[00:37:14] [SPEAKER_01]: way I look at

[00:37:15] [SPEAKER_01]: it is, they

[00:37:16] [SPEAKER_01]: know that they're

[00:37:17] [SPEAKER_01]: respected by

[00:37:20] [SPEAKER_01]: conservative

[00:37:20] [SPEAKER_01]: women and

[00:37:22] [SPEAKER_01]: conservative

[00:37:22] [SPEAKER_01]: men, and so

[00:37:24] [SPEAKER_01]: they're moving

[00:37:24] [SPEAKER_01]: in that direction,

[00:37:25] [SPEAKER_01]: and you know,

[00:37:26] [SPEAKER_01]: we've seen this,

[00:37:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I've talked

[00:37:27] [SPEAKER_01]: about it with

[00:37:28] [SPEAKER_01]: churches, their

[00:37:29] [SPEAKER_01]: young men are

[00:37:31] [SPEAKER_01]: going to church

[00:37:32] [SPEAKER_01]: more than young

[00:37:32] [SPEAKER_01]: women, many of

[00:37:34] [SPEAKER_01]: the women are

[00:37:35] [SPEAKER_01]: leaving church,

[00:37:36] [SPEAKER_01]: men are staying,

[00:37:37] [SPEAKER_01]: and men are

[00:37:38] [SPEAKER_01]: actually finding

[00:37:40] [SPEAKER_01]: that they're

[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_01]: growing in

[00:37:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Christ, and

[00:37:43] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, my

[00:37:43] [SPEAKER_01]: hope is that

[00:37:44] [SPEAKER_01]: they'll invite

[00:37:45] [SPEAKER_01]: the women back

[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_01]: to church, and

[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_01]: we'll get all

[00:37:47] [SPEAKER_01]: the young people

[00:37:47] [SPEAKER_01]: back in church,

[00:37:49] [SPEAKER_01]: that would be

[00:37:50] [SPEAKER_01]: wonderful.

[00:37:51] [SPEAKER_01]: But last

[00:37:52] [SPEAKER_01]: week, former

[00:37:54] [SPEAKER_01]: President Obama

[00:37:55] [SPEAKER_01]: went to a

[00:37:56] [SPEAKER_01]: group of black

[00:37:56] [SPEAKER_01]: men, and he

[00:37:57] [SPEAKER_01]: was admonishing

[00:37:58] [SPEAKER_01]: them for not

[00:37:59] [SPEAKER_01]: supporting Kamala

[00:38:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Harris, he said

[00:38:03] [SPEAKER_01]: that the brothers

[00:38:04] [SPEAKER_01]: were just not

[00:38:05] [SPEAKER_01]: supporting her

[00:38:06] [SPEAKER_01]: the way that

[00:38:07] [SPEAKER_01]: they supported

[00:38:07] [SPEAKER_01]: him, and

[00:38:10] [SPEAKER_01]: so, you know,

[00:38:11] [SPEAKER_01]: that was the

[00:38:11] [SPEAKER_01]: message, he

[00:38:13] [SPEAKER_01]: said as many

[00:38:13] [SPEAKER_01]: as 20% of

[00:38:15] [SPEAKER_01]: black men are

[00:38:16] [SPEAKER_01]: considering voting

[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_01]: for Donald

[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Trump.

[00:38:18] [SPEAKER_01]: This was a

[00:38:19] [SPEAKER_01]: meeting in

[00:38:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Pittsburgh,

[00:38:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Pennsylvania,

[00:38:21] [SPEAKER_01]: a swing state,

[00:38:21] [SPEAKER_01]: of course, and

[00:38:23] [SPEAKER_01]: he said, part

[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_01]: of it makes me

[00:38:25] [SPEAKER_01]: think that, well,

[00:38:26] [SPEAKER_01]: you aren't

[00:38:26] [SPEAKER_01]: feeling the

[00:38:27] [SPEAKER_01]: idea of having

[00:38:28] [SPEAKER_01]: a woman as

[00:38:29] [SPEAKER_01]: president, and

[00:38:30] [SPEAKER_01]: you're coming up

[00:38:31] [SPEAKER_01]: with other

[00:38:31] [SPEAKER_01]: alternatives and

[00:38:32] [SPEAKER_01]: other reasons for

[00:38:33] [SPEAKER_01]: that.

[00:38:34] [SPEAKER_01]: He argued that

[00:38:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Trump is putting

[00:38:36] [SPEAKER_01]: women down, so

[00:38:37] [SPEAKER_01]: this is why

[00:38:37] [SPEAKER_01]: black men

[00:38:39] [SPEAKER_01]: support him.

[00:38:40] [SPEAKER_01]: That was the

[00:38:40] [SPEAKER_01]: reason he thinks

[00:38:41] [SPEAKER_01]: the black men are

[00:38:42] [SPEAKER_01]: supporting him.

[00:38:42] [SPEAKER_01]: nothing about

[00:38:43] [SPEAKER_01]: the economy,

[00:38:45] [SPEAKER_01]: nothing about

[00:38:46] [SPEAKER_01]: the tax cuts

[00:38:46] [SPEAKER_01]: that happened

[00:38:47] [SPEAKER_01]: in 2017,

[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_01]: nothing about

[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_01]: more jobs

[00:38:49] [SPEAKER_01]: for all

[00:38:51] [SPEAKER_01]: minorities that

[00:38:52] [SPEAKER_01]: took place

[00:38:53] [SPEAKER_01]: after that,

[00:38:53] [SPEAKER_01]: after that law

[00:38:55] [SPEAKER_01]: passed.

[00:38:56] [SPEAKER_01]: But, you

[00:38:57] [SPEAKER_01]: know, if you

[00:38:59] [SPEAKER_01]: aren't voting

[00:39:00] [SPEAKER_01]: for Harris,

[00:39:00] [SPEAKER_01]: you aren't man

[00:39:01] [SPEAKER_01]: enough, and

[00:39:01] [SPEAKER_01]: you're an easy

[00:39:02] [SPEAKER_01]: mark for

[00:39:03] [SPEAKER_01]: quote-unquote

[00:39:03] [SPEAKER_01]: misinformation.

[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_01]: That was

[00:39:05] [SPEAKER_01]: kind of his

[00:39:05] [SPEAKER_01]: message to the

[00:39:06] [SPEAKER_01]: black man.

[00:39:08] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, is

[00:39:09] [SPEAKER_01]: it impossible

[00:39:09] [SPEAKER_01]: that black men

[00:39:10] [SPEAKER_01]: would think Mr.

[00:39:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Trump may do

[00:39:13] [SPEAKER_01]: a better job

[00:39:14] [SPEAKER_01]: for the economy

[00:39:14] [SPEAKER_01]: and that would

[00:39:15] [SPEAKER_01]: benefit them?

[00:39:17] [SPEAKER_01]: A Democratic

[00:39:18] [SPEAKER_01]: administration or

[00:39:19] [SPEAKER_01]: that the Democrats

[00:39:20] [SPEAKER_01]: deny that sex is

[00:39:21] [SPEAKER_01]: a biological

[00:39:23] [SPEAKER_01]: reality?

[00:39:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Some people just

[00:39:25] [SPEAKER_01]: can't quite buy

[00:39:27] [SPEAKER_01]: that message.

[00:39:28] [SPEAKER_01]: And that was

[00:39:29] [SPEAKER_01]: also mentioned

[00:39:30] [SPEAKER_01]: in the debate

[00:39:31] [SPEAKER_01]: last night.

[00:39:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And we do

[00:39:34] [SPEAKER_01]: have another

[00:39:34] [SPEAKER_01]: person that wants

[00:39:35] [SPEAKER_01]: to talk about

[00:39:36] [SPEAKER_01]: the debate.

[00:39:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk to

[00:39:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Dave in

[00:39:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Arkansas,

[00:39:40] [SPEAKER_01]: listening in

[00:39:41] [SPEAKER_01]: on KJNP.

[00:39:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Hi, Dave.

[00:39:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for

[00:39:43] [SPEAKER_01]: calling.

[00:39:44] [SPEAKER_06]: Hi, Penn.

[00:39:45] [SPEAKER_06]: Hey, I

[00:39:46] [SPEAKER_06]: appreciate you

[00:39:46] [SPEAKER_06]: guys a lot.

[00:39:47] [SPEAKER_06]: And it's not

[00:39:47] [SPEAKER_06]: Arkansas, it's

[00:39:48] [SPEAKER_06]: Alaska.

[00:39:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay.

[00:39:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[00:39:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I've got my

[00:39:51] [SPEAKER_01]: abbreviations wrong.

[00:39:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, we do

[00:39:53] [SPEAKER_01]: have stations in

[00:39:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Alaska, ladies and

[00:39:55] [SPEAKER_01]: gentlemen.

[00:39:55] [SPEAKER_01]: So, Dave, thanks

[00:39:56] [SPEAKER_01]: for calling.

[00:39:57] [SPEAKER_06]: You're welcome.

[00:39:58] [SPEAKER_06]: Hey, I want

[00:39:59] [SPEAKER_06]: to inter-tie

[00:40:01] [SPEAKER_06]: the two subjects

[00:40:02] [SPEAKER_06]: because I think

[00:40:02] [SPEAKER_06]: there's a reality

[00:40:03] [SPEAKER_06]: to the fact

[00:40:04] [SPEAKER_06]: that the

[00:40:05] [SPEAKER_06]: marijuana

[00:40:06] [SPEAKER_06]: that's not

[00:40:07] [SPEAKER_06]: our grandfather's

[00:40:08] [SPEAKER_06]: or father's

[00:40:09] [SPEAKER_06]: marijuana.

[00:40:09] [SPEAKER_06]: And the

[00:40:11] [SPEAKER_06]: debate results,

[00:40:13] [SPEAKER_06]: what you saw

[00:40:14] [SPEAKER_06]: in Kamala Harris

[00:40:15] [SPEAKER_06]: was a totally

[00:40:15] [SPEAKER_06]: disconnected

[00:40:16] [SPEAKER_06]: individual.

[00:40:17] [SPEAKER_06]: The brain,

[00:40:18] [SPEAKER_06]: I mean, people

[00:40:19] [SPEAKER_06]: are saying it's

[00:40:19] [SPEAKER_06]: fried.

[00:40:20] [SPEAKER_06]: I think it

[00:40:21] [SPEAKER_06]: literally is.

[00:40:22] [SPEAKER_06]: And I think

[00:40:23] [SPEAKER_06]: it's a

[00:40:23] [SPEAKER_06]: marijuana result.

[00:40:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Really?

[00:40:26] [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, because

[00:40:27] [SPEAKER_06]: she could not

[00:40:27] [SPEAKER_06]: even, she

[00:40:29] [SPEAKER_06]: couldn't correlate

[00:40:30] [SPEAKER_06]: the reality that

[00:40:31] [SPEAKER_06]: she's in charge

[00:40:32] [SPEAKER_06]: and responsible

[00:40:33] [SPEAKER_06]: for the things

[00:40:34] [SPEAKER_06]: that are

[00:40:34] [SPEAKER_06]: happening.

[00:40:35] [SPEAKER_06]: That's

[00:40:36] [SPEAKER_06]: living in

[00:40:36] [SPEAKER_06]: a delusion.

[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_06]: And so, I

[00:40:39] [SPEAKER_06]: think that

[00:40:39] [SPEAKER_06]: delusion isn't

[00:40:41] [SPEAKER_06]: just made

[00:40:42] [SPEAKER_06]: up.

[00:40:42] [SPEAKER_06]: I think the

[00:40:43] [SPEAKER_06]: brain cells have

[00:40:44] [SPEAKER_06]: been fried.

[00:40:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I have no

[00:40:47] [SPEAKER_01]: idea whether,

[00:40:48] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, she's

[00:40:50] [SPEAKER_01]: actually doing

[00:40:52] [SPEAKER_01]: drugs or not.

[00:40:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I never really

[00:40:54] [SPEAKER_01]: thought of that

[00:40:55] [SPEAKER_01]: before, Dave.

[00:40:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I just think

[00:40:58] [SPEAKER_01]: it's a ploy

[00:40:59] [SPEAKER_01]: because she's

[00:41:00] [SPEAKER_01]: at least smart

[00:41:01] [SPEAKER_01]: enough to know

[00:41:02] [SPEAKER_01]: that to own

[00:41:04] [SPEAKER_01]: what happened

[00:41:04] [SPEAKER_01]: the last three

[00:41:05] [SPEAKER_01]: and a half years

[00:41:06] [SPEAKER_01]: isn't going to

[00:41:06] [SPEAKER_01]: help her.

[00:41:07] [SPEAKER_01]: The problem

[00:41:08] [SPEAKER_01]: with it is

[00:41:08] [SPEAKER_01]: she hasn't

[00:41:09] [SPEAKER_01]: been able

[00:41:09] [SPEAKER_01]: to articulate

[00:41:10] [SPEAKER_01]: it well

[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_01]: and she

[00:41:13] [SPEAKER_01]: hasn't been

[00:41:13] [SPEAKER_01]: able to

[00:41:13] [SPEAKER_01]: explain how

[00:41:15] [SPEAKER_01]: she could

[00:41:16] [SPEAKER_01]: pivot from

[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_01]: that.

[00:41:18] [SPEAKER_01]: She just

[00:41:19] [SPEAKER_01]: hasn't been

[00:41:19] [SPEAKER_01]: able to do

[00:41:20] [SPEAKER_01]: it.

[00:41:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And last

[00:41:21] [SPEAKER_01]: night in

[00:41:21] [SPEAKER_01]: the interview

[00:41:23] [SPEAKER_01]: with Brett

[00:41:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Baer,

[00:41:24] [SPEAKER_01]: she turned

[00:41:25] [SPEAKER_01]: every question

[00:41:26] [SPEAKER_01]: to either

[00:41:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I will

[00:41:27] [SPEAKER_01]: follow the

[00:41:28] [SPEAKER_01]: law,

[00:41:29] [SPEAKER_01]: which she

[00:41:30] [SPEAKER_01]: said with

[00:41:30] [SPEAKER_01]: regard to

[00:41:31] [SPEAKER_01]: immigration

[00:41:31] [SPEAKER_01]: policy,

[00:41:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I will

[00:41:33] [SPEAKER_01]: follow the

[00:41:33] [SPEAKER_01]: law,

[00:41:34] [SPEAKER_01]: which they

[00:41:34] [SPEAKER_01]: haven't done

[00:41:35] [SPEAKER_01]: obviously,

[00:41:36] [SPEAKER_01]: and with

[00:41:38] [SPEAKER_01]: regard to

[00:41:38] [SPEAKER_01]: the idea

[00:41:39] [SPEAKER_01]: of providing

[00:41:40] [SPEAKER_01]: sex change

[00:41:41] [SPEAKER_01]: surgeries to

[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_01]: prisoners,

[00:41:43] [SPEAKER_01]: she said I

[00:41:44] [SPEAKER_01]: will follow

[00:41:44] [SPEAKER_01]: the law.

[00:41:45] [SPEAKER_01]: She supported

[00:41:45] [SPEAKER_01]: doing that

[00:41:46] [SPEAKER_01]: before.

[00:41:47] [SPEAKER_01]: So that was

[00:41:48] [SPEAKER_01]: her answer

[00:41:48] [SPEAKER_01]: and then the

[00:41:49] [SPEAKER_01]: other answer

[00:41:49] [SPEAKER_01]: was just

[00:41:50] [SPEAKER_01]: much,

[00:41:51] [SPEAKER_01]: much,

[00:41:51] [SPEAKER_01]: much talk

[00:41:51] [SPEAKER_01]: about what

[00:41:52] [SPEAKER_01]: a bad

[00:41:53] [SPEAKER_01]: person Donald

[00:41:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Trump is.

[00:41:54] [SPEAKER_01]: But you

[00:41:55] [SPEAKER_01]: think that

[00:41:56] [SPEAKER_01]: perhaps she's

[00:41:57] [SPEAKER_01]: influenced by

[00:41:58] [SPEAKER_01]: drugs herself.

[00:41:59] [SPEAKER_06]: I do.

[00:42:00] [SPEAKER_06]: And because,

[00:42:01] [SPEAKER_06]: I mean,

[00:42:02] [SPEAKER_06]: if you look

[00:42:03] [SPEAKER_06]: at the overall

[00:42:04] [SPEAKER_06]: tone, she

[00:42:06] [SPEAKER_06]: takes accountability

[00:42:06] [SPEAKER_06]: for nothing.

[00:42:08] [SPEAKER_06]: And that's

[00:42:09] [SPEAKER_06]: just a fact,

[00:42:10] [SPEAKER_06]: even though she

[00:42:11] [SPEAKER_06]: has the

[00:42:11] [SPEAKER_06]: position.

[00:42:12] [SPEAKER_06]: And so what

[00:42:13] [SPEAKER_06]: really got

[00:42:13] [SPEAKER_06]: under my

[00:42:14] [SPEAKER_06]: skin was

[00:42:15] [SPEAKER_06]: when the

[00:42:15] [SPEAKER_06]: lady,

[00:42:16] [SPEAKER_06]: the mother

[00:42:16] [SPEAKER_06]: is talking

[00:42:17] [SPEAKER_06]: about,

[00:42:18] [SPEAKER_06]: you know,

[00:42:19] [SPEAKER_06]: the blame,

[00:42:20] [SPEAKER_06]: which is

[00:42:20] [SPEAKER_06]: rightfully

[00:42:21] [SPEAKER_06]: placed on

[00:42:22] [SPEAKER_06]: the Biden

[00:42:22] [SPEAKER_06]: and Harris

[00:42:23] [SPEAKER_06]: administration

[00:42:24] [SPEAKER_06]: for the

[00:42:25] [SPEAKER_06]: death of

[00:42:26] [SPEAKER_06]: her daughter,

[00:42:26] [SPEAKER_06]: all she

[00:42:27] [SPEAKER_06]: can do

[00:42:27] [SPEAKER_06]: is muster

[00:42:29] [SPEAKER_06]: the fact

[00:42:30] [SPEAKER_06]: that,

[00:42:30] [SPEAKER_06]: oh,

[00:42:31] [SPEAKER_06]: that sounds

[00:42:31] [SPEAKER_06]: terrible,

[00:42:32] [SPEAKER_06]: but never

[00:42:33] [SPEAKER_06]: admit that

[00:42:35] [SPEAKER_06]: she's the

[00:42:36] [SPEAKER_06]: one responsible

[00:42:36] [SPEAKER_06]: for it.

[00:42:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:42:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Never any

[00:42:38] [SPEAKER_01]: kind of

[00:42:39] [SPEAKER_01]: apology.

[00:42:39] [SPEAKER_01]: You could

[00:42:39] [SPEAKER_01]: do a

[00:42:40] [SPEAKER_01]: light apology

[00:42:41] [SPEAKER_01]: if you...

[00:42:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:42:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.

[00:42:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:42:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Dave,

[00:42:44] [SPEAKER_01]: thank you.

[00:42:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate it.

[00:42:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:42:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for

[00:42:46] [SPEAKER_01]: calling in

[00:42:47] [SPEAKER_01]: and for that

[00:42:47] [SPEAKER_01]: opinion.

[00:42:48] [SPEAKER_01]: And ladies

[00:42:49] [SPEAKER_01]: and gentlemen,

[00:42:49] [SPEAKER_01]: that's all

[00:42:50] [SPEAKER_01]: on the

[00:42:50] [SPEAKER_01]: election

[00:42:50] [SPEAKER_01]: today.

[00:42:51] [SPEAKER_01]: We just,

[00:42:52] [SPEAKER_01]: we have to

[00:42:52] [SPEAKER_01]: catch up a

[00:42:53] [SPEAKER_01]: little bit

[00:42:53] [SPEAKER_01]: sometimes

[00:42:54] [SPEAKER_01]: with this

[00:42:54] [SPEAKER_01]: and we

[00:42:56] [SPEAKER_01]: hope that

[00:42:57] [SPEAKER_01]: you'll be

[00:42:57] [SPEAKER_01]: engaged

[00:42:57] [SPEAKER_01]: though with

[00:42:58] [SPEAKER_01]: your

[00:42:58] [SPEAKER_01]: opinions,

[00:42:59] [SPEAKER_01]: with your

[00:42:59] [SPEAKER_01]: work for

[00:43:00] [SPEAKER_01]: the candidate

[00:43:00] [SPEAKER_01]: of your

[00:43:01] [SPEAKER_01]: choice.

[00:43:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Next up,

[00:43:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm so

[00:43:02] [SPEAKER_01]: excited to

[00:43:03] [SPEAKER_01]: interview

[00:43:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Sheila Walsh

[00:43:04] [SPEAKER_01]: on her new

[00:43:05] [SPEAKER_01]: book about

[00:43:06] [SPEAKER_01]: heaven.

[00:43:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Stick with

[00:43:07] [SPEAKER_01]: us and we

[00:43:08] [SPEAKER_01]: will take

[00:43:08] [SPEAKER_01]: your calls.

[00:43:09] [SPEAKER_01]: You may

[00:43:09] [SPEAKER_01]: have some

[00:43:09] [SPEAKER_01]: questions.

[00:43:10] [SPEAKER_05]: In 19th

[00:43:11] [SPEAKER_05]: century London,

[00:43:12] [SPEAKER_05]: two towering

[00:43:13] [SPEAKER_05]: historical figures

[00:43:15] [SPEAKER_05]: did battle,

[00:43:16] [SPEAKER_05]: not with guns

[00:43:16] [SPEAKER_05]: and bombs,

[00:43:18] [SPEAKER_05]: but words

[00:43:18] [SPEAKER_05]: and ideas.

[00:43:19] [SPEAKER_05]: London was

[00:43:20] [SPEAKER_05]: home to

[00:43:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Karl Marx,

[00:43:22] [SPEAKER_05]: the father

[00:43:23] [SPEAKER_05]: of communism

[00:43:23] [SPEAKER_05]: and legendary

[00:43:25] [SPEAKER_05]: Baptist preacher

[00:43:26] [SPEAKER_05]: Charles Spurgeon.

[00:43:28] [SPEAKER_05]: London was

[00:43:28] [SPEAKER_05]: in many ways

[00:43:29] [SPEAKER_05]: the center

[00:43:30] [SPEAKER_05]: of the world

[00:43:30] [SPEAKER_05]: economically,

[00:43:31] [SPEAKER_05]: militarily

[00:43:32] [SPEAKER_05]: and intellectually.

[00:43:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Marx sought

[00:43:35] [SPEAKER_05]: to destroy

[00:43:36] [SPEAKER_05]: religion,

[00:43:36] [SPEAKER_05]: the family

[00:43:37] [SPEAKER_05]: and everything

[00:43:38] [SPEAKER_05]: the Bible

[00:43:38] [SPEAKER_05]: supports.

[00:43:39] [SPEAKER_05]: Spurgeon

[00:43:40] [SPEAKER_05]: stood against

[00:43:41] [SPEAKER_05]: him,

[00:43:41] [SPEAKER_05]: warning of

[00:43:42] [SPEAKER_05]: socialism's

[00:43:43] [SPEAKER_05]: dangers.

[00:43:44] [SPEAKER_05]: Spurgeon

[00:43:44] [SPEAKER_05]: understood

[00:43:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Christianity

[00:43:45] [SPEAKER_05]: is not

[00:43:46] [SPEAKER_05]: just

[00:43:47] [SPEAKER_05]: religious

[00:43:47] [SPEAKER_05]: truth,

[00:43:48] [SPEAKER_05]: it is

[00:43:49] [SPEAKER_05]: truth for

[00:43:49] [SPEAKER_05]: all of

[00:43:50] [SPEAKER_05]: life.

[00:43:50] [SPEAKER_05]: Where do

[00:43:51] [SPEAKER_05]: you find

[00:43:52] [SPEAKER_05]: men with

[00:43:52] [SPEAKER_05]: that kind

[00:43:53] [SPEAKER_05]: of wisdom

[00:43:53] [SPEAKER_05]: to stand

[00:43:54] [SPEAKER_05]: against

[00:43:54] [SPEAKER_05]: darkness

[00:43:54] [SPEAKER_05]: today?
