[00:00:04] Across America Live, this is Point of View, Kirby Anderson.

[00:00:20] You know one of the words we use so often here on Point of View is discernment. We need biblical discernment like never before.

[00:00:27] And today we're going to be talking about what I might call the three D's. Disinformation, deception, which is even worse, and discernment.

[00:00:35] And of course we live in a world that has redefined marriage, redefined gender and sexuality.

[00:00:40] We have a media back in 2020 that assured us that the protests were mostly peaceful while buildings were burning in the background.

[00:00:48] Hamas attacks Jewish citizens on October 7th. The media tells us it's Israel's fault.

[00:00:54] We have a World Economic Forum that just met in Davos telling us that we'll own nothing, have no privacy and be happy.

[00:01:01] Medical establishment, as we've talked about before, that assures us that men can give birth to babies.

[00:01:06] A surgeon general even told us to stop buying masks.

[00:01:10] And later, everybody had to buy masks because after all, that's going to protect you from infection, sickness and disease.

[00:01:16] And even as we get into the churches, as we'll talk about in just a few minutes, pastors and others may be teaching new tolerance

[00:01:23] and maybe calling for Christians to affirm and accept any kind of behavior.

[00:01:28] And we have some extremes where they're teaching legalism and teaching that you can work your way into heaven.

[00:01:33] Others that believe in easy believism.

[00:01:36] So we're going to try to cover many of those topics today because of this new book that we've been talking about even before the interview today.

[00:01:43] It's entitled Living in the Days of Deception, How to Discern Truth from Culture's Lies.

[00:01:49] It is written by Pastor Jack Hibbs.

[00:01:51] He is the author of the book, also, of course, the senior pastor of Calvary Chapel, Chino Hills.

[00:01:57] And this book is published by our good friends at Harvest House.

[00:02:01] Ten chapters recognizing deception and two concluding chapters talking about standing for God's truth.

[00:02:08] Jack Hibbs, welcome to Point of View.

[00:02:11] Kirby, it's an honor. Thank you.

[00:02:13] It is great to have you on the program.

[00:02:15] And we certainly have quoted you many times.

[00:02:17] So it's nice to be able to quote you and hear from you directly.

[00:02:21] This book just came out.

[00:02:22] It is published by Harvest House.

[00:02:24] It is really a manual for individuals living in this incredible deception.

[00:02:29] You use the idea of truly fog.

[00:02:31] Since I grew up in California, I know what you're talking about.

[00:02:34] I think others do as well.

[00:02:35] And we kind of live in this fog world in which we really, I think sometimes,

[00:02:40] don't even know who to trust and what to believe.

[00:02:43] Your thoughts?

[00:02:44] Yeah.

[00:02:44] Well, Kirby, you're exactly right.

[00:02:46] And as you said, having grown up in California, you know that when you start to enter that fog,

[00:02:50] it's ever so subtle.

[00:02:52] And it just begins to envelop you and those that are in the vehicle with you until you're going down the five freeway.

[00:02:59] And you're actually going at the same speed you were when it was clear,

[00:03:03] but you didn't realize until all of a sudden you rear-ended somebody at 70 miles an hour.

[00:03:08] And it happens every year.

[00:03:10] Well, you look at what's going on and your setup to this was so spot on.

[00:03:16] Everybody, you don't have to be a Christian to figure this out.

[00:03:19] Everybody has come to that situation to where you've had to make a choice between what some, quote,

[00:03:26] experts are telling you versus what your natural understanding of things are is telling you.

[00:03:33] You've got a political individual or maybe it's a religious individual telling you what you ought to do.

[00:03:39] The whole point of the book, Kirby, is to really bring to light what we lived through here in California during the COVID era.

[00:03:48] It just brought so many things to light.

[00:03:50] The level of deception, the things that were being told to us had no scientific nor cultural or historical backing.

[00:03:59] And so it didn't take long for us to figure out, wait a minute, everything's a moving target right now except one thing,

[00:04:06] and that is the Word of God.

[00:04:07] The Bible is sure and certain.

[00:04:09] So I did a teaching series titled Living in the Days of Deception,

[00:04:14] and I had no idea that it would take off and get the traction that it did.

[00:04:19] And as you mentioned, the wonderful people at Harvest House said, you've got to make this a book.

[00:04:23] And so it's not just for the Christian community.

[00:04:27] Anybody can benefit from this book.

[00:04:29] And it's really a challenge to have you wake up and to know what truth is because truth is available

[00:04:35] and apply that truth to your life because right now everyone else is seeking to run your life and your economy,

[00:04:42] your church, your home, your kids.

[00:04:44] And where are they getting this authority from?

[00:04:47] And where are they getting this logic?

[00:04:49] What is their goal versus what God has for your life as a plan?

[00:04:53] So we must be discerning and we must recognize what Jesus said, that in the last days there's going to be levels of deception that are so great

[00:05:04] that if it were possible, even his own children would be deceived.

[00:05:09] So, yep.

[00:05:11] Again, a book that actually has the forward by an individual who's been on the program with us many times,

[00:05:16] Mike Pompeo as well as Amir Shafati as well as Erwin Lutzer, Frank Turek, James O'Keefe, Michelle Bachman, Jenna Ellis,

[00:05:25] all who have been on the program.

[00:05:26] But just before we get into all the specifics, I thought it would be good to set the scene

[00:05:30] because we knew this was coming in 2 Timothy chapter 4, probably the last epistle written by Paul to Timothy.

[00:05:39] He says there's a time that will come when they will be not able to endure sound doctrine

[00:05:45] and then goes on to say that they will turn their ears away from the truth and be turned aside to fables.

[00:05:53] Jack Hibbs, we have more fables and more things being promoted on social media and mainstream media

[00:06:00] than probably any time before.

[00:06:02] Make you think maybe we're in the end times.

[00:06:05] You know, it's amazing, Kirby, how maybe 10 years ago you would have read that verse

[00:06:09] and we would have thought that that's more of a prophetic verse coming.

[00:06:13] It certainly is a prophetic verse.

[00:06:15] But, oh, that's still a ways off.

[00:06:18] And now look at us today.

[00:06:19] We can honestly say, accurately say, biblically say, that we are actually in those days.

[00:06:24] I don't know when exactly we crossed that line and got into it,

[00:06:28] but look at the, quote, ministries that are gathering great crowds to tell people what they want to hear,

[00:06:36] what strokes their flesh or their ego versus what the gospel is.

[00:06:42] The gospel is repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.

[00:06:46] But we're not hearing much of the gospel these days.

[00:06:49] People want to be having a good feeling and then I'll see you a week from today

[00:06:54] and don't talk to me about anything else.

[00:06:57] And yet at the same time, Kirby, you know, too many of the world seems to be falling apart.

[00:07:02] They don't have a foundation.

[00:07:03] At least this is what we're experiencing.

[00:07:05] We are seeing people come to church in droves who otherwise never would have crossed the threshold of a church,

[00:07:11] but they are concerned and they believe that we are living at a time period that these people as non-believers are saying,

[00:07:20] I think the world's going to come to an end.

[00:07:22] Well, it's not going to come to an end, but you need to get right with the Lord and here's the reason why.

[00:07:27] So even the unbeliever is waking up.

[00:07:30] The part that's sad, Kirby, is that there's pastors today, so-called, that are just, well, they're in a daze.

[00:07:39] They don't seem to catch it.

[00:07:41] I love how you refer to that, too, as the gospel minus sin.

[00:07:44] And we will take a break and when we come back, we're going to get into that.

[00:07:47] Some chapters dealing with spiritual deception and spirits and demons, but even deception within the church.

[00:07:53] And we're going to focus some time and attention first on the church,

[00:07:55] but then we're going to go out into the world because you have these ideas of new tolerance,

[00:08:00] this idea of, you know, the World Economic Forum.

[00:08:04] We have all sorts of individuals that are telling us that we actually just need to embrace kind of a unity

[00:08:11] and eventually move to a one-world government, a one-world economic system, maybe even a one-world religion.

[00:08:17] And we need to be prepared.

[00:08:19] And this is why we highly recommend the book.

[00:08:22] We do have a link to JackHibbs.com, Real Life with Jack Hibbs.

[00:08:26] We have a link to Well as Well.

[00:08:27] His book just came out yesterday, but you probably can find it in your local bookstore.

[00:08:31] But if you can't find it or would like to order it, we have information about that.

[00:08:35] You can get it either in paperback or Kindle, 200 pages, 12 chapters.

[00:08:40] We'll continue our conversation with Pastor Jack Hibbett right after this.

[00:08:58] This is Viewpoints with Kirby Anderson.

[00:09:02] Each year we take time from our busy lives to celebrate a day of Thanksgiving.

[00:09:07] Though many holidays have become secular celebrations, this holiday still retains much of its historic religious overtones.

[00:09:14] A day of Thanksgiving was set aside by the pilgrims who founded the Plymouth Colony.

[00:09:18] Life was hard in the New World.

[00:09:20] Half of the pilgrims died in the first terrible winter.

[00:09:22] And after the first harvest was completed, Governor William Bradford proclaimed a day of Thanksgiving in prayer.

[00:09:28] By 1623, a day of fasting and prayer during a time of drought was changed to one of Thanksgiving because the rain came during their prayers.

[00:09:36] The custom prevailed in New England and eventually became a national holiday.

[00:09:40] Religious freedom is one of the lessons of Thanksgiving.

[00:09:42] In 1606, William Brewster led a group of separatists to Leiden in the Netherlands to escape religious persecution in England.

[00:09:49] After living in Leiden for more than 10 years, some members of the group voted to emigrate to America.

[00:09:54] Having been blown off course from their intended landing in Virginia by a terrible storm,

[00:09:59] the pilgrims landed at Cape Cod on November 1620.

[00:10:03] While still on the ship, the pilgrims signed the Mayflower Compact.

[00:10:06] The Mayflower Compact provides a second lesson of Thanksgiving, the importance of political freedom.

[00:10:12] On November 11th, 1620, Governor William Bradford and the leaders of the Mayflower signed the Mayflower Compact before setting foot on land.

[00:10:20] They wanted to acknowledge God's sovereignty in their lives and their need to obey Him.

[00:10:24] During this Thanksgiving season, let's return to the wisdom of the pilgrims.

[00:10:28] They valued their freedom and were willing to endure hardship in order to come to this country and freely worship.

[00:10:34] Let us thank God for these freedoms and be willing to defend them against all who would seek to take them away.

[00:10:40] I'm Kirby Anderson, and that's my Point of View.

[00:11:03] It's a privilege to have with us today Pastor Jack Hibbs as we talk about his new book,

[00:11:07] Living in the Days of Deception, How to Discern Truth from Culture's Lies.

[00:11:11] And if you think about this, in Matthew 24, Jesus says,

[00:11:15] Take heed that no one deceives you.

[00:11:18] And Jack, we have to talk about the reason this deception is taking place.

[00:11:22] You have a whole section here on the fact that there are deception from spirits.

[00:11:28] You talk about erroneous spirits, lying spirits, and demonic spirits.

[00:11:32] When we see the battle taking place, oftentimes culturally and politically, we have to realize there's a spiritual battle.

[00:11:40] And you take us in some of these early chapters into that very important battle field and know how to respond.

[00:11:46] Well, Kirby, I believe that all of the issues that are going on in the world around us are not personal in this sense.

[00:11:56] You know, we have a tendency in California here to get upset at Gavin Newsom for his antichrist position.

[00:12:02] But what we fail to realize often is that there's a power behind him.

[00:12:06] There is an invisible world, Jesus said.

[00:12:08] The Bible says the apostles tell us.

[00:12:10] We know this from the Old Testament as well.

[00:12:12] There's an invisible world where there's a struggle for the souls of men.

[00:12:18] It almost sounds like Lord of the Rings type stuff, but it is a fact.

[00:12:21] That's why Jesus Christ came.

[00:12:24] And Jesus said that he was, in fact, the truth.

[00:12:28] Now, that is a huge statement because by him saying that, he's saying by definite article, I am the truth.

[00:12:34] There's not another truth.

[00:12:36] He is the truth.

[00:12:37] But it also stands in stark opposition to the fact that he's standing as the truth because there are the lies.

[00:12:44] There's the false.

[00:12:45] And so you look around at what's going on.

[00:12:48] Gender, well, we can't know that for sure anymore.

[00:12:50] Notice all the lines have been skewed.

[00:12:52] When you talk about marriage, well, you can make it up to be whatever you want.

[00:12:56] You talk about feelings.

[00:12:58] Well, my feelings are just as valid as your feelings.

[00:13:00] When we get away from God's plumb line and God's standard, then it really becomes what the Bible warned us about that in the last days.

[00:13:11] I think it's happening now that when God is not in the minds and the hearts of people, people will do whatever they want to do.

[00:13:18] The Bible says when Israel did not have a leader, Israel and every man did what was in his own mind.

[00:13:24] We're looking at a world right now that is completely detached from reality, and it knows it, I believe.

[00:13:29] It feels it.

[00:13:30] And yet it doesn't know how to respond to that.

[00:13:32] When someone in your family or somebody you know says, you know, I think I'm questioning my gender.

[00:13:37] We need to give them a loving, biblical response back that is unwaveringly true.

[00:13:44] We're not helping anybody by patting them on the back and saying, well, if you feel it, then I'm good with it or I'm feeling it.

[00:13:51] If we love someone, we're going to tell them the truth lovingly.

[00:13:55] I'm grateful.

[00:13:56] I have good doctors in my life.

[00:13:58] They love me enough to tell me we need to take care of this thing and we need to cut that out because it's going to kill you if we don't.

[00:14:05] That kind of stuff.

[00:14:07] Kirby, we're living at a time right now when if you're watching a politician talk, just mute the TV.

[00:14:13] It doesn't matter what they're saying anymore.

[00:14:15] You know, if you want to get to some truth of who they are, look at their voting record, but don't listen to them talk.

[00:14:21] But the same thing is true.

[00:14:23] You look at the pulpits of America today, you have somebody saying something on Sunday, and then you find that the pastor is involved in some scandalous thing during the week.

[00:14:32] What are we supposed to do?

[00:14:34] Well, number one, God's word is true.

[00:14:36] We need to get back to the Bible.

[00:14:37] It's actually probably in every home in America and start reading the word of God again.

[00:14:44] And that's, I think, the only true answer to uncovering and discovering what's false in our lives because I'm sure of this, Kirby.

[00:14:54] There are falsehoods that are in our lives that we're having to deal with constantly just by virtue of the fact of the world that you and I are living in.

[00:15:01] One way to illustrate this is just recently you were privileged to offer the opening prayer before Congress.

[00:15:09] And I've seen the prayer.

[00:15:11] I've watched it.

[00:15:11] We've talked about it.

[00:15:12] And interestingly enough, it was controversial.

[00:15:15] And it really wouldn't have been 10, 15 years ago.

[00:15:18] But, of course, it's controversial to our atheist friends because you mentioned God.

[00:15:21] How they get upset about mentioning somebody they don't believe in, I do not know.

[00:15:25] But your prayer is something that was so typical to what you would have expected in the opening session of Congress.

[00:15:33] But it became controversial, didn't it?

[00:15:36] It was amazing, Kirby.

[00:15:37] Thank you.

[00:15:38] Yeah.

[00:15:39] Here's the deal.

[00:15:40] I find it actually hilarious that the atheists are upset that I offered up a prayer that didn't meet their liking when in reality, as you said, they don't believe in God.

[00:15:49] So why should they care?

[00:15:51] But the other thing is this.

[00:15:53] That prayer, I was told that certain instructions had to be so many words and it couldn't mention this or that or the other thing.

[00:16:01] Yes.

[00:16:02] And I got to tell you, Kirby, right before I went up there, I wound up just sitting down and I had to repent before God because it was a prayer that was not honest to Scripture.

[00:16:13] It wasn't glorifying to God.

[00:16:16] And it wasn't, listen to this, it wasn't in alignment with our forefathers in the prayers that they offered up.

[00:16:23] I read the prayers of many of our forefathers, our founding fathers.

[00:16:28] And so I changed my prayer before I got to Congress.

[00:16:32] And so when I walked up there and prayed it, I wasn't supposed to mention a name like Jesus Christ.

[00:16:38] I wasn't supposed to say that he died for our sins on the cross, that he's the crucified, resurrected Savior.

[00:16:44] I wasn't supposed to say that.

[00:16:45] And I got to tell you something, Kirby, as soon as I stepped off of the podium there in Congress, I was greeted, hugged and overwhelmed by congressmen and women who said, thank you for breaking the rule.

[00:16:59] Thank you for speaking truth.

[00:17:01] We haven't heard it here in so long.

[00:17:04] Most of the prayers are so God less.

[00:17:08] Yes.

[00:17:09] And so that was a beautiful moment, honestly.

[00:17:12] But again, the badge of honor is it upset the atheist.

[00:17:17] And any time you can upset an atheist, you're having a really good day.

[00:17:21] Let's see if we can also talk about the church, because you have a section there called Amusing the Church to Death, which is kind of a play on words from Neil Postman.

[00:17:29] But it does seem to me and speak to our fellow pastors and even people in the congregation about the fact that there, unfortunately, are a lot of churches where we don't address the word of God.

[00:17:40] We don't take the word of God and apply it to everyday life.

[00:17:44] And Jack, I know you do.

[00:17:45] And I've used your example many times on this program and others of pastors that have been boldly speaking to the issues of the day from a Christian point of view.

[00:17:54] But it does seem to me, as you say, that we have a lot of people that are just getting tickled ears inside church.

[00:18:00] What do you think?

[00:18:02] Yeah.

[00:18:02] Again, another discovery during the covid era was the fact that we as a church back home, we we teach chapter by chapter, verse by verse.

[00:18:12] It's called expositional teaching.

[00:18:14] It was interesting to find out that the churches that taught expositionally had the tendency to stand firm.

[00:18:21] You think of Pastor John MacArthur, for example, stood firm.

[00:18:26] Churches that taught more topical, they were one of the first to fold.

[00:18:32] Not all of them, but most of them were topical teaching type churches.

[00:18:36] Why?

[00:18:37] Why is that something that we observed?

[00:18:40] Because when you teach topically, you have a tendency to teach to someone's felt needs versus let the word of God speak for itself.

[00:18:49] The Holy Spirit is as relevant today as he was on the day of Pentecost.

[00:18:54] And if we get back to the Bible, stick to the Bible.

[00:18:58] Do we really believe that it can speak to God's people?

[00:19:01] And so what I would love to see is an awakening in the pulpits of America where pastors, maybe they're going to do it Kirby against their board.

[00:19:09] Maybe they're going to do it against the committee.

[00:19:12] Maybe their congregation doesn't even want it.

[00:19:14] But they're going to, for example, pick up the Gospel of John and they're going to teach on it chapter by chapter, verse by verse.

[00:19:20] That pastor will experience a revival in this church.

[00:19:24] Some people will leave.

[00:19:25] I believe Charles Spurgeon called those blessed subtractions, but he won't be able to handle the amount of growth because Jesus said,

[00:19:33] my sheep will hear my voice and they'll follow me.

[00:19:36] So we're living at a time, Kirby, obviously, where pastors, I think, are maybe often performing in the pulpit rather than being prophets in the pulpit.

[00:19:47] That's, again, a really serious indictment, but I think it is true as well.

[00:19:51] So let's take a break.

[00:19:52] And when we come back, I want to get into another few aspects of what is being taught or not taught in the church in terms of easy believism and even the whole issue of Israel,

[00:20:02] because that's an issue that we talk about and really in your heart as well.

[00:20:06] But then we want to move on to some of the other very significant sources of deception from education and social media

[00:20:14] and how we can begin to stand firm for biblical principles because there are some very important chapters at the end on being equipped for living in the last days.

[00:20:24] So let's take a break.

[00:20:25] And if you are appreciating this conversation, let me just mention again, the book is entitled Living in the Days of Deception,

[00:20:32] How to Discern Truth from Culture's Lies.

[00:20:35] It is written by Jack Hibbs, forward by Mike Pompeo, about 200 pages, 12 chapters.

[00:20:40] And it is certainly helping us with this issue of discernment.

[00:20:44] But as he just mentioned a minute ago, it's going to take courage as well.

[00:20:48] And as we've mentioned before, a book that we think very highly of, Live Not by Lies,

[00:20:53] A Manual for Christian Dissidence by Rod Dreyer,

[00:20:56] because he points out that a lot of things that are happening in this country look very similar to things that were happening in totalitarian countries on the other side of the world.

[00:21:07] And it's something to begin to stand up and to speak truth in a culture that desperately needs it like never before.

[00:21:15] If you're concerned about the darkness, light some lamps.

[00:21:18] That's what Jack Hibbs has been doing.

[00:21:20] That's what his book is about.

[00:21:21] We'll be back with more right after this.

[00:21:30] It almost seems like we live in a different world from many people in positions of authority.

[00:21:36] They say men can be women and women men.

[00:21:39] People are prosecuted differently or not at all, depending on their politics.

[00:21:45] Criminals are more valued and rewarded than law-abiding citizens.

[00:21:49] It's so overwhelming, so demoralizing.

[00:21:52] You feel like giving up.

[00:21:54] But we can't.

[00:21:55] We shouldn't.

[00:21:56] We must not.

[00:21:57] As Winston Churchill said to Britain in the darkest days of World War II,

[00:22:02] Never give in.

[00:22:03] Never give in.

[00:22:05] Never, never, never.

[00:22:06] Never yield to force.

[00:22:08] Never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.

[00:22:12] And that's what we say to you today.

[00:22:15] This is not a time to give in, but to step up and join Point of View in providing clarity in the chaos.

[00:22:22] We can't do it alone, but together, with God's help, we will overcome the darkness.

[00:22:29] Invest in biblical clarity today at pointofview.net or call 1-800-347-5151.

[00:22:38] pointofview.net and 800-347-5151.

[00:22:47] Point of View will continue after this.

[00:22:57] You are listening to Point of View.

[00:23:02] The opinions expressed on Point of View do not necessarily reflect the views of the management or staff of this station.

[00:23:09] And now, here again, is Kirby Anderson.

[00:23:13] Continue your conversation today with Pastor Jack Hibbs as we talk about living in the days of deception,

[00:23:17] how to discern truth from culture's lies.

[00:23:20] And if you would like to know more about him,

[00:23:22] we have a link on our website at pointofview.net that will take you to real life with Jack Hibbs.

[00:23:27] Also, of course, we have information about the book, which I think you should be able to find in your local bookstore,

[00:23:32] published by our good friends at Harvest House.

[00:23:34] But if you can't, we have it so you can get it in paperback or Kindle.

[00:23:38] And at a time when we have so many different false ideas of saltiness every single day,

[00:23:45] this book is absolutely must-reading for you, and I'm just thrilled that we can do this interview today.

[00:23:50] And Jack, you talked a little bit about the sources of deception,

[00:23:54] progressive education, social media, and the rest.

[00:23:57] Let me just focus on one of those, the media.

[00:23:59] I mean, the average young person today, according to some of the surveys that we've been able to do,

[00:24:03] is on his or her phone at least seven hours a day or more, and that's probably a small number.

[00:24:08] So that adds up to about 50 hours a week.

[00:24:10] 50 hours a week of media input.

[00:24:13] And you've got to counteract that with a one-hour sermon.

[00:24:16] Guess who wins?

[00:24:17] And I think that's why we need to get back into God's Word, maybe disconnect from the world a little bit more,

[00:24:24] and recognize that in these latter days this deception is going to be worse,

[00:24:29] and it could even begin to take away and have Christians fall away from the faith.

[00:24:36] Yeah, well said.

[00:24:37] Wouldn't it be something, Kirby, if that 50 hours a week was 50 hours of screen time reading the Bible

[00:24:43] or reading the Federalist Papers or reading the Constitution or some books on our founders?

[00:24:49] My goodness, that would be something, but that's not the case.

[00:24:51] In fact, your data, probably you found out that the dwell time, they call it,

[00:24:57] the dwell time of these young people on topic is somewhere between 15 to 20 seconds.

[00:25:03] So that's a pretty pathetic thing.

[00:25:05] Why is that pathetic?

[00:25:06] Well, that all plays into the part and the age in which we live in a deception where if you and I glaze over a topic,

[00:25:15] how about this topic, Jesus?

[00:25:17] If you spend 20 seconds learning about Jesus, then you are also inoculated against deeper understandings of Jesus

[00:25:25] because you think you've got some knowledge about him.

[00:25:28] And this is a very dangerous time.

[00:25:30] People want to drop stuff and, well, you know, they say.

[00:25:33] But when you dial down and question what is it that you believe,

[00:25:38] people today are saying things, but they can't defend what it is that they claim to believe.

[00:25:44] And by the way, it goes both ways.

[00:25:46] You ask an atheist, which I'm very fond of doing, why is it that you do not believe in God?

[00:25:53] They'll begin to tell me how much they disapprove of him running the universe.

[00:25:58] Why are there wars?

[00:25:59] Why are there babies born deformed?

[00:26:02] Oh, so, okay, it's not that you don't believe in God.

[00:26:05] It's that you don't like the way things are going.

[00:26:07] And there's an explanation for that.

[00:26:09] Again, it's in the Word of God.

[00:26:10] But you can take that same approach into politics.

[00:26:13] You can take it into religion.

[00:26:15] You can take it into the sciences where there is absolute truth in all of these areas.

[00:26:20] But we live in an age where people don't want truth.

[00:26:25] They actually don't want it.

[00:26:27] They want to live in their reality, which they often create.

[00:26:32] And they establish this reality.

[00:26:35] No matter how far wacko it might be, they'll expect you, Kirby, and me, Jack, to acquiesce or to agree with their assumption that they're living their life by.

[00:26:48] And, again, this is all part of deception.

[00:26:50] But you look at the things that are being talked about in Congress today, for example, or in our capitals, in our nation.

[00:26:58] These are topics that are fundamental to the existence of a country.

[00:27:03] Borders, right?

[00:27:05] The need of people who, if they are foreigners, to assimilate into the culture rather than to bring their foreign culture in and say, this is what you will do with my culture.

[00:27:17] America is an amazing place.

[00:27:19] None of us have American DNA in our blood.

[00:27:22] I'm Portuguese.

[00:27:23] Whatever you are, Kirby, somebody else listening.

[00:27:26] The fact is we choose to be an American.

[00:27:30] Well, what does that mean?

[00:27:31] Well, we go to our founding fathers.

[00:27:33] We go to the Pilgrim Fathers.

[00:27:34] We research what it means to be an American.

[00:27:38] And we have stopped teaching truth so people don't know what the truth is so they make things up.

[00:27:45] Today we tell kids that they're an evolutionary byproduct.

[00:27:49] And then, now, Kirby, I'm going to be a little sarcastic right now.

[00:27:53] We tell kids that they're animals in class and it's the survival of the fittest.

[00:27:59] And then a kid goes out in the streets and acts like it.

[00:28:03] And then we say, this is wrong.

[00:28:06] How can we say that what he's doing is wrong when we told him he's nothing but an animal?

[00:28:11] Well, the truth of the matter is there is a God.

[00:28:14] He gave us the Ten Commandments.

[00:28:16] He gave us Jesus Christ and the resurrected Christ all for a reason.

[00:28:21] And it is incumbent upon everyone listening to find out, why am I alive?

[00:28:28] What's the purpose of the cross?

[00:28:30] Is there a God?

[00:28:31] Is there more to life than what I'm experiencing?

[00:28:34] And what am I going to do about my shame, my guilt, my sin?

[00:28:38] God has given us answers to all of these things and they're waiting to be discovered in his Bible.

[00:28:45] So well said.

[00:28:46] And again, the very significant part of the book is about what's going on in the church.

[00:28:50] But since you were talking about this idea of assumptions, really that's the idea.

[00:28:54] Well, you have your view of truth and I have my view of truth as so-called postmodernism.

[00:28:58] And that kind of gets into another high capital T, not truth but tolerance.

[00:29:03] And you have a whole chapter here on the new tolerance.

[00:29:06] And I know the survey we just did recently of Generation Y and Generation Z, they've redefined tolerance to mean tolerance used to mean that you and I may disagree, but I'll defend your right to hold it.

[00:29:18] Now it means to affirm and to accept any kind of view.

[00:29:23] I kind of call it the princess bride myth.

[00:29:25] You keep using that word, but I don't think it means what you think it means.

[00:29:28] And there is a sense in which, as you talk about, this idea of new tolerance is something we've really got to deal with with our families and in our churches because that is as ubiquitous as that fog you were talking about just a few minutes ago.

[00:29:44] Yeah, absolutely.

[00:29:45] So in this day and age, we have to ask people exactly what you just said.

[00:29:50] We have to ask people when they say, I believe in God.

[00:29:53] We have to stop and ask them, God who?

[00:29:55] Can you tell me about him?

[00:29:56] Yes.

[00:29:56] Well, I believe in tolerance.

[00:29:58] Can you define that, please?

[00:30:00] Because I used to know what Daniel Webster said what tolerance was.

[00:30:04] That's where I disagree with you and you disagree with me, but we respect each other enough as human beings that after we're debating, we can go out and have lunch together.

[00:30:14] That's tolerance.

[00:30:15] Today, you well know, Kirby, that the tolerance in their dictionary is I don't have to listen or agree to a word that you're saying, Jack,

[00:30:23] but you have to listen and obey and accept everything I'm saying.

[00:30:28] And that is not just going to happen.

[00:30:30] It can't happen.

[00:30:32] Humans were not made that way.

[00:30:33] But again, another step towards deception because, Kirby, the fallout is this.

[00:30:39] Whoever shouts the loudest is most often the wrong one in the argument.

[00:30:44] But the shouting has its purpose on our emotions.

[00:30:48] You know, Kirby, you can get 100 letters a day of people praising you for your program,

[00:30:53] and you'll get one letter where somebody's calling you names and how rotten of a host you are and you don't know what you're talking about.

[00:30:59] And by the time you get home at night, that's the only comment you're thinking about is the one that was criticizing you.

[00:31:07] Why?

[00:31:07] Because I believe there's spiritual power behind such thinking.

[00:31:13] And so when we live in a world where it says you've got to tolerate me and here's the reason why, oh, my goodness.

[00:31:18] Well, I guess I better do that because I don't want to be the bad guy here.

[00:31:22] And so if something seemingly as subtle as that, we are succumbing to deception when we fail to stand on the truth as our foundation.

[00:31:33] And, you know, listen, Jesus, I'm still trying to unpack this, Kirby.

[00:31:37] I'm still trying to live up to this.

[00:31:38] Jesus said, if you love me, the world's going to hate you, but don't be disappointed because they hated me long before they hated you.

[00:31:46] So my struggle, Kirby, as a pastor and as a Christian is, Jesus, how can I be the most loving person like you?

[00:31:54] And at the same time, how can I be hated like you?

[00:31:58] I don't want to go out and create an argument.

[00:32:02] But if I'm standing for truth, if I say, for example, we're going to keep our church open during COVID because many people are going to need help in all kinds of ways.

[00:32:13] When, you know, half the church community would say, Pastor, you're going to kill your flock.

[00:32:19] You're going to destroy people.

[00:32:20] And then half the community says, this is exactly what I need.

[00:32:24] I need the word.

[00:32:25] I need fellowship.

[00:32:27] That's going to generate both love and hate.

[00:32:29] But as long as you're standing on the truth of God and living the word, it doesn't matter what people say.

[00:32:35] Because at the end, we're going to stand before one final judge.

[00:32:38] In fact, I prayed that prayer in Congress this other day, reminding all of them that they will stand before the judge of the universe for the decisions they make in that house.

[00:32:48] And people don't want to hear that.

[00:32:50] But again, they don't want to hear it because they've been deceived into thinking that there's no repercussions or there's nothing to answer to in the end.

[00:32:58] And that's not true.

[00:33:00] Let's take a break.

[00:33:01] When we come back, we'll talk a little bit more about this idea of being dazed by the deception of the world,

[00:33:06] in which we're being deceived by those managing information and erasing history and even obscuring medical data.

[00:33:13] And then talk about equipped for the last days.

[00:33:16] And if you just joined us talking with Pastor Jack Hibbs about his new book, Living in the Days of Deception,

[00:33:23] How to Discern Truth from Culture's Lies at a time when we're really assaulted with more falsehoods and deception than ever.

[00:33:30] I think we need to be able to know how to stand strong and to actually begin to speak the truth in love.

[00:33:38] We'll be back right after this.

[00:33:40] You're listening to Point of View, your listener-supported source for truth.

[00:34:01] We're privileged to have for a few more minutes Jack Hibbs.

[00:34:03] Again, the book is entitled Living in the Days of Deception.

[00:34:07] I thought we would talk about being equipped for the last days.

[00:34:10] But for just a minute, Jack, let's, if we can, talk about the imminent return of Jesus Christ.

[00:34:14] Because I just heard the other day that they are going to take one of Charles Ryrie's writings on imminency and republish it.

[00:34:22] And you're going to do the forward to that.

[00:34:24] And I was thrilled to hear about that.

[00:34:26] Yeah, I was actually thrilled to hear about it myself.

[00:34:29] Been a longtime fan of Dr. Ryrie, not because he was a great theologian,

[00:34:35] but because of his ability to simply let the Bible interpret the Bible.

[00:34:40] His honor for the Word of God was incredible.

[00:34:42] So, yes, a lot of people in this day and age in which we live in,

[00:34:46] they've not grown up in churches and or a theology that teaches the full counsel of God in the sense,

[00:34:54] I mean, where there are scriptures that tell us that we need to be ready at all times.

[00:35:00] We need to make sure, so to speak, as the parable says, that oil and our lamps are not running out.

[00:35:06] Then there are some clear scriptures that indicate that there is a generation that will not see death.

[00:35:12] The Lord will come, 1 Thessalonians 4 and John 14, verse 1, where there will be a sudden interruption,

[00:35:19] where there will be those in 1 Corinthians 15, they will not see death, but will be transfigured.

[00:35:25] And, of course, in Latin, we refer to that word as rapture.

[00:35:30] In Greek, it's harpazo.

[00:35:32] But then you've got the generations where there will be believers who come to faith during the tribulation time.

[00:35:39] John said a number of people came out of the great tribulation, a number so great nobody could count.

[00:35:46] But I do believe, because the Bible teaches it, that there's the doctrine of eminency,

[00:35:51] meaning that Christ could come for his church.

[00:35:54] And when I say the word come, Kirby, it's very important we make a distinction.

[00:35:59] Technically, in what's known as eschatological terms or theology,

[00:36:03] there's the first coming of Christ and the second coming of Christ.

[00:36:07] The first coming and the second coming have all these things in common.

[00:36:12] Christ comes to Israel.

[00:36:13] Christ comes to the Temple Mount.

[00:36:16] Christ comes presenting himself as king.

[00:36:18] And Christ comes announcing that he's Israel's deliverer.

[00:36:23] In between those two events, there is not a coming.

[00:36:27] There's an appearing.

[00:36:28] He will appear in the atmosphere.

[00:36:30] He will call up those who are living.

[00:36:35] And those that died believing in him will be resurrected.

[00:36:38] That is referred to as the rapture.

[00:36:41] Thus, the doctrine of eminency for 2,000 years has been this.

[00:36:46] Jesus said, watch, you don't know when, be ready.

[00:36:51] And so because that's true, we have a church that is extremely – I know this is going to sound strange,

[00:36:57] but it's just the way it is.

[00:36:59] We have a church that believes that Jesus Christ could come back tomorrow in Southern California.

[00:37:05] But because of that, we're super involved in the school board.

[00:37:08] We're super involved in elections.

[00:37:10] We're super involved in education because we want to be caught when he comes being busy about our father's business.

[00:37:18] We're not sitting around letting everything go down the tubes.

[00:37:22] We are fighting the good fight.

[00:37:25] We're standing for righteousness, and we're extremely engaging church.

[00:37:30] Why are we doing that?

[00:37:32] Because Christ could come at any time.

[00:37:33] And our motive is we want to make sure that we are doing righteousness when he returns.

[00:37:41] Again, I'm holding up the book by Charles Ryrie on the rapture just because I thought that would be of interest for those of you watching.

[00:37:47] But, you know, you have a section where you talk about the Antichrist,

[00:37:50] a hundred different passages dealing with the person of the Antichrist.

[00:37:53] So, of course, quite a bit about the end times.

[00:37:56] And yet, Jack, you know as well as I do that a lot of churches say and a lot of pastors say,

[00:38:00] I'm not going to preach on that prophecy stuff, even though there's so much in the Bible there.

[00:38:04] As a matter of fact, what is it, 27% of the Bible when written was prophetic in nature.

[00:38:09] And when you say, I'm not going to talk about prophecy, first of all, you're missing an opportunity for evangelism.

[00:38:14] But second of all, you're cutting out a very significant part of the scriptures.

[00:38:19] Well, Kirby, again, thank you, brother.

[00:38:21] That's awesome.

[00:38:21] You're exactly correct.

[00:38:24] The amount is, as you said, 27% on the minimum.

[00:38:27] The maximum, some scholars say, up to 33% of the Bible is prophetic.

[00:38:31] It doesn't matter.

[00:38:32] Let's just say it's a quarter.

[00:38:33] Let's say a quarter of the Bible is prophetic in nature.

[00:38:37] Imagine going, looking for a church, and in the advertisement on the website it said,

[00:38:41] we teach three quarters of the Bible.

[00:38:44] Nope.

[00:38:45] Yeah, exactly.

[00:38:46] Come visit us.

[00:38:47] We teach 75% of the Bible.

[00:38:49] There's no way.

[00:38:49] And isn't it interesting that Jesus, it says of Jesus in Revelation chapter 19, verse 10,

[00:38:55] that Jesus Christ himself is the spirit of prophecy.

[00:38:59] And then I'll end with this punch.

[00:39:02] All other religions of all other times known to man, including the cults of today, none of them can prophesy correctly.

[00:39:12] None of them have.

[00:39:13] Thus, they're called false prophets.

[00:39:15] The Bible is the only book from Genesis to Revelation that when it makes a statement of prophetic nature, you can test it and see.

[00:39:24] So here's what's fun.

[00:39:27] The prophecies that have been fulfilled in the Bible thus far have all been fulfilled literally, which causes us to believe that the remaining prophecies to be fulfilled will be fulfilled literally.

[00:39:40] There will be a nation of Israel.

[00:39:42] There is.

[00:39:43] There will be anti-Semitism on a global scale.

[00:39:46] There is.

[00:39:47] And there will be an apostate church of apathy in the last days.

[00:39:51] And there is.

[00:39:53] And again, it just fits very well with your book, Living in the Days of Deception.

[00:39:57] Just before I let you go, and I know it's been a very busy time in which you've been promoting the book and will continue to do so,

[00:40:03] we do have a link to jackhibbs.com.

[00:40:06] And there's a place where people can watch real-life TV, listen to real-life radio, read real-life devotions, and, of course, listen to your real-life podcast.

[00:40:16] But talk about what's available because as people dip into this book, as they begin to read it, as they maybe have a small group study or maybe pastors preach from it,

[00:40:26] I suspect you have some other resources on your website that people can go to to supplement some of the material in your book.

[00:40:33] Yeah, Kirby, you're 100% correct.

[00:40:35] jackhibbs.com is just a one-stop shop where you can branch out into all these areas that you mentioned.

[00:40:41] And one of the great things to all of your listeners right now, they can go to their app provider, and it's free, real-life network.

[00:40:50] The real-life network.

[00:40:51] It's a free downloadable app, and it's free for the subscriber, and it's free for the broadcaster.

[00:40:58] It's 24-7, 365, Christian material of sermons, character-building programs of all types.

[00:41:07] And the beautiful thing about it is, again, it's free, and it cannot be canceled.

[00:41:11] We established this during COVID because we got canceled so much, and that turned around to be a great blessing.

[00:41:17] So jackhibbs.com, or you can get the downloadable app of our 24-7 programming real-life network.

[00:41:25] I have all the links that you need here.

[00:41:27] Of course, we have the one to his Facebook page, Proclaiming Biblical Truth, Equipping the Saints, Impacting the Culture.

[00:41:33] Of course, we have the information about jackhibbs.com, and, of course, the link to the app.

[00:41:38] But most importantly, I'm going to hold up the book for those of you watching online,

[00:41:41] Living in the Days, D-A-Z-E, Days of Deception, How to Discern Truth from Culture's Lies.

[00:41:48] And, again, it is written by Pastor Jack Hibbs, forwarded by Mike Pompeo, endorsed by all sorts of individuals,

[00:41:54] and a book that really will help you as you try to navigate in the midst of all the falsehoods that assault us in the world.

[00:42:02] So, Jack Hibbs, thank you so very much for the ministry that you have,

[00:42:05] and thank you for spending some time today with us on Point of View.

[00:42:09] Kirby, thank you so very much.

[00:42:11] We are going to take a break, and when we come back, obviously, we will get into some other topics.

[00:42:15] But let me just mention that this book is available.

[00:42:18] It is published by our friends at Harvest House,

[00:42:20] and it is a book that goes into a number of chapters on deception.

[00:42:26] If you found yourself saying you didn't cover all of them, well, of course not.

[00:42:29] We only had one hour, and it would take a couple of hours to go through the 12 chapters in any kind of detail.

[00:42:36] So let me encourage you to get a copy of the book.

[00:42:39] You should be able to find it in your local bookstore.

[00:42:41] It shouldn't be a difficulty at all.

[00:42:43] But if you have any difficulty, it is available right now in paperback and Kindle,

[00:42:48] and I believe they're going to be having an audio version coming out in the future.

[00:42:52] It would be something that you can study.

[00:42:54] It's something you can use for a small group and pastors.

[00:42:56] I think you could preach much of it from the pulpit.

[00:42:59] Let's take a break, though.

[00:43:00] We have a lot more to cover.

[00:43:01] We'll do that right after this.

[00:43:11] At Point of View, we believe there is power in prayer,

[00:43:15] and that is why we have relaunched our Pray for America campaign,

[00:43:20] a series of weekly emails to unite Americans in prayer for our nation.

[00:43:26] Imagine if hundreds of thousands of Americans started praying intentionally together on a weekly basis.

[00:43:35] You can help make that a reality by subscribing to our Pray for America emails.

[00:43:41] Just go to pointofview.net and click on the Pray for America banner that's right there on the homepage.

[00:43:49] Each week you'll receive a brief news update, a specific prayer guide,

[00:43:55] and a free resource to equip you in further action.

[00:43:59] We encourage you to not only pray with us each week,

[00:44:03] but to share these prayers and the resources with others in your life.

[00:44:08] Join the movement today.

[00:44:09] Visit pointofview.net and click on the banner Pray for America right there at the top.

[00:44:17] That's pointofview.net.

[00:44:20] Let's pray together for God to make a difference in our land.

[00:44:27] Point of View will continue after this.
