For the second hour Kerby welcomes back attorney and prayer leader Phillip Jauregui. Phillip brings us an update from the Prayer event to consecrate the opening of the United States Supreme Court’s 2026-2027 term and asking for God’s mercy and justice to prevail in our Nation, and they’ll discuss the ongoing prayers for our highest court.

[00:00:05] Across America, Live, this is Point of View, Kerby Anderson. Second hour today, let me just again welcome to those of us that and those of you that have been listening to Point of View for the last hour.
[00:00:28] We wanted again say welcome to the listeners of W-O-A-Y 860 AM in Oak Hill, West Virginia. Again, want to thank you for joining with us and if you've been listening to Point of View, I hope you'll continue listening because we are certainly going to be talking about not only the election but the importance of prayer this hour. And so again, welcome you to the lineup of the Point of View stations carrying this program.
[00:00:52] And we now go to our good friend, Phillip Jaregi, who is again the head of the Judicial Action Group. He is a lawyer, a prayer leader, founder of this Judicial Action Group. We have a couple of websites for you to follow. If you go to our website, pointofview.net, one about the group itself, one about the webcast. And also we want to spend some time talking about how they have the third annual national consecration of our courts,
[00:01:21] which took place at the Museum of the Bible. But Phillip, as always, welcome back to Point of View. Yeah, thank you very much, Kirby. It's great to be with you. Let's see if we can talk about what you did at the Museum of the Bible. That was October 4th and 5th. And we, of course, are at a time when most people are talking about the election, which is tomorrow. But I also am paying attention to the fact, as we have talked about, with two different groups, Alliance Defending Freedom and First Liberty Institute,
[00:01:50] they have some very important cases coming before the Supreme Court. And you really had an opportunity there to pray over the court and at least pray over at least one justice. Can you tell us some more? Sure. Yeah. So we had communion at the court Sunday night at sundown, which was very special. We had probably 150, 200 people. And it was an incredible time, powerful communion at the court and praying for the Supreme Court.
[00:02:19] The next day we met at the Museum of the Bible and had a day gathering from 9 a.m. to 1 that was prayers for all nine justices and then three additional topics. And then that night we came back and had a dinner gathering. And that was powerful as well. We had Dutch seats who gave our keynote. And then our other keynote was Judge James Ho, who's a judge from Texas. He's on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
[00:02:47] And he's somebody that we've researched and think he would be a great future Supreme Court justice. So we were really honored that Judge Ho came. And that was a powerful talk by him as well. People were blown away. We've talked about Judge James Ho before. As a matter of fact, my former producer, Steve Miller, was talking to him. Well, actually, we were just talking about his son and then realized, wait a minute, this is Judge Ho that we've been talking about.
[00:03:12] So he is no longer my producer, but actually at the Cambridge Christian School, but actually has Judge Ho's son, I believe it is. And got a chance to interact with him as well. We think very highly of him and we'd love to have him on the court. But I guess that's in the future. And this brings us to really the concern. We have some very important cases before the Supreme Court. We have a very important election taking place tomorrow.
[00:03:37] And I think we'd be remiss if we didn't have you and Dutch Sheets and others talk about how important it is to pray for this nation. Can you share that with us? It is. And the second item you talked about, Kirby, the elections are really important too. I don't want to miss that. But hopefully we can come back to that.
[00:03:58] But, yeah, just in terms of praying for the court, I know people are very, as they should be, very focused on the elections and praying for the elections. And one thing that we focus on, Kirby, is we, you know, every Friday we have a prayer gathering for two hours. And we just say, guys, we're going to focus on the court. There's a lot that we can talk about across the world. But somebody needs to come every week, every day, and just pray for the Supreme Court and keep praying for the court.
[00:04:28] And so that's what we do. And we could look at, you know, an individual decision a time or two that we don't like or maybe we don't understand it even. But overall, the arc of the Supreme Court over the last two years, five years, ten years, if they were a prodigal son, I would say they're on their way home. So they're not there yet, but we're making incredible progress and we need to stay with it. Well, again, we've talked about the prodigal courts and all of that.
[00:04:57] But let me just real quickly mention, since we did talk about what happened at the Museum of the Bible, if you go to our website and you'll see the picture of Philip there, click the second button there and it takes you to the weekly prayer webcast. But what you have there is both the morning program and the evening program. And, of course, there's where you can see Judge Ho and some others. So if you have the time, you can actually participate and see how this was such a significant event.
[00:05:26] So I do want you to take the time to go to the website. And, of course, you can always just go to the website. It's really easy. J-A-G-F. J-A-G-F, which again stands for the Judicial Action Group. And you can find out more about their foundation, about those resources, and really, in a sense, sign up to be praying for the court. We, of course, have our Pray for America that Liberty McCarter puts together.
[00:05:54] But I think, in particular, we have some very important cases before the Supreme Court. We have some great judges and justices that are on the federal judiciary. And, of course, justices on the Supreme Court. And I think we, even if we are good at praying for the president and Congress, and I'm not sure how many Christians are good at that, but let's give credit, at least partially for those who do, we almost always tend to forget about praying for the court.
[00:06:20] And that's one of the reasons why I'm so grateful that you can come on the program and talk about it. Yeah, thank you, Kirby. And when we talk about cases, there's one in particular that I'd like to highlight for folks, if that's okay? Sure. Sure. So, there's a case. Some people may be familiar with the Ten Commandments case out of Texas. There was a Texas statute that passed that said that the Ten Commandments had to be posted in public school classrooms.
[00:06:46] As you might imagine, the left sued that they don't want the Ten Commandments in the classrooms. We lost the case at the district court. We won it at the Fifth Circuit, but the left has now appealed that case or filed what's called a cert petition asking the U.S. Supreme Court to look at it. The defendants in that case, the pro-Ten Commandments side, will be responding to the Supreme Court here next week.
[00:07:14] And I'm hoping that the U.S. Supreme Court takes that case, Kirby, because a lot of times you think, well, we already won it below. We don't need the court to take it. But this case for me is about so much more than just whether the Ten Commandments can be posted. It's an opportunity for the court to repair the breach in our national relationship with God that the court created 65 years ago.
[00:07:42] So I think it's incredibly significant for that reason. So this is the case that we're praying about. Interestingly, the defendant in the case is Alamo Heights, which for me has a lot of significance when you think about the Alamo. Yes. But this is a huge case we're praying about. Well, let's see if we can take a break. When we come back, I want to get into a little bit more detail because some of you may be familiar that back in 1980, you had a case called Stone v. Graham, which said in Kentucky you could not post the Ten Commandments in the classroom.
[00:08:12] As I understand, Phil, I don't think they ever took the Ten Commandments down. But nevertheless, that was, like you said, a breach. And it really gets into your book, The Prodigal Court. So I want to talk about that after the break. And, of course, if you would like to join us, we certainly do want to encourage you to pray for this nation, to pray for the court, to pray for the future of this republic. But also I'd love to get your comments as we've been getting ready for the election tomorrow.
[00:08:39] We'll be talking about the results of it on Wednesday. And, of course, we're talking today about the importance of praying for this nation. So let's take a break. We'll come back with more right after this. This is Viewpoints with Kirby Anderson. Tomorrow is the election.
[00:09:08] You may have already voted like tens of millions of Americans. But if you haven't voted, I encourage you to vote because your vote might make the difference. And even if you've already voted, you might know people who aren't planning to vote because they believe their vote won't make any difference. In the past, many groups circulated articles and emails talking about the importance of one vote. In the last few elections, we haven't needed those reminders because some of the elections in the last few decades provide numerous illustrations. Over the years, I've collected some stories of elections that resulted in a tie. You can't get any closer than that.
[00:09:38] Consider the story of Penny Pullen in Illinois. A number of years ago, it appeared that she lost a primary election by 31 votes. However, there were many irregularities in the ballots. So, Judge Frances Bart concluded that the election was a draw and ordered a coin toss. She lost the election on a coin toss. Later, she found out that many members of her church hadn't bothered to vote in the primary election and that could have made a crucial difference. Now, in 2006, there was an even more interesting story of an electoral tie.
[00:10:07] William Crawford and Gene Miller both received an identical number of votes in an election in Ohio. But William Crawford was especially upset. You might ask why. Well, it turned out that his two sons failed to vote that day. His son Jim lives across the street from him. His other son Andy is a college student who lives at home with him. Neither took time to go to the polls. So, would the outcome of these elections be different if a few people in Penny Pullen's church had bothered to vote?
[00:10:34] Or if either William Crawford's sons had bothered to vote? Does one vote count? Just ask Penny Pullen or William Crawford. I'm Kirby Anderson and that's my Point of View. Go deeper on topics like you just heard by visiting pointofview.net. That's pointofview.net. You're listening to Point of View.
[00:11:03] Your listener supported source for truth. Philip Jeregi with us if you would like to join the conversation. 1-800-351-1212. Again, founder of the Judicial Action Group, but also author of the book, The Parable of the Prodigal Court. Your invitation to shift a nation back to God. And in some respects, Philip, that is the issue because for a lot of people, well, pull the Ten Commandments out. I can still have Ten Commandments in my home.
[00:11:29] But when you no longer officially acknowledge the Ten Commandments, first of all, you probably would need to tear down some things at the Supreme Court and all sorts of other particular items that are all over Washington, D.C. But in some respects, it talks about, and it gets back to the comment you made just a minute ago about the breach. Can you explain that? Right. Sure. Sure.
[00:11:55] So I like to kind of step back and just help us all to realize this is not just another political issue. It's not even a question of what's being displayed in a classroom or not. But to realize that there is a God in heaven. He is a real God in heaven. He predates the creation of the world. He predates the Declaration of Independence.
[00:12:21] Our Declaration even says that he's the one that gave us our rights at creation. He's the one that gave us the right to even create a new nation. And it was miraculous what God did to allow this nation to be born 250 years ago. And so you kind of step back and you say, okay, he's a real God. We're a real nation. There's a relationship. You see this throughout Scripture between God and people groups and nations.
[00:12:49] And when he gifted us the ability to create this nation, and then in 1962 we breached that relationship with him, you know, what did that say to a God in heaven? And how did it impact the direction that this nation went in? And it was tragic. It was tragic to the heart of God, and it was tragic to our future and what's happened in the last 65 years.
[00:13:15] And so I just, I believe I know that if this nation will get it right by reconnecting this branch to the vine of God, that everything that we're dealing with downstream can be dealt with. But if we don't reconnect with God, then all these problems that we're having, I don't think we're going to solve them. And again, I think it just brings us back to the fact that there are spiritual consequences and spiritual issues associated with that.
[00:13:43] And so while we certainly do want to get people involved in the political process, we also recognize that some of the real issues we're dealing with today are cultural and spiritual issues, which are not going to be solved in Washington, D.C. or Austin, Texas or Tallahassee, Florida, Springfield, Illinois, wherever it might be.
[00:14:04] These are issues that we need to marshal spiritual forces, and that's certainly what the prayer event that you put together on a regular basis is all about. Yep, and I would say it's both, Kirby. It's not just prayer. We need to be involved in Washington and Tallahassee and all over. We need to go vote tomorrow. We'll talk about that.
[00:14:27] But if all we're doing is voting and trying to address these things without also returning to God, then we have a problem. So I think it's both. I think so. Well, and I'm not disagreeing. And since you did mention the election, I think there are some real prayer targets for tomorrow's election, don't you think? I do. I do. And, you know, the obvious are out there.
[00:14:48] But I would remind people, too, that, you know, President Trump, unless the left were to impeach him, which that's not going to happen, or impeach him, but he's going to be there for another two years. But what we don't know is he's going to hold the majority of the Senate. And when it comes to the U.S. Supreme Court, that is massively important because, of course, there are two steps to that, to every federal judge. But in particular, the U.S. Supreme Court, that even though the president nominates, the Senate by a majority has to confirm.
[00:15:18] And right now we're sitting at 53 Republicans. But really two of those Republicans are very unreliable. And so it puts us down close to 51, maybe 50. And so the balance of the Senate matters not just for the business of the Senate, but what happens on the federal courts. Every Article III federal judge, from California to New York to Texas to Florida, every one of those go from the president through the Senate.
[00:15:47] So the importance of the Senate should be seen when people go to the polls tomorrow. Well, again, this is one of those issues that we need to put before the American people to recognize that sometimes during the midterm, well, what difference does it make? Well, it makes a difference in terms of who's in the Senate. And as we had Jeff Matera on Friday, he said, look, I think if the Democrats control the Senate, I'm not sure you're going to fill any of the vacancies in the federal judiciary,
[00:16:13] because none of the ones that Trump would want to put forward would be ones that would actually be ratified. And I don't know that he would want to compromise, although that was a concern that some people raised about trying to get something done. We could be in a real crisis very quickly, couldn't we? You're right. You're absolutely right. And if I were advising President Trump, I mean, God forbid we're not going to have Democrats in control of the Senate.
[00:16:41] But if you look at the polls, it's a possibility for sure. But then that puts the president in a position, I mean, does anyone out there want him compromising with somebody that he puts on the U.S. Supreme Court where he has to compromise and get permission from Chuck Schumer and the Democrats? I mean, that's a disaster. We can't have that. So everybody listening, Kirby, you guys need to go vote tomorrow. Take 10 of your friends. Make sure every one of them get there. I have to travel tomorrow, Kirby.
[00:17:11] I booked my flight late on purpose because I'm going to vote, and everybody needs to go vote. It's like God has given us this gift of a nation. You have the ability to impact who's going to be your ruler. Get to the polls, folks. Well, again, one of the things I've said is we already have in round numbers about 75 million perhaps that have voted, but another 50 million that will vote tomorrow. But don't let a plane flight or weather or anything else keep you from going to the polls.
[00:17:39] Of course, anybody that's heard my commentary, which I have been running today on about 600 radio stations, just to remind you how close some of these poll votes are. I have used two examples of tie votes, but that is certainly the case. When we come back from the break, though, I thought we might just talk about this. I've heard you on other interviews talking about are we ever going to get to the point where we'll see another great awakening?
[00:18:04] And it reminds me of a piece I have coming out next week about is this a Jonah moment or a Nahum moment? Because if you remember, Jonah, of course, preached to the city of Nineveh, which was this capital of Assyria. Of course, he didn't get there right away. He had to wail the tail to show when he showed up. But again, in the midst of that preaching, the king arose. He removed his robe. He covered himself in sackcloth and ashes, sent out a decree to the people, and God spared the city.
[00:18:34] And for almost 150 years, Nineveh continued. But then you come to Nahum. And is it a Jonah moment or a Nahum moment? Because Nahum then produces and pronounces a woe upon Nineveh.
[00:19:07] So I thought we might come back in just a minute and really talk about what's the future. I mean, it's possible that God is done with this country. It's also possible that God would want to have a great revival in this country. And I know you've been speaking to that issue for some time. So let's take a break. But just before we do so, let me mention that if you wanted information on some of the things we're talking about, posted a very good piece by Charles Cook on Democrats are coming,
[00:19:37] one which kind of gives you a handicap of some of the Senate races, some of the ballot measures to watch. And, of course, I talked a little bit about the Minance hack, the largest robbery in American history. And then, of course, we have a very good piece, which we've posted as well, by the Judicial Action Group, how to pray for a Supreme Court case. And, of course, one of the cases we are talking about is this idea of the Ten Commandments.
[00:20:05] Again, you need four justices to take a case, five to win. And if you find yourself saying, well, I'd like to know a little bit more about this judicial action group, we have a link to, again, JAGF.org. It talks a little bit more about that. There's a way you can sign up for some of that information. And all of it is available at our website. But you might also scroll down. And if you have somebody that says, you know, I don't really need to vote,
[00:20:32] you might send them my piece today on close elections because I tell you the story of two individuals, one that I broadcasted for with many years at the Moody Broadcasting Network, Penny Pullen, who lost in a tie vote, and also tell you the story of William Crawford. Both the stories are pretty interesting because she didn't have people in her church vote for her, so she lost. William Crawford, even worse, had two sons who didn't vote for him, and he lost.
[00:20:59] And so I think it's just a great reminder of the fact that, indeed, every vote counts. So let's take a break. When we come back, I know Philip's got some comments to maybe help us perceive what we can do in terms of could we have another great awakening in America? We certainly need it in light of some of the things we've been talking about today, so we'll come back and get some perspective from him right after these important messages.
[00:21:32] It almost seems like we live in a different world from many people in positions of authority. They say men can be women and women men. People are prosecuted differently or not at all depending on their politics. Criminals are more valued and rewarded than law-abiding citizens. It's so overwhelming, so demoralizing. You feel like giving up, but we can't. We shouldn't. We must not.
[00:22:00] As Winston Churchill said to Britain in the darkest days of World War II, never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy. And that's what we say to you today. This is not a time to give in, but to step up and join Point of View in providing clarity in the chaos.
[00:22:25] We can't do it alone, but together, with God's help, we will overcome the darkness. Invest in biblical clarity today at pointofview.net or call 1-800-347-5151. Point of View will continue after this.
[00:22:54] You are listening to Point of View. The opinions expressed on Point of View do not necessarily reflect the views of the management or staff of this station. And now, here again, is Kirby Anderson. Back once again, final half hour, if you'd like to join the conversation, 1-800-351-1212.
[00:23:21] Philip Jeregi with us as we are talking about the Judicial Action Group. But I thought we might, Philip, for just a few minutes, just talk about revival, the Great Awakenings, some things that have happened in the past, because I think there are going to be some people that Wednesday are going to be very discouraged and wonder if that's the end of America. God does not need the United States of America, but God has used individuals here in America to advance the gospel.
[00:23:46] And I have said many times, you've heard other people say that when Jesus returns, he's not going to return on Air Force One. He's not going to return riding an elephant or a donkey. That is an issue that we need to maybe remove from our mindset, because I think in some respects, I've seen in the history of some of the Great Awakenings and revivals, sometimes it's darkest before the light shines. What are your thoughts? I agree.
[00:24:15] And, Kirby, the time from COVID up through the election in 2024, for me, were some of the darkest times. Well, they were undoubtedly the darkest times I've ever seen. They were scary. I mean, I was a lawyer working on cases. I had friends who were charged with crimes. I mean, the left was trying to put them in prison. They were trying to put president. These were dark, dark times.
[00:24:41] But I look back now at the persecution and the revival that was happening, and in many ways still is. But I look back at what God did during those times. It was in spite of the evil or because evil was pressing in. People were pressing into God. And it was wonderful. And so I don't want to return to those times of persecution.
[00:25:05] But I'm saying, even if it comes to that, we need to not fear the left. We need to not fear the devil. As Jesus said, fear your Father in heaven. He's perfect. And so I'm just not afraid, Kirby. I would rather win the election. But if we don't, let's just love Jesus and see what happens. Well, I think so. And you've probably been a student of history, I certainly have, of looking at the First Great Awakening, Jonathan Edwards and George Whitefield.
[00:25:34] Second Great Awakening, which gave us everything from things like Moody Bible Institute and the Salvation Army and the abolition. And really some of the great social movements came out of those revivals. If indeed we say, yes, we've been able to overturn Roe versus Wade. But guess what? We probably have more abortions now, chemical abortions, than we had before.
[00:25:59] We certainly are talking about the strengthening the American family. But yet the family's divided. We've redefined what it means to be a marriage, sometimes redefined what it means to be gender. There are some very significant things that could happen spiritually that I don't think we're going to ever accomplish politically. And so I think this is why all the more we should be praying for a revival, don't you think?
[00:26:28] I agree. I agree. And week before last, my wife and I pulled up again the movie Great Awakening. This is, you know, came out, I guess, within the last year. But we watched it again. That's the third time I've watched it, Kirby. And I've told friends, I said, go watch it again. I mean, it just moved me. It's such a powerful movie, and it's such a message for us today, and the necessity of a revival. And, you know, people forget, too.
[00:26:57] I didn't realize this until recently, but George Whitefield, he was not even in favor of the revolution. But yet his preaching is what God used to inspire the revolution. And so changing a people, turning back to God is the answer. And, Kirby, if I can, I want to share a scripture from Revelation that's really been on my heart lately on this topic. Sure. This is the first letter that was written, and it was to the church at Ephesus.
[00:27:27] And it said, this is the word, God speaking to the church at Ephesus. And he said, and guys, I want you to think about America as you hear this letter and how this then can instruct us on what we need to do right now. So he says, I know your work, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. We're experiencing a lot of that right now, Kirby. A lot of us can't stand the evil that we see. This is the church at Ephesus.
[00:27:57] But then the Lord said to them, and you've tested those who say they are apostles and they're not and have found them to be liars. And you've persevered and have patience and have labored for my namesake and have not become weary. And I think those are your listeners, Kirby. Those are our people, right? But then the word says, nevertheless, I have this against you.
[00:28:25] You have left your first love. Remember, therefore, from where you've fallen, repent and do the first works. And as I was reading that, Kirby, I really felt like the Lord was reminding me, even for us in America, that, you know, if there's a key, it's one word, love. To love God like we did when we were first born again. To not be ashamed of him. To stand for him, but not just to stand for him, to love him.
[00:28:55] That if we do that as a nation, that's the key to seeing this nation turn back to God. Again, I love that film. And, again, you learned a lot more about George Whitefield than I think most people know in terms of his acting background and what he came through and all the rest. And so that certainly shows you perseverance.
[00:29:13] I might also recommend for anybody that wants to go to the movie theaters right now, our good friends at Sight and Sound have taken the latest production that they've done on, again, Joshua. And that one really is all about learning to trust God. And so, again, it's been, I think, something that I've appreciated. Our good friends at Sight and Sound, both in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and Branson, Missouri, put on these shows.
[00:29:40] But then for people that can't go to those, they can actually watch those in the theater. Plus, they've produced all sorts of theatrical events. But, again, both the film that you're talking about and the one I just mentioned, talk about perseverance, talk about trust. And I think it's going to help us get back to first principles because it does seem to me that when there is a down economy, and I'm really wondering what's going to happen on Wednesday in the stock market after what happens Tuesday night. But we'll see.
[00:30:09] And when we get into a situation where there's maybe some difficulty, or even, again, I've got one of my commentaries next week coming out about debanking, which, fortunately, right now you've had the Office of the Comptroller of Currency actually issuing a report about debanking. But when you can debank the former president of the United States, you can debank individuals in Silicon Valley.
[00:30:34] When you can persecute people, and in some cases prosecute people, I'm hoping that we aren't going to go into such a dark time. But as you pointed out, sometimes the gospel flourishes in the midst of some of those dark periods of history. And that's certainly what we may be headed towards in the next couple of days. Yes, I think, you know, we'll see. I know there's all sorts of news out there.
[00:31:00] We'll know a lot, you know, 48 hours from now. But as we talked about earlier, Kirby, our eternal future is secure. And our job here on earth is to follow God and to love him and to trust him. And so whatever happens, the good news is, guys, we're going to heaven, and we have the ability to vote tomorrow to impact what's going to happen.
[00:31:26] And then regardless, we just keep serving Jesus like we did from 2020 to 2024 when it was incredibly dark. Let me just, before we take a break, talk about, as people go to your website, all the things that they can benefit from. Because you, first of all, of course, have the intercessory prayer material. You have a whole thing about judicial nominations, accountability.
[00:31:49] You have a judicial prayer briefing and also an opportunity for people to even sign up for your newsletter. So just before we take a break, I want people during the break to go to your website, JAGF.org, or just click on the link. And when they do so, what are they signing up for and what can they benefit from by certainly joining up with your newsletter?
[00:32:12] Well, all those resources that you mentioned, Kirby, but then it's, your timing is excellent because I'm reviewing our next prayer report informing people how to pray for the Supreme Court in cases. And that will come out, gosh, if I can get it done this afternoon, if not in the morning. But they need to sign up quickly, Kirby, so they can get that new prayer report. That sounds pretty good. So, again, I would encourage you as you go to the break here, we're going to take one more break and we'll come back and get some final comments from Phillip.
[00:32:41] There is a couple of links. And first of all, one that you can follow will just take you to the organization itself. The second one, which I just mentioned, actually is the weekly prayer webcast. But there you can actually see the events we've been talking about. I think it would be really encouraging for you to kind of see how this all came together. There's the morning program. There's the evening program. And then there are all sorts of other resources. Plus, there's the podcast. You can get the latest episode or two.
[00:33:09] And that is certainly the case. And so if you found yourself saying, I'll be honest with you, I really don't pray for the Supreme Court. I would imagine if I were to ask you to even mention or name the nine Supreme Court justices. Very few of you could do so. So maybe we need to turn that around. So there's a great way to learn about some of that. And so we are going to go to a break. And when we come back, we'll talk about a couple other resources that you might want to take advantage of just before we wind down the program today.
[00:33:38] As we've all been saying more than once, make sure you vote tomorrow if you haven't already voted. We'll be right back. You're listening to Point of View, your listener-supported source for truth.
[00:34:03] After a few more minutes, but, Phillip, I wanted to give you some final comments here because there are some ways in which people can be motivated to pray. And, again, we have a National Day of Prayer. But I think we need more than one prayer a year. And it seems to me that one of the things, and I really thank Libby Ferguson for first putting you in contact with me, because we certainly can benefit from the kind of work that you have been doing for some time,
[00:34:30] some of the other organizations you've been working with there in Washington, D.C., and elsewhere, to develop this judicial action group. And I just really encourage people that have a church that has a prayer minister or has a prayer function to connect up with you so that we are praying for the nation all the time, in particular praying for these very important decisions coming down from the Supreme Court. Yeah, thank you, Kirby. And Libby is wonderful.
[00:34:58] She's been our event coordinator for the last two National Consecration of Our Courts gatherings that we've had. But I wanted to mention, too, you know, we do talk a lot about prayer. It's a huge focus for us. But I describe our work as two wings of an American eagle. There's one wing is represented by spiritual activism, prayer, but the other is governmental activism. And the other wing of JAG is JAG Action, which does lobbying.
[00:35:28] And we're constantly researching future Supreme Court prospects. And we have a green list of six prospects that we've picked out of nearly 40 that we've researched. We also have a red list of four that we've looked at that have been promoted by some friends that are allies, I should say, that we think they're not good prospects. And we detail why that is.
[00:35:53] So this is the other part, the hardcore research, you know, looking in, doing in-depth legal research and legal memoranda. You know, sadly, when Supreme Court seats come open, you'll hear talk about who people think is good, but you see very little research. And so what we like to do is create these research reports, you know, an average of 12 pages, 84 footnotes, over 100 data points, to say this is important. These people are going to be on the court for over a generation.
[00:36:22] Let's do the work and get it right. And that's another huge part of what we do, Kirby. And it's a very good, important part of it as well. I know that First Liberty does some of that, and you do that, Federalist and others. And anybody that thinks we don't need that, let me just use two words, David Souter. There you go. And two more words, Anthony Kennedy. I mean, there are sadly lots of things. Well, I know. The list is a long one, sadly.
[00:36:46] And it's a very sad list of individuals that got put on the court, and we thought that they would do a good job. By the way, Anthony Kennedy, I think he was the third choice. Three times is not a charm, as we found out there as well. But nevertheless, it's just a good example of individuals sometimes that get put on the court. Harry Blackman's another one. You can go, I mean, I can go through the long list, so can you. Yeah. And it's just about time that we do the work that we should have been doing in the first place.
[00:37:13] So my saluting to you what you do, not only in terms of mobilizing prayer, but also really doing all that we can to vet individuals who are going to have such a lifetime appointment and make such an impact in either a positive or negative way on the republic. So I certainly appreciate all that you do, and certainly appreciate you joining us today here on Point of View. Well, it's been my honor, you know, being on with you and your listeners.
[00:37:41] It really is a tremendous honor, a great opportunity to get the word out. And I would just tell folks, you care about the first two branches of government. That's Congress and the presidency. When it comes to the third branch, that's where we focus. And so if you want to partner with a group that can help you with the third branch, you know, sign up. As Kirby has said, you can go to our website, JAGF.org, and we'd love to partner with you.
[00:38:07] Again, you might get a copy of the book, too, The Parable of the Prodigal Court, which is written by Philip as well. And, Philip, as always, thank you for being with us today here on Point of View. Thank you, Kirby. And, hey, let's go vote tomorrow. Let's go vote. Let me real quickly say that if you are running into some people that say, well, I'm not sure my vote really counts. Again, my commentary today is about two Thai votes. But let me give you a couple others just for that.
[00:38:33] Let those of us that are old remember 2000 when we had a presidential race between George W. Bush and Al Gore, which essentially was decided by 537 votes in the state of Florida because of the anomalies and those kinds of things. But I can give you some others. 2016, an incumbent Republican senator lost by just 1,000 votes. In 2020, a Republican challenger beat an incumbent Democrat by 109 votes. Then it gets even more amazing.
[00:39:02] In 2020, a Republican won a House seat by just six votes. 2024, a Republican member of Congress, a congressman, lost by 187 votes. And in 2026, already we had an incumbent state senator survive a primary challenge by three votes. And, of course, as we talked about the other day with Debbie Wolf now, one of the most dramatic ones happened in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
[00:39:32] Because in 2017, there was a real issue about who would control the Virginia House of Delegates. And it came down to a single tied race. We talked about that one, which is a little different, because after the recounts and court hearings, they confirmed that it was a tie. So they drill it out of a bowl, if you can believe that.
[00:39:57] And the Republicans retain control of the chamber after the Republican candidate's name was drawn from the bowl. Literally, that shows the difference one vote can make. I may use that one in the future, but it's certainly the case. Now, you might say, well, we already vote. No, we don't. These are the numbers that our good friend Gary Bauer put together. If you look at individuals who self-identify as atheists, what percentage of them vote?
[00:40:28] 90 percent. Isn't that amazing? Okay. What about those who have religious commitments? Well, again, as they've looked at the Muslim vote, and it's a smaller percentage, I will admit. Muslims in this country, a lot of them are located in places like Michigan, Florida, some in Texas, other places. But, again, the percentage, pretty close to 80 percent.
[00:40:53] And if you haven't heard us mention it before, Christians barely pass 50 percent in terms of voting. So there are opportunities for you to vote, but I would imagine most of the listeners, to the point of view, probably already have voted or plan on voting. The real question you need to ask yourself is, can I get some other people to vote tomorrow?
[00:41:17] And the opportunities are going to diminish if, indeed, they aren't encouraged to vote. If, in some cases, you maybe say, I'd be glad to drive you to the poll so you can vote, that's, I think, going to be the big issue. So, again, there are some great resources we've made available to you today. One that looked at some of these midterm Senate races. That comes from Forbes.
[00:41:42] We have a very good piece that came from our friends, the Wall Street Journal, Ballot Measures to Watch on Tuesday. And we certainly are going to get into some of these other issues tomorrow during Election Day. But take the time to find some of the resources that we've made available to you on the website at pointofview.net.
[00:42:04] And, of course, my viewpoints commentary, which is nothing else a reminder that sometimes the elections are so close it ends in a tie. And I use two examples of individuals that I've known, but, of course, you can also use the one from the Commonwealth of Virginia and recognize that one vote really does make a difference. All sorts of great resources. We will certainly come back here tomorrow and get into it in more detail.
[00:42:30] Wednesday, we'll have Gary Bauer and probably some other people join us as we talk about what has taken place. And we hope that you take the time to visit the website pointofview.net. I also will give you a link, of course, to the Judicial Action Group, all of it available at pointofview.net. As always, I want to thank Megan for making it in, catching that airplane, getting here on time, and engineering the program. Derek, thank you for producing the program. Take the time to vote.
[00:42:58] Take the time to visit the website pointofview.net. And we'll see you back here tomorrow right here on Point of View. At Point of View, we believe there is power in prayer. And that is why we have relaunched our Pray for America campaign,
