[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Kirby, thanks so much for having me.

[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_01]: You know one of the things I appreciate it is that you dedicated the book to three individuals,

[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Dr. Ed Hyneson, Dr. Mark Hitchcock and Dr. Tommy Ice.

[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_01]: All three have been on the program along with you.

[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And so in some respects as people will listen to this conversation today

[00:02:24] [SPEAKER_01]: and think, well maybe that's your opinion.

[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_01]: You actually are quoting not only from them but from other people then on the program

[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_01]: like Dr. Randall Price and others.

[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_01]: So it isn't this is like some kind of unique interpretation of Matthew 24.

[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_01]: It has been what has kind of been the historical understanding.

[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think it also sets aside something I'd love to get your comments about

[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_01]: because we have had other people talk about this

[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_01]: and I don't know that I've ever talked about it with you

[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_01]: but I do notice more and more churches don't talk about prophecy.

[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_01]: More and more pastors don't talk about prophecy.

[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_01]: And if my estimate is correct, it looks like about 27% of the Bible when written

[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_01]: was prophetic in nature at the time when it was written.

[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_01]: What are your thoughts?

[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Well that's correct.

[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah there's estimates anywhere from 26th up into the low 30s

[00:03:13] [SPEAKER_00]: of percentage of the Bible that was prophetic when it was written.

[00:03:16] [SPEAKER_00]: And what's very interesting about that is that you have prophecy

[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_00]: and literally almost every book of the New Testament

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_00]: that God in this written revelation to us with a book called Revelation

[00:03:27] [SPEAKER_00]: that is some 95% prophetic.

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_00]: And so certainly God wants his people to be informed.

[00:03:33] [SPEAKER_00]: He wants us to know what's going to happen with the heads up on history.

[00:03:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Really is what prophecy is.

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_00]: And you know those scholars you just mentioned they're obviously friends of mine

[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_00]: but at the same time men who I greatly respect

[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_00]: and who are greatly respected out in the community of theology and eschatology

[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_00]: and pastorate and that type of thing.

[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah it's an important subject and like you said because Christ himself

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_00]: spoke about it in the last week of his life.

[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's if we can just give people an overview.

[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_01]: The first part is who is Jesus of Nazareth.

[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll just spend a minute on that.

[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_01]: But then a whole section on what did Jesus prophesy.

[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_01]: And again for those of you that are looking for alliteration

[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_01]: we're going to talk about destroyed and deceived and despised

[00:04:13] [SPEAKER_01]: and declared and desecrated all the way down

[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_01]: then when will these take place?

[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_01]: How should we as believers prepare?

[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_01]: How will it all end?

[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_01]: And how to escape the coming apocalypse.

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_01]: The way you've written this obviously

[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's similar to many of your other books Jeff

[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_01]: is that you could take this book and hand it to someone

[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_01]: who is maybe not a believer, maybe at least a seeker

[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_01]: and they start out and say okay I'll see.

[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Everybody wants Jesus on their team.

[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Everybody kind of wants to know what Jesus has to say

[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_01]: and so you spend the first part of this section

[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_01]: just explaining who Jesus is

[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's a great refresh your course for believers

[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_01]: but I think it also is just a great entry point

[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_01]: for non-believers isn't it?

[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely, I wrote the book in some ways as an apologetic

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_00]: because today so many people across the world

[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_00]: secular scientists from global leaders

[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_00]: are talking about extinction events

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_00]: they're talking about the end of the world

[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_00]: they're talking about the apocalypse

[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_00]: and so here we have Christ's words on here

[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_00]: so I really ask the question who is this Jesus of Nazareth

[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_00]: and why should we trust his version of end times events

[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_00]: because in truth if what he says about the end times

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_00]: about himself is true then everything he says

[00:05:28] [SPEAKER_00]: is going to be true as well.

[00:05:30] [SPEAKER_00]: So it's not just something we should just skip over

[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_00]: but it really is a foundation for the book

[00:05:34] [SPEAKER_00]: as to why Jesus is qualified to speak on this subject.

[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Again those of us that actually have had a course

[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_01]: in a Bible college or seminary

[00:05:44] [SPEAKER_01]: oftentimes we refer to Matthew 24

[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_01]: and following is the Olivet Discourse

[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_01]: because it's at the Mount of Olives

[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_01]: but one of the things I appreciated about this

[00:05:52] [SPEAKER_01]: is you start with Matthew 24 verses 1 and 2

[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_01]: before he gives that message

[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_01]: because it also reminds us that Jerusalem will be destroyed

[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_01]: and I think it also relates Jeff to this idea of prophecy

[00:06:06] [SPEAKER_01]: if we can see that prophecies that Jesus gave

[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_01]: that have been fulfilled in the past

[00:06:13] [SPEAKER_01]: I think we can have the assurance that prophecies

[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_01]: that haven't been fulfilled will be fulfilled in the future

[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_01]: and here you see certainly of course

[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_01]: you find more of that in the Gospel of Mark

[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_01]: which you have some individuals

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_01]: who are coming and looking at this incredibly ornate

[00:06:29] [SPEAKER_01]: and beautiful temple

[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_01]: and Jesus says look at it now

[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_01]: because pretty soon it will not be here

[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_01]: and that is one of those prophecies that Jesus gives

[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_01]: even before he gives that discourse

[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_01]: so again that's an important aspect

[00:06:43] [SPEAKER_01]: of how to interpret these prophecies isn't it?

[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_00]: It is and it really sets the stage for the rest of Matthew 24

[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_00]: because some 35 or so years, 38 years after this

[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_00]: event took place the temple was destroyed

[00:06:58] [SPEAKER_00]: precisely and exactly as Christ prophesied

[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_00]: in fact if you go to Jerusalem today

[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_00]: you can see on the side of the Temple Mount

[00:07:05] [SPEAKER_00]: many of those stones are still there from the 1st century

[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_00]: in 70 AD

[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_00]: so yeah it really does set the stage

[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_00]: again gives Jesus more credibility

[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_00]: because what he first said was going to come true

[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_00]: actually did come to pass

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_00]: now we're looking at these other future prophecies

[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_00]: and we can look at those and say well

[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_00]: the first one was literally fulfilled

[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_00]: exactly as prophesied

[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_00]: then we have every reason to believe

[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_00]: that the other ones will be as well

[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's take a break and when we come back

[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_01]: when will all of this take place

[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_01]: can we get some ideas about that

[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_01]: at least the general season

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_01]: in which it might take place

[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_01]: and then of course by the time we're done

[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_01]: I want to talk about how

[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_01]: we as believers can prepare for this

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_01]: and for those of you that are listening in

[00:08:36] [SPEAKER_01]: and say well I've never really

[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_01]: taken seriously Bible prophecy

[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_01]: what does that mean for me and what can I do

[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_01]: so we'll talk about that with Jeff Kinley

[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_01]: all that coming up right after this

[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_02]: this is Viewpoints with Kirby Anderson

[00:09:04] [SPEAKER_01]: you only get one chance to make a good first impression

[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Americans were trying to get a first impression

[00:09:09] [SPEAKER_01]: of Kamala Harris before the Democratic National Convention

[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_01]: yes they knew something about her as vice president

[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_01]: but now she was running for president

[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_01]: her first decision about personnel

[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_01]: for her future administration was to pick

[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Governor Tim Walz as her vice presidential running mate

[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_01]: he is one of the most liberal governors

[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_01]: or senators she could have picked

[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_01]: her first policy statement was a speech

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_01]: on price gouging given Friday

[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_01]: before the convention

[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_01]: her solution was price controls

[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_01]: the headline of the Washington Post op-ed was

[00:09:37] [SPEAKER_01]: when your opponent calls you communist

[00:09:39] [SPEAKER_01]: maybe don't propose price controls

[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_01]: on radio I suggested she might want to

[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_01]: give her speech in the original Russian

[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_01]: because price controls were a failure

[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_01]: in the Soviet Union, in Venezuela

[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_01]: and even in the US when president

[00:09:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Richard Nixon tried it decades ago

[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_01]: giving more authority to the Federal Trade Commission

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_01]: to punish grocery companies who charged too much

[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_01]: won't solve the problem of high prices

[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I suspect the speech was more about trying to

[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_01]: placate the base and appeal to swing voters

[00:10:06] [SPEAKER_01]: by showing that she cares about people

[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_01]: price controls won't happen but this is a teachable moment

[00:10:11] [SPEAKER_01]: why are price controls a bad idea?

[00:10:14] [SPEAKER_01]: first they distort the market

[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_01]: the aforementioned op-ed explained

[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_01]: that it would lead to shortages

[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_01]: black markets and hoarding among other distortions

[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_01]: second it is hard to find price gouging as the problem

[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_01]: last year profit margins in the grocery industry

[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_01]: were at a low of 1.6%

[00:10:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Kamal Harris was trying to remove one of her liabilities

[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_01]: before she sat down for interviews

[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_01]: inflation is a problem

[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_01]: but price controls aren't the solution

[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm Kirby Anderson and that's my point of view

[00:11:22] [SPEAKER_01]: not info slash Israel

[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I might even call it a tsunami of deception

[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_01]: because some people say why do you believe

[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_01]: we're in the end times

[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_01]: well obviously we're closer than ever before

[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_01]: but in some respects you recognize

[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_01]: that certainly there were tools for deception

[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_01]: in the first century

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_01]: but the tools for deception in the 21st century

[00:11:48] [SPEAKER_01]: are even more significant

[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_01]: and how many times over the last couple of years

[00:11:54] [SPEAKER_01]: where I've talked about deception

[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_01]: the need for us to have discernment

[00:11:58] [SPEAKER_01]: the use of all sorts of new media technologies

[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_01]: to deceive individuals

[00:12:04] [SPEAKER_01]: and so Jesus looking ahead to the future

[00:12:07] [SPEAKER_01]: reminds disciples at that time

[00:12:10] [SPEAKER_01]: and now us today

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_01]: to not be deceived because there will be so much

[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_01]: that might even deceive us into

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_01]: no longer believing in him

[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_01]: or believing in his coming

[00:12:22] [SPEAKER_00]: well it's true and deception is certainly

[00:12:25] [SPEAKER_00]: a huge component of a Jesus end times scenario

[00:12:28] [SPEAKER_00]: and like you said essentially that's how he begins

[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_00]: to talk about the apocalypse is that

[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_00]: there's going to be a lot of crisis in that day

[00:12:36] [SPEAKER_00]: a lot of chaos, a lot of confusion

[00:12:38] [SPEAKER_00]: of course anytime that we talk about the future

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_00]: people obviously have a lot of unknowns

[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_00]: out there there's a lot of anxiety

[00:12:44] [SPEAKER_00]: so Jesus said look many are going to come in my name

[00:12:47] [SPEAKER_00]: they're going to say I'm the Christ

[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_00]: I've got the answer for you

[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_00]: and it says they will succeed in this leading many

[00:12:53] [SPEAKER_00]: and of course we know from Scripture Kirby that that one person

[00:12:56] [SPEAKER_00]: is going to really take the bull by the horns

[00:12:59] [SPEAKER_00]: if you will is going to be the anti-crime

[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_00]: he's going to be the ultimate deceiver

[00:13:02] [SPEAKER_00]: he's going to be empowered and energized by Satan himself

[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_00]: and he's going to tell lies just like Satan does

[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_00]: and so that deception is coming

[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_00]: and we're certainly experiencing a lot of that right now in our world

[00:13:14] [SPEAKER_01]: One of the other signs is wars and rumors of wars

[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_01]: and you remind us that over the 3400 years

[00:13:21] [SPEAKER_01]: that we have of any kind of recorded history

[00:13:23] [SPEAKER_01]: there's only been about 268 years in which you could say

[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_01]: the world was at peace

[00:13:29] [SPEAKER_01]: so I've always had wars

[00:13:31] [SPEAKER_01]: but these wars are different because you talk about

[00:13:35] [SPEAKER_01]: for example nuclear weapons

[00:13:37] [SPEAKER_01]: and I do have a booklet that we've made available

[00:13:39] [SPEAKER_01]: to our donors in the past on the whole idea of war

[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_01]: and then we have a more recent one out on nuclear war

[00:13:46] [SPEAKER_01]: and so in some respects

[00:13:48] [SPEAKER_01]: that is another very poignant illustration

[00:13:51] [SPEAKER_01]: that yes we've had wars

[00:13:53] [SPEAKER_01]: but the possible devastation from war

[00:13:56] [SPEAKER_01]: now in the 21st century

[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_01]: is something that is completely unprecedented isn't it?

[00:14:05] [SPEAKER_00]: We're at Syracuse we know from a fulfilled prophecy

[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_00]: that Israel has to be a nation

[00:14:10] [SPEAKER_00]: for these things to take place

[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_00]: and so obviously along these wars

[00:14:13] [SPEAKER_00]: involve Israel, the Middle East, that type of thing

[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_00]: and there's going to be famines and earthquakes

[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_00]: and Jesus said this is just the beginning

[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_00]: and of course Jesus' narrative here

[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_00]: parallels perfectly Revelation chapter 6

[00:14:26] [SPEAKER_00]: and the wars that are going to take place

[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_00]: during the first part of the tribulation

[00:14:30] [SPEAKER_00]: so we think we've seen wars now

[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_00]: but the wars that are coming Kirby

[00:14:34] [SPEAKER_00]: are going to be wars that are going to unsettle

[00:14:35] [SPEAKER_00]: the entire planet

[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_00]: so it's going to really bring more and more chaos

[00:14:39] [SPEAKER_00]: which brings antichrist into a more suitable position

[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_00]: to be able to deceive the masses.

[00:14:45] [SPEAKER_01]: One of the other ones of course is the idea

[00:14:47] [SPEAKER_01]: that believers will be despised.

[00:14:49] [SPEAKER_01]: He says they will deliver you up to tribulation

[00:14:52] [SPEAKER_01]: put you to death of course

[00:14:53] [SPEAKER_01]: that was a warning for the disciples then

[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_01]: but I think it also looks ahead

[00:14:58] [SPEAKER_01]: to another warning of a greater apocalypse

[00:15:01] [SPEAKER_01]: that is going to come in the future.

[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely and again Revelation chapter 6

[00:15:07] [SPEAKER_00]: prophesies that there will be a large number

[00:15:10] [SPEAKER_00]: of baby Christians if you will

[00:15:12] [SPEAKER_00]: during the tribulation that will lose their lives

[00:15:14] [SPEAKER_00]: they will already be martyred right at the beginning.

[00:15:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Of course many of those I believe will be Jews

[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Jews who have come to faith in Messiah

[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_00]: and there's going to be anti-Semitism

[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_00]: is bad right now

[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_00]: but Satan's going to launch another holocaust

[00:15:28] [SPEAKER_00]: on the Jewish people and on Christians

[00:15:30] [SPEAKER_00]: during that day so yeah there's going to be

[00:15:33] [SPEAKER_00]: lots of murder lots of bloodshed

[00:15:35] [SPEAKER_00]: on those who come to Christ during that time.

[00:15:37] [SPEAKER_01]: But the good news is the gospel will be declared

[00:15:39] [SPEAKER_01]: and that is an invocation

[00:15:42] [SPEAKER_01]: that the gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed

[00:15:44] [SPEAKER_01]: throughout the whole world as a testimony

[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_01]: to all nations and then the end will come

[00:15:49] [SPEAKER_01]: but then you raise a good question

[00:15:51] [SPEAKER_01]: which gospel because that gets us into

[00:15:53] [SPEAKER_01]: some of the warnings about false gospel

[00:15:56] [SPEAKER_01]: false teaching the Antichrist and the rest

[00:15:59] [SPEAKER_01]: and so a lot of what Jesus is talking about

[00:16:04] [SPEAKER_01]: in more detail in the book of Revelation don't we?

[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_00]: We really do and what's very interesting

[00:16:09] [SPEAKER_00]: about that is that when you look at the

[00:16:11] [SPEAKER_00]: whole period of the seven-year tribulation

[00:16:13] [SPEAKER_00]: you've got kingdoms of the world plural

[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_00]: becoming one kingdom under Antichrist

[00:16:18] [SPEAKER_00]: and in the book of Revelation God proclaims

[00:16:22] [SPEAKER_00]: that that kingdom is going to fall

[00:16:23] [SPEAKER_00]: and another kingdom is coming into place

[00:16:26] [SPEAKER_00]: so part of the gospel message throughout

[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_00]: the tribulation is look this kingdom

[00:16:31] [SPEAKER_00]: of Antichrist is a false kingdom

[00:16:33] [SPEAKER_00]: it's the Titanic it's going to hit that iceberg

[00:16:35] [SPEAKER_00]: but another kingdom is going to come

[00:16:37] [SPEAKER_00]: as prophesied by Daniel by Jesus

[00:16:39] [SPEAKER_00]: by Revelation that is going to supplant

[00:16:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Antichrist kingdom it's going to be a kingdom

[00:16:44] [SPEAKER_00]: that will never end.

[00:16:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Again you have chapters on the temple

[00:16:48] [SPEAKER_01]: will be desecrated and of course

[00:16:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Antichrist will display miracles

[00:16:51] [SPEAKER_01]: but talk about that first issue first

[00:16:54] [SPEAKER_01]: of the idea of the temple

[00:16:55] [SPEAKER_01]: because a lot of people say well

[00:16:57] [SPEAKER_01]: you know you've been predicting

[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_01]: the end of the world you've been predicting

[00:17:01] [SPEAKER_01]: that Christ will come again

[00:17:03] [SPEAKER_01]: but I think one of those issues

[00:17:05] [SPEAKER_01]: is would the Jews be in the land

[00:17:07] [SPEAKER_01]: 1948 is it possible

[00:17:10] [SPEAKER_01]: a temple could be built

[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_01]: because there's no temple there right now

[00:17:14] [SPEAKER_01]: so what can we think about

[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_01]: and how can we maybe put some of that together

[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_01]: in terms of when the temple would exist

[00:17:22] [SPEAKER_01]: when it would be built

[00:17:23] [SPEAKER_01]: and then of course whether the Antichrist

[00:17:26] [SPEAKER_01]: would then eventually there would be a desecration

[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_01]: of that and display miracles

[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_01]: can you kind of play that out for us

[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_01]: for a few minutes?

[00:17:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah it's a bold prophecy that Christ makes here

[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_00]: because in verse 2 he says

[00:17:37] [SPEAKER_00]: the temple is going to be destroyed

[00:17:38] [SPEAKER_00]: and then over here in verse 15 he says

[00:17:40] [SPEAKER_00]: in the future and the far future

[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_00]: in the last days there will be another temple

[00:17:45] [SPEAKER_00]: because you can't desecrate a temple that doesn't exist

[00:17:47] [SPEAKER_00]: and 2nd Vesselonian chapter 2

[00:17:49] [SPEAKER_00]: tells us that Antichrist

[00:17:51] [SPEAKER_00]: at the midpoint of the tribulation

[00:17:52] [SPEAKER_00]: will enter the Jewish temple proclaim himself to be God

[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_00]: and essentially desecrate that temple

[00:17:58] [SPEAKER_00]: I say well what evidence is there now

[00:18:00] [SPEAKER_00]: that that temple could be built?

[00:18:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Well you've got the temple institute

[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_00]: founded in 1987

[00:18:04] [SPEAKER_00]: whose express purpose is to rebuild

[00:18:07] [SPEAKER_00]: the Jewish temple on the temple mount

[00:18:09] [SPEAKER_00]: at the point where they believe

[00:18:12] [SPEAKER_00]: the original temple stood there

[00:18:14] [SPEAKER_00]: they've already fashioned priestly garments

[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_00]: they've done sacrifices

[00:18:17] [SPEAKER_00]: they've drawn up blueprints

[00:18:18] [SPEAKER_00]: they trained over 500 priests

[00:18:20] [SPEAKER_00]: they're just waiting for that real estate

[00:18:23] [SPEAKER_00]: to become available to them to do that

[00:18:25] [SPEAKER_00]: so Christ is going out on the limb if you will

[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_00]: he's saying look there's going to be

[00:18:29] [SPEAKER_00]: another temple and here we are in our day

[00:18:31] [SPEAKER_00]: we're seeing these Orthodox Jews pushing hard

[00:18:33] [SPEAKER_00]: for that temple to be built

[00:18:35] [SPEAKER_01]: What I think is so helpful

[00:18:36] [SPEAKER_01]: is you're taking us through the chapter 24

[00:18:40] [SPEAKER_01]: of Matthew

[00:18:40] [SPEAKER_01]: and then you're giving us of course

[00:18:42] [SPEAKER_01]: cross references as you did just a minute ago

[00:18:45] [SPEAKER_01]: to the writing that Paul did

[00:18:47] [SPEAKER_01]: to 2nd Vesselonians too

[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_01]: and other passages

[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_01]: and so for a person that sometimes

[00:18:52] [SPEAKER_01]: is struggling with how to put that all together

[00:18:54] [SPEAKER_01]: if you even just use the timeline

[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_01]: in Matthew 24

[00:18:58] [SPEAKER_01]: you obviously get a more expanded timeline

[00:19:02] [SPEAKER_01]: in a little bit in Daniel

[00:19:04] [SPEAKER_01]: but mostly in the book of Revelation

[00:19:06] [SPEAKER_01]: and it seems to me that it's a good way

[00:19:08] [SPEAKER_01]: to begin to develop that

[00:19:10] [SPEAKER_01]: and early on I think you even talk about

[00:19:12] [SPEAKER_01]: the fact that one of the things we seem to be missing today

[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_01]: is just any of our critical

[00:19:16] [SPEAKER_01]: theories, our critical ability

[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_01]: to critical thinking, skills, logic and the rest

[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_01]: really what you're doing is providing us

[00:19:24] [SPEAKER_01]: a timeline, providing us an outline

[00:19:26] [SPEAKER_01]: and then if you just use a little bit of critical thinking

[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_01]: and do a couple of cross references

[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_01]: you really end up with this whole idea

[00:19:35] [SPEAKER_01]: of end time scenario don't you?

[00:19:37] [SPEAKER_00]: We do and God is obviously the master storyteller

[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_00]: and Jesus puts it all in chronological order for us

[00:19:43] [SPEAKER_00]: and it's great because it's like

[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_00]: a movie to take Kirby where you'll have a scene

[00:19:48] [SPEAKER_00]: all of a sudden it'll switch to another scene

[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_00]: that actually helps inform

[00:19:51] [SPEAKER_00]: the scene you've just watched

[00:19:53] [SPEAKER_00]: and that's exactly what cross referencing does

[00:19:55] [SPEAKER_00]: in the Scripture back to Daniel

[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_00]: over to Revelation, over to 1st and 2nd Thessalonians

[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_00]: it all fits into this beautiful puzzle

[00:20:02] [SPEAKER_00]: that God has created and given us

[00:20:04] [SPEAKER_00]: just end times scenario.

[00:20:05] [SPEAKER_00]: But as you say, it does require a little digging

[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_00]: a little bit of cross referencing

[00:20:08] [SPEAKER_00]: and that's why we call it Bible study

[00:20:10] [SPEAKER_00]: instead of just Bible moving.

[00:20:12] [SPEAKER_01]: We come back from the break, we're going to talk about

[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_01]: of course then the Son of Man will descend from heaven

[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_01]: but you're probably thinking okay

[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_01]: because he helps us understand

[00:20:35] [SPEAKER_01]: some aspects of the Jewish people

[00:20:37] [SPEAKER_01]: some aspects of the fact that this will be

[00:20:40] [SPEAKER_01]: sort of like the days of Noah

[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_01]: and a number of other factors

[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_01]: that will help us understand that

[00:20:46] [SPEAKER_01]: and so then we'll move from there

[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_01]: to even then okay how should we prepare

[00:20:51] [SPEAKER_01]: and for those of you that maybe have never

[00:20:54] [SPEAKER_01]: experienced a Christian conviction

[00:20:56] [SPEAKER_01]: maybe never trusted in Jesus Christ

[00:20:58] [SPEAKER_01]: what does that mean for you

[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_01]: and what can you do to avoid

[00:21:01] [SPEAKER_01]: what I think is unfolding before our very eyes

[00:21:05] [SPEAKER_01]: but again there is I think

[00:21:07] [SPEAKER_01]: a real need for us to look at

[00:21:09] [SPEAKER_01]: some of these end times scenarios

[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_01]: and this book I think you will find very helpful

[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_01]: because it looks at the end of the world

[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_01]: the second part of his book

[00:23:23] [SPEAKER_01]: What Did Jesus Prophecy?

[00:23:26] [SPEAKER_01]: going to finish off by talking about

[00:23:27] [SPEAKER_01]: the idea of the Son of Man will descend from heaven

[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_01]: and then move into this idea

[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_01]: this very important question

[00:23:34] [SPEAKER_01]: that we all have one time or another

[00:23:37] [SPEAKER_01]: wondered about

[00:23:37] [SPEAKER_01]: does Jesus give us any indication

[00:23:40] [SPEAKER_01]: of when this would take place

[00:23:42] [SPEAKER_01]: and then we can obviously move into

[00:23:45] [SPEAKER_01]: some other parts of that chapter 24

[00:23:47] [SPEAKER_01]: and then into chapter 25

[00:23:49] [SPEAKER_01]: in how we can prepare

[00:23:51] [SPEAKER_01]: but the first issue is

[00:23:53] [SPEAKER_01]: is that we have this whole section

[00:23:55] [SPEAKER_01]: in which it talks about the coming

[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_01]: of the Son of Man

[00:23:58] [SPEAKER_01]: and I would say Jeff anybody that has

[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_01]: perhaps watched the chosen recently

[00:24:03] [SPEAKER_01]: you can see that there's a couple

[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_01]: times when if Jesus

[00:24:07] [SPEAKER_01]: refers to himself as the Son of Man

[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_01]: which to us seems kind of generic

[00:24:13] [SPEAKER_01]: that is as they might say

[00:24:15] [SPEAKER_01]: in the South fighting words

[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_01]: and that's what also gets him

[00:24:18] [SPEAKER_01]: in such trouble because

[00:24:20] [SPEAKER_01]: that is an illusion back

[00:24:23] [SPEAKER_01]: to the Son of God

[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_01]: or the Son of Man

[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's a direct claim to deity

[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_01]: but it also is the description

[00:24:32] [SPEAKER_01]: of what it will be like when Jesus returns

[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_01]: can you help us out with that?

[00:24:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely in fact the Son of Man

[00:24:39] [SPEAKER_00]: was Christ's favorite name

[00:24:41] [SPEAKER_00]: He gave himself and He uses it some of the

[00:24:43] [SPEAKER_00]: 81 times in the Gospels

[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_00]: and so yeah it refers back to

[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_00]: the one that is described as deity

[00:24:50] [SPEAKER_00]: in the Old Testament, the one that's going to sit

[00:24:51] [SPEAKER_00]: on David's throne.

[00:24:53] [SPEAKER_00]: It's the one that the Jews would have recognized

[00:24:55] [SPEAKER_00]: as his claim to deity

[00:24:57] [SPEAKER_00]: that would have been his

[00:24:59] [SPEAKER_00]: really his best claim to deity

[00:25:01] [SPEAKER_00]: for using that phrase. What's very interesting

[00:25:03] [SPEAKER_00]: is that the disciples had asked Jesus

[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Lord when will these things take place

[00:25:08] [SPEAKER_00]: and throughout the entire

[00:25:09] [SPEAKER_00]: apocalyptic discourse here

[00:25:11] [SPEAKER_00]: he doesn't really tell them when

[00:25:12] [SPEAKER_00]: what the sign is going to be until we get to verse

[00:25:15] [SPEAKER_00]: 29 and 30

[00:25:17] [SPEAKER_00]: then he says then the sign

[00:25:19] [SPEAKER_00]: of the Son of Man will appear

[00:25:20] [SPEAKER_00]: and that scene there, Kirby in verses 29 through 31

[00:25:24] [SPEAKER_00]: is perhaps

[00:25:25] [SPEAKER_00]: the most dramatic

[00:25:27] [SPEAKER_00]: description of the second coming

[00:25:29] [SPEAKER_00]: anywhere in the Bible

[00:25:31] [SPEAKER_00]: with perhaps the exception of Revelation 19

[00:25:33] [SPEAKER_00]: but it's a contrast

[00:25:35] [SPEAKER_00]: between darkness and light

[00:25:37] [SPEAKER_00]: between evil and glory

[00:25:39] [SPEAKER_00]: and when that sign happens

[00:25:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Jesus says that's when you'll know

[00:25:43] [SPEAKER_00]: the end of the age

[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_01]: has come. Well again you talk

[00:25:47] [SPEAKER_01]: about the fact he comes is the

[00:25:49] [SPEAKER_01]: conquering Christ

[00:25:50] [SPEAKER_01]: recently we had Max Locato because he's written about this

[00:25:53] [SPEAKER_01]: as well and he says you know a lot of people

[00:25:55] [SPEAKER_01]: tend to think of Jesus as the baby

[00:25:57] [SPEAKER_01]: in the manger or Jesus

[00:25:59] [SPEAKER_01]: is the one who is saying

[00:26:01] [SPEAKER_01]: go the extra mile

[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_01]: but this is not an individual

[00:26:05] [SPEAKER_01]: that comes to take sides

[00:26:07] [SPEAKER_01]: this is a person who comes to take over

[00:26:09] [SPEAKER_01]: and so that really is

[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I think a very dramatic scene

[00:26:13] [SPEAKER_01]: and in some respects

[00:26:15] [SPEAKER_01]: you go with a long list

[00:26:17] [SPEAKER_01]: of the fact that when you talk about

[00:26:19] [SPEAKER_01]: his kingdom he was originally at the creation

[00:26:21] [SPEAKER_01]: he was certainly foretold

[00:26:23] [SPEAKER_01]: in the Old Testament prophesied

[00:26:25] [SPEAKER_01]: to David proclaimed

[00:26:27] [SPEAKER_01]: to Mary on and on and on you go through this

[00:26:29] [SPEAKER_01]: very long reminder of

[00:26:31] [SPEAKER_01]: who he is but since

[00:26:33] [SPEAKER_01]: that is one of the signs

[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_01]: it brings us to another couple of signs

[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_01]: and that is

[00:26:39] [SPEAKER_01]: everything from the Jewish people

[00:26:40] [SPEAKER_01]: to the fig tree to a variety of others

[00:26:43] [SPEAKER_01]: and even the idea

[00:26:45] [SPEAKER_01]: that no one knows the day or hour

[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_01]: so here we have

[00:26:49] [SPEAKER_01]: a whole series of statements

[00:26:50] [SPEAKER_01]: that Jesus gives to us

[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_01]: so that we know when

[00:26:54] [SPEAKER_01]: to be looking for him

[00:26:56] [SPEAKER_01]: but the first of those which you talk about

[00:26:58] [SPEAKER_01]: in chapter 12 is

[00:27:00] [SPEAKER_01]: that the Jewish people are preserved

[00:27:02] [SPEAKER_01]: you try to

[00:27:04] [SPEAKER_01]: find today Pitytes, Canaanites

[00:27:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Jebusites

[00:27:08] [SPEAKER_01]: even Babylonians

[00:27:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean it's really kind of hard to find those

[00:27:11] [SPEAKER_01]: you go to Israel you find Jewish people

[00:27:14] [SPEAKER_01]: you go around the world

[00:27:15] [SPEAKER_01]: you find Jewish people and in some respects

[00:27:17] [SPEAKER_01]: that is a remarkable fulfillment

[00:27:19] [SPEAKER_01]: of prophecy as well is it not

[00:27:22] [SPEAKER_00]: it is it's one of the most prophesied

[00:27:25] [SPEAKER_00]: predictions in

[00:27:26] [SPEAKER_00]: the entire Old Testament in fact it's the most

[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_00]: often prophesied

[00:27:29] [SPEAKER_00]: prediction that we have there and what's interesting

[00:27:31] [SPEAKER_00]: is that for 2000 years the Jewish people

[00:27:33] [SPEAKER_00]: were scattered to

[00:27:34] [SPEAKER_00]: really across the whole world

[00:27:36] [SPEAKER_00]: and lost their language, their religion

[00:27:39] [SPEAKER_00]: suffered everything but there's never been

[00:27:41] [SPEAKER_00]: a people group curvy in the history

[00:27:43] [SPEAKER_00]: of civilization who's ever been

[00:27:45] [SPEAKER_00]: scattered like that but then drawn back

[00:27:47] [SPEAKER_00]: to themselves to the point where today

[00:27:49] [SPEAKER_00]: almost half of all Jews in the whole world

[00:27:51] [SPEAKER_00]: are now back in Israel

[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_00]: exactly as God said God

[00:27:55] [SPEAKER_00]: preserved them and the reason why

[00:27:57] [SPEAKER_00]: is because he's going to bring

[00:27:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Israel to salvation at the end

[00:28:01] [SPEAKER_00]: of that seven year tribulation period

[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_00]: what I find really interesting too

[00:28:05] [SPEAKER_00]: on this whole thing is just the context

[00:28:06] [SPEAKER_00]: of Jesus' words, he's speaking about the future

[00:28:09] [SPEAKER_00]: he's speaking about the end times

[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_00]: he's speaking about the tribulation specifically

[00:28:12] [SPEAKER_00]: from a Jewish standpoint

[00:28:15] [SPEAKER_00]: because he's speaking to his future Jewish brethren

[00:28:17] [SPEAKER_00]: and this is what you need to do to get

[00:28:18] [SPEAKER_00]: prepared for my second coming which by the way

[00:28:21] [SPEAKER_00]: does have a lot of signs leading

[00:28:23] [SPEAKER_01]: up to it. And again you also of course

[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_01]: have links to the two witnesses

[00:28:26] [SPEAKER_01]: the 144,000 the rest which

[00:28:28] [SPEAKER_01]: are not there but again if you do the

[00:28:30] [SPEAKER_01]: cross references you can find that as well

[00:28:32] [SPEAKER_01]: and feel them anew a little bit more about

[00:28:34] [SPEAKER_01]: just the remarkable idea of the

[00:28:36] [SPEAKER_01]: regathering of Jewish

[00:28:38] [SPEAKER_01]: individuals to Israel I think you'll find

[00:28:40] [SPEAKER_01]: that chapter very helpful but let's

[00:28:42] [SPEAKER_01]: again keep moving and one of those

[00:28:44] [SPEAKER_01]: is that then we have

[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_01]: him say that concerning

[00:28:48] [SPEAKER_01]: that day and hour no one knows

[00:28:50] [SPEAKER_01]: not even the angels of heaven or the

[00:28:52] [SPEAKER_01]: sun but he does give

[00:28:54] [SPEAKER_01]: us another possible sign

[00:28:56] [SPEAKER_01]: and that is just

[00:28:58] [SPEAKER_01]: as it was in the days of

[00:29:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Noah the idea of eating

[00:29:02] [SPEAKER_01]: and drinking and marrying and giving in marriage

[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_01]: you have this idea

[00:29:06] [SPEAKER_01]: that once again this

[00:29:08] [SPEAKER_01]: would be a time in which

[00:29:10] [SPEAKER_01]: there would be an unexpected return

[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_01]: so again you have a whole section

[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_01]: there that first of all needs to

[00:29:18] [SPEAKER_01]: remind us of what it was

[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_01]: like in the days of Noah and then

[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_01]: why Jesus uses that as such

[00:29:23] [SPEAKER_01]: an example to be using

[00:29:25] [SPEAKER_01]: as an understanding of when

[00:29:27] [SPEAKER_01]: indeed his return is imminent

[00:29:33] [SPEAKER_00]: look at the days of Noah we surveyed that

[00:29:35] [SPEAKER_00]: generation and they were filled that the

[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Bible says with violence it says

[00:29:39] [SPEAKER_00]: there was rampant immorality

[00:29:41] [SPEAKER_00]: all over the planet they had

[00:29:43] [SPEAKER_00]: no thought about God they were just

[00:29:45] [SPEAKER_00]: doing their own thing living

[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_00]: their lives you know eating and drinking

[00:29:49] [SPEAKER_00]: as Jesus said giving in marriage

[00:29:50] [SPEAKER_00]: and there's many different interpretations

[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_00]: about that but suffice it to say is

[00:29:55] [SPEAKER_00]: nobody cared about God they were all living

[00:29:57] [SPEAKER_00]: for themselves pursuing their own

[00:29:59] [SPEAKER_00]: pleasures and that's why the flood

[00:30:01] [SPEAKER_00]: took them by surprise and they were

[00:30:03] [SPEAKER_00]: taken away in judgment so too the

[00:30:05] [SPEAKER_00]: second coming will take away

[00:30:06] [SPEAKER_00]: those in judgment as well when he returns

[00:30:08] [SPEAKER_01]: and again as you point out it is

[00:30:11] [SPEAKER_01]: so unexpected so

[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_01]: the idea is therefore you must be

[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_01]: ready for the Son of Man is coming in

[00:30:17] [SPEAKER_01]: an hour you do not expect

[00:30:18] [SPEAKER_01]: and so it could happen today

[00:30:20] [SPEAKER_01]: could happen before the end of this broadcast

[00:30:23] [SPEAKER_01]: but I wanted to also then move into

[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_01]: the section that you have

[00:30:27] [SPEAKER_01]: on how should last

[00:30:29] [SPEAKER_01]: days believers prepare

[00:30:31] [SPEAKER_01]: because again for

[00:30:33] [SPEAKER_01]: individuals listening to this that might

[00:30:35] [SPEAKER_01]: like to take your book and turn it into a sermon

[00:30:38] [SPEAKER_01]: you have be on the alert

[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_01]: be a faithful steward

[00:30:41] [SPEAKER_01]: be awake be wise

[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_01]: and those are some very good

[00:30:44] [SPEAKER_01]: be comments

[00:30:46] [SPEAKER_01]: but the first of those is to be

[00:30:48] [SPEAKER_01]: alert it does seem to me

[00:30:50] [SPEAKER_01]: that we can kind of be lulled

[00:30:52] [SPEAKER_01]: into complacency

[00:30:54] [SPEAKER_01]: and recognizing

[00:30:56] [SPEAKER_01]: that Jesus gives if you will

[00:30:58] [SPEAKER_01]: one of the briefest of all parables

[00:31:00] [SPEAKER_01]: to illustrate his point

[00:31:02] [SPEAKER_01]: and that has to do with the idea

[00:31:04] [SPEAKER_01]: that the Lord would come like a

[00:31:06] [SPEAKER_01]: thief in the night but it's

[00:31:08] [SPEAKER_01]: a reminder that it could happen in any

[00:31:10] [SPEAKER_01]: moment isn't it

[00:31:12] [SPEAKER_00]: well it is and particularly

[00:31:13] [SPEAKER_00]: in this context here at the end of the

[00:31:16] [SPEAKER_00]: tribulation period you think well gosh

[00:31:18] [SPEAKER_00]: don't people know Jesus is coming back

[00:31:19] [SPEAKER_00]: at that time but Christ says no they're

[00:31:21] [SPEAKER_00]: not going to be ready for it they're

[00:31:23] [SPEAKER_00]: not going to be anticipating the

[00:31:25] [SPEAKER_00]: judgment of the ultimate judgment of God

[00:31:27] [SPEAKER_00]: even though he's already given the seal

[00:31:28] [SPEAKER_00]: the trumpet and the bowl judgments

[00:31:30] [SPEAKER_00]: people are going to be deceived as we

[00:31:32] [SPEAKER_00]: talked about in the beginning of the program

[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_00]: they're also going to suffer a delusion

[00:31:35] [SPEAKER_00]: by God himself they're going to be

[00:31:37] [SPEAKER_00]: blaspheming God by this time

[00:31:39] [SPEAKER_00]: in the tribulation and that's why Jesus

[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_00]: says to his Jewish brother

[00:31:43] [SPEAKER_00]: look your contemporaries

[00:31:45] [SPEAKER_00]: here today they missed me

[00:31:47] [SPEAKER_00]: don't be like them in the end

[00:31:49] [SPEAKER_00]: times make sure that the Jewish people

[00:31:51] [SPEAKER_00]: will recognize that Messiah is

[00:31:53] [SPEAKER_00]: coming so be on the alert

[00:31:55] [SPEAKER_01]: when he does there be is be a faithful

[00:31:58] [SPEAKER_01]: steward as he is

[00:32:00] [SPEAKER_01]: kind of winding down chapter

[00:32:01] [SPEAKER_01]: 24 but this

[00:32:03] [SPEAKER_01]: is a golden opportunity

[00:32:05] [SPEAKER_01]: but also a situation

[00:32:07] [SPEAKER_01]: in which some will fail

[00:32:09] [SPEAKER_01]: the test and hopefully others

[00:32:11] [SPEAKER_01]: will be strong to the finish can you help

[00:32:13] [SPEAKER_01]: us out with that

[00:32:15] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean the whole idea of being

[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_00]: a faithful steward is just realizing

[00:32:19] [SPEAKER_00]: everything we have really is a gift

[00:32:21] [SPEAKER_00]: from God our time our life

[00:32:23] [SPEAKER_00]: here on this earth our possessions our

[00:32:25] [SPEAKER_00]: personalities our skill sets our spiritual

[00:32:27] [SPEAKER_00]: goodness it's all a stewardship

[00:32:29] [SPEAKER_00]: and basically God says I want

[00:32:31] [SPEAKER_00]: you to max out I want you to be the best

[00:32:33] [SPEAKER_00]: you can be for me

[00:32:35] [SPEAKER_00]: yes be alert but also use what's been

[00:32:37] [SPEAKER_00]: given to you so that you can

[00:32:39] [SPEAKER_00]: return that back to God and say look

[00:32:41] [SPEAKER_00]: I invested I did a good job with what

[00:32:43] [SPEAKER_00]: you gave me and that way we can be

[00:32:45] [SPEAKER_00]: a faithful steward.

[00:33:11] [SPEAKER_01]: of the book and these are good

[00:33:13] [SPEAKER_01]: resources for

[00:33:14] [SPEAKER_01]: not only you as a believer to begin

[00:33:17] [SPEAKER_01]: to understand that this is

[00:33:18] [SPEAKER_01]: written in such a way that you could give

[00:33:20] [SPEAKER_01]: to a non-believer

[00:33:22] [SPEAKER_01]: and have him or her kind of read

[00:33:24] [SPEAKER_01]: through that and come to the obvious

[00:33:27] [SPEAKER_01]: conclusion that they indeed

[00:33:29] [SPEAKER_01]: need to escape

[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_01]: by trusting in Jesus

[00:33:32] [SPEAKER_01]: so we're going to talk more about some of the other

[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_01]: actions that we all should be

[00:33:37] [SPEAKER_01]: involved with and we'll talk about that with Jeff

[00:33:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Kinley right after this.

[00:34:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Again, privilege to have with us a little bit longer

[00:34:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Jeff Kinley as we talk about his book the end

[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_01]: alert and then be wise

[00:34:32] [SPEAKER_01]: because it does seem to me

[00:34:33] [SPEAKER_01]: that what Jesus is reminding

[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_01]: us of is there is

[00:34:38] [SPEAKER_01]: going to be deception and a

[00:34:39] [SPEAKER_01]: wise and discerning believer

[00:34:42] [SPEAKER_01]: needs to pay attention to

[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_01]: what is happening around the world

[00:34:46] [SPEAKER_01]: and evaluate that in light of Scripture.

[00:34:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Well and to stay awake as

[00:34:52] [SPEAKER_00]: the parable as he said in

[00:34:54] [SPEAKER_00]: 1925 the first parable the 10

[00:34:56] [SPEAKER_00]: virgins is the same thing he told

[00:34:58] [SPEAKER_00]: the church at Sardis wake up

[00:34:59] [SPEAKER_00]: because I think a lot of times curvy we can

[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_00]: sort of be lulled to sleep by culture

[00:35:03] [SPEAKER_00]: even by the church and what's going on

[00:35:06] [SPEAKER_00]: and we sort of get complacent

[00:35:08] [SPEAKER_00]: and Jesus' knowledge to have your

[00:35:09] [SPEAKER_00]: lamps ready to be

[00:35:11] [SPEAKER_00]: ready because the bridegroom is going to come

[00:35:13] [SPEAKER_00]: at a time you think not so always

[00:35:15] [SPEAKER_00]: be prepared and 1 John 3

[00:35:17] [SPEAKER_00]: says that whoever has this hope

[00:35:19] [SPEAKER_00]: of Christ's return in them purifies

[00:35:21] [SPEAKER_00]: himself just as he is pure so there's

[00:35:23] [SPEAKER_00]: great motivation just like a bride getting

[00:35:25] [SPEAKER_00]: ready for the wedding day.

[00:35:27] [SPEAKER_01]: And again the idea being wise as well

[00:35:28] [SPEAKER_01]: because again we are living in a time

[00:35:31] [SPEAKER_01]: in which we sometimes don't even know

[00:35:33] [SPEAKER_01]: what to believe or who to believe

[00:35:35] [SPEAKER_01]: we need to find trustworthy sources

[00:35:37] [SPEAKER_01]: and that is certainly one of those

[00:35:40] [SPEAKER_01]: other very important issues

[00:35:41] [SPEAKER_01]: but I think before we are through

[00:35:44] [SPEAKER_01]: you do have a section on

[00:35:46] [SPEAKER_01]: how will it all end

[00:35:47] [SPEAKER_01]: and that of course moves us into the

[00:35:49] [SPEAKER_01]: next chapter of Matthew 25

[00:35:51] [SPEAKER_01]: of course we are already sort of already there anyway

[00:35:53] [SPEAKER_01]: in terms of what he

[00:35:55] [SPEAKER_01]: talks about the fact that there

[00:35:57] [SPEAKER_01]: is a kingdom that is coming

[00:35:59] [SPEAKER_01]: but also there is a valley

[00:36:02] [SPEAKER_01]: of decision

[00:36:03] [SPEAKER_01]: and I think it's going to be really

[00:36:05] [SPEAKER_01]: important for people to understand

[00:36:07] [SPEAKER_01]: that although people want

[00:36:09] [SPEAKER_01]: to talk about Jesus in terms of someone

[00:36:11] [SPEAKER_01]: who talks about considering the lilies

[00:36:13] [SPEAKER_01]: of the field and turn the other cheek

[00:36:15] [SPEAKER_01]: and love your enemy

[00:36:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Jesus also talked more about

[00:36:19] [SPEAKER_01]: hell and judgment

[00:36:21] [SPEAKER_01]: than he did about heaven

[00:36:22] [SPEAKER_01]: and that's a part of Jesus that sometimes

[00:36:24] [SPEAKER_01]: people ignore willingly because

[00:36:27] [SPEAKER_01]: they don't realize there is a coming judgment.

[00:36:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Well it's true that Jesus

[00:36:31] [SPEAKER_00]: of Revelation chapter 1

[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_00]: his vision to John the Jesus

[00:36:34] [SPEAKER_00]: of Revelation 19

[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_00]: which he parallels here in Matthew

[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_00]: coming in his second coming is a Christ

[00:36:40] [SPEAKER_00]: of judgment. He's riding a war horse

[00:36:42] [SPEAKER_00]: he's coming to make war and to obliterate

[00:36:45] [SPEAKER_00]: his enemies and there's going to be

[00:36:46] [SPEAKER_00]: a judgment for those who are left

[00:36:48] [SPEAKER_00]: over at the end of that

[00:36:50] [SPEAKER_00]: second coming and he basically

[00:36:53] [SPEAKER_00]: separates them into two categories

[00:36:54] [SPEAKER_00]: these Gentiles those who

[00:36:56] [SPEAKER_00]: showed kindness towards the

[00:36:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Jewish people and those Jewish believers

[00:37:00] [SPEAKER_00]: as evidence of their salvation

[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_00]: and those who were a part of putting them

[00:37:04] [SPEAKER_00]: into prison and turning them in and

[00:37:06] [SPEAKER_00]: arresting them and treating them cruelly

[00:37:08] [SPEAKER_00]: and Christ says those of you who treated

[00:37:10] [SPEAKER_00]: my brothers well

[00:37:12] [SPEAKER_00]: he says entering to this kingdom now

[00:37:14] [SPEAKER_00]: that I prepared for you and the others

[00:37:15] [SPEAKER_00]: he says you'll go away to eternal punishment.

[00:37:18] [SPEAKER_01]: So again one of the reasons

[00:37:20] [SPEAKER_01]: why I know that you like to speak on prophecy

[00:37:22] [SPEAKER_01]: and by the way I just meant

[00:37:23] [SPEAKER_01]: I want to encourage people to go to your website

[00:37:25] [SPEAKER_01]: which we have a link to on the website

[00:37:27] [SPEAKER_01]: and maybe even invite you to come and speak

[00:37:29] [SPEAKER_01]: or hold a prophecy conference

[00:37:31] [SPEAKER_01]: at their own event that they might have

[00:37:37] [SPEAKER_01]: believers for the future

[00:37:39] [SPEAKER_01]: but I can't think of a better way

[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_01]: to get people to understand

[00:37:43] [SPEAKER_01]: that there is a coming judgment

[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_01]: there is a coming apocalypse

[00:37:48] [SPEAKER_01]: and Jesus offers

[00:37:49] [SPEAKER_01]: the way out which you talk about

[00:37:51] [SPEAKER_01]: in a course your book

[00:37:53] [SPEAKER_01]: but also Jesus talks about

[00:37:55] [SPEAKER_01]: in Matthew chapter 26

[00:37:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Well he does

[00:37:59] [SPEAKER_00]: he begins talking about his own crucifixion

[00:38:02] [SPEAKER_00]: we have a married woman

[00:38:03] [SPEAKER_00]: who comes to anoint his feet

[00:38:05] [SPEAKER_00]: with a perfume

[00:38:07] [SPEAKER_00]: and she's preparing him for his burial

[00:38:09] [SPEAKER_00]: so essentially he's preaching the gospel to them

[00:38:11] [SPEAKER_00]: saying gentlemen this is the real reason

[00:38:13] [SPEAKER_00]: why I came here was to die for sins

[00:38:15] [SPEAKER_00]: and this is really kind of

[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_00]: the so what of all of this

[00:38:19] [SPEAKER_00]: of everything Jesus talks about in the apocalypse

[00:38:21] [SPEAKER_00]: is what are you going to do with this Jesus

[00:38:23] [SPEAKER_00]: who claimed to be God

[00:38:25] [SPEAKER_00]: who claimed another future

[00:38:26] [SPEAKER_00]: and who claimed to die on the cross for your sins and rise again

[00:38:29] [SPEAKER_00]: every person must face this Christ

[00:38:31] [SPEAKER_00]: and make that decision

[00:38:33] [SPEAKER_01]: and again you have a whole section on the fact that Jesus

[00:38:35] [SPEAKER_01]: rescues his bride

[00:38:37] [SPEAKER_01]: from the coming wrath

[00:38:38] [SPEAKER_01]: I have also noticed interestingly enough

[00:38:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Jeff that more and more churches

[00:38:43] [SPEAKER_01]: not only aren't speaking about prophecy

[00:38:45] [SPEAKER_01]: there aren't talking about the rapture

[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_01]: or they're saying well that's maybe

[00:38:49] [SPEAKER_01]: a misunderstanding of 1 Thessalonians

[00:38:52] [SPEAKER_01]: 4 or other passages

[00:38:54] [SPEAKER_01]: or even 2 Thessalonians 2

[00:38:56] [SPEAKER_01]: whatever it might be

[00:38:57] [SPEAKER_01]: and so again that's why you put that in the book

[00:39:01] [SPEAKER_01]: because that is also

[00:39:03] [SPEAKER_01]: the great hope

[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_01]: for the believer living now

[00:39:07] [SPEAKER_00]: exactly it's called

[00:39:08] [SPEAKER_00]: the blessed hope and Christ

[00:39:09] [SPEAKER_00]: told his disciples in John 14

[00:39:12] [SPEAKER_00]: that he would return and take them to heaven

[00:39:14] [SPEAKER_00]: not into the kingdom but up to heaven

[00:39:16] [SPEAKER_00]: and so for us as believers

[00:39:18] [SPEAKER_00]: right now we look at the history

[00:39:20] [SPEAKER_00]: of what God did in the Scripture

[00:39:21] [SPEAKER_00]: and Kirby his pattern is always to

[00:39:24] [SPEAKER_00]: rescue the righteous before divine judgment comes

[00:39:27] [SPEAKER_00]: he did it for Noah

[00:39:28] [SPEAKER_00]: he did it for Lot

[00:39:29] [SPEAKER_00]: and he's going to do it again I believe for the church

[00:39:32] [SPEAKER_00]: prior to this horrific

[00:39:34] [SPEAKER_00]: time of God's judgment on the planet

[00:39:36] [SPEAKER_01]: let me just mention now for the next few minutes
