[00:00:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to the Democratic National Convention.
[00:00:23] [SPEAKER_02]: The theme was a bold vision for America's future.
[00:00:27] [SPEAKER_02]: President Obama, former President Obama, as well as Michelle Obama, Doug Imhoff, who is
[00:00:32] [SPEAKER_02]: the second gentleman and Illinois Governor, J.B. Pritzker, some of the speakers and many
[00:00:36] [SPEAKER_02]: others.
[00:00:37] [SPEAKER_02]: And tonight we will be a fight for our freedom.
[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_02]: This is where I think there will be a coming out party for the vice presidential nominee
[00:00:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Tim Walls.
[00:00:43] [SPEAKER_02]: He'll be preceded though by a former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, former President
[00:00:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Bill Clinton and I think Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is going to be speaking as
[00:00:53] [SPEAKER_02]: well.
[00:00:54] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll predict that he's going to say the very thing I gave answers to in the commentary
[00:00:58] [SPEAKER_02]: yesterday about whether or not the crime rate has gone down.
[00:01:01] [SPEAKER_02]: I think most of us know that's not true but he will try to make the case as well
[00:01:05] [SPEAKER_02]: as make the case for why we need to put Kamala Harris in the Oval Office and an
[00:01:11] [SPEAKER_02]: individual that already has been serving as Vice President for some time which I thought
[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_02]: for just a minute before we get into some of the articles and the first one is what is called
[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_02]: the Democratic Party's Project 2025.
[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_02]: We've heard a lot about the Project 2025 written by the Heritage Foundation saying
[00:01:28] [SPEAKER_02]: this is really the blueprint for the Trump administration if it comes into power.
[00:01:34] [SPEAKER_02]: First of all it's not and second of all I think that's really an attempt to try
[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_02]: to scare people about some really good concrete ideas that really should be implemented but
[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_02]: since people don't read the 900 page document they don't know.
[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_02]: So we're going to talk about what is in the Democratic platform but a lot of what people
[00:01:52] [SPEAKER_02]: make their decisions on are speeches not platforms.
[00:01:56] [SPEAKER_02]: I understand that.
[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_02]: We will have the Democratic platform, the Republican platform on our election central
[00:02:01] [SPEAKER_02]: which again you can go to our website, right hand column there, election central just
[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_02]: all sorts of information that we have there, election resources, voter guides, viewpoints,
[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_02]: fact checking, all sorts of articles and the rest.
[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_02]: But for just a minute I think most people might not have tuned in Monday and Tuesday
[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_02]: but they might tune in tonight to say well I understand a little bit more who this
[00:02:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Vice Presidential nominee is Tim Walsh and they'll certainly I think possibly turn
[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_02]: in tomorrow because that is when Kamala Harris will accept the convention's nomination
[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_02]: as President and I want to give you three points.
[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_02]: I know some of you like to take some notes so you can number one to three but a few
[00:02:43] [SPEAKER_02]: problems with the speeches we've heard so far and the ones we're going to hear in
[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_02]: the future.
[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Now some of this applies to the Republican convention but a lot of it applies to the
[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Democratic convention and first of all I think point number one is Democrats in
[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_02]: these speeches over the last two nights have made it sound like they were not in
[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_02]: charge.
[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Think about this when they say we're going to do, we're going to do, we're going to
[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_02]: do, we're going to do and you're going wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute.
[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_02]: January of 2009 Barack Obama became President of the United States and for the next eight
[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_02]: years he was President.
[00:03:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Not only was he as a Democrat actually in control of the presidency many of those
[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_02]: years he had both a Democratic House and a Democratic Senate.
[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Did he try to pass comprehensive immigration reform?
[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_02]: No, he tried and was eventually successful to pass something which has been called
[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Obamacare or the Affordable Care Act which I'm not sure a lot of people think has
[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_02]: been so successful but then of course Donald Trump was in four years but now
[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_02]: think about this Kamala Harris has been the Vice President for three and a half
[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_02]: years, Joe Biden's been the President for three and a half years.
[00:03:59] [SPEAKER_02]: So from 2009 to 2024, think this about this just for a minute here.
[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_02]: All but about four years of those if you will 16 years is that right?
[00:04:13] [SPEAKER_02]: You know 15 almost 16 years, 15 and a half years Democrats were in control.
[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_02]: So when you hear Bernie Sanders say these are the things we need to do
[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_02]: you're going Bernie Sanders you've been in the United States Senate all
[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_02]: those years.
[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Barack Obama was President eight years, Joe Biden is President three and a half
[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_02]: years Kamala Harris who constantly likes to say starting day one I'm going
[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_02]: to do and going Madam Vice President you have been in power for three
[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_02]: and a half years there is actually no reason why you couldn't just step
[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_02]: forward tomorrow and say this is what we're going to send as legislation
[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_02]: to Congress to pass and we need to get this done before the election.
[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_02]: We recognize Joe Biden is kind of fading and I want to be the next
[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_02]: President and so you know you don't have to wait till January quote day one
[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_02]: to do these things.
[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_02]: You have a significant amount of power, more power than you had as a United
[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_02]: States Senator and yet the all these speeches are almost as if we're
[00:05:16] [SPEAKER_02]: out of power and it's like no you're in power.
[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_02]: You could honestly have given these speeches if you were in the
[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Republican Party because Donald Trump has not been in power for the last
[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_02]: three and a half years but you have been.
[00:05:28] [SPEAKER_02]: But there were eight years even before Donald Trump that you were in
[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_02]: power and many of these things that are being called for simply don't
[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_02]: necessarily aren't actually happening and desperately need to happen if
[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_02]: we're going to save this country.
[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_02]: So point number one is they were in charge, but a lot of these
[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_02]: speeches act as if they weren't in charge.
[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Number two, don't tell me what you hate.
[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, let's be honest.
[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Michelle Obama.
[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_02]: It's pretty obvious she hates Donald Trump.
[00:05:59] [SPEAKER_02]: JB Pritzker, you know, Governor of Illinois.
[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, whoa, you know, I'm a billionaire.
[00:06:06] [SPEAKER_02]: He's not in on all the things and we wouldn't go down that road.
[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_02]: And again, you don't win an election by telling us what is wrong,
[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_02]: especially when you realize that again, you've been in power for
[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_02]: the last three and a half years.
[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_02]: If there's something wrong with the country and you didn't solve it,
[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_02]: why should we give you four more years?
[00:06:24] [SPEAKER_02]: I think it's a reasonable question.
[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_02]: So number one, they were in charge, but sort of act like they weren't.
[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Number two, they're telling us what's wrong with the country,
[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_02]: what they hate.
[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_02]: And number three then when they do tell us what they want to do,
[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_02]: nobody tells us how we're going to pay for this.
[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Again, I don't want to beat up too much on an individual that has
[00:06:43] [SPEAKER_02]: certainly been around for a long time, but Bernie Sanders.
[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_02]: If you watch that speech, it's just one statement after another.
[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_02]: We need to make sure that all the people that want to go to college
[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_02]: can go to college for free.
[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, we need to make sure that anybody wants health care.
[00:06:59] [SPEAKER_02]: We need to make sure that health care is free.
[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_02]: We are of course over the next couple of days are going to hear
[00:07:05] [SPEAKER_02]: that we want to give first time home buyers $25,000.
[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Who's going to pay for that?
[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_02]: And again, there's just a sense in which these various claims are
[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_02]: constantly being made and nobody even acknowledges that we're
[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_02]: $35 trillion in national debt.
[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_02]: And that's pale in comparison when you look at the various,
[00:07:32] [SPEAKER_02]: what are called entitlements, the unfunded liabilities,
[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_02]: because that's $218 trillion.
[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_02]: And at a time when you're broke, I mean, it's not just the
[00:07:44] [SPEAKER_02]: federal government is broke.
[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_02]: It's $35 trillion past broke.
[00:07:48] [SPEAKER_02]: And then to have one statement after another, I think illustrates
[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_02]: again, we have individuals that are not living in reality.
[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_02]: I've said this before, but I think it's worth saying again,
[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_02]: these are not serious people.
[00:08:03] [SPEAKER_02]: And a little bit later, if I have some time, we'll talk
[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_02]: about some of the proposals that have come from JD Vance and
[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Donald Trump.
[00:08:10] [SPEAKER_02]: But right now, Democratic Party, they're actually trying to
[00:08:13] [SPEAKER_02]: outdo anything that Donald Trump or JD Vance is proposing.
[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_02]: And again, you would think we were living in a world of
[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_02]: balanced budgets and we are not.
[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_02]: We actually run up another trillion dollars in the national
[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_02]: debt about every 100 days.
[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_02]: And then to just be as irresponsible as some of these
[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_02]: speakers were last night and will be over the next two nights
[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_02]: to say we want to even spend more is irresponsible.
[00:08:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's come back and talk about what's in the platform right
[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_02]: after this.
[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_01]: This is Viewpoints with Kirby Anderson.
[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_02]: A few weeks ago, Donald Trump argued that we are closer
[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_02]: to World War Three than we have been in decades.
[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Is that merely campaign hyperbole or an honest assessment
[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_02]: of reality?
[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Global conflicts seem inevitable no matter who is
[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_02]: elected president.
[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_02]: The Commission on the National Defense Strategy has just
[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_02]: issued a 114 page report.
[00:09:22] [SPEAKER_02]: The commission was created by Congress in 2022 and began its
[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_02]: deliberations in April 2023.
[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_02]: It is co-chaired by former Democratic Congresswoman Jane
[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Harmon and by Eric Edelman, a top Pentagon official during
[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_02]: George W.
[00:09:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Bush's administration.
[00:09:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Here are a few of its conclusions.
[00:09:39] [SPEAKER_02]: The threats the United States faces are the most serious
[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_02]: and most challenging the nation has encountered since 1945
[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_02]: and include the potential for near term major war.
[00:09:48] [SPEAKER_02]: China and Russia are major powers that seek to undermine
[00:09:52] [SPEAKER_02]: U.S. influence.
[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_02]: China is outpacing the United States and has largely
[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_02]: negated the U.S.
[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_02]: military advantage in the Western Pacific through two
[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_02]: decades of focused military investment.
[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_02]: And China and Russia's No Limits Partnership formed
[00:10:06] [SPEAKER_02]: in February 2022 just days before Russia's invasion
[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_02]: of Ukraine has only deepened and broadened to include
[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_02]: a military and economic partnership with Iran and
[00:10:16] [SPEAKER_02]: North Korea, each of which presents its own significant
[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_02]: threat to U.S.
[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_02]: interest.
[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_02]: This new alignment of nations opposed to U.S.
[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_02]: interest creates a real risk if not a likelihood that
[00:10:26] [SPEAKER_02]: conflict anywhere could become a multi theater or
[00:10:29] [SPEAKER_02]: global war.
[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_02]: This report is a reminder that we live in a dangerous
[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_02]: world and that a global war is possible who we
[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_02]: elect as the next commander-in-chief will face
[00:10:38] [SPEAKER_02]: some significant challenges.
[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm Kirby Anderson and that's my point of view.
[00:10:47] [SPEAKER_01]: For a free booklet on a biblical view of anti-semitism,
[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_01]: go to viewpoints.info slash anti-semitism,
[00:10:54] [SPEAKER_01]: viewpoints.info slash anti-semitism.
[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_00]: You're listening to Point of View, your listener
[00:11:02] [SPEAKER_00]: supported source for truth.
[00:11:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Make once again as you make decisions about who
[00:11:06] [SPEAKER_02]: you're going to vote for.
[00:11:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Part of the decision making process I think should
[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_02]: be looking at the various platforms.
[00:11:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Now, as I mentioned earlier in the week, I
[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_02]: recognize that sometimes platforms have various
[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_02]: ambiguous language full of platitudes.
[00:11:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes it's very vague, but this time both the
[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Republican Party and the Democratic Party have
[00:11:29] [SPEAKER_02]: had much more of a hands-on involvement.
[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_02]: And so there are going to be times when a candidate
[00:11:36] [SPEAKER_02]: may not agree with his or her party's platform,
[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_02]: but you need to ask why and why would you
[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_02]: disagree?
[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_02]: But by and large, since so much of what happens
[00:11:45] [SPEAKER_02]: in Congress is through party politics.
[00:11:48] [SPEAKER_02]: We may wish it weren't the case, but that is the case.
[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_02]: You are forced so many times to vote along party lines,
[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_02]: even if you may internally have a disagreement.
[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_02]: And so that I think is really important.
[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_02]: And so a lot of people are asking what does that mean?
[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Can we get a prediction on not only what will Kamala
[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Harris do if she is elected president,
[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_02]: but what would other Democratic senators and members
[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_02]: of Congress do?
[00:12:16] [SPEAKER_02]: And again, this particular article comes from the
[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Wall Street Journal where they say what Kamala Harris
[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_02]: will do if she wins a White House in 77 days.
[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Now it's down to 75 days.
[00:12:26] [SPEAKER_02]: It's mostly an open question since she has leaped
[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_02]: frog the primaries and didn't have to argue over
[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_02]: policy with any Democratic competitors.
[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_02]: But let's just be very honest, both as Donald
[00:12:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Trump had a control over the Republican platform,
[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Joe Biden and now Kamala Harris have had a real
[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_02]: control over the Democratic platform.
[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_02]: And what you have is a 92 page document,
[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_02]: which as they point out is filled with political
[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_02]: rhetoric and some exaggerations, but nevertheless
[00:12:54] [SPEAKER_02]: makes a lot of promises.
[00:12:56] [SPEAKER_02]: And in light of what I just said a minute ago,
[00:12:58] [SPEAKER_02]: who's going to pay for this?
[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Just look at a few of the key points that are
[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_02]: in this article. It's about three pages long.
[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_02]: You can read it for yourself.
[00:13:08] [SPEAKER_02]: You don't have to agree with everything
[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_02]: that I say or even everything the platform says,
[00:13:12] [SPEAKER_02]: but this is really the working document
[00:13:16] [SPEAKER_02]: for what a Biden administration was,
[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_02]: what a Harris administration will be with me on that.
[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_02]: OK, first of all, health care should be a
[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_02]: right in America, not a privilege.
[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, we heard that last night from Bernie Sanders.
[00:13:29] [SPEAKER_02]: And so the idea of expanding the Affordable Care Act
[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_02]: known as Obamacare number one, number two,
[00:13:35] [SPEAKER_02]: they support the expansion of Medicaid,
[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_02]: which would be encouraging states to provide even more
[00:13:41] [SPEAKER_02]: health coverage on the federal government's tab.
[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_02]: One of the reasons some states don't want to do that is
[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_02]: they recognize that the government,
[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_02]: the federal government pay for a while and then it'll
[00:13:51] [SPEAKER_02]: just back off and then all of a sudden states,
[00:13:54] [SPEAKER_02]: which have to balance their budgets,
[00:13:56] [SPEAKER_02]: won't have the financial resources to keep that going.
[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_02]: So the argument is, well, that's fine.
[00:14:01] [SPEAKER_02]: We can just print more money in the federal government.
[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Don't have to worry about that.
[00:14:05] [SPEAKER_02]: They also want to expand Medicaid to cover.
[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Are you ready for this?
[00:14:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Dental vision, hearing services.
[00:14:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my goodness, how much is that going to cost?
[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Democrats want to provide free universal preschool.
[00:14:20] [SPEAKER_02]: That costs you something here.
[00:14:22] [SPEAKER_02]: We want to pass a full national paid family and medical leave.
[00:14:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Now, some of that already exists, but there raised the federal
[00:14:29] [SPEAKER_02]: minimal wage to at least $15 an hour to push to restore
[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_02]: the expanded child tax credit and earned income credit
[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_02]: and all on and on.
[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_02]: And the list just goes on.
[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_02]: And as people try to run the numbers,
[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_02]: they realize that this is asking for a budget
[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_02]: that could be twice the size that it is right now.
[00:14:53] [SPEAKER_02]: And we already are running deficits.
[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_02]: As I pointed out, we're adding a trillion dollars
[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_02]: to the national debt every 100 days.
[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Do the math, as we oftentimes say, you can see this is a quick
[00:15:08] [SPEAKER_02]: way to really bankrupt the nation.
[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Also, this article says there's plenty else in the platform,
[00:15:14] [SPEAKER_02]: including turning Washington and D.C. into the 51st state,
[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_02]: codifying national abortion protections nationwide,
[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_02]: saying we don't care if state legislatures have decided
[00:15:27] [SPEAKER_02]: to put some restrictions on abortion.
[00:15:30] [SPEAKER_02]: We want to overturn all of those and actually go beyond
[00:15:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Roe versus Wade ever was spending more on environmental justice,
[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_02]: whatever that means, climate change, passing a series
[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_02]: of enormous tax increases on Americans and businesses
[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_02]: that probably still won't begin to pay for all of these
[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_02]: promises as well.
[00:15:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Now, the disclaimer at the end from the editorial board
[00:15:53] [SPEAKER_02]: of the Wall Street Journal is, OK, Kamala Harris isn't
[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_02]: committed to every jot or title of this document.
[00:15:59] [SPEAKER_02]: And certainly, there are some concerns that oftentimes
[00:16:03] [SPEAKER_02]: party platforms come and go.
[00:16:06] [SPEAKER_02]: But if you want to understand what the future is like,
[00:16:11] [SPEAKER_02]: I think you can get a pretty good idea of looking at some
[00:16:14] [SPEAKER_02]: of these party platforms.
[00:16:16] [SPEAKER_02]: And so this is a good summary.
[00:16:18] [SPEAKER_02]: You may say, look, I have no patience to sit down
[00:16:22] [SPEAKER_02]: and read a 92-page document for the Democratic Party Platform.
[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_02]: The Republican one is even longer, by the way.
[00:16:31] [SPEAKER_02]: So maybe it would be good to have a summary.
[00:16:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, we're going to be providing some of that.
[00:16:35] [SPEAKER_02]: As a matter of fact, those of you that actually received
[00:16:37] [SPEAKER_02]: the Outlook magazine, you're going to be receiving in about
[00:16:40] [SPEAKER_02]: a month some of that.
[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_02]: And of course, we'll have a lot of summaries there
[00:16:44] [SPEAKER_02]: on our election central box.
[00:16:47] [SPEAKER_02]: It's on the right hand side, right beneath it is Pray for
[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_02]: America. And if you're not praying for America, you really
[00:16:53] [SPEAKER_02]: need to now.
[00:16:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Last week, the Pray for America message was on revival.
[00:16:58] [SPEAKER_02]: This week it is not only that we need a revival, but we need
[00:17:01] [SPEAKER_02]: a reformation.
[00:17:03] [SPEAKER_02]: So if you haven't subscribed to that, that is a case
[00:17:05] [SPEAKER_02]: underneath. Of course, the point of view highlights on
[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Spotify and all sorts of other great resources.
[00:17:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Of course, my viewpoint's commentary today is there.
[00:17:13] [SPEAKER_02]: But just before we take a break and spend some time
[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_02]: then having a chance to talk about some really important
[00:17:19] [SPEAKER_02]: resources that come from Anne Graham-Lotts and her daughter.
[00:17:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's also go to one other piece that I've posted, and that's
[00:17:27] [SPEAKER_02]: by Cal Thomas.
[00:17:29] [SPEAKER_02]: He says the first Democratic National Convention I attended
[00:17:32] [SPEAKER_02]: was in San Francisco in 1984.
[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_02]: By the way, Cal Thomas and I both attended the 1984
[00:17:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Republican Convention here in Dallas.
[00:17:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Matter of fact, I was writing columns and he was writing
[00:17:44] [SPEAKER_02]: columns. That's how a lot of that developed.
[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_02]: And he mentions that the U.N. Ambassador at the time, who
[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_02]: used to be one of my professors at Georgetown, Jean Kirkpatrick,
[00:17:53] [SPEAKER_02]: referred to those individuals at the Democratic National
[00:17:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Convention as San Francisco Democrats.
[00:18:00] [SPEAKER_02]: And that's, of course, back in 1984.
[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Forty years later, he says not much has changed.
[00:18:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Back then you had Vice President Walter Mondale.
[00:18:09] [SPEAKER_02]: He was the former vice president at that point who was
[00:18:11] [SPEAKER_02]: nominated to run against Ronald Reagan.
[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_02]: And he reminds us that at the time there, you also had some of
[00:18:18] [SPEAKER_02]: the buzzwords of family and hope and caring and patriotism
[00:18:23] [SPEAKER_02]: and things like that.
[00:18:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Walter Mondale claimed he would not raise taxes, but later in
[00:18:28] [SPEAKER_02]: debate with Reagan said that he did bash corporations in
[00:18:31] [SPEAKER_02]: the rich. He says, does that sound familiar?
[00:18:33] [SPEAKER_02]: And a variety of other issues.
[00:18:35] [SPEAKER_02]: But interestingly enough, he points out that doesn't seem
[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_02]: like a lot has changed in 40 years.
[00:18:41] [SPEAKER_02]: That is, you can now go from 1984 to 2024.
[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_02]: And if we have any idea of what, again, a President Kamala
[00:18:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Harris would want to do in office, we just had the
[00:18:55] [SPEAKER_02]: platform that I gave you some summaries about.
[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_02]: But we also have the speech that she gave last Friday in
[00:19:02] [SPEAKER_02]: North Carolina.
[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_02]: And we know what that would mean because, again, channeling
[00:19:08] [SPEAKER_02]: he says Walter Mondale and other Democratic presidential
[00:19:11] [SPEAKER_02]: nominees, she announced support for about a dozen different
[00:19:15] [SPEAKER_02]: economic policies aimed at supposedly lowering costs for
[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_02]: American families.
[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_02]: One of those which we mentioned was the $25,000 down
[00:19:26] [SPEAKER_02]: payment assistance for first-time homebuyers.
[00:19:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Another one we talked about earlier in the week was the
[00:19:33] [SPEAKER_02]: idea of price controls.
[00:19:36] [SPEAKER_02]: And we talked about the fact that that had been tried by
[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Richard Nixon in this country.
[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Of course it was tried for quite some time in Russia and
[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Venezuela and many other places and has not worked
[00:19:48] [SPEAKER_02]: very well.
[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_02]: And so just a good illustration of that.
[00:19:52] [SPEAKER_02]: But he winds down by a reminding us of a Wall Street
[00:19:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Journal editorial that was titled How the Biden
[00:19:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Harris Economy Left Most People Behind, Most Americans
[00:20:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Behind, and it said a government spending boom
[00:20:06] [SPEAKER_02]: fueled inflation that has crushed real average
[00:20:09] [SPEAKER_02]: waves, average income, excuse me.
[00:20:13] [SPEAKER_02]: And Harris wants to spend more and he asked the question
[00:20:16] [SPEAKER_02]: does anyone think continuing on a path that led to
[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_02]: inflation will reduce inflation?
[00:20:23] [SPEAKER_02]: And so back to some of the questions this week.
[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_02]: If you do tune in tonight or tomorrow night, I think
[00:20:30] [SPEAKER_02]: the question is who do you think has been in charge
[00:20:32] [SPEAKER_02]: over the last three and a half years?
[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Who's been in charge 12 of the last 16 years?
[00:20:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe Democrats.
[00:20:39] [SPEAKER_02]: So if you're concerned about a wage gap or if you're
[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_02]: concerned about minimum wage, you're concerned about
[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_02]: immigration, you have the opportunity to address
[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_02]: many of those issues.
[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_02]: And most importantly, you have and again almost a
[00:20:53] [SPEAKER_02]: dozen different spending proposals being put forward
[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_02]: by Kamala Harris.
[00:20:58] [SPEAKER_02]: How are you going to pay for that?
[00:21:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Have you not noticed that we're $35 trillion in debt?
[00:21:05] [SPEAKER_02]: We have all sorts of unfunded liabilities to the tune
[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_02]: of $218 trillion and you're acting as if we're
[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_02]: balancing the budget and have money to spare.
[00:21:17] [SPEAKER_02]: It's a good question.
[00:21:18] [SPEAKER_02]: And you should be asking yourself that as you
[00:21:20] [SPEAKER_02]: listen to some of the speeches.
[00:21:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, we're going to be joined with Ann Graham
[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Watson, her daughter, all that coming up right
[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_02]: after this.
[00:21:31] [SPEAKER_01]: At point of view, we believe there is power in
[00:21:35] [SPEAKER_01]: prayer and that is why we have relaunched our
[00:21:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Pray for America campaign, a series of weekly
[00:21:41] [SPEAKER_01]: emails to unite Americans in prayer for our nation.
[00:21:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Imagine if hundreds of thousands of Americans
[00:21:50] [SPEAKER_01]: started praying intentionally together on a weekly basis.
[00:21:55] [SPEAKER_01]: You can help make that a reality by subscribing
[00:21:58] [SPEAKER_01]: to our Pray for America emails.
[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Just go to pointofview.net and click on the Pray
[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_01]: for America banner that's right there on the
[00:22:09] [SPEAKER_01]: homepage.
[00:22:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Each week you'll receive a brief news update,
[00:22:13] [SPEAKER_01]: a specific prayer guide and a free resource
[00:22:16] [SPEAKER_01]: to equip you in further action.
[00:22:19] [SPEAKER_01]: We encourage you to not only pray with us each
[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_01]: week, but to share these prayers and the
[00:22:25] [SPEAKER_01]: resources with others in your life.
[00:22:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Join the movement today.
[00:22:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Visit pointofview.net and click on the banner
[00:22:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Pray for America right there at the top.
[00:22:37] [SPEAKER_01]: That's pointofview.net.
[00:22:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's pray together for God to make a
[00:22:43] [SPEAKER_01]: difference in our land.
[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Point of view will continue after this.
[00:22:58] [SPEAKER_01]: You are listening to Point of View.
[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_01]: The opinions expressed on Point of View do not
[00:23:05] [SPEAKER_01]: necessarily reflect the views of the management
[00:23:08] [SPEAKER_01]: or staff of this station.
[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_01]: And now here again is Kirby Anderson.
[00:23:14] [SPEAKER_02]: You know one of the things we encourage you to do
[00:23:16] [SPEAKER_02]: is of course read through the scriptures and I know
[00:23:18] [SPEAKER_02]: that when I've preached through the book of
[00:23:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Genesis, I oftentimes title it broken branches
[00:23:24] [SPEAKER_02]: on your family tree because you learn a
[00:23:26] [SPEAKER_02]: lot about the family dynamics Abraham, Isaac
[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_02]: and Jacob.
[00:23:31] [SPEAKER_02]: We're also going to be talking about Rebecca.
[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_02]: We'll talk about Laban and a number of others
[00:23:35] [SPEAKER_02]: because we'll focus on Genesis 24.
[00:23:38] [SPEAKER_02]: But all of that is kind of the background for
[00:23:40] [SPEAKER_02]: this book that has been out for some time,
[00:23:42] [SPEAKER_02]: preparing to meet Jesus 21.
[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_02]: A challenge to move from salvation to
[00:23:48] [SPEAKER_02]: transformation written by Anne Graham.
[00:23:51] [SPEAKER_02]: What's been on the program with us before
[00:23:52] [SPEAKER_02]: as we've talked about many of her books,
[00:23:55] [SPEAKER_02]: for example, Jesus and me give me Jesus light
[00:23:58] [SPEAKER_02]: in his presence, the president of Angel
[00:24:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Ministry and she is co-written this with her
[00:24:04] [SPEAKER_02]: daughter.
[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Matter of fact, last time we had them both on.
[00:24:07] [SPEAKER_02]: We talked about Jesus followers, a best
[00:24:09] [SPEAKER_02]: selling book.
[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_02]: So Anne Graham Watts, welcome back to Point of
[00:24:12] [SPEAKER_02]: View.
[00:24:13] [SPEAKER_05]: Kirby, thank you so much.
[00:24:15] [SPEAKER_05]: It's a delight to talk with you.
[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_02]: It is also a delight to spend a little
[00:24:19] [SPEAKER_02]: of time with Rachel Ruth Watts.
[00:24:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.
[00:24:22] [SPEAKER_02]: She of course was also the co-author
[00:24:24] [SPEAKER_02]: of that book, Jesus Followers.
[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_02]: She's a graduate of Baylor University,
[00:24:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Go Bears, as well as teaching a weekly
[00:24:31] [SPEAKER_02]: online Bible study.
[00:24:33] [SPEAKER_02]: So Rachel Ruth, thank you for joining us
[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_02]: today here as well on Point of View.
[00:24:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, thank you so much for having me.
[00:24:39] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm thrilled.
[00:24:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, I thought for just a minute, Anne,
[00:24:42] [SPEAKER_02]: you might give us the background.
[00:24:43] [SPEAKER_02]: I think some people know this.
[00:24:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Abram or Abraham now actually seeking
[00:24:48] [SPEAKER_02]: a wife for his beloved son, Isaac.
[00:24:51] [SPEAKER_02]: And we meet Rebecca.
[00:24:52] [SPEAKER_02]: We meet a brother, Laban, and you take
[00:24:55] [SPEAKER_02]: some of these different passages in
[00:24:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Genesis 24 to really help us
[00:25:01] [SPEAKER_02]: understand more about the fact that
[00:25:03] [SPEAKER_02]: we are going to meet Jesus.
[00:25:05] [SPEAKER_02]: And as you remind us early on, we're
[00:25:07] [SPEAKER_02]: the bride and I think sometimes a bride
[00:25:10] [SPEAKER_02]: is a little bit nervous in meeting
[00:25:12] [SPEAKER_02]: the bridegroom.
[00:25:13] [SPEAKER_02]: So you use Genesis 24 to kind of
[00:25:15] [SPEAKER_02]: prepare us for meeting Jesus.
[00:25:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Can you explain that?
[00:25:19] [SPEAKER_05]: It's the most beautiful allegory.
[00:25:22] [SPEAKER_05]: It was a real story, of course.
[00:25:23] [SPEAKER_05]: It really happened.
[00:25:24] [SPEAKER_05]: But the application is just beautiful.
[00:25:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Abraham was the father.
[00:25:28] [SPEAKER_05]: He wanted to find a suitable
[00:25:30] [SPEAKER_05]: bride for his son, Isaac, who would
[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_05]: be the heir of everything they owned.
[00:25:34] [SPEAKER_05]: And so he sent his servant, Eleazar,
[00:25:37] [SPEAKER_05]: to look for a bride for Isaac.
[00:25:40] [SPEAKER_05]: And and you know, the journey unfolds.
[00:25:43] [SPEAKER_05]: The servant found Rebecca and then
[00:25:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Rebecca, her characteristics are
[00:25:49] [SPEAKER_05]: the ones that are used in the book
[00:25:51] [SPEAKER_05]: as being the ones that would be
[00:25:54] [SPEAKER_05]: pleasing to the father so that she
[00:25:56] [SPEAKER_05]: would be a bride pleasing to the
[00:25:58] [SPEAKER_05]: father to give to the son and that
[00:25:59] [SPEAKER_05]: the son would love her.
[00:26:01] [SPEAKER_05]: And and I've taught that story.
[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_05]: I have read it.
[00:26:05] [SPEAKER_05]: I have, you know, meditated on it.
[00:26:07] [SPEAKER_05]: But it was Rachel Ruth who went
[00:26:09] [SPEAKER_05]: through and found these 31
[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_05]: characteristics of Rebecca that
[00:26:13] [SPEAKER_05]: apply to us because God is our
[00:26:15] [SPEAKER_05]: father.
[00:26:16] [SPEAKER_05]: He sends out the Holy Spirit to
[00:26:17] [SPEAKER_05]: look for a bride for his son.
[00:26:19] [SPEAKER_05]: And of course, anyone who comes by
[00:26:21] [SPEAKER_05]: face to Jesus at the cross can
[00:26:23] [SPEAKER_05]: become the bride of Christ.
[00:26:24] [SPEAKER_05]: When we put our faith in Jesus and
[00:26:26] [SPEAKER_05]: trust him as saviour and Lord,
[00:26:28] [SPEAKER_05]: invite him into our hearts and
[00:26:29] [SPEAKER_05]: we're born again into his family.
[00:26:30] [SPEAKER_05]: We become the bride.
[00:26:32] [SPEAKER_05]: But then the journey begins and
[00:26:33] [SPEAKER_05]: we want to be a bride that's
[00:26:35] [SPEAKER_05]: pleasing to the father and
[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_05]: pleasing to the bride groom.
[00:26:38] [SPEAKER_05]: So when Jesus sees you and me,
[00:26:40] [SPEAKER_05]: we want his face to light up
[00:26:42] [SPEAKER_05]: and for him to be delighted with
[00:26:43] [SPEAKER_05]: the bride that's been prepared
[00:26:44] [SPEAKER_05]: for him.
[00:26:45] [SPEAKER_05]: So Rachel Ruth is actually the one
[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_05]: that pulled out the characteristics
[00:26:48] [SPEAKER_05]: and I helped write it with her.
[00:26:50] [SPEAKER_05]: But I wouldn't have found all
[00:26:52] [SPEAKER_05]: those if it hadn't been for Rachel
[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_05]: Ruth.
[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, Rachel Ruth, let's come to
[00:26:55] [SPEAKER_02]: you because we're talking about
[00:26:56] [SPEAKER_02]: beautiful and purified and
[00:26:57] [SPEAKER_02]: humble spirit and motivated and
[00:26:59] [SPEAKER_02]: unashamed, a good listener,
[00:27:01] [SPEAKER_02]: committed, perseverant.
[00:27:03] [SPEAKER_02]: You are of course teaching a
[00:27:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Bible study and sometimes you
[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_02]: can find some great gems and
[00:27:09] [SPEAKER_02]: some great spiritual truths even
[00:27:11] [SPEAKER_02]: as you read through a narrative
[00:27:13] [SPEAKER_02]: story because this is really a
[00:27:14] [SPEAKER_02]: historical story.
[00:27:15] [SPEAKER_02]: But in the process, we can
[00:27:17] [SPEAKER_02]: learn a lot more about the
[00:27:18] [SPEAKER_02]: characteristics we need to
[00:27:20] [SPEAKER_02]: develop in our own lives.
[00:27:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, exactly.
[00:27:24] [SPEAKER_04]: And I love a story.
[00:27:25] [SPEAKER_04]: I feel like stories just kind of
[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_04]: come alive to me and make sense
[00:27:28] [SPEAKER_04]: in my head.
[00:27:29] [SPEAKER_04]: I can picture it and the thing
[00:27:31] [SPEAKER_04]: that is so wonderful about the
[00:27:33] [SPEAKER_04]: Bible, about God's Word is
[00:27:35] [SPEAKER_04]: the living word.
[00:27:36] [SPEAKER_04]: And so you can read it and
[00:27:38] [SPEAKER_04]: it's a great story and all
[00:27:39] [SPEAKER_04]: that.
[00:27:40] [SPEAKER_04]: But when you really study it,
[00:27:41] [SPEAKER_04]: there are lessons there.
[00:27:43] [SPEAKER_04]: God's wanting to teach us
[00:27:44] [SPEAKER_04]: through each of these stories
[00:27:45] [SPEAKER_04]: and in Rebecca, the whole
[00:27:47] [SPEAKER_04]: story with that is just
[00:27:49] [SPEAKER_04]: amazing to me how it's so
[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_04]: similar to what we are as the
[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_04]: bride of Christ and the Holy
[00:27:55] [SPEAKER_04]: Spirit looking for that bride
[00:27:56] [SPEAKER_04]: for God's son Jesus.
[00:27:59] [SPEAKER_04]: And so looking at Rebecca,
[00:28:02] [SPEAKER_04]: seeing how the servant stumbles
[00:28:04] [SPEAKER_04]: kind of on her and he comes to
[00:28:06] [SPEAKER_04]: the well and he's looking,
[00:28:08] [SPEAKER_04]: just ask the Lord please show
[00:28:10] [SPEAKER_04]: me who it is that you want me
[00:28:12] [SPEAKER_04]: to pick by the way that she
[00:28:14] [SPEAKER_04]: comes and offers me water and
[00:28:16] [SPEAKER_04]: offers to water my camel too.
[00:28:19] [SPEAKER_04]: And Rebecca would have had no
[00:28:20] [SPEAKER_04]: idea that this man was
[00:28:22] [SPEAKER_04]: searching for a bride for this
[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_04]: princely son from this wealthy
[00:28:27] [SPEAKER_04]: family and she was just going
[00:28:29] [SPEAKER_04]: about her everyday activities
[00:28:31] [SPEAKER_04]: and her chores and she was
[00:28:33] [SPEAKER_04]: doing them faithfully.
[00:28:34] [SPEAKER_04]: And so that's when all the
[00:28:36] [SPEAKER_04]: characteristics started coming
[00:28:37] [SPEAKER_04]: alive to me and just seeing
[00:28:39] [SPEAKER_04]: her being faithful in the day
[00:28:41] [SPEAKER_04]: to day because it can get
[00:28:42] [SPEAKER_04]: hard when you're just doing
[00:28:44] [SPEAKER_04]: your job, you're taking care
[00:28:45] [SPEAKER_04]: of your kids, you're going to
[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_04]: the same job every day,
[00:28:47] [SPEAKER_04]: you're going to school
[00:28:49] [SPEAKER_04]: and the everyday ho hum can get
[00:28:51] [SPEAKER_04]: tiring but the Lord is
[00:28:53] [SPEAKER_04]: watching us.
[00:28:54] [SPEAKER_04]: You know and he's wanting us to
[00:28:55] [SPEAKER_04]: be the light in those
[00:28:57] [SPEAKER_04]: different situations.
[00:28:58] [SPEAKER_04]: He wants us to draw closer to
[00:29:00] [SPEAKER_04]: him.
[00:29:00] [SPEAKER_04]: He wants us to take each job
[00:29:02] [SPEAKER_04]: as unto the Lord that we're
[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_04]: working hard to serve and
[00:29:05] [SPEAKER_04]: please the Lord.
[00:29:07] [SPEAKER_04]: And so that one day the Lord
[00:29:08] [SPEAKER_04]: comes back soon which I
[00:29:10] [SPEAKER_04]: believe he is.
[00:29:11] [SPEAKER_04]: He will find us with these
[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_04]: characteristics.
[00:29:14] [SPEAKER_04]: You know as best as we can
[00:29:15] [SPEAKER_04]: we're living out these
[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_04]: characteristics in front of the
[00:29:18] [SPEAKER_04]: Lord so that when he finds us
[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_04]: he doesn't find us hopefully
[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_04]: doing things that we shouldn't
[00:29:23] [SPEAKER_04]: be doing but instead living for
[00:29:25] [SPEAKER_04]: the Lord.
[00:29:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Rachel Ruth for just a
[00:29:27] [SPEAKER_02]: second, you know near the end
[00:29:28] [SPEAKER_02]: of the section here you talk
[00:29:30] [SPEAKER_02]: about the fact that in
[00:29:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Gain Rebecca knew a lot more
[00:29:35] [SPEAKER_02]: about Isaac than Isaac knew
[00:29:36] [SPEAKER_02]: about Rebecca which I thought
[00:29:38] [SPEAKER_02]: was a great insight but your
[00:29:40] [SPEAKER_02]: mother early on in the
[00:29:41] [SPEAKER_02]: introduction tells the story
[00:29:42] [SPEAKER_02]: of being a little bit nervous
[00:29:43] [SPEAKER_02]: on her wedding day of
[00:29:45] [SPEAKER_02]: meeting of course and coming
[00:29:46] [SPEAKER_02]: down the stairs for Danny
[00:29:48] [SPEAKER_02]: of course obviously your
[00:29:50] [SPEAKER_02]: father.
[00:29:51] [SPEAKER_02]: So I thought there was an
[00:29:51] [SPEAKER_02]: interesting connection
[00:29:52] [SPEAKER_02]: between your mother's story
[00:29:54] [SPEAKER_02]: and then what you derived
[00:29:55] [SPEAKER_02]: out of the scriptures so I
[00:29:57] [SPEAKER_02]: thought that was an
[00:29:57] [SPEAKER_02]: interesting connection point
[00:29:58] [SPEAKER_02]: that I hadn't seen until I
[00:30:00] [SPEAKER_02]: read all the way through the
[00:30:00] [SPEAKER_02]: book.
[00:30:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh I know it's so neat
[00:30:04] [SPEAKER_04]: because go ahead.
[00:30:05] [SPEAKER_04]: Mom?
[00:30:06] [SPEAKER_04]: Go ahead Rachel.
[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh sorry I thought.
[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_04]: Well I just thought it was
[00:30:09] [SPEAKER_04]: so sweet because if you
[00:30:10] [SPEAKER_04]: think about Rebecca sitting
[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_04]: on that camel traveling for
[00:30:13] [SPEAKER_04]: 450 miles not knowing
[00:30:16] [SPEAKER_04]: I've never met Isaac and
[00:30:18] [SPEAKER_04]: she would want to hear about
[00:30:20] [SPEAKER_04]: him and you know asking the
[00:30:21] [SPEAKER_04]: servant so what is he like
[00:30:23] [SPEAKER_04]: what does he look like and
[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_04]: knowing that Isaac is
[00:30:26] [SPEAKER_04]: expecting you know waiting for
[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_04]: to come and knowing that the
[00:30:29] [SPEAKER_04]: servant had gone to look for
[00:30:31] [SPEAKER_04]: a bride and so excited and
[00:30:33] [SPEAKER_04]: she's excited and we were
[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_04]: thinking you know on that
[00:30:36] [SPEAKER_04]: journey she probably began to
[00:30:37] [SPEAKER_04]: fall in love with him and
[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_04]: before she even met him
[00:30:41] [SPEAKER_04]: just being so excited to meet
[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_04]: him and my mom can tell her
[00:30:45] [SPEAKER_04]: side of the story with just
[00:30:47] [SPEAKER_04]: being a bride and waiting for
[00:30:48] [SPEAKER_04]: my dad and there's so many
[00:30:52] [SPEAKER_04]: similarities but it's just a
[00:30:54] [SPEAKER_04]: thrilling thought to think
[00:30:56] [SPEAKER_04]: that Jesus is so excited to be
[00:30:59] [SPEAKER_04]: with us face to face when we
[00:31:00] [SPEAKER_04]: see him in heaven but that we
[00:31:02] [SPEAKER_04]: can prepare as his bride even
[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_04]: now.
[00:31:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes and I want to get your
[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_02]: comments too.
[00:31:06] [SPEAKER_05]: One of the things yeah Kirby
[00:31:08] [SPEAKER_05]: if you know because Rebecca
[00:31:09] [SPEAKER_05]: had to travel about 400 miles
[00:31:11] [SPEAKER_05]: from Harron where she lived with
[00:31:13] [SPEAKER_05]: her family to where Isaac was
[00:31:16] [SPEAKER_05]: down in Hepburn and so she was
[00:31:18] [SPEAKER_05]: on a camel for 400 miles the
[00:31:20] [SPEAKER_05]: servant was with her and you
[00:31:21] [SPEAKER_05]: know during that time maybe
[00:31:22] [SPEAKER_05]: three months journey four
[00:31:24] [SPEAKER_05]: months journey the servant
[00:31:25] [SPEAKER_05]: was telling her all about Isaac
[00:31:26] [SPEAKER_05]: what he looked like how wealthy
[00:31:28] [SPEAKER_05]: was all the things that were
[00:31:30] [SPEAKER_05]: going to be hers the tents
[00:31:32] [SPEAKER_05]: and the herds and the jewels
[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_05]: and the linens and the
[00:31:35] [SPEAKER_05]: servants and and so you know
[00:31:37] [SPEAKER_05]: it's of what Rachel said
[00:31:38] [SPEAKER_05]: that even before she met Isaac
[00:31:40] [SPEAKER_05]: she must have already been
[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_05]: falling in love with him
[00:31:43] [SPEAKER_05]: because of the way the
[00:31:44] [SPEAKER_05]: servant described him to her
[00:31:46] [SPEAKER_05]: and so in this life when we
[00:31:48] [SPEAKER_05]: put our faith in Jesus and we
[00:31:50] [SPEAKER_05]: come to the cross confess our
[00:31:51] [SPEAKER_05]: sin tell God we're sorry
[00:31:52] [SPEAKER_05]: all the wrong things we've done
[00:31:54] [SPEAKER_05]: ask him to forgive us come
[00:31:55] [SPEAKER_05]: into our hearts and the Holy
[00:31:57] [SPEAKER_05]: Spirit comes into us then the
[00:31:59] [SPEAKER_05]: Holy Spirit begins to teach
[00:32:00] [SPEAKER_05]: us that the Holy servant he
[00:32:02] [SPEAKER_05]: begins to teach us about Jesus
[00:32:05] [SPEAKER_05]: and so we read our Bibles
[00:32:06] [SPEAKER_05]: and we see who Jesus is and
[00:32:08] [SPEAKER_05]: what he's like how wealthy
[00:32:09] [SPEAKER_05]: is that everything in the
[00:32:11] [SPEAKER_05]: universe all authority has
[00:32:12] [SPEAKER_05]: been placed under his feet
[00:32:14] [SPEAKER_05]: that he's the Lord of glory
[00:32:15] [SPEAKER_05]: he has gifts to give us the
[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_05]: spiritual gifts as well as
[00:32:19] [SPEAKER_05]: other blessings that you
[00:32:21] [SPEAKER_05]: know all the blessings in
[00:32:22] [SPEAKER_05]: heavenly places and and so
[00:32:24] [SPEAKER_05]: even before we meet Jesus
[00:32:25] [SPEAKER_05]: face to face we we are in
[00:32:28] [SPEAKER_05]: love with him Peter said
[00:32:29] [SPEAKER_05]: yes precious and and so I
[00:32:33] [SPEAKER_05]: think on this journey is the
[00:32:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Holy Spirit the Holy servant
[00:32:36] [SPEAKER_05]: that builds up that
[00:32:37] [SPEAKER_05]: anticipation and expectation
[00:32:39] [SPEAKER_05]: then that comes to the point
[00:32:40] [SPEAKER_05]: if we're in love with Jesus
[00:32:42] [SPEAKER_05]: and we just are blown away
[00:32:44] [SPEAKER_05]: by how wonderfully is
[00:32:45] [SPEAKER_05]: then for me I want to be
[00:32:49] [SPEAKER_05]: pleasing to him so it would
[00:32:51] [SPEAKER_05]: be like meeting my husband
[00:32:52] [SPEAKER_05]: you know at the end of the
[00:32:53] [SPEAKER_05]: aisle on our wedding day
[00:32:54] [SPEAKER_05]: and wanting to know am I
[00:32:56] [SPEAKER_05]: going to be beautiful enough
[00:32:57] [SPEAKER_05]: am I going to be all that
[00:32:59] [SPEAKER_05]: my husband longed for because
[00:33:00] [SPEAKER_05]: he was he had been waiting
[00:33:02] [SPEAKER_05]: for a long time he was 29
[00:33:03] [SPEAKER_05]: when we got married and
[00:33:04] [SPEAKER_05]: and but as soon as I walked
[00:33:06] [SPEAKER_05]: down the aisle I looked at
[00:33:07] [SPEAKER_05]: the grin on his face it was
[00:33:10] [SPEAKER_05]: okay you know that that he
[00:33:11] [SPEAKER_05]: was delighted with who I was
[00:33:13] [SPEAKER_05]: and the way I looked and I
[00:33:15] [SPEAKER_05]: think the same thing
[00:33:16] [SPEAKER_05]: Rachel referred to the fact
[00:33:17] [SPEAKER_05]: that she feels any moment
[00:33:19] [SPEAKER_05]: we're going to see Jesus
[00:33:20] [SPEAKER_05]: and Kirby I believe we're
[00:33:22] [SPEAKER_05]: living at the end of the
[00:33:23] [SPEAKER_05]: end of the end I agree
[00:33:24] [SPEAKER_05]: at any moment that Trump
[00:33:26] [SPEAKER_05]: it's going to blow and Jesus
[00:33:28] [SPEAKER_05]: is going to come back with
[00:33:29] [SPEAKER_05]: a loud shout and we're going
[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_05]: to be caught up to be with
[00:33:31] [SPEAKER_05]: him at that moment I don't
[00:33:33] [SPEAKER_05]: want to have any regrets
[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_02]: you take a break and we'll
[00:33:36] [SPEAKER_02]: continue our conversation
[00:33:37] [SPEAKER_02]: about preparing to meet Jesus
[00:33:39] [SPEAKER_02]: a 21 day challenge to move
[00:33:41] [SPEAKER_02]: from salvation to transformation
[00:33:42] [SPEAKER_02]: we'll be back right after this
[00:33:56] [SPEAKER_00]: you're listening to point of view
[00:33:58] [SPEAKER_00]: your listener supported
[00:34:00] [SPEAKER_00]: source for truth
[00:34:01] [SPEAKER_02]: really sad with us for a few
[00:34:02] [SPEAKER_02]: more minutes and Graham
[00:34:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Lotz as well as Rachel Ruth
[00:34:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Lotz right let me just
[00:34:06] [SPEAKER_02]: mention that the book is
[00:34:07] [SPEAKER_02]: entitled preparing to meet
[00:34:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Jesus you can find it in
[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_02]: your local bookstore we have
[00:34:12] [SPEAKER_02]: information about it if you
[00:34:13] [SPEAKER_02]: would like to order it 21 day
[00:34:15] [SPEAKER_02]: challenge to move from salvation
[00:34:17] [SPEAKER_02]: to transformation each one of
[00:34:19] [SPEAKER_02]: the days has a very good
[00:34:21] [SPEAKER_02]: analysis of a particular
[00:34:24] [SPEAKER_02]: passage in Genesis 24 it then
[00:34:26] [SPEAKER_02]: ends with a day challenge
[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_02]: and then with a prayer so
[00:34:30] [SPEAKER_02]: there's some great resources
[00:34:32] [SPEAKER_02]: and I would commend it to you
[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_02]: as we talk about the things
[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_02]: that we need to develop in
[00:34:38] [SPEAKER_02]: our own lives and certainly
[00:34:40] [SPEAKER_02]: how we can learn that
[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_02]: vicariously from the story of
[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Rebecca but and I thought we
[00:34:45] [SPEAKER_02]: might come back for just a
[00:34:46] [SPEAKER_02]: minute because we were talking
[00:34:48] [SPEAKER_02]: about eventually appearing
[00:34:49] [SPEAKER_02]: before Jesus and the
[00:34:52] [SPEAKER_02]: introduction sort of ends
[00:34:53] [SPEAKER_02]: where you're talking about the
[00:34:55] [SPEAKER_02]: fact that I can rest assured
[00:34:57] [SPEAKER_02]: of the heavenly fathers love
[00:34:59] [SPEAKER_02]: for us but will we be a bride
[00:35:01] [SPEAKER_02]: that is pleasing to his son
[00:35:03] [SPEAKER_02]: well you say we don't have to
[00:35:05] [SPEAKER_02]: guess we don't have to live in
[00:35:07] [SPEAKER_02]: fear that he might be
[00:35:08] [SPEAKER_02]: disappointed in us and I think
[00:35:10] [SPEAKER_02]: that brings us to a question
[00:35:12] [SPEAKER_02]: that I've found a lot of
[00:35:13] [SPEAKER_02]: non-christians dealing with
[00:35:16] [SPEAKER_02]: because they if they really
[00:35:17] [SPEAKER_02]: understand who God is they say
[00:35:19] [SPEAKER_02]: well then I really need to be
[00:35:21] [SPEAKER_02]: righteous before God but what
[00:35:23] [SPEAKER_02]: little I know about the Bible
[00:35:25] [SPEAKER_02]: it refers to my good works
[00:35:26] [SPEAKER_02]: are like filthy rags so
[00:35:28] [SPEAKER_02]: how do I put on a robe if you
[00:35:32] [SPEAKER_02]: will how do I put on garments
[00:35:34] [SPEAKER_02]: so that I will be like the
[00:35:36] [SPEAKER_02]: bride that the bride groom
[00:35:38] [SPEAKER_02]: accepts can you speak to that
[00:35:41] [SPEAKER_05]: I can it's the most beautiful
[00:35:43] [SPEAKER_05]: thing and Rachel could probably
[00:35:45] [SPEAKER_05]: do this too but the first
[00:35:46] [SPEAKER_05]: characteristic that she pulled
[00:35:47] [SPEAKER_05]: out in this book which I had
[00:35:49] [SPEAKER_05]: overlooked I just hadn't thought
[00:35:51] [SPEAKER_05]: about it but Abraham told the
[00:35:52] [SPEAKER_05]: servant to find a bride from
[00:35:54] [SPEAKER_05]: his family up in Heron so the
[00:35:56] [SPEAKER_05]: first characteristic of the
[00:35:58] [SPEAKER_05]: bride is that she had to be a
[00:35:59] [SPEAKER_05]: family member so the first
[00:36:01] [SPEAKER_05]: thing that God is looking for
[00:36:02] [SPEAKER_05]: when it comes to a bride for
[00:36:03] [SPEAKER_05]: his son he wants somebody
[00:36:05] [SPEAKER_05]: who's a member of his family
[00:36:06] [SPEAKER_05]: who's been born again and just
[00:36:08] [SPEAKER_05]: as I said earlier somebody who's
[00:36:09] [SPEAKER_05]: put their faith in Jesus as
[00:36:11] [SPEAKER_05]: trusted Jesus as Savior and
[00:36:13] [SPEAKER_05]: Lord and Kirby you know none of
[00:36:14] [SPEAKER_05]: us are righteous all of our
[00:36:16] [SPEAKER_05]: things are filthy rags we
[00:36:17] [SPEAKER_05]: could never live up to the
[00:36:18] [SPEAKER_05]: standards of perfection we can
[00:36:20] [SPEAKER_05]: never be who we were created
[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_05]: to be and without sin but
[00:36:25] [SPEAKER_05]: that's why God sent Jesus to
[00:36:27] [SPEAKER_05]: down the cross to take away
[00:36:29] [SPEAKER_05]: our sin so when we trust
[00:36:30] [SPEAKER_05]: Jesus as our savior and we
[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_05]: claim his death as God
[00:36:34] [SPEAKER_05]: sacrificed for our sin then
[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_05]: he cleanses us he forgives us of
[00:36:37] [SPEAKER_05]: our sin we ask him to come into
[00:36:39] [SPEAKER_05]: our hearts he comes in and the
[00:36:41] [SPEAKER_05]: person of the Holy Spirit
[00:36:42] [SPEAKER_05]: we're born again at that moment
[00:36:44] [SPEAKER_05]: we become a child of God so right
[00:36:46] [SPEAKER_05]: there you know that God is
[00:36:48] [SPEAKER_05]: going to accept you not in
[00:36:50] [SPEAKER_05]: yourself but because you belong
[00:36:51] [SPEAKER_05]: to his son and then because of
[00:36:53] [SPEAKER_05]: his grace and what he has done
[00:36:56] [SPEAKER_05]: for us in our salvation and
[00:36:58] [SPEAKER_05]: bringing us into his family then
[00:37:00] [SPEAKER_05]: for me I want to grow in my
[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_05]: beauty my spiritual beauty I want
[00:37:05] [SPEAKER_05]: to be someone that develops my
[00:37:08] [SPEAKER_05]: faith it's a journey you know
[00:37:09] [SPEAKER_05]: when you put your trust in Jesus at
[00:37:11] [SPEAKER_05]: the cross you don't all of a
[00:37:13] [SPEAKER_05]: sudden become this incredible
[00:37:14] [SPEAKER_05]: Christian it's a journey it's
[00:37:16] [SPEAKER_05]: it's you walk by faith and that's
[00:37:18] [SPEAKER_05]: where Rachel Ruth has pulled out
[00:37:20] [SPEAKER_05]: some of these characteristics that
[00:37:21] [SPEAKER_05]: are so meaningful because they're
[00:37:24] [SPEAKER_05]: very authentic down to earth
[00:37:27] [SPEAKER_05]: they're not super spiritual you
[00:37:29] [SPEAKER_05]: know they're not pious they're
[00:37:30] [SPEAKER_05]: things that each one of us can
[00:37:31] [SPEAKER_02]: work on Rachel Ruth let me come
[00:37:33] [SPEAKER_02]: to you for a few minutes because
[00:37:34] [SPEAKER_02]: of course this book has been out
[00:37:35] [SPEAKER_02]: for some time and I know you've
[00:37:38] [SPEAKER_02]: been teaching a bible study and I
[00:37:40] [SPEAKER_02]: am sure that you've been
[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_02]: teaching through that so first of
[00:37:43] [SPEAKER_02]: all we have a lot of people that
[00:37:44] [SPEAKER_02]: listen and maybe are looking for a
[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_02]: small group study or maybe even
[00:37:48] [SPEAKER_02]: just a personal quiet time
[00:37:50] [SPEAKER_02]: devotional how can individuals use
[00:37:52] [SPEAKER_02]: what you put together in their
[00:37:54] [SPEAKER_02]: either individual life or their
[00:37:56] [SPEAKER_04]: corporate life well you can it's
[00:38:00] [SPEAKER_04]: a 21 day challenge and so you can
[00:38:02] [SPEAKER_04]: do it individually 20 for 21
[00:38:05] [SPEAKER_04]: days straight you can read you know
[00:38:07] [SPEAKER_04]: chapter a day and just focus on that
[00:38:09] [SPEAKER_04]: characteristic you can stretch it
[00:38:10] [SPEAKER_04]: out do want to week and I know you
[00:38:13] [SPEAKER_04]: can do it with a small group you
[00:38:15] [SPEAKER_04]: know or a bible study where you
[00:38:16] [SPEAKER_04]: meet and you read through the
[00:38:18] [SPEAKER_04]: chapter and study the passage and
[00:38:21] [SPEAKER_04]: and then work on that
[00:38:22] [SPEAKER_04]: characteristic you know so you
[00:38:25] [SPEAKER_04]: could do it once a week that way
[00:38:27] [SPEAKER_04]: but I think it's a wonderful thing
[00:38:30] [SPEAKER_04]: I've gotten so many texts and
[00:38:31] [SPEAKER_04]: emails from different people that have
[00:38:33] [SPEAKER_04]: read this and been so surprised how
[00:38:36] [SPEAKER_04]: the Lord has revealed things in their
[00:38:38] [SPEAKER_04]: heart that they need to work on or
[00:38:40] [SPEAKER_04]: fix and and and I want to say this
[00:38:42] [SPEAKER_04]: that it's not it's not to be a
[00:38:44] [SPEAKER_04]: drudgery it's not something oh
[00:38:46] [SPEAKER_04]: here's a list of rules and I gotta
[00:38:47] [SPEAKER_04]: live by this and it should be out of
[00:38:50] [SPEAKER_04]: our love for the Lord it's like we
[00:38:52] [SPEAKER_04]: just it's like Rebecca was still
[00:38:54] [SPEAKER_04]: excited to meet Isaac and because
[00:38:56] [SPEAKER_04]: she was she loved him and the same
[00:38:59] [SPEAKER_04]: for us that we love Jesus so much
[00:39:01] [SPEAKER_04]: it's the least we can do to work on
[00:39:02] [SPEAKER_04]: these things in and I'm working on
[00:39:05] [SPEAKER_04]: them but you know it's a daily thing
[00:39:06] [SPEAKER_04]: we just have to continually become
[00:39:10] [SPEAKER_04]: better you know just to glorify him
[00:39:13] [SPEAKER_04]: not because he hasn't accepted us
[00:39:14] [SPEAKER_04]: because that was done at the cross
[00:39:16] [SPEAKER_04]: and when we we've placed our faith
[00:39:17] [SPEAKER_04]: in Jesus but but the rest of it is
[00:39:20] [SPEAKER_04]: just out of our love for him
[00:39:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Rachel Ruth you know we've
[00:39:23] [SPEAKER_02]: prayed for your mom in the past
[00:39:25] [SPEAKER_02]: for health I've understood that you
[00:39:26] [SPEAKER_02]: had a health crisis can we pray for
[00:39:28] [SPEAKER_02]: you as well
[00:39:30] [SPEAKER_04]: yes um I two and a half years ago just
[00:39:33] [SPEAKER_04]: long story short went in for routine
[00:39:36] [SPEAKER_04]: stress test where you go on a treadmill
[00:39:38] [SPEAKER_04]: you run on a treadmill and um and it was
[00:39:40] [SPEAKER_04]: a really disastrous situation in the
[00:39:43] [SPEAKER_04]: room and um and I ended up walking
[00:39:46] [SPEAKER_04]: out with chest pain and was like what
[00:39:48] [SPEAKER_04]: is this you know and then four days
[00:39:49] [SPEAKER_04]: later I mean I was 47 I was healthy
[00:39:52] [SPEAKER_04]: exercise all the time when I had to
[00:39:55] [SPEAKER_04]: go to the ER four days later and um
[00:39:57] [SPEAKER_04]: and ended up having my first
[00:39:59] [SPEAKER_04]: scad heart attack spontaneous
[00:40:01] [SPEAKER_04]: coronary artery dissection where
[00:40:04] [SPEAKER_04]: your artery on the inside literally
[00:40:06] [SPEAKER_04]: shreds and so and um and that one wasn't
[00:40:09] [SPEAKER_04]: it was so painful and uh they kept me
[00:40:12] [SPEAKER_04]: in the hospital and then the next day
[00:40:14] [SPEAKER_04]: I had a second scad heart attack that
[00:40:16] [SPEAKER_04]: was so severe they said you can't
[00:40:18] [SPEAKER_04]: find a worse
[00:40:19] [SPEAKER_04]: scad heart attack you know if
[00:40:20] [SPEAKER_04]: doctors share information it was
[00:40:22] [SPEAKER_04]: it was so bad I shouldn't I shouldn't
[00:40:24] [SPEAKER_04]: be here in God
[00:40:26] [SPEAKER_04]: supernaturally saved my life and so I
[00:40:29] [SPEAKER_04]: could have met Jesus that day that
[00:40:30] [SPEAKER_04]: could have been it and and so it's not
[00:40:33] [SPEAKER_04]: just when he returns to rapture the
[00:40:35] [SPEAKER_04]: church but but it could be at our death
[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_04]: you know we don't know when that day
[00:40:39] [SPEAKER_04]: is and and just to live every day like
[00:40:42] [SPEAKER_04]: it's your last and to glorify him and
[00:40:45] [SPEAKER_04]: and life is hard like it doesn't just
[00:40:47] [SPEAKER_04]: stop with the heart attacks my life
[00:40:48] [SPEAKER_04]: is still hard you know and and yet
[00:40:50] [SPEAKER_04]: um I want to live for the Lord
[00:40:53] [SPEAKER_04]: despite all the things that enemy
[00:40:55] [SPEAKER_04]: throws at us he is my joy the Lord is
[00:40:58] [SPEAKER_04]: the reason to live and um and so I just
[00:41:01] [SPEAKER_04]: want to encourage anybody else that's
[00:41:03] [SPEAKER_04]: out there suffering with physical
[00:41:04] [SPEAKER_04]: problems it's so hard but but God walks
[00:41:07] [SPEAKER_04]: us through it and and helps us in our
[00:41:10] [SPEAKER_04]: journey you know before we go to
[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_04]: heaven and all that's gone
[00:41:13] [SPEAKER_02]: hmm and I won't have about a minute
[00:41:15] [SPEAKER_02]: left but I'd love to get some final
[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_02]: comments because if nothing else
[00:41:18] [SPEAKER_02]: both Jesus followers and this book
[00:41:21] [SPEAKER_02]: preparing to meet Jesus um it's been
[00:41:23] [SPEAKER_02]: great to have a mother daughter team
[00:41:26] [SPEAKER_05]: you know I've thoroughly enjoyed working
[00:41:28] [SPEAKER_05]: with Rachel Rooves and I did want to say
[00:41:29] [SPEAKER_05]: on this book that uh when Rebecca met Isaac
[00:41:32] [SPEAKER_05]: she as we said she's already in love
[00:41:34] [SPEAKER_05]: with him but but at the end of that
[00:41:35] [SPEAKER_05]: chapter it says that Isaac took her
[00:41:37] [SPEAKER_05]: into his mother's tent and he loved
[00:41:39] [SPEAKER_05]: her so that it's a love relationship
[00:41:41] [SPEAKER_05]: like Rachel said it's not a list of
[00:41:43] [SPEAKER_05]: do's and don'ts and that you have to
[00:41:44] [SPEAKER_05]: be this way or not be that way
[00:41:45] [SPEAKER_05]: but but it's a love relationship and
[00:41:49] [SPEAKER_05]: um you know that that's what makes it
[00:41:51] [SPEAKER_05]: a joy so that's what takes the drudgery
[00:41:53] [SPEAKER_05]: out of this that's what gives us a
[00:41:55] [SPEAKER_05]: reason to get up every morning to keep
[00:41:58] [SPEAKER_05]: looking up to look forward to seeing
[00:42:00] [SPEAKER_05]: our Savior face to face because we're in
[00:42:03] [SPEAKER_05]: love with him and he's in love with us
[00:42:05] [SPEAKER_05]: so um it's a beautiful story Kirby and
[00:42:08] [SPEAKER_05]: and I believe the Lord has put it there
[00:42:10] [SPEAKER_05]: in the Old Testament because um
[00:42:12] [SPEAKER_05]: he knows how it would apply to us in
[00:42:14] [SPEAKER_05]: our relationship with Jesus
[00:42:15] [SPEAKER_02]: again the earlier book Jesus followers
[00:42:17] [SPEAKER_02]: and this one preparing to meet Jesus
[00:42:19] [SPEAKER_02]: published by Multnomah you might be
[00:42:21] [SPEAKER_02]: able to find it in your local book
[00:42:22] [SPEAKER_02]: sure but we have a link to of course
[00:42:23] [SPEAKER_02]: and Graham lots and of course uh
[00:42:26] [SPEAKER_02]: angel ministries and all sorts of other
[00:42:28] [SPEAKER_02]: resources but uh and Rachel Ruth as
[00:42:30] [SPEAKER_02]: always it is great to have you on the
[00:42:32] [SPEAKER_02]: program hope we can do it again
[00:42:33] [SPEAKER_05]: sometime soon thank you so much Kirby
[00:42:36] [SPEAKER_05]: God bless you thank you that's all we
[00:42:39] [SPEAKER_02]: have for today and let me just again
[00:42:40] [SPEAKER_02]: encourage you if you find yourself
[00:42:42] [SPEAKER_02]: saying I didn't catch the title of the
[00:42:44] [SPEAKER_02]: book I don't know where to find it
[00:42:45] [SPEAKER_02]: we have information about that on our
[00:42:47] [SPEAKER_02]: website at pointofview.net
[00:42:49] [SPEAKER_02]: of course we have a democratic national
[00:42:51] [SPEAKER_02]: convention taking place we'll have a
[00:42:52] [SPEAKER_02]: lot of time tomorrow to talk about that
[00:42:54] [SPEAKER_02]: as well as on of course Friday's weekend
[00:42:57] [SPEAKER_02]: edition so I hope you'll take the time
[00:42:59] [SPEAKER_02]: to find the resources we've posted
[00:43:01] [SPEAKER_02]: and want to thank out Megan for help
[00:43:03] [SPEAKER_02]: engineering the program Steve thank
[00:43:05] [SPEAKER_02]: you for producing the program we'll
[00:43:06] [SPEAKER_02]: see you back here tomorrow right here
[00:43:07] [SPEAKER_02]: on point of view it almost seems like
[00:43:12] [SPEAKER_01]: we live in a different world from
[00:43:14] [SPEAKER_01]: many people in positions of authority
[00:43:17] [SPEAKER_01]: they say men can be women and women
[00:43:19] [SPEAKER_01]: men
[00:43:20] [SPEAKER_01]: people are prosecuted differently or
[00:43:22] [SPEAKER_01]: not at all depending on their politics
[00:43:25] [SPEAKER_01]: criminals are more valued and rewarded
[00:43:27] [SPEAKER_01]: than law-abiding citizens it's so
[00:43:31] [SPEAKER_01]: overwhelming so demoralizing you feel like
[00:43:34] [SPEAKER_01]: giving up but we can't we shouldn't we
[00:43:37] [SPEAKER_01]: must not as Winston Churchill said to
[00:43:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Britain in the darkest days of World
[00:43:42] [SPEAKER_01]: War two never give in never give in
[00:43:45] [SPEAKER_01]: never never never never yield to force
[00:43:48] [SPEAKER_01]: never yield to the apparently
[00:43:50] [SPEAKER_01]: overwhelming might of the enemy and
[00:43:53] [SPEAKER_01]: that's what we say to you today this is
[00:43:56] [SPEAKER_01]: not a time to give in but to step up
[00:43:59] [SPEAKER_01]: and join point of view in providing
[00:44:01] [SPEAKER_01]: clarity in the chaos we can't do it
[00:44:04] [SPEAKER_01]: alone but together with God's help
[00:44:07] [SPEAKER_01]: we will overcome the darkness
[00:44:10] [SPEAKER_01]: invest in biblical clarity today at
[00:44:13] [SPEAKER_01]: point of view dot net or call
[00:44:15] [SPEAKER_01]: 1-800-347-5151
[00:44:19] [SPEAKER_01]: point of view dot net and 800-347-5151
[00:44:28] [SPEAKER_01]: point of view is produced by point of view ministries
