[00:00:03] [SPEAKER_01]: The addition of Point of View and, of course, as you may be aware, the Democratic National

[00:00:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Convention is unfolding and certainly we'll talk about some of the speakers tonight and

[00:00:31] [SPEAKER_00]: throughout the week.

[00:00:32] [SPEAKER_00]: But in addition to that, we want to spend some time also talking about many other issues

[00:00:37] [SPEAKER_00]: apart from what has happened in the political sphere.

[00:00:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Chad Hinnings will be with us in about a half an hour.

[00:00:42] [SPEAKER_00]: He is a three-time Super Bowl champion, Air Force veteran, but more importantly an individual

[00:00:47] [SPEAKER_00]: has very much been involved in various outreaches.

[00:00:51] [SPEAKER_00]: One to promise keepers and there is this proclamation on Godly Masculinity so he'll be in studio

[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_00]: with us for about a half an hour to talk about that and some of the things that can be

[00:01:01] [SPEAKER_00]: done in the future to really develop a men's ministry in your church and to really encourage

[00:01:06] [SPEAKER_00]: men to be all they can in Jesus Christ.

[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Next we'll have Dr. Daniel Williams with us.

[00:01:12] [SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk about the Christ's centricity of the Christian faith, about the importance

[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_00]: of Christ and then we'll come back to some issues in the news because I have posted

[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_00]: quite a number of articles related to the fact that you need to be a little bit skeptical

[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_00]: about some of the fact checking as I've said before.

[00:01:28] [SPEAKER_00]: The fact checkers sometimes need to be fact checked themselves and we also have

[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_00]: some other rather interesting things that have developed both inside the convention center

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_00]: and outside but let's start with those that happen inside and that is tonight the theme

[00:01:45] [SPEAKER_00]: will be for the people and this will be an opportunity to hear from President Joe Biden.

[00:01:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Now six months ago he thought he'd be speaking Thursday night to accept the convention's

[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_00]: nomination as president.

[00:02:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Instead it's almost as if okay let's have him speak, get him out of the way, he can give

[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_00]: his farewell address or pass the baton on to certainly the next generation in particular

[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Kamala Harris and others.

[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_00]: So anyway he will be speaking, Joe Biden will be speaking, the former Secretary of

[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_00]: State Hillary Clinton will be speaking and they'll be a welcome from the Chicago

[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Mayor Brandon Johnson.

[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Tomorrow will be of course the bold vision and that's where you'll hear President Barack

[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Obama.

[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_00]: I've heard now that also Michelle Obama will speak and they'll be a welcome from the

[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Illinois Governor J.B.

[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Pritzker, second gentleman Doug Imhoff Wednesday a fight for our freedoms.

[00:02:40] [SPEAKER_00]: That's where you will hear from the Vice Presidential nominee Tim Walz as well as

[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_00]: the former President to Bill Clinton and Nancy Pelosi, Pete Buttigieg and a

[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_00]: number of others and of course on Thursday where you will have the acceptance by

[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Kamala Harris.

[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_00]: And so that is a rundown each day I'll try to give you a little bit of a sense of what

[00:03:02] [SPEAKER_00]: is coming up and also maybe a little bit of analysis as we will do tomorrow on what

[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_00]: actually took place and what speeches were given.

[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_00]: While we're talking about what happens inside because in a minute I want to talk

[00:03:13] [SPEAKER_00]: about some of the really bizarre things happening outside, we also have perhaps

[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_00]: the most awkward party platform in recent memory and that is that the Democratic

[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_00]: National Committee acknowledged that the document was actually passed or ratified

[00:03:31] [SPEAKER_00]: by the platform committee on July 16th.

[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_00]: If you go back and look at your calendar you'll realize that that is days before

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Joe Biden stepped down.

[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_00]: So you have a platform here that spends a fair amount of time talking about

[00:03:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Joe Biden when I think the goal has been at the convention to actually give him a

[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_00]: night to talk whatever he says and it will be interesting to see what kind of

[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_00]: speech he gives and then to move on.

[00:03:59] [SPEAKER_00]: But the platform focuses as it says on the priorities for Democrats up and down

[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_00]: the ballot, growing the economy to lower costs for families, tackling the

[00:04:09] [SPEAKER_00]: climate crisis, securing energy independence, closing the racial wealth gap

[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_00]: investing in small businesses, restoring Roe versus Wade as the law of the land,

[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_00]: protecting communities and on and on.

[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_00]: And so it goes through a number of things but it is kind of interesting in

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_00]: which it spends time saying this election is between the visions of

[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Donald Trump who sees the world from his country club and Mar-a-Lago and Joe

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Biden who sees it from the kitchen tables of Scranton like the one he grew up

[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_00]: around.

[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Well yes but he's not running now.

[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_00]: It is going to be a bit awkward and I think illustrates something else.

[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_00]: We've said that there has been almost an attempt to stay away from any kind of

[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_00]: policy statements and yet let's just be very honest we now have seen some.

[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Your first personnel picked by Kamala Harris, that's Tim Walz probably one

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_00]: of the most liberal of the governors in the United States.

[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_00]: First policy statement well that was the speech given last Friday about

[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_00]: price controls and again you can see that that kind of tips your hand on

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_00]: where she is going to be going in that regard.

[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_00]: We will certainly have lots to talk about in that regard but I thought for

[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_00]: just a minute I would take you outside mentally of the convention because

[00:05:28] [SPEAKER_00]: you first of all in one of the articles I have posted here from Politico

[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_00]: in which the protesters originally once Joe Biden was stepping down and

[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Kamala Harris was in the police there was a part of a pause from some of these

[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_00]: individuals that were actually wanting to protest what is happening in the

[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Gaza Strip and they thought about it for a little bit and they got together

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_00]: and they decided no full speed ahead.

[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_00]: If you actually read this article it'll talk about some of the protest.

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_00]: I found another article that has now got the pictures of some of these

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_00]: individuals.

[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Some of them are holding signs that say killer Kamala.

[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_00]: That one was one of the anti-Israel groups outside of the United

[00:06:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Center there in Chicago.

[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Have another sign that said globalize into FATA which again is the

[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_00]: attack on the Jewish nation and so again I think you're going to

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_00]: see protest maybe nothing like the protest in 1968 which those of us

[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_00]: who are older may remember but most others probably do not.

[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_00]: But we will see how that unfolds because again these protests will

[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_00]: certainly take place even though you no longer have Joe Biden running for

[00:06:45] [SPEAKER_00]: the presidency you have Kamala Harris.

[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_00]: One other thing I thought I'd mention if you haven't seen it by now

[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_00]: been a lot of posts about this.

[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Planned Parenthood and other organizations decided to offer

[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_00]: free abortions and free vasectomies at the Democratic National Committee.

[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_00]: As a matter of fact I might just point out to go one of these signs

[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_00]: here this is from X a Planned Parenthood.

[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Great Rivers all free vasectomy and medication abortions are filled

[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_00]: for our mobile health clinic in Chicago.

[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Check back soon we'll share the interest form link in case we have

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_00]: cancelization so right there in the convention outside of the

[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_00]: convention mobile health clinic providing free vasectomies medical

[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_00]: abortion this is again a wait list that people have to be in right

[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_00]: now and of course it illustrates once again the desire on the part

[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_00]: of Democrats to make abortion the key issue.

[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Now if you look at the Republican National Convention as we've pointed

[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_00]: out there was a little bit of a backing off yes it says we believe

[00:07:44] [SPEAKER_00]: the 14th Amendment to the Constitution guarantees that no

[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_00]: person can be denied life or liberty due without due process in the

[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_00]: states therefore free to pass laws protecting these rights goes on

[00:07:54] [SPEAKER_00]: to speak out against late term abortion variety of other things

[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_00]: but maybe isn't quite as strong as it was before but I did see one

[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_00]: of these talk shows where you had one of the panelists who said

[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_00]: look I've been with a national organization of women a lot of

[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_00]: my friends are pro choice so you know where I come on this issue

[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_00]: but this idea of offering free vasectomies and medical

[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_00]: abortions free medical abortions at the Democratic National

[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Convention she said is really quite ghoulish but nevertheless

[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_00]: those are just a few ideas of what is happening inside and

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_00]: outside the Democratic Convention come back to have a few more

[00:08:36] [SPEAKER_00]: updates and then of course to the bottom of the hour will be

[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_00]: talking with our friend Chad Hennings all that coming up

[00:08:42] [SPEAKER_00]: right after this.

[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_01]: This is Viewpoints with Kirby Anderson.

[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_00]: This week is the Democratic Convention and more Americans

[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_00]: will be paying attention to the upcoming elections.

[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_00]: The Olympics are over.

[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_00]: That means that many will be tuning in to learn more about the

[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_00]: candidates but so far the press hasn't been asking many

[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_00]: questions of substance or even allowed to ask many questions.

[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Here are three principles for you that all start with a letter

[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_00]: P. The first P is personality in an ideal world we would love

[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_00]: to have a governor or a member of Congress or president

[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_00]: who is warm humble and likable some are but most

[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_00]: aren't ambitious and driven people are the people most

[00:09:33] [SPEAKER_00]: likely to win elective office.

[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_00]: That is why you need to focus on the second P that is policy

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_00]: put policies will the candidate promote and implement that is

[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_00]: what will ultimately affect your family your church and society.

[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Fortunately there are voter guides and party platforms you

[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_00]: can and should consult.

[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes party platforms often have vague language and

[00:09:52] [SPEAKER_00]: platitudes but there are dozens and dozens of specific

[00:09:55] [SPEAKER_00]: policy recommendations.

[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Does the candidate agree with those policies if not why

[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_00]: not in the case of the presidential candidates both

[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_00]: campaigns this year have been quite involved in crafting

[00:10:06] [SPEAKER_00]: their party platforms.

[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_00]: A third P is personnel if you're voting for a candidate in an

[00:10:11] [SPEAKER_00]: executive position you should evaluate who they will

[00:10:14] [SPEAKER_00]: appoint to help them achieve their agenda.

[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_00]: The president for example can appoint 3000 to 5000 personnel

[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_00]: in the executive branch.

[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Each of the presidential candidates has picked a vice

[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_00]: presidential running mate who he or she picks provides a

[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_00]: window on the type of person who will be in their

[00:10:30] [SPEAKER_00]: administration as the adage goes personnel are

[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_00]: policy.

[00:10:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Although there are lots of talk about personalities right now

[00:10:37] [SPEAKER_00]: policy and personnel are more important in choosing a

[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_00]: candidate.

[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm Kirby Anderson and that's my point of view for a free

[00:10:47] [SPEAKER_01]: booklet on a biblical view of anti-Semitism go to view

[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_01]: points dot info slash anti-Semitism view points dot

[00:10:54] [SPEAKER_01]: info slash anti-Semitism.

[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_01]: You're listening to Point of View your listener supported

[00:11:02] [SPEAKER_01]: source for truth.

[00:11:04] [SPEAKER_00]: That was going to spray at least a few more minutes

[00:11:06] [SPEAKER_00]: talking about the Democratic Convention and we'll get back

[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_00]: to it a little bit later after some of the interviews we

[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_00]: have scheduled.

[00:11:11] [SPEAKER_00]: And that is because Chicago is so important because you

[00:11:15] [SPEAKER_00]: have really kind of a unique set of circumstances.

[00:11:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Are you ready for this 15000 journalists are expected to

[00:11:22] [SPEAKER_00]: descend on the city of Chicago most of whom are

[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_00]: already there as a matter of fact if you look outside

[00:11:28] [SPEAKER_00]: you see cables running everywhere because what they

[00:11:31] [SPEAKER_00]: basically did was take the arena that Michael Jordan

[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_00]: built as some people jokingly said and turned it into a

[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_00]: huge TV soundstage.

[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_00]: But in order to do that they had to take all those

[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_00]: various boxes for people that are oftentimes watching

[00:11:48] [SPEAKER_00]: basketball games and other things to now turn those

[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_00]: into various studios.

[00:11:53] [SPEAKER_00]: And so we have 15000 journalists not just of course

[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_00]: the ones you see on television but print

[00:11:58] [SPEAKER_00]: journalists journalists from all over the world.

[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_00]: And I thought it would be good to maybe mention one

[00:12:03] [SPEAKER_00]: more time as we get into this week that sometimes

[00:12:07] [SPEAKER_00]: indeed the journalists don't cover the story

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_00]: quite always as well as they might.

[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_00]: The objectivity that used to oftentimes be assumed

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_00]: even if sometimes it wasn't always practiced has

[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_00]: really been thrown out the window.

[00:12:23] [SPEAKER_00]: And so the hope was is that even if there isn't a

[00:12:26] [SPEAKER_00]: good coverage of some of the stories by the

[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_00]: journalist at least the fact checkers would do

[00:12:32] [SPEAKER_00]: their job and you can't even necessarily assume

[00:12:36] [SPEAKER_00]: that as well which is one of the reasons I actually

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_00]: have provided for you here a very good and it's

[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_00]: about four pages if you print it out the failure

[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_00]: of fact checking in an election year is especially

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_00]: painful.

[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_00]: And it comes from Beckett Adams.

[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_00]: He points out that we have kind of this slogan

[00:12:54] [SPEAKER_00]: heads Democrats win tails Republicans lose.

[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_00]: And he says you see it over and over.

[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I won't give you all the examples here

[00:13:02] [SPEAKER_00]: but I thought I would pick up a few.

[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_00]: And the first is is that up until recently you've

[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_00]: had most of the fact checking done on Donald Trump.

[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_00]: There's a very good reason for that.

[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Kamala Harris has not been giving many speeches

[00:13:18] [SPEAKER_00]: if she says anything at all.

[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_00]: It's off of a teleprompter she's not had a

[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_00]: sit down interview and of course let's face it

[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Donald Trump does exaggerate Donald Trump engages

[00:13:29] [SPEAKER_00]: in hyperbole Donald Trump also doesn't stick to a

[00:13:33] [SPEAKER_00]: teleprompter.

[00:13:35] [SPEAKER_00]: He says some things extemporaneously and it would

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_00]: be good if he would learn one of as one of these

[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_00]: statements instead of this was the greatest one of

[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_00]: the greatest.

[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_00]: This is the worst one of the worst.

[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not sure that that would help him with

[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_00]: some of the fact checkers but anyway let's get

[00:13:54] [SPEAKER_00]: into it in more detail.

[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_00]: One of the ones that NPR took him off for was

[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_00]: where he said you know a lot of bad things

[00:14:00] [SPEAKER_00]: happening.

[00:14:01] [SPEAKER_00]: You could end up with a depression of the 1929

[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_00]: variety which would be devastating took years

[00:14:06] [SPEAKER_00]: me really even then goes on to say took decades

[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_00]: to recover.

[00:14:10] [SPEAKER_00]: So NPR said no no no that's not right.

[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_00]: First of all there's nothing to suggest that a 1930

[00:14:14] [SPEAKER_00]: style depression is on the horizon in the United

[00:14:16] [SPEAKER_00]: States.

[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_00]: OK I hope you would like to say that two years

[00:14:20] [SPEAKER_00]: from now but OK we'll see and the depression

[00:14:22] [SPEAKER_00]: did not take many decades it ended in World War

[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_00]: two in 1941 and I'm thinking that's a little

[00:14:27] [SPEAKER_00]: tough there as well.

[00:14:29] [SPEAKER_00]: OK but that's one goes on to talk about it one

[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_00]: place he said that Joe Biden is a very angry man

[00:14:35] [SPEAKER_00]: he's not happy with Barack Obama Nancy Pelosi

[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_00]: and again NPR gives us well Trump can't really

[00:14:41] [SPEAKER_00]: speak to Biden state of mind and all this

[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_00]: and so that's a bit of trying to find

[00:14:47] [SPEAKER_00]: problems when maybe I think you would

[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_00]: obviously just say that's his perception and

[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_00]: he's certainly entitled to it never the

[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_00]: case it gets into more substantive things

[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_00]: where of course again the argument was that

[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_00]: you've heard from Donald Trump and from J.

[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Vance that the vice president Kamala Harris

[00:15:09] [SPEAKER_00]: has really wanted to get rid of private

[00:15:12] [SPEAKER_00]: health care and wanted to abolish coal

[00:15:15] [SPEAKER_00]: oil and natural gas of course you have

[00:15:17] [SPEAKER_00]: in this case CBS is White House corresponded

[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_00]: say that's none of that is true and

[00:15:22] [SPEAKER_00]: that's where you start saying OK now we got

[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_00]: her verbally on the other side because

[00:15:26] [SPEAKER_00]: let's face it Kamala Harris did support

[00:15:29] [SPEAKER_00]: the elimination of private health care

[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_00]: insurance all the way up to 2019 and we

[00:15:34] [SPEAKER_00]: know that from the various statements

[00:15:36] [SPEAKER_00]: that we have she also said during 2020

[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_00]: during the primary that there was no

[00:15:43] [SPEAKER_00]: question she would back or she would

[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_00]: actually back of the banning of fracking

[00:15:49] [SPEAKER_00]: I guess they need to say it that way and

[00:15:52] [SPEAKER_00]: so again I think it is true to say that

[00:15:54] [SPEAKER_00]: she did not vow to abolish coal oil and

[00:15:56] [SPEAKER_00]: natural gas but it also is unfair that

[00:15:59] [SPEAKER_00]: the fact check says none of that is true

[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_00]: when some of it is but I thought it in

[00:16:04] [SPEAKER_00]: with the last one because of all the

[00:16:06] [SPEAKER_00]: things to fact check the one that

[00:16:09] [SPEAKER_00]: seems to show up so often is the issue

[00:16:13] [SPEAKER_00]: of ending taxes on tips now a couple

[00:16:16] [SPEAKER_00]: weeks ago we pointed out that that was

[00:16:18] [SPEAKER_00]: something that was proposed by Donald

[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Trump and then now it has been proposed

[00:16:23] [SPEAKER_00]: by Kamala Harris and so it just for the

[00:16:27] [SPEAKER_00]: record the Trump campaign announced its

[00:16:29] [SPEAKER_00]: proposal to end taxes on tips back in

[00:16:32] [SPEAKER_00]: June and so when that took place CBS

[00:16:37] [SPEAKER_00]: News said former president Donald Trump's

[00:16:39] [SPEAKER_00]: vow to stop taxing tips would cost the

[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_00]: federal government up to 250 billion

[00:16:43] [SPEAKER_00]: dollars over 10 years according to a

[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_00]: nonpartisan watch group

[00:16:47] [SPEAKER_00]: okay it wasn't until August that when

[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_00]: then you have Kamala Harris and the

[00:16:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Harris campaign repackaging that and the

[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_00]: way CBS reported it then was vice

[00:16:58] [SPEAKER_00]: president Kamala Harris is rolling out

[00:17:00] [SPEAKER_00]: a new policy position saying she'll

[00:17:02] [SPEAKER_00]: fight to end taxes on tips for service

[00:17:04] [SPEAKER_00]: in hospital hospitality workers but

[00:17:07] [SPEAKER_00]: of course no mention of the fact that

[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_00]: that would also cost 250 billion

[00:17:11] [SPEAKER_00]: dollars if indeed you accept the view

[00:17:14] [SPEAKER_00]: of the nonpartisan watch group and

[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_00]: then you have the debate going on at CBS

[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_00]: with a White House correspondent as to

[00:17:21] [SPEAKER_00]: whether or not Donald Trump really came

[00:17:23] [SPEAKER_00]: up with the idea and then you get this

[00:17:27] [SPEAKER_00]: back and forth about some of these

[00:17:29] [SPEAKER_00]: kinds of issues little bit later in

[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_00]: this article we have for you then we

[00:17:33] [SPEAKER_00]: have the Los Angeles Times jumping in

[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_00]: arguing that really of course some

[00:17:39] [SPEAKER_00]: people want to argue that even though

[00:17:40] [SPEAKER_00]: she said it in August and Donald Trump

[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_00]: said in June actually she didn't take it

[00:17:44] [SPEAKER_00]: from him she came up with it on her own

[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_00]: okay but more importantly the argument

[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_00]: being made now in this particular

[00:17:52] [SPEAKER_00]: article in the Los Angeles Times is

[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_00]: quote the tax exemption for tips is a

[00:17:56] [SPEAKER_00]: crowd-pleaser but it doesn't stand up

[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_00]: to scrutiny

[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Trump's version and a bill introduced by

[00:18:02] [SPEAKER_00]: senator Ted Cruz and represented by

[00:18:04] [SPEAKER_00]: our endowments to put meat on the

[00:18:05] [SPEAKER_00]: bones are half baked whereas Kamala

[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Harris's paired hers with a proposal

[00:18:10] [SPEAKER_00]: to raise the federal minimum wage which

[00:18:13] [SPEAKER_00]: is a much better policy and then again

[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_00]: the argument by Beckett Adams is the

[00:18:20] [SPEAKER_00]: trouble with the column is is that this

[00:18:22] [SPEAKER_00]: analysis was written before the Harris

[00:18:24] [SPEAKER_00]: campaign had even released anything had

[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_00]: even put a proposal up there and

[00:18:30] [SPEAKER_00]: actually did a comparison between the

[00:18:33] [SPEAKER_00]: detailed Donald Trump proposal actually

[00:18:36] [SPEAKER_00]: also articulated in these particular

[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_00]: legislative bills put forward by Ted

[00:18:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Cruz and Byron Donald's and all he had to

[00:18:44] [SPEAKER_00]: work with was a single line from the

[00:18:47] [SPEAKER_00]: speech by Kamala Harris well we can go

[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_00]: through many other examples but I think

[00:18:52] [SPEAKER_00]: you get the point we have individuals

[00:18:54] [SPEAKER_00]: that are actually maybe using too much

[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_00]: of a fine tooth comb evaluating the

[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_00]: fact checking on the Republican side

[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_00]: whether it's JD Vance or Donald Trump

[00:19:05] [SPEAKER_00]: and it's a target-rich environment

[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll be willing to admit and almost an

[00:19:10] [SPEAKER_00]: unbelievable willingness to excuse any

[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_00]: kind of misstep or even a lack of policy

[00:19:15] [SPEAKER_00]: precision on the Democratic side with

[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Kamala Harris and Tim Walsh so we'll see

[00:19:21] [SPEAKER_00]: how this unfolds but if nothing else I

[00:19:24] [SPEAKER_00]: wanted to post that article for you

[00:19:25] [SPEAKER_00]: to read and I've only given you a

[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_00]: couple of examples but the one that

[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_00]: still makes me smile is I really don't

[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_00]: think that we're going to get a

[00:19:33] [SPEAKER_00]: removal of taxes on tips I think

[00:19:37] [SPEAKER_00]: these are rather bland and

[00:19:40] [SPEAKER_00]: unserious campaign statements on both

[00:19:43] [SPEAKER_00]: sides but the amount of fact checking

[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_00]: that has taken place is pretty amazing

[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_00]: to me well let's take a break and when

[00:19:52] [SPEAKER_00]: we come back we're going to talk about

[00:19:53] [SPEAKER_00]: this idea of godly masculinity and we

[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_00]: have this proclamation on godly

[00:19:59] [SPEAKER_00]: masculinity which has been issued by

[00:20:02] [SPEAKER_00]: promise keepers as well as other

[00:20:04] [SPEAKER_00]: groups like the national Hispanic

[00:20:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Christian Leadership Conference and a

[00:20:08] [SPEAKER_00]: variety of others and so we really want

[00:20:11] [SPEAKER_00]: to get into that in some detail one

[00:20:13] [SPEAKER_00]: because it's some issue that we've

[00:20:15] [SPEAKER_00]: talked about before here on point of

[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_00]: view but also because there is an

[00:20:19] [SPEAKER_00]: opportunity if you agree with this to

[00:20:21] [SPEAKER_00]: actually then sign it and be one of

[00:20:24] [SPEAKER_00]: the signers of the proclamation on

[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_00]: godly masculinity you can find that on

[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_00]: our website at point of view.net

[00:20:31] [SPEAKER_00]: as you go there you'll recognize

[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_00]: and we'll talk more about this in

[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_00]: the last second hour here of my three

[00:20:37] [SPEAKER_00]: P's to evaluate a candidate of any type

[00:20:41] [SPEAKER_00]: one P is of course personality but the

[00:20:45] [SPEAKER_00]: other two are policy and personnel what

[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_00]: kind of policies have been articulated

[00:20:50] [SPEAKER_00]: what kind of personnel are actually

[00:20:53] [SPEAKER_00]: going to be in those people's

[00:20:55] [SPEAKER_00]: administration which is especially true

[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_00]: if you're talking about a person in

[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_00]: an executive position a mayor a

[00:21:01] [SPEAKER_00]: governor or certainly a president so

[00:21:04] [SPEAKER_00]: we have some of that information

[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_00]: available to you on the website we have

[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_00]: information about Chad Hennings and

[00:21:10] [SPEAKER_00]: promise keepers and this proclamation so

[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I would encourage you to go there

[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_00]: read it over and as we talk about it

[00:21:16] [SPEAKER_00]: today perhaps you will want to sign it

[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_00]: pass it on to people in your church to

[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_00]: sign and maybe even begin to think

[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_00]: about how you could teach this and

[00:21:25] [SPEAKER_00]: implement it in your own church

[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_00]: we'll take a break be back with more

[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_00]: right after this. It almost seems like

[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_01]: we live in a different world from

[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_01]: many people in positions of authority

[00:21:36] [SPEAKER_01]: they say men can be women and women men

[00:21:39] [SPEAKER_01]: people are prosecuted differently or not

[00:21:42] [SPEAKER_01]: at all depending on their politics

[00:21:44] [SPEAKER_01]: criminals are more valued and rewarded

[00:21:47] [SPEAKER_01]: than law-abiding citizens it's so

[00:21:50] [SPEAKER_01]: overwhelming so demoralizing you feel

[00:21:53] [SPEAKER_01]: like giving up but we can't we shouldn't

[00:21:56] [SPEAKER_01]: we must not as Winston Churchill said

[00:21:59] [SPEAKER_01]: to Britain in the darkest days of

[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_01]: World War two never give in never give

[00:22:05] [SPEAKER_01]: in never never never never yield to force

[00:22:08] [SPEAKER_01]: never yield to the apparently

[00:22:10] [SPEAKER_01]: overwhelming might of the enemy and

[00:22:13] [SPEAKER_01]: that's what we say to you today this is

[00:22:16] [SPEAKER_01]: not a time to give in but to step up

[00:22:18] [SPEAKER_01]: and join point of view in providing

[00:22:21] [SPEAKER_01]: clarity in the chaos we can't do it

[00:22:24] [SPEAKER_01]: alone but together with God's help we

[00:22:27] [SPEAKER_01]: will overcome the darkness invest in

[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_01]: biblical clarity today at point of view

[00:22:33] [SPEAKER_01]: dot net or call one eight hundred three

[00:22:36] [SPEAKER_01]: four seven fifty one fifty one point of

[00:22:39] [SPEAKER_01]: view dot net and eight hundred three

[00:22:42] [SPEAKER_01]: four seven fifty one fifty one point of

[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_01]: view will continue after this you are

[00:22:58] [SPEAKER_01]: listening to point of view the opinions

[00:23:03] [SPEAKER_01]: expressed on point of view do not

[00:23:05] [SPEAKER_01]: necessarily reflect the views of the

[00:23:07] [SPEAKER_01]: management or staff of the station and

[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_01]: now here again is Kirby Anderson for

[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_00]: while we're going to be talking about

[00:23:14] [SPEAKER_00]: this issue of godly masculinity and that

[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_00]: is a topic we've addressed so many times

[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_00]: will also talk about the other part of

[00:23:20] [SPEAKER_00]: that when we've had Nancy pierce on

[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_00]: talking about the issue of toxic

[00:23:24] [SPEAKER_00]: masculinity and the need to really begin

[00:23:26] [SPEAKER_00]: to think biblically about this issue

[00:23:28] [SPEAKER_00]: we have a proclamation which I just

[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_00]: mentioned a minute ago you can find

[00:23:31] [SPEAKER_00]: that in the website and to really help

[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_00]: us understand some of this we have

[00:23:35] [SPEAKER_00]: again in studio Chad Hennings three times

[00:23:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Super Bowl champion Air Force veteran

[00:23:40] [SPEAKER_00]: an individual that went to the Air Force

[00:23:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Academy probably best known as a Dallas

[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_00]: cowboy but now of course works in

[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_00]: commercial real estate but again want

[00:23:48] [SPEAKER_00]: to thank him for the fact that he

[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_00]: flew 45 missions in support of

[00:23:51] [SPEAKER_00]: operation provide comfort and as an

[00:23:54] [SPEAKER_00]: individual that in the past actually has

[00:23:56] [SPEAKER_00]: been on promise keepers three books

[00:23:59] [SPEAKER_00]: it takes commitment rules of

[00:24:00] [SPEAKER_00]: engagement finding faith and purpose

[00:24:02] [SPEAKER_00]: in a disconnected world and forces

[00:24:04] [SPEAKER_00]: of character and Chad it is always

[00:24:06] [SPEAKER_00]: great to have you in studio it's always

[00:24:08] [SPEAKER_02]: great to be here Kirby with you let's

[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_00]: we can talk about of course this idea

[00:24:13] [SPEAKER_00]: of masculinity we are getting so many

[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_00]: conflicting views about what it means

[00:24:19] [SPEAKER_00]: to be a man and how to even think

[00:24:21] [SPEAKER_00]: about that biblically and so in some

[00:24:23] [SPEAKER_00]: respects that's why we are encouraging

[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_00]: people to read and hopefully sign this

[00:24:27] [SPEAKER_02]: proclamation yes it's promise keepers

[00:24:31] [SPEAKER_02]: has put this out because you know as

[00:24:34] [SPEAKER_02]: being around and engaged in men's

[00:24:36] [SPEAKER_02]: ministry for so many years we've seen

[00:24:39] [SPEAKER_02]: it pivot you know men today we talked

[00:24:43] [SPEAKER_02]: about you know we thought in the past

[00:24:45] [SPEAKER_02]: regarding covid and the pandemic etc but

[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_02]: we do we have a pandemic of isolation

[00:24:49] [SPEAKER_02]: amongst men today and it's difficult

[00:24:52] [SPEAKER_02]: at times for men to create

[00:24:53] [SPEAKER_02]: relationships and then without those

[00:24:55] [SPEAKER_02]: relationships without getting face to

[00:24:57] [SPEAKER_02]: face with your your brothers to talk

[00:24:59] [SPEAKER_02]: through issues in particular with the

[00:25:01] [SPEAKER_02]: next generation we have this aspect of

[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_02]: of not being able to understand what it

[00:25:08] [SPEAKER_02]: means to be a man who walks with God

[00:25:12] [SPEAKER_02]: who disciples others who walks out this

[00:25:15] [SPEAKER_02]: aspect of what biblical masculinity is

[00:25:17] [SPEAKER_02]: all about so we're there's so many

[00:25:19] [SPEAKER_02]: different challenges that men face

[00:25:21] [SPEAKER_02]: today and when you get to the core

[00:25:24] [SPEAKER_02]: of it a lot of them derive from this

[00:25:26] [SPEAKER_02]: aspect of who are we who we created as

[00:25:29] [SPEAKER_02]: men and what are where our identity lies

[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_00]: might just mention there's a whole

[00:25:34] [SPEAKER_00]: section on God design men to be masculine

[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_00]: what masculinity is and is not and even

[00:25:39] [SPEAKER_00]: some marching orders at the end but

[00:25:42] [SPEAKER_00]: since you were talking about that

[00:25:44] [SPEAKER_00]: loneliness I wrote a book a long time

[00:25:47] [SPEAKER_00]: ago about what I thought would be a

[00:25:49] [SPEAKER_00]: crisis of loneliness and at the time

[00:25:51] [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know we're going to have a

[00:25:51] [SPEAKER_00]: pandemic and lockdown but you could see

[00:25:54] [SPEAKER_00]: it even back there in the 1990s

[00:25:56] [SPEAKER_00]: when you guys were playing football

[00:25:58] [SPEAKER_00]: there were books coming out like a

[00:26:00] [SPEAKER_00]: bowling alone and the lonely American

[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_00]: male and the friendless American male

[00:26:05] [SPEAKER_00]: and all sorts of books that we're

[00:26:07] [SPEAKER_00]: saying we have a problem then and it's

[00:26:09] [SPEAKER_00]: a problem that really needed to be

[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_00]: addressed pretty significantly and

[00:26:14] [SPEAKER_00]: that's one of the reasons why I think

[00:26:15] [SPEAKER_00]: promise keepers and other men's

[00:26:17] [SPEAKER_00]: ministries finally began to take off

[00:26:18] [SPEAKER_02]: yes because they they identified the

[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_02]: need that men need to be in

[00:26:24] [SPEAKER_02]: relationships you know our brains are

[00:26:26] [SPEAKER_02]: wired differently than females

[00:26:27] [SPEAKER_02]: females it's natural for them they need

[00:26:30] [SPEAKER_02]: that aspect they go in and have a

[00:26:32] [SPEAKER_02]: conversation it's like my wife has

[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_02]: printed on her forehead you know tell

[00:26:36] [SPEAKER_02]: me you know everybody just you know

[00:26:38] [SPEAKER_02]: that they're open their transparent

[00:26:40] [SPEAKER_02]: and immediately there they've been the

[00:26:42] [SPEAKER_02]: best friends even though they just

[00:26:43] [SPEAKER_02]: met for years but men are quite the

[00:26:46] [SPEAKER_02]: opposite their intensities of that

[00:26:48] [SPEAKER_02]: where we there's an aspect of lack

[00:26:50] [SPEAKER_02]: of trust there's a lack of you know

[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_02]: sometimes empathy and we grew up I

[00:26:55] [SPEAKER_02]: grew up in that generation I'll call

[00:26:56] [SPEAKER_02]: the John Wayne generation where

[00:26:58] [SPEAKER_02]: anything issue hate get over it

[00:27:00] [SPEAKER_02]: mm-hmm cowboy up yeah you know pick

[00:27:02] [SPEAKER_02]: yourself up dust yourself off keep on

[00:27:04] [SPEAKER_02]: keeping on and there's some aspects

[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_02]: which are important for that aspect

[00:27:09] [SPEAKER_02]: of resiliency but to maintain that

[00:27:11] [SPEAKER_02]: homogenous relationship with others as

[00:27:13] [SPEAKER_02]: well as our identity with God we have

[00:27:15] [SPEAKER_02]: to be able to be open and transparent

[00:27:18] [SPEAKER_02]: and be able to say we do struggle in

[00:27:21] [SPEAKER_00]: certain areas well and again sometimes

[00:27:22] [SPEAKER_00]: when you're looking for a role model

[00:27:24] [SPEAKER_00]: like you said you see a John Wayne all

[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_00]: by himself and you see

[00:27:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Sylvester Stallone all by himself

[00:27:30] [SPEAKER_00]: of course you have a lone ranger even he

[00:27:32] [SPEAKER_00]: had taunto but still the bottom line is

[00:27:34] [SPEAKER_00]: you have that kind of mindset so you

[00:27:36] [SPEAKER_00]: say well then maybe we could model it

[00:27:38] [SPEAKER_00]: differently in the church and as a

[00:27:40] [SPEAKER_00]: person that occasionally speaks in a

[00:27:41] [SPEAKER_00]: seminar I think there's one mistake we

[00:27:43] [SPEAKER_00]: made years ago and that is we told

[00:27:45] [SPEAKER_00]: pastors try not to develop any really

[00:27:47] [SPEAKER_00]: close relationships because you might

[00:27:49] [SPEAKER_00]: look like you're playing favorites in

[00:27:51] [SPEAKER_00]: the congregation

[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_00]: so a typical guy goes into church and

[00:27:54] [SPEAKER_00]: there's the pastor and he doesn't have

[00:27:55] [SPEAKER_00]: any friends and he does not necessarily

[00:27:57] [SPEAKER_00]: reaching out to many people

[00:27:59] [SPEAKER_00]: and we set the wrong set of role models

[00:28:02] [SPEAKER_02]: for them haven't we exactly and that's

[00:28:04] [SPEAKER_02]: the biggest

[00:28:05] [SPEAKER_02]: point Kirby that that I can emphasize

[00:28:07] [SPEAKER_02]: is that a lot of times we

[00:28:09] [SPEAKER_02]: academically mentally cerebelly we get

[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_02]: what relationships are for example

[00:28:13] [SPEAKER_02]: we I could get on a whiteboard and

[00:28:14] [SPEAKER_02]: we could define

[00:28:15] [SPEAKER_02]: what biblical masculinity is all these

[00:28:18] [SPEAKER_02]: specific traits of humility

[00:28:19] [SPEAKER_02]: willingness to listen to others etc

[00:28:21] [SPEAKER_02]: but unless it's modeled unless people

[00:28:24] [SPEAKER_02]: have the opportunity to practice to put

[00:28:26] [SPEAKER_02]: it into practice

[00:28:26] [SPEAKER_02]: at that time it's all practice it's all

[00:28:29] [SPEAKER_02]: theory

[00:28:30] [SPEAKER_02]: and and we need particularly pastors and

[00:28:33] [SPEAKER_02]: leaders

[00:28:33] [SPEAKER_02]: in our church

[00:28:35] [SPEAKER_02]: to model that to actually call out

[00:28:38] [SPEAKER_02]: young men

[00:28:39] [SPEAKER_02]: and and the thing is this is another

[00:28:42] [SPEAKER_02]: thing that I've seen in having been

[00:28:44] [SPEAKER_02]: in men's ministry for years is

[00:28:45] [SPEAKER_02]: what

[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_02]: kind of prevents individuals

[00:28:49] [SPEAKER_02]: men

[00:28:50] [SPEAKER_02]: from discipling others a lot of times it's

[00:28:52] [SPEAKER_02]: a fear that you know I don't know the

[00:28:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Bible so well you know I can't quote so

[00:28:55] [SPEAKER_02]: many verses etc

[00:28:57] [SPEAKER_02]: but what it is what young men need

[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_02]: and what they crave

[00:29:01] [SPEAKER_02]: is that aspect of

[00:29:03] [SPEAKER_02]: it's you know how do I tie a tie

[00:29:05] [SPEAKER_02]: you know the basics the little things

[00:29:08] [SPEAKER_02]: in life are what

[00:29:09] [SPEAKER_02]: you know to be those conversation

[00:29:11] [SPEAKER_02]: starters

[00:29:11] [SPEAKER_02]: and you don't have to be you know as

[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_02]: as eloquent in the scriptures

[00:29:15] [SPEAKER_02]: as your pastor

[00:29:17] [SPEAKER_02]: but you've had those experiences in life

[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_02]: you know as the older generation you

[00:29:22] [SPEAKER_02]: know we've got those battle scars that

[00:29:23] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah been through those relational

[00:29:24] [SPEAKER_02]: issues we've been through those business

[00:29:26] [SPEAKER_02]: issues

[00:29:27] [SPEAKER_02]: and where you could talk to a young man

[00:29:29] [SPEAKER_02]: about that well

[00:29:29] [SPEAKER_02]: you know I got through this you can

[00:29:31] [SPEAKER_02]: get through it too yes

[00:29:32] [SPEAKER_00]: the first section as I said is a god

[00:29:34] [SPEAKER_00]: design men to be masculine creation

[00:29:36] [SPEAKER_00]: fall

[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_00]: and then the idea of redemption restoration

[00:29:40] [SPEAKER_00]: and sanctification but

[00:29:41] [SPEAKER_00]: the second section is what masculinity

[00:29:43] [SPEAKER_00]: is and it's eternal but the second

[00:29:45] [SPEAKER_00]: one that I wanted to get to is servant

[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_00]: leaders

[00:29:48] [SPEAKER_00]: it seems to me that we really need to be

[00:29:50] [SPEAKER_00]: teaching that in the church don't we

[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_02]: amen

[00:29:54] [SPEAKER_02]: amen where we realize you know particularly

[00:29:56] [SPEAKER_02]: we call it the me generation where it's

[00:29:58] [SPEAKER_02]: all about me

[00:30:01] [SPEAKER_02]: that it's not

[00:30:02] [SPEAKER_02]: you know one of our favorite authors

[00:30:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Jonathan Haidt talks about this where

[00:30:05] [SPEAKER_02]: there's you know individual identity

[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_02]: and corporate identity

[00:30:08] [SPEAKER_02]: and one of the my favorite

[00:30:09] [SPEAKER_02]: of my favorite books he always addresses

[00:30:13] [SPEAKER_02]: a study that was done years ago

[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_02]: by the pioneer social

[00:30:18] [SPEAKER_02]: sociologist the gentleman by the name of

[00:30:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Emil Durkheim

[00:30:20] [SPEAKER_02]: where he traveled all over western Europe

[00:30:22] [SPEAKER_02]: where he studied communities

[00:30:24] [SPEAKER_02]: and that aspect in each community

[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_02]: whether it wasn't a common moral foundation

[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_02]: a common corporate identity etc

[00:30:30] [SPEAKER_02]: there was a decrease in happiness

[00:30:32] [SPEAKER_02]: and an increase in suicide

[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_02]: within those groups

[00:30:35] [SPEAKER_02]: and I'm like man that

[00:30:36] [SPEAKER_02]: if that isn't where we are at today

[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_02]: so it's it's

[00:30:40] [SPEAKER_02]: you know digress a little bit

[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_02]: from that servant leadership

[00:30:43] [SPEAKER_02]: but it gets back to that aspect of

[00:30:44] [SPEAKER_02]: identity where we need people

[00:30:46] [SPEAKER_02]: young men

[00:30:48] [SPEAKER_02]: to be give of themselves to others

[00:30:50] [SPEAKER_02]: that it's it's not about us

[00:30:52] [SPEAKER_02]: it's not the me generation

[00:30:53] [SPEAKER_02]: it's buying into the gospel identity

[00:30:55] [SPEAKER_02]: of who we are as sons of christ

[00:30:57] [SPEAKER_00]: also this idea of masculinity is

[00:30:59] [SPEAKER_00]: self-discipline strength under control

[00:31:02] [SPEAKER_00]: which then also leads to a section

[00:31:04] [SPEAKER_00]: what men are called to be peacemakers

[00:31:06] [SPEAKER_00]: I guarantee you Chad

[00:31:08] [SPEAKER_00]: that if we were to get a whiteboard

[00:31:10] [SPEAKER_00]: and have people talk about what it

[00:31:11] [SPEAKER_00]: means to be a man

[00:31:12] [SPEAKER_00]: I doubt anybody would have put up

[00:31:15] [SPEAKER_00]: discipline or peacemakers

[00:31:16] [SPEAKER_00]: and yet that's part of the proclamation

[00:31:18] [SPEAKER_02]: that is most definitely in our society

[00:31:20] [SPEAKER_02]: you know as as Paul says

[00:31:22] [SPEAKER_02]: you know as far as it's up to you

[00:31:23] [SPEAKER_02]: make peace

[00:31:24] [SPEAKER_02]: yes

[00:31:25] [SPEAKER_02]: and and it's it's difficult

[00:31:26] [SPEAKER_02]: but being a peacemaker

[00:31:27] [SPEAKER_02]: doesn't necessarily mean that

[00:31:29] [SPEAKER_02]: you're feminine that you roll over

[00:31:31] [SPEAKER_02]: that you're a pushover

[00:31:32] [SPEAKER_02]: no

[00:31:32] [SPEAKER_02]: but what it means is

[00:31:34] [SPEAKER_02]: standing on biblical principle

[00:31:35] [SPEAKER_02]: and sometimes that means

[00:31:37] [SPEAKER_02]: you know

[00:31:37] [SPEAKER_02]: to commit violence in defense

[00:31:39] [SPEAKER_02]: of your family etc

[00:31:42] [SPEAKER_02]: but being a peacemaker

[00:31:43] [SPEAKER_02]: means is that

[00:31:44] [SPEAKER_02]: like christ

[00:31:46] [SPEAKER_02]: being meek which is strength under control

[00:31:49] [SPEAKER_02]: but look what christ did too

[00:31:50] [SPEAKER_02]: following that same example

[00:31:51] [SPEAKER_02]: of with the Pharisees

[00:31:53] [SPEAKER_02]: the Sadducees and the

[00:31:54] [SPEAKER_02]: teachers of the law

[00:31:55] [SPEAKER_02]: where he called them

[00:31:56] [SPEAKER_02]: you know you brood of vipers

[00:31:57] [SPEAKER_02]: you hypocrites

[00:31:59] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean that's to me

[00:32:00] [SPEAKER_02]: are you being a peacemaker

[00:32:01] [SPEAKER_02]: but yet Jesus did that

[00:32:03] [SPEAKER_02]: so that's the example that we follow

[00:32:04] [SPEAKER_00]: I think we've seen that range too

[00:32:06] [SPEAKER_00]: because you talk about

[00:32:06] [SPEAKER_00]: peacemakers on number 10

[00:32:08] [SPEAKER_00]: display controlled strength under

[00:32:10] [SPEAKER_00]: 13 by the way each one of these have

[00:32:12] [SPEAKER_00]: verses of course

[00:32:13] [SPEAKER_00]: proverbs and Galatians

[00:32:14] [SPEAKER_00]: and Isaiah and other passages

[00:32:16] [SPEAKER_00]: and it does seem to me

[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_00]: that Jesus provides the ultimate idea

[00:32:19] [SPEAKER_00]: one minute he's talking about

[00:32:21] [SPEAKER_00]: consider the lilies of the field

[00:32:23] [SPEAKER_00]: and things of that nation next

[00:32:24] [SPEAKER_00]: minute you see him actually

[00:32:26] [SPEAKER_00]: confronting the Sadducees

[00:32:28] [SPEAKER_00]: and the Pharisees

[00:32:29] [SPEAKER_00]: and I think that's what it means

[00:32:31] [SPEAKER_00]: to be a man

[00:32:31] [SPEAKER_00]: and sometimes we bought

[00:32:32] [SPEAKER_00]: one side or the other

[00:32:33] [SPEAKER_00]: and haven't understood the whole

[00:32:35] [SPEAKER_00]: breadth of what it means to be a man

[00:32:36] [SPEAKER_02]: you know exactly and this is

[00:32:39] [SPEAKER_02]: we need to follow christ

[00:32:40] [SPEAKER_02]: I had a pastor friend

[00:32:41] [SPEAKER_02]: share with me one time is that

[00:32:43] [SPEAKER_02]: you know he was studying

[00:32:44] [SPEAKER_02]: being a ninja

[00:32:46] [SPEAKER_02]: what does a warrior look like

[00:32:47] [SPEAKER_02]: these guys would study the art of war

[00:32:49] [SPEAKER_02]: with one hand

[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_02]: but the art of calligraphy

[00:32:52] [SPEAKER_02]: and gardening with the other

[00:32:53] [SPEAKER_02]: yes it's a homeostasis

[00:32:55] [SPEAKER_02]: it's balance as a man

[00:32:57] [SPEAKER_02]: that's where the struggle in life

[00:32:59] [SPEAKER_02]: we need to have be willing

[00:33:00] [SPEAKER_02]: to commit violence when needed

[00:33:02] [SPEAKER_02]: but it's under strength

[00:33:03] [SPEAKER_02]: it's under you know

[00:33:04] [SPEAKER_02]: being a peacemaker first and foremost

[00:33:06] [SPEAKER_00]: let me just mention

[00:33:07] [SPEAKER_00]: we have Chad Haines with us

[00:33:08] [SPEAKER_00]: in studio

[00:33:08] [SPEAKER_00]: we're going to come back and talk a little bit more

[00:33:10] [SPEAKER_00]: about this proclamation

[00:33:11] [SPEAKER_00]: on godly masculinity

[00:33:13] [SPEAKER_00]: but as you go through the break

[00:33:15] [SPEAKER_00]: this would be a good time

[00:33:16] [SPEAKER_00]: for you to click on one of the buttons

[00:33:17] [SPEAKER_00]: which will take you to

[00:33:18] [SPEAKER_00]: what makes a man

[00:33:20] [SPEAKER_00]: dot o r g

[00:33:21] [SPEAKER_00]: you will see the proclamation there

[00:33:23] [SPEAKER_00]: you will be able to read through it

[00:33:25] [SPEAKER_00]: you will also

[00:33:27] [SPEAKER_00]: tie in the signatories

[00:33:28] [SPEAKER_00]: they have it down by state

[00:33:29] [SPEAKER_00]: and I typed in a couple of states

[00:33:31] [SPEAKER_00]: like Texas and Virginia

[00:33:33] [SPEAKER_00]: and a few of those just to see

[00:33:34] [SPEAKER_00]: who's already signed it

[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_00]: and of course Chad

[00:33:36] [SPEAKER_00]: has been one of the signers

[00:33:37] [SPEAKER_00]: as you might imagine

[00:33:38] [SPEAKER_00]: but you may want to join with us as well

[00:33:41] [SPEAKER_00]: and we'll talk more about

[00:33:42] [SPEAKER_00]: how you can do that right after this

[00:33:55] [SPEAKER_01]: you're listening to point of view

[00:33:58] [SPEAKER_01]: your listener supported source for truth

[00:34:01] [SPEAKER_00]: privilege to have in studio with us today

[00:34:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Chad Hennings as we talk about

[00:34:04] [SPEAKER_00]: this proclamation on godly masculinity

[00:34:07] [SPEAKER_00]: you can go to the website

[00:34:08] [SPEAKER_00]: which we've provided to you

[00:34:10] [SPEAKER_00]: what makes a man dot o r g

[00:34:12] [SPEAKER_00]: you might say well who put this together

[00:34:14] [SPEAKER_00]: well Ken Harrison

[00:34:14] [SPEAKER_00]: has been on the program with us

[00:34:16] [SPEAKER_00]: is certainly one of the authors

[00:34:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Chad is as well

[00:34:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Sammy Rodriguez

[00:34:19] [SPEAKER_00]: you certainly have appreciated

[00:34:21] [SPEAKER_00]: some of the conversation

[00:34:22] [SPEAKER_00]: we've had with him

[00:34:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Jean gets he's been in every one

[00:34:25] [SPEAKER_00]: of the point of view

[00:34:26] [SPEAKER_00]: studios since the beginning

[00:34:27] [SPEAKER_00]: and is prayed for us many times

[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_00]: in those different studios

[00:34:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Jason and David Bentham

[00:34:32] [SPEAKER_00]: just to mention just a few

[00:34:33] [SPEAKER_00]: of the authors

[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_00]: and the proclamation is there

[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_00]: we also have an actual link

[00:34:38] [SPEAKER_00]: so you could print it out

[00:34:39] [SPEAKER_00]: and I thought we might pick out

[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_00]: just one other characteristic

[00:34:42] [SPEAKER_00]: because it talks about also

[00:34:43] [SPEAKER_00]: exercising biblical conviction

[00:34:45] [SPEAKER_00]: conviction is a belief

[00:34:47] [SPEAKER_00]: that's non-negotiable

[00:34:49] [SPEAKER_00]: and if we could have more men

[00:34:51] [SPEAKER_00]: standing up for God's word

[00:34:52] [SPEAKER_00]: and do that with conviction

[00:34:54] [SPEAKER_00]: and another word in their courage

[00:34:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I think we'd be a lot better off

[00:34:58] [SPEAKER_00]: sometimes we leave some of these

[00:34:59] [SPEAKER_00]: battles over doctrine

[00:35:00] [SPEAKER_00]: to the women and not to the men

[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_00]: and men shouldn't always

[00:35:03] [SPEAKER_00]: be letting the women fight the battles

[00:35:04] [SPEAKER_02]: well and that's unfortunately

[00:35:06] [SPEAKER_02]: because men have been

[00:35:08] [SPEAKER_02]: beaten down so much

[00:35:09] [SPEAKER_02]: over the years

[00:35:10] [SPEAKER_02]: and this confusion of what

[00:35:12] [SPEAKER_02]: masculinity what it means

[00:35:13] [SPEAKER_02]: to be a man

[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_02]: particularly one walking with Christ

[00:35:17] [SPEAKER_02]: that we need to call men

[00:35:19] [SPEAKER_02]: up to what they're created to be

[00:35:21] [SPEAKER_02]: and can just share

[00:35:22] [SPEAKER_02]: you and I've talked with the past

[00:35:24] [SPEAKER_02]: about brain science

[00:35:25] [SPEAKER_02]: and social psychology etc

[00:35:29] [SPEAKER_02]: when I get the opportunity

[00:35:30] [SPEAKER_02]: to talk with men

[00:35:31] [SPEAKER_02]: I kind of share that aspect

[00:35:32] [SPEAKER_02]: of why they

[00:35:35] [SPEAKER_02]: them as the individual matters

[00:35:37] [SPEAKER_02]: and I go back to

[00:35:38] [SPEAKER_02]: the Milgram experiment

[00:35:40] [SPEAKER_02]: you're going to have to go

[00:35:41] [SPEAKER_02]: way back on this

[00:35:42] [SPEAKER_02]: for those of you who don't know

[00:35:43] [SPEAKER_02]: what the Milgram experiment was about

[00:35:44] [SPEAKER_02]: it was conducted by a professor

[00:35:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Milgram of course

[00:35:47] [SPEAKER_02]: at Yale University

[00:35:48] [SPEAKER_02]: back in the 60s

[00:35:49] [SPEAKER_02]: this gentleman wanted to understand

[00:35:52] [SPEAKER_02]: how people would blindly follow

[00:35:54] [SPEAKER_02]: authority

[00:35:55] [SPEAKER_02]: and he went back

[00:35:56] [SPEAKER_02]: because he wanted this

[00:35:57] [SPEAKER_02]: was post-World War II

[00:35:59] [SPEAKER_02]: why the German people

[00:36:00] [SPEAKER_02]: right blindly follow

[00:36:01] [SPEAKER_02]: the National Socialist Party

[00:36:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Adolf Hitler

[00:36:03] [SPEAKER_02]: and his crew

[00:36:04] [SPEAKER_02]: and he set up an experiment

[00:36:06] [SPEAKER_02]: whether the control group

[00:36:07] [SPEAKER_02]: would be administering

[00:36:09] [SPEAKER_02]: a shock treatment

[00:36:11] [SPEAKER_02]: to a virtual person

[00:36:13] [SPEAKER_02]: in another room

[00:36:14] [SPEAKER_02]: as they would answer questions

[00:36:15] [SPEAKER_02]: every answer wrong

[00:36:16] [SPEAKER_02]: think shock

[00:36:17] [SPEAKER_02]: and for your

[00:36:18] [SPEAKER_02]: one individual listeners

[00:36:20] [SPEAKER_02]: that are more culturally attuned

[00:36:22] [SPEAKER_02]: it's think ghostbusters

[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Bill Murray given the shock treatments

[00:36:25] [SPEAKER_02]: at the beginning of the movie

[00:36:26] [SPEAKER_02]: that's kind of where we're at

[00:36:27] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah

[00:36:27] [SPEAKER_02]: but was they did this

[00:36:29] [SPEAKER_02]: it would continue to increase

[00:36:31] [SPEAKER_02]: the voltage

[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_02]: and increase

[00:36:33] [SPEAKER_02]: you know the amperage

[00:36:34] [SPEAKER_02]: each time to where it would be

[00:36:35] [SPEAKER_02]: a lethal dose

[00:36:37] [SPEAKER_02]: where the other person

[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_02]: the virtual person

[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_02]: in the other room

[00:36:39] [SPEAKER_02]: would be saying stop

[00:36:40] [SPEAKER_02]: stop you're hurting me

[00:36:41] [SPEAKER_02]: or you know you're killing me

[00:36:42] [SPEAKER_02]: or there'd be virtual silence

[00:36:44] [SPEAKER_02]: and the individual

[00:36:45] [SPEAKER_02]: the control group would look up

[00:36:46] [SPEAKER_02]: at the person in control

[00:36:48] [SPEAKER_02]: are the authority figure

[00:36:51] [SPEAKER_02]: think a professed lab coat

[00:36:53] [SPEAKER_02]: clipboard etc

[00:36:54] [SPEAKER_02]: and he would continue

[00:36:55] [SPEAKER_02]: to tell them proceed

[00:36:57] [SPEAKER_02]: proceed

[00:36:57] [SPEAKER_02]: knowing full well that they were

[00:36:59] [SPEAKER_02]: committing pain

[00:37:00] [SPEAKER_02]: and anguish

[00:37:01] [SPEAKER_02]: and if not death

[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_02]: to the person in the other room

[00:37:04] [SPEAKER_02]: and this is where I tell them

[00:37:05] [SPEAKER_02]: and guess what the percentage was

[00:37:06] [SPEAKER_02]: of those individuals who continued

[00:37:08] [SPEAKER_02]: knowing they were

[00:37:09] [SPEAKER_02]: harming

[00:37:10] [SPEAKER_02]: physically harming if not

[00:37:12] [SPEAKER_02]: killing the person in the other room

[00:37:14] [SPEAKER_02]: 64%

[00:37:15] [SPEAKER_02]: continue to administer the shock

[00:37:17] [SPEAKER_02]: treatments

[00:37:17] [SPEAKER_02]: but a tangential experiment

[00:37:19] [SPEAKER_02]: where there was two people

[00:37:20] [SPEAKER_02]: if one of those two people

[00:37:21] [SPEAKER_02]: that the control group

[00:37:23] [SPEAKER_02]: would stand up and say no

[00:37:24] [SPEAKER_02]: that's not right

[00:37:26] [SPEAKER_02]: that's 64% went down

[00:37:28] [SPEAKER_02]: to less than 11%

[00:37:30] [SPEAKER_02]: that's why you matter

[00:37:31] [SPEAKER_02]: that's why you stand up

[00:37:32] [SPEAKER_02]: for biblical truth

[00:37:33] [SPEAKER_02]: that's why if you see something

[00:37:35] [SPEAKER_02]: wrong

[00:37:35] [SPEAKER_02]: that's

[00:37:37] [SPEAKER_02]: that you know is wrong

[00:37:38] [SPEAKER_02]: it's been confirmed biblically

[00:37:39] [SPEAKER_02]: you've through your mentors etc

[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_02]: stand up

[00:37:42] [SPEAKER_02]: and and take that

[00:37:43] [SPEAKER_02]: because you're giving courage

[00:37:45] [SPEAKER_02]: to those around you

[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_02]: it's like

[00:37:47] [SPEAKER_02]: you know as opposed to being a sheep

[00:37:49] [SPEAKER_02]: be the sheep dog

[00:37:50] [SPEAKER_02]: somebody that that's different

[00:37:51] [SPEAKER_02]: and we're all called

[00:37:52] [SPEAKER_02]: to be different

[00:37:53] [SPEAKER_02]: because we follow Christ

[00:37:54] [SPEAKER_02]: we're that city on a hill

[00:37:56] [SPEAKER_02]: we're that lamp on the lamp stand

[00:37:57] [SPEAKER_02]: we're that salt

[00:37:59] [SPEAKER_02]: that taste salty

[00:38:00] [SPEAKER_02]: that's who you know in Matthew

[00:38:01] [SPEAKER_02]: we are called to be

[00:38:03] [SPEAKER_00]: this is what we can't talk about

[00:38:04] [SPEAKER_00]: how people can use this proclamation

[00:38:06] [SPEAKER_00]: because first of all

[00:38:07] [SPEAKER_00]: we are encouraging people to sign it

[00:38:08] [SPEAKER_00]: and I've been checking out who has signed it

[00:38:11] [SPEAKER_00]: and of course

[00:38:11] [SPEAKER_00]: these are as available

[00:38:12] [SPEAKER_00]: who's who of people

[00:38:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I've noticed so far

[00:38:14] [SPEAKER_00]: but it's just getting started

[00:38:16] [SPEAKER_00]: for example

[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_00]: we were just talking about the fact

[00:38:18] [SPEAKER_00]: that one of the individuals

[00:38:20] [SPEAKER_00]: we've known

[00:38:20] [SPEAKER_00]: who's been part of promise keepers

[00:38:22] [SPEAKER_00]: is Ken Harrison

[00:38:23] [SPEAKER_00]: the last time we had him on

[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_00]: we didn't talk about this

[00:38:25] [SPEAKER_00]: because it hadn't come out yet

[00:38:27] [SPEAKER_00]: so in some respects

[00:38:28] [SPEAKER_00]: people listening right now

[00:38:30] [SPEAKER_00]: are on the cutting edge

[00:38:31] [SPEAKER_00]: the kind of the premier

[00:38:33] [SPEAKER_00]: opportunity to take this proclamation

[00:38:35] [SPEAKER_00]: not only to sign it

[00:38:36] [SPEAKER_00]: but then to use it within their church

[00:38:38] [SPEAKER_00]: how can they do so

[00:38:39] [SPEAKER_02]: well that would be

[00:38:39] [SPEAKER_02]: take it to your pastor

[00:38:40] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah

[00:38:41] [SPEAKER_02]: read through this

[00:38:43] [SPEAKER_02]: and you know pastors

[00:38:44] [SPEAKER_02]: they're probably the most overworked

[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_02]: sector of our body of our Christ

[00:38:49] [SPEAKER_02]: that you know the average pastor

[00:38:51] [SPEAKER_02]: wears multiple hats

[00:38:52] [SPEAKER_02]: and they have a lot going on

[00:38:54] [SPEAKER_02]: and one of the things that you could do

[00:38:55] [SPEAKER_02]: to help your pastor

[00:38:56] [SPEAKER_02]: would be pastor

[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_02]: if you approve of this

[00:38:59] [SPEAKER_02]: encourage you to sign this

[00:39:00] [SPEAKER_02]: but how can I get involved

[00:39:03] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah

[00:39:03] [SPEAKER_02]: with our church

[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_02]: inside our church

[00:39:05] [SPEAKER_02]: to minister other men

[00:39:06] [SPEAKER_02]: you mentioned Dr. Gene Getz

[00:39:09] [SPEAKER_02]: one of my spiritual mentors

[00:39:11] [SPEAKER_02]: and I love his measure of a man book

[00:39:13] [SPEAKER_02]: I've used it for many years

[00:39:15] [SPEAKER_02]: in regards to taking young men

[00:39:18] [SPEAKER_02]: through a discipleship program

[00:39:21] [SPEAKER_02]: and you know that's

[00:39:23] [SPEAKER_02]: you know speaking of things like that

[00:39:24] [SPEAKER_02]: you can easily just pick up

[00:39:26] [SPEAKER_02]: there's so many different resources

[00:39:27] [SPEAKER_02]: at promisekeepers.org

[00:39:28] [SPEAKER_02]: that you can utilize

[00:39:30] [SPEAKER_02]: on how to be a disciple

[00:39:31] [SPEAKER_02]: how to be a disciple maker

[00:39:32] [SPEAKER_02]: you don't

[00:39:33] [SPEAKER_02]: you know it kind of takes

[00:39:34] [SPEAKER_02]: a lot of the heavy lifting away

[00:39:37] [SPEAKER_02]: or gives you

[00:39:38] [SPEAKER_02]: does a lot of the heavy lifting for you

[00:39:39] [SPEAKER_02]: but how you can utilize this

[00:39:41] [SPEAKER_02]: take it to your pastor

[00:39:42] [SPEAKER_02]: encourage your pastor to sign it

[00:39:44] [SPEAKER_02]: and then step up to the plate

[00:39:46] [SPEAKER_02]: get off the bench

[00:39:47] [SPEAKER_02]: get into the game

[00:39:49] [SPEAKER_02]: and do what God's calling you to do

[00:39:51] [SPEAKER_02]: make disciples within your own

[00:39:53] [SPEAKER_02]: individual body of Christ at your church

[00:39:55] [SPEAKER_00]: now some of you women listening right now

[00:39:56] [SPEAKER_00]: are saying well I appreciate this for the men

[00:39:58] [SPEAKER_00]: what can I do

[00:39:59] [SPEAKER_00]: well you can take this

[00:40:00] [SPEAKER_00]: and bring it to your man

[00:40:01] [SPEAKER_00]: and it could be a father

[00:40:03] [SPEAKER_00]: it could be a brother

[00:40:03] [SPEAKER_00]: it could be a husband

[00:40:05] [SPEAKER_00]: it could be somebody at work

[00:40:07] [SPEAKER_00]: and there are 15 different

[00:40:09] [SPEAKER_00]: aspects of this principles

[00:40:11] [SPEAKER_00]: and then there's a place at the end

[00:40:12] [SPEAKER_00]: where you can affirm these 15 principles

[00:40:14] [SPEAKER_00]: scan it and sign it

[00:40:16] [SPEAKER_00]: and be one of the signers

[00:40:18] [SPEAKER_00]: of this proclamation

[00:40:19] [SPEAKER_00]: but also the way you've put it together

[00:40:21] [SPEAKER_00]: with these 15 points

[00:40:22] [SPEAKER_00]: and then you've got 15 points

[00:40:24] [SPEAKER_00]: in six pages

[00:40:24] [SPEAKER_00]: so it doesn't take a lot of paper

[00:40:26] [SPEAKER_00]: but each one of those could be a session

[00:40:28] [SPEAKER_00]: you know if you say

[00:40:29] [SPEAKER_00]: I wish I knew what we could teach

[00:40:31] [SPEAKER_00]: in our Sunday school classes

[00:40:33] [SPEAKER_00]: maybe even our men's ministry

[00:40:35] [SPEAKER_00]: so that we could really talk about

[00:40:36] [SPEAKER_00]: being masculine

[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_00]: well creation fall redemption restoration

[00:40:41] [SPEAKER_00]: sanctification

[00:40:42] [SPEAKER_00]: that's the first five

[00:40:43] [SPEAKER_00]: then eternal

[00:40:45] [SPEAKER_00]: servant leaders

[00:40:46] [SPEAKER_00]: under authority discipline

[00:40:48] [SPEAKER_00]: that brings you up to nine

[00:40:50] [SPEAKER_00]: then what are men called for

[00:40:52] [SPEAKER_00]: peacemakers act with courage

[00:40:54] [SPEAKER_00]: promote justice display

[00:40:56] [SPEAKER_00]: controlled strength

[00:40:57] [SPEAKER_00]: practice independence

[00:40:58] [SPEAKER_00]: exercise biblical conviction

[00:41:00] [SPEAKER_00]: and that could be one

[00:41:01] [SPEAKER_00]: each week for 15 weeks

[00:41:03] [SPEAKER_00]: or it could be a couple

[00:41:04] [SPEAKER_00]: and I think it is just a great way

[00:41:06] [SPEAKER_00]: to not only use this proclamation

[00:41:08] [SPEAKER_00]: to affirm that

[00:41:10] [SPEAKER_00]: but to actually do that in your own church

[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_00]: amen

[00:41:12] [SPEAKER_02]: that great idea

[00:41:14] [SPEAKER_02]: great suggestion

[00:41:15] [SPEAKER_02]: and even for those single moms

[00:41:16] [SPEAKER_02]: where they don't have a father

[00:41:18] [SPEAKER_02]: or don't have a male influence

[00:41:20] [SPEAKER_02]: within your young son's life

[00:41:23] [SPEAKER_02]: for mom read those

[00:41:24] [SPEAKER_02]: because it gives biblical foundation

[00:41:25] [SPEAKER_02]: of what it means to be a man

[00:41:27] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean that could be

[00:41:28] [SPEAKER_02]: a leg up for your young son

[00:41:30] [SPEAKER_02]: that is struggling with

[00:41:32] [SPEAKER_02]: that identity

[00:41:33] [SPEAKER_02]: that don't have a male influence in their lives

[00:41:35] [SPEAKER_02]: that could be a great first step

[00:41:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm so glad you mentioned that

[00:41:38] [SPEAKER_00]: because again we have more and more moms

[00:41:40] [SPEAKER_00]: it is hard to be a dad

[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_00]: when you're not a dad

[00:41:44] [SPEAKER_00]: you know and you're the mom alone

[00:41:45] [SPEAKER_00]: and certainly this upcoming film

[00:41:48] [SPEAKER_00]: The Forge is all about that as well

[00:41:50] [SPEAKER_00]: so I just thought I'd mention that as well

[00:41:51] [SPEAKER_00]: each one of these have multiple verses

[00:41:54] [SPEAKER_00]: so you could

[00:41:54] [SPEAKER_00]: this could be a bible study

[00:41:56] [SPEAKER_00]: could be a number of other things

[00:41:57] [SPEAKER_00]: so Chad the first I heard about it

[00:41:59] [SPEAKER_00]: is when I knew you were coming

[00:42:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I printed it out as you can see

[00:42:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to sign it like everybody else

[00:42:04] [SPEAKER_00]: but I just think this is a really helpful

[00:42:07] [SPEAKER_00]: set of criteria

[00:42:08] [SPEAKER_00]: 15 different statements

[00:42:10] [SPEAKER_00]: about what it means to be a godly man

[00:42:13] [SPEAKER_02]: you know Kirby I appreciate

[00:42:14] [SPEAKER_02]: having me on the ability to discuss this

[00:42:17] [SPEAKER_02]: with you to help spread the word

[00:42:19] [SPEAKER_02]: is we didn't get here overnight

[00:42:21] [SPEAKER_02]: as a culture, as a society

[00:42:23] [SPEAKER_02]: it was a slow drip

[00:42:24] [SPEAKER_02]: and I'm not naive to think

[00:42:26] [SPEAKER_02]: well God can create revival if he wants

[00:42:28] [SPEAKER_02]: but the standard course is

[00:42:32] [SPEAKER_02]: you know it's going to take organically

[00:42:33] [SPEAKER_02]: just by relationships

[00:42:34] [SPEAKER_02]: word of mouth to get this out

[00:42:35] [SPEAKER_02]: and this is where

[00:42:36] [SPEAKER_02]: you know again thank you for that

[00:42:38] [SPEAKER_00]: again you can find it at whatmakesamand.org

[00:42:41] [SPEAKER_00]: if you'd like to contact

[00:42:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Chad Hennings and have him come and speak to the men

[00:42:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I would highly recommend that as well

[00:42:47] [SPEAKER_00]: so we have all that information

[00:42:48] [SPEAKER_00]: at our website at pointofview.net

[00:42:50] [SPEAKER_00]: take the time

[00:42:51] [SPEAKER_00]: print out the proclamation

[00:42:53] [SPEAKER_00]: pass it on to your pastor

[00:42:54] [SPEAKER_00]: to other people that need to see it

[00:42:56] [SPEAKER_00]: and let's see how many addresses

[00:42:58] [SPEAKER_00]: and names and signatures

[00:43:00] [SPEAKER_00]: we can get on it

[00:43:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Chad it's great to have you back

[00:43:03] [SPEAKER_00]: thanks sir

[00:43:03] [SPEAKER_00]: gonna take a break

[00:43:04] [SPEAKER_00]: we have some more to talk about in the second hour

[00:43:06] [SPEAKER_00]: we'll be back right after this

[00:43:11] [SPEAKER_01]: where does moral truth come from

[00:43:13] [SPEAKER_01]: according to 58% of Americans

[00:43:15] [SPEAKER_01]: individuals determine moral truth

[00:43:18] [SPEAKER_01]: a quarter of generation Z says

[00:43:20] [SPEAKER_01]: society determines moral truth

[00:43:23] [SPEAKER_01]: and morality can even change over time

[00:43:25] [SPEAKER_01]: only 42% of Americans

[00:43:27] [SPEAKER_01]: believe that truth comes from God

[00:43:30] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know about you but

[00:43:31] [SPEAKER_01]: I find these numbers extremely troubling

[00:43:34] [SPEAKER_01]: it really is a crisis of truth

[00:43:36] [SPEAKER_01]: and that crisis has consequences

[00:43:39] [SPEAKER_01]: look at society

[00:43:39] [SPEAKER_01]: evil is called good

[00:43:41] [SPEAKER_01]: good called evil

[00:43:42] [SPEAKER_01]: people with biblical beliefs are called bigots

[00:43:45] [SPEAKER_01]: or worse they're canceled

[00:43:47] [SPEAKER_01]: but there is hope

[00:43:49] [SPEAKER_01]: the Bible promises

[00:43:50] [SPEAKER_01]: the truth will set us free

[00:43:52] [SPEAKER_01]: and that's why point of view

[00:43:53] [SPEAKER_01]: is relentless in our commitment

[00:43:55] [SPEAKER_01]: to the ultimate source of moral truth

[00:43:58] [SPEAKER_01]: God's word

[00:43:59] [SPEAKER_01]: at point of view

[00:44:00] [SPEAKER_01]: we know that God's truth is eternal

[00:44:03] [SPEAKER_01]: and if we stand together

[00:44:04] [SPEAKER_01]: we can help more Americans

[00:44:06] [SPEAKER_01]: apply his truth in their daily life

[00:44:09] [SPEAKER_01]: help Americans find truth again

[00:44:11] [SPEAKER_01]: by giving at pointofview.net

[00:44:14] [SPEAKER_01]: or call 1-800-347-5151

[00:44:18] [SPEAKER_01]: that's pointofview.net

[00:44:20] [SPEAKER_01]: and 800-347-5151

[00:44:28] [SPEAKER_01]: point of view will continue after this
