Reclaiming the Panama Canal: A National Security Priority
Donald Trump has called for reclaiming the Panama Canal, citing exorbitant fees on American ships and the growing influence of the Chinese Communist Party in its operations. Trump highlighted that while the canal was initially turned over to Panama, the U.S. has not been treated fairly, undermining the original intent of the transfer.
Sam agrees, asserting that the Panama Canal is a critical national security asset that should never have been given away. He emphasizes that Congress—not former President Carter—holds the authority to make such decisions. With the canal now under Panama’s control and heavily influenced by foreign powers, Sam believes it’s time to take action.
Sam also references Path Between the Seas by David McCullough, a comprehensive look at the canal’s history and significance. While Sam questions whether the canal should have been built in the first place, he insists that since it exists, it must be under U.S. control to safeguard both trade and security.
He applauds Trump’s stance, urging Americans to support efforts to reclaim the Panama Canal for the benefit of national security and economic stability.
[00:00:00] We're Talking the Panama Canal, Yes Indeed Mr. Donald Trump,
[00:00:05] We will demand that the Panama Canal be returned to the United States of America.
[00:00:10] You should take it back. Happy to have you along my fellow Americans, I'm Sam Bushman
[00:00:15] with another Liberty Roundtable live short video. Yes indeed Donald Trump threatens to reclaim the
[00:00:29] Panama Canal at issue Trump says are the exorbitant fees American ships are charged to go through the
[00:00:37] canal. It's virtually been turned over to the communist Chinese party the CCP. It was given to
[00:00:44] Panama and to the people of Panama but you know what they haven't treated us fairly. You know what
[00:00:51] that betrays our agenda of giving. So we need to get the Panama Canal back we should have never given it
[00:00:58] away. It's a national security concern for the United States. I debate whether it should have
[00:01:02] been built in the first place. Nevertheless it was built but Congress has the authority to decide if
[00:01:07] we give away land not former President Carter. Yes indeed Donald you should take it back.
[00:01:13] Consequently ladies and gentlemen have you ever read the book Path Between the Seas? It's a book
[00:01:18] written by David McAuliffe. Great book to kind of document this but look to be able to get from one
[00:01:23] ocean to the other ocean so quickly through the Panama Canal. That could create a serious national
[00:01:29] security concern especially if it's controlled by the communist Chinese or if it gets somehow
[00:01:35] commandeered by an enemy force at some point. I get that it helps with trade but I would have never
[00:01:40] built it in the first place. But if we're going to build it well let's at least make sure we keep
[00:01:45] control of it shall we? Not for China or any other country to manage you see what's going on there.
[00:01:50] The United States has a big invested interest in the secure efficient and reliable operation of the
[00:01:59] Panama Canal. Amen Donald Trump we salute you and support you let's get back to Panama Canal
[00:02:05] and Merry Christmas my fellow Americans. Thanks for being alongside for the ride I'm Sam Bushman with
[00:02:11] another Liberty Roundtable Live short and God save the republic.
