[00:00:04] Broadcasting live from atop the Rocky Mountains, the crossroads of the West. You are listening to the Liberty Roundtable Radio Talk Show. John Brennan, Gavin Newsom, Kamala Harris, and James Edwards. Happy to have you along, my fellow Americans. I'm Sam Bushman with hard-hitting News The Network refused to use, and it all starts now.
[00:00:32] So former CIA Director John Brennan being forced to testify, he got a subpoena as an extensive deal. I guess he has to testify in Fort Pierce, Florida on October the 15th, 2026. So it's coming up in the Justice Department's investigation, explores broader issues about, you know, the Mar-a-Lago raid, about his statements in court. This legal battle is intensifying.
[00:01:02] They say he violated constitutional rights as he, you know, basically pushed saying, hey, Donald Trump is involved with Russia. Now Donald Trump Jr. has a wedding funded by a Russian, so that adds fuel to Brennan's fire, but yet, hey, did Brennan cross the line and violate constitutional rights?
[00:01:20] Additionally, challenges like accessing classified documents and handling the statutory limitations on this thing are complicating the Justice Department's efforts to go after John Brennan. James Edwards, thepoliticalsusspool.org. Your thoughts?
[00:01:39] Well, this is certainly a preview of what's going to be coming the next two years come January if these elections go as I'm pretty certain they will. You are going to see a lot more than this, and you're going to see it with a rubidity that we didn't see in the first Trump administration.
[00:02:02] I think there's just going to be constant impeachments of the president again, and, you know, you never did have any of those heads roll, so to speak, politically or legally, you know, when Trump got in. And whereas this stuff with Russia goes back to 2015, Russiagate, Russia hoax. I have a big problem with the entire lobbyist structure to begin with. I mean, at what point is it legal, and at what point is it nefarious? I mean, I understand you have to—
[00:02:32] That's right. —by getting married, Sam, you've got to register to be a lobbyist. Well, and is there anything wrong? I mean, if, just for argument's sake, let's just say that this guy did this in hopes that the Trump family would look more favorably upon either his own interest or the interest of Russia. Is it evil for Russia to try to influence things for their betterment? I mean, isn't that what lobbyists do? Well, we try to influence things around the world for our betterment, too, James.
[00:03:01] We do it all the time. Well, this is a whole other thing. I mean, we could really get in this tall grass. Yes, I mean, but it's okay when America, you know, blows— Well, and that's the problem. So they say John Brennan. The problem is that he wasn't honoring constitutional rights, and he was— You know, there's a lot of questions about what John Brennan did and justifiable questions about this. But here's my opinion. It's a clown show before the midterms. They're not going to go after Brennan in a real way.
[00:03:29] All Brennan has to do is beat Anthony Fauci and plead the fifth 112 times. James, and now we're off to the races of what are you going to do? Then Congress would have to hold him in contempt of whatever. But yet this is in a Florida court, James. Not even a federal court, but it's federal charges. So you got all kinds of battles going on here. And I think it's a clown show because the Trump administration hasn't really prosecuted anybody for anything, James. Exactly. Exactly. And I don't think you're going to see anything different here.
[00:04:00] Did John Bolton or any of these people—I mean, they get harassed a little bit, but they certainly didn't give them the Steve Stockman treatment. I mean, you're not going to prison. You're not doing a hard time. Put your hand out, John. They're going to slap you with a ruler a few times. They're going to call it good. They might even flog you if we get really serious. But nothing's going to happen here, folks.
[00:04:22] I wish it would, but the Trump administration promised all kinds of prosecutions of criminal activity, including those who perpetuated the January 6th, you know, the government side of the abuse going on. And they were going to get to the bottom of that. They were going to get to the bottom of John Brennan. They were going to find out about Hillary Clinton and get to the bottom of that and Barack Obama's involvement. We ain't seen nothing, none of it, not a single prosecution of anybody, any time at all. And the sand is falling from the hourglass pretty quickly.
[00:04:48] This is the twilight of the 12-year reign of Trump, whether as president or as the central figure in American politics. In a lot of ways, when he wasn't president, he commandeered more support, even so, because he was the outsider that was treated unfairly, view. Right? Yep. Yep.
[00:05:08] So, and then, yeah, I mean, it has been, I hate to say it because I voted for him three times, this year, great start last year to the beginning of his second administration. A flurry of, I thought, very positive actions that he was taking, most of them with the strike of a pin, but what else can you do? You're only the president. That's right. And so that's what he could do, and that's what he did.
[00:05:30] The only criticism I have, Donald's made some mistakes, let's be clear, but I think he's really tried to and done a lot of good in many, many ways. And people say, well, he hasn't kept his promises, and I would agree with a lot of that. Most of that, though, I would pin on Congress, though. They've talked a good game that they support the president. At the end of the day, the Republicans have really undermined Donald at every turn. And now he comes back and has a midterm to try to promote them and keep them in power. Pretty generous of the president, in my opinion, but they've undermined him at every turn.
[00:05:59] Even right now, he wants to give $5,000 to the American people, each family. I'm not for the socialist tactic, but Mike Johnson steps up quickly and says, yeah, but you've got to get that agree by Congress. In other words, good luck. It's not happening. Well, he had promised that with the Doge dividends, and this has been promised two or three times, and it's never happened. But he doesn't have Congress' backing, so it's not going to happen. Well, it's not going to happen for that reason, and it's also not going to happen because even if Congress would support him,
[00:06:27] if a Republican Congress would, Congress isn't going to exist. And the big catch is the carrot in front of the card here is you get them if the Republicans win in November, which ain't going to happen, Cap. It's not going to happen. I wish it was, but it's not going to happen. So anyway, I don't believe anything will happen with John Brennan. I pray I'm wrong, but predict I'm right. And there you have that. Now, Gavin Newsom's in the news, too, with a big old interesting story. So CNN did this weird expose on politicians.
[00:07:01] I guess Newsom was fishing, and Jake Tapper was there, and so they were kind of on this, let's see, politicians in their favorite environment. And so Newsom was out fishing, and Tapper was there, and they had this conversation. And Gavin Newsom literally pledged not to run in 2028 if Kamala Harris entered the race. He says it would be mutual destruction with a divisive primary.
[00:07:31] We're not doing it. I'll let Kamala go, and I won't contend. And this announcement may significantly reshape the upcoming election cycle. James, this is very interesting. They're setting the stage for Kamala to run. Probably AOC will be picked as the VP pick. And I hate to say it as unqualified as those two are with the Republican Party in such disarray. They'll probably win. Because, yes, the cost of living.
[00:07:59] Because, listen, I mean, you look at Trump's favorability numbers. You look at his ratings. And I believe it is this low, and for a lot of different reasons. It's he, you know, they blinked on ice and, you know, retreated from Minneapolis and the other places.
[00:08:20] And that plus this war that he promised he would never do countless times over the first three election cycles that he participated in. The war, cost of living, and then no deportations. You know, they got out of Minneapolis and they pretty much threw ice under the bus for doing its job because they thought that this would be something that would hurt them. But they're going to get wiped out. I think, you know, the fact that they did.
[00:08:48] Well, they should have followed my plan on immigration in the first place. It's called the Justice and Mercy Immigration Plan. And what you do is you start at the extremes. Those who are not a problem in America and those who are here not of their own volition and everything else, they haven't really committed criminal activity. All they know is here, for example. That's one end. You've got to give mercy to those people. You've got to give mercy to the people that don't have any criminal records of any kind.
[00:09:12] And then on the other side of the coin, those who are truly criminals, you've got to give hardcore justice to those people and make the case between the two. And then you look like an honorable. But when you just treat everybody the same, like everybody's an equal criminal, the guy that rapes, pillages and plunders and murders and the DACA kid that's been here, you know, they got brought here at six years old and they don't even know Spanish hardly. Maybe a few words from home or something. But they're really raised as Americans. And they're, you know, they don't know any other place to go. They're not going to leave. It's the only country they really know. Those two aren't the same people.
[00:09:42] And to pretend they are is your folly. And so I believe a justice and mercy plan where we could start at the extreme ends and move to the middle pretty quickly and easily and then would be known as the fair but honorable people. But they didn't do that. And so they've lost the battle over that, James. They have. And look here. I just now got the notes for today's show. I guess my email was a little late to update.
[00:10:07] So I do see everything that you sent me, including Umar Kremlev, the Russian guard. Yeah, that's his name. Well, you know, you were talking with regards to immigration and with regards to the good that Trump has tried to do. I see here in the notes as well this, you know, the mail-in balloting getting struck down, surprise, surprise, by a judge.
[00:10:35] This is something that you would really want Trump to be able to do and that you're thankful that he's even attempting to do. But in any good that he – you know, you talk about Congress and rightly so, Sam. Hey, Barack has deported more people than Trump has. Well, they didn't mind it when he did it. That's right. And it wasn't an astonishing number. But, yeah. I mean, but here you have these judges. You know, again, this goes back to 2016 as well. You know, you're a judge.
[00:11:00] You're a no-name judge in some circuit you've never heard of, and you've got more power than the president. It's just – I mean, I don't understand that. And that's – how could you be against, you know, putting an end to mail-in voting? I mean, it is absurd. We've talked about this so many times. You have 30 days of early voting. Well, the court shut down Donald. Let me tell you why. The court shut down Donald again. And let me explain why they did.
[00:11:28] They're basically saying – and it's a Trump-appointed judge that did it, by the way. Put the nail in the coffin, so to speak. And the reason they did it, though, in all fairness, and I happen to agree with the judge, believe it or not, not that I agree with the outcome, but we need Congress. There are checks and balances in this country. And Congress could have got this done for Donald, and then it wouldn't be debated, and it wouldn't be shut down by the courts. But when Congress is derelict in their duty, out on vacation, you've literally got Mitch McConnell just came back from a four-month or whatever, three-month-plus hiatus.
[00:11:56] We didn't even know how well he was or what he was doing the whole time. No accountability there. Yeah, he lived. Congress on vacation all the time. Okay, what do you expect, James? The courts are going to shut down President Trump because he doesn't have authority. That's true, and I agree with him. But the way you get authority is you have Congress act in concert with the president, and then you get it done, and the court has to go along. Well, this would have been the easiest thing. I mean, just making sure people – you know, in extreme situations, if you're handicapped, you can't get out of the house.
[00:12:26] I mean, there's some medical issue where you're living abroad. Of course. Or if you're literally in the military and you're out of the country. Legitimate reasons, sure. That is it. I agree. And it could be done, though. Congress could right now rush a bill to the floor, pass it, get it done, and say, we backed Donald courts. Sit down and shut up. This is the law now. They could take action. What's Congress even doing? Do you have any idea? Well, it seems as though the only thing that they've done – they have spent Trump's –
[00:12:52] except for that flurry of executive orders back in January of 25, which we all liked. Yeah. Trump, Congress, the Republican Party, they spent all of this political capital, which you've got the most political capital right after you win. And then, you know, as time goes on, it begins to wane, and then you get into the midterms.
[00:13:14] But they spent all of Trump's political capital – and Trump himself was a part of this – on the big, beautiful corporate tax cut. That's it. I mean, that's really the only signature piece of legislation that I can think of. And I've got a corporation, and I don't know that I've got a big tax cut. I still get beat to the wall every time I file my taxes. Well, hey, listen. I mean, you talked about Gavin Newsom a second ago. I mean, get ready for this, folks.
[00:13:40] You know, let's not get too far ahead of ourselves because we've still got this midterm, and there's going to be a lot of – for political commentators like Sam and I, there's going to be just a lot of grist for the meal between now and November. So we're going to savor that as pundits and talk about the midterms and troubleshoot this thing. But once you get to January, Sam, the next presidential election starts. I mean, because they run for two years. You're going to start having people start doing –
[00:14:09] So Donald Trump won't even endorse J.D. Vance though now. He's holding off. So is it Vance? Is it Rubio? Is it Cruz? Who's going to come to the top of the ticket there, and who are they going to compete against? Is it going to be Kamala Harris and AOC? You know, they – Trump did not leave an ideological bench. I mean, there is no next wave – I mean, maybe Vance would be the closest you've got, a wave of ideological people that – Maybe Donald Trump Jr., except now the Russian story will come up.
[00:14:40] That embody the things that at least he ran on, whether or not he believed it or intended to do some things. But at least the ideas he ran on, you don't have that. You had that with people like Marjorie Taylor Greene and to an extent Massey and some others, but they're all gone now. Jeff Sessions. I mean, all these people who actually believed in a lot of the great positions. And they're gone because of Donald, really. Right? It really is mad. So don't believe what I say. Watch what I do. And that's my mantra.
[00:15:08] And I've said that since 2015, baby. That's the reality check of all time. Look what he's accomplished. And sadly, what is Donald Trump going to go down in history as the president? You know, all presidents have their kind of whatever they're known for. What do you think Donald Trump will be known for in the end? This is the thing, Sam. I mean, if he could be remembered for the issues that he championed rhetorically in the campaigns,
[00:15:35] the things that he actually did, I mean, what was it? It was the big, beautiful bill. And what was it in the first? Yeah, but that was make the debt $40 trillion is what that did. But that's it, though. I mean, you know, you don't really have a secure border. Now, you can say he's done some pretty good stuff on the border to some degree at least. Iraq. I mean, excuse me. Iran is what he's going to be remembered for probably more than anything. Sadly, you're right. Sadly, you're right. He's going to remember it as the guy that promised no war and took us to war. Read my lips. No new war.
[00:16:02] Got us in a war that even the most crazed war hawks in the Bush administrations, both of them, even Dick Cheney couldn't get into Iran. And Trump, who was running on a Buchanan-esque and really a Washingtonian foreign policy guy. That's what he's going to be remembered for. And that and, you know, the impeachment. And the bombast. I mean, it's endearing when he trains it on the media.
[00:16:32] But, you know, a lot of this stuff. But that's getting old, too, because it's only rhetoric. It has sort of. I got to say. Let me tell you why. He has a media company, and he doesn't put his money into his media company. He's using his media company to position his family for later crypto gains. And he really hasn't used the media. I mean, we are promised whitehouse.gov slash new media. And we all signed up for that, and I haven't heard a word since. Yeah, all of that stuff, which was all good.
[00:16:57] I mean, I think the one thing that is good from the Trump era and the Trump experiment is that he did make our issues winning issues. Now, who else is going to have the medal? And I will say this about Trump to his everlasting credit. He took all of this. Constant demonization. Constant attack. Constant ridicule. And just venom from the media. And it just. I mean, he was completely impervious to it. It was. That's right. To have.
[00:17:26] But I think those days are coming to an end, James. Well, I mean, now. Because even MAGA is not supporting him. Caroline Leavitt left and said she was going to go to her family only to find out she got hired by MAGA. So she's really probably making more money now than she was. And why she left and why she went to, you know, promote MAGA is another whole kind of discussion. Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve has a crucial meeting starting today and tomorrow. It looks like they're going to raise interest rates is what we're told. Oh, God.
[00:17:56] Oh, no. So what do you think of that? That ain't going to help anybody. That ain't going to help Trump. That's not going to help the Republicans. Trump's $5,000 dividend is facing opposition by all kinds of people. I mean, conservatives and real MAGA people are going, oh, socialism is fine when Donald does it. Well, you understand that the Democrats are not going to help the common people. Of course not. When you are the party that is not in power and people are being squeezed to death financially,
[00:18:26] they'll vote for anything that's different just on the hopes that something will change. And that you're going to see that more than anything, even more than the war, even more than, you know, the failure to have the deportations and really deliver on a lot of these big ticket items. It's just going to be. I mean, Carville was right about that. It's the economy, stupid. I mean, if this is people are struggling and they're going to vote for anything that's different. And unfortunately, that's going to be something that's probably worse. I mean, full-fledged democratic socialism.
[00:18:55] And as the demographics continue to change and the Republicans are really at a nadir right now in terms of. That's right. Well, there's a big fracture in the Republican Party. You know, the old school Republicans versus the MAGA people versus now the third rail in the Republican Party is those who are disenchanted with MAGA and old school. They're just saying, oh, you know what? Same's same.
[00:19:23] Federal judge blocks Trump's limits on foreign students and journalists. And so Trump tried to block. You know, you want to say, hey, how long can former students and journalists stay in the country? And the judge blocked Trump on that. So Trump getting a beating in the courts right now. This is something that Stephen Miller, who I do like, Stephen Miller said back around the time Trump first got reelected. I mean, we were a few months in.
[00:19:52] It was last year, maybe last summer. Over a year ago. But he said in order for the president to accomplish anything, he has to make sure that every judge in the country, and there's hundreds of them, that every single one of them agrees and is okay with it. Because otherwise you're just going to get the issue shot. Yeah, you'll have one wacko judge, a nobody, pop up and shut everything down and let the courts control everything. And that's where you need to start impeaching judges because then that would stop. But nobody's had the mojo to get that done either.
[00:20:22] Well, and of course, you know, they shop these things. Of course they do. Let's get the right judge that'll throw himself on the sword for the cause. Now, I guess they say this headline, and I find it laughable. Congress races against election clock with huge preterm agenda. Lawmakers face a, quote, compressed schedule.
[00:20:48] Spending other legislation all competing for floor time. As members turn their attention towards the elections. And my response is you clowns have been on recess more than ever. You guys have not taken up anything or backed Trump on anything. And now you act like you're at a race to get this done. James is laughable. Yeah. It's a race now to get it done here.
[00:21:16] Weeks before the midterm, you've had two years. You had two years to get that done. And there's all kinds of great initiatives Trump's tried to put in place. And you guys have not focused on any of it. I would have lost. You should have backed Trump to get rid of the income tax. Then you'd actually have a legacy to stand on. Circling back to one thing since we're talking about Congress. And then I will end with this last minute on a message of hope. I would have lost big money on Mitch McConnell being alive.
[00:21:43] I couldn't believe it when he shuffled back in to D.C. But also, I know it's sort of been a dour hour, if you will, in terms of. How do you know it's not a Mitch McConnell doppelganger? I was wondering about that. But the near term is going to be bad. If you're a God-fearing conservative. But the future, I still say, looks very good.
[00:22:13] Because of a lot of things that have happened, the Republicans are going to get wiped out, I think, right now. But if you look at how the kids are voting, you look, for instance, at James Fishback in Florida. He dominated, even though he got trounced in his bid against Byron Donalds in the Republican primary for governor in Florida. He mopped the floor with the youngest demographic and the second youngest demographic.
[00:22:39] So, as the older generations are unshackled from their mortal coil, as I like to say, there is hope that people with the true America first, you know, a lot of the things that we like that Trump was saying, that ideology, that mindset. Yeah, the younger generation is trending more towards real conservative values.
[00:22:59] Now, we just got to see if by the time they're the outright majority of the electorate, at least on the Republican side, we're not all in prison and they haven't stacked the courts and the Supreme Court and they haven't, you know, put Puerto Rico. I mean, they have, they are, and they will. See, that's going to be a problem. And then you got to start thinking about solutions. Yeah, just make Toronto a state and then, you know. That are beyond politics because there'll be no way to win then. And then what do you do? There's no chance to win. You pray hard.
[00:23:28] You trust in God Almighty. And the reason we're losing our conservative leanings and our constitutional leanings and replacing it with socialism and fascism and communism is because we're a godless people in society for the most part. And the only good news about that is young men are returning to church, James, and they're leading the way. And we pray they're successful. Amen, Brother Bushman. All right, so any final thoughts? Gird your loins. God is real.
[00:23:57] He sits in heaven. Nothing catches him by surprise. We do our duty. And I think there is reason to be hopeful for the future, just not the immediate future in November, if you think like us. And maybe our side needs to be tempered a little bit and punished a little bit and get a little stronger there. Well, we know this. When our side's not in power, we tend to actually stand up. That's absolutely right. For a change. So there's some positive there, too. And we pray that happens. Ladies and gentlemen, James Edwards, ThePoliticalSessPool.org.
