[00:01:10] I've had Cozy Earth products for five or six years.
[00:01:14] And I've loved them.
[00:01:16] So this is good.
[00:01:17] Trust me, this is good.
[00:01:18] They're doing it this week.
[00:01:19] Please take advantage.
[00:01:21] It also helps the show, too.
[00:01:22] CozyEarth.com.
[00:01:23] Code word is Kate.
[00:01:25] All right, Melissa, back here with you.
[00:01:27] I just wanted to say none of the charges, all the 10 counts, none of them were being illegal in this country, which is really fascinating when you think about it for a bar.
[00:01:36] So there's no charges whatsoever for being an illegal in this country because we fostered and paid for him to come.
[00:01:44] That would have to come on a separate hearing or a separate charge.
[00:01:49] This court proceeding was strictly related to the murder of Lake and Riley.
[00:01:56] And what I thought was interesting, if you read the comments, you can get quite an education there as well.
[00:02:03] Venezuela will not allow deportees from the United States.
[00:02:07] So they said we won't take them.
[00:02:09] So there was a big discussion on the comment board.
[00:02:13] But he's Venezuelan.
[00:02:14] What to do with him.
[00:02:16] He's from Venezuela.
[00:02:16] What are they going to do with him?
[00:02:18] And somebody said we can deport them to Mexico and then Mexico can deport them to Venezuela.
[00:02:24] Oh, I gotcha.
[00:02:24] So we'll see if that happens.
[00:02:26] Interesting.
[00:02:26] Keep an eye on this guy.
[00:02:27] That's a whole other rabbit hole.
[00:02:28] I doubt anything's going to happen.
[00:02:29] I believe he's going to be in jail here the rest of his life.
[00:02:32] Interesting.
[00:02:33] All right.
[00:02:34] So, okay, where do we go from here?
[00:02:37] You've got so many good things to talk about.
[00:02:39] Yes.
[00:02:39] Interesting things.
[00:02:40] And I want to pivot over to a subject that's very near and dear to my heart.
[00:02:44] Okay.
[00:02:44] So I have my oldest son had a very traumatic birth.
[00:02:51] Mm-hmm.
[00:02:51] And we have struggled as parents to, with, you know, child care and what do we do about
[00:03:02] this and that and school systems.
[00:03:04] And what do you do with a child who is struggling a bit?
[00:03:11] Mm-hmm.
[00:03:11] And I found this to be very interesting.
[00:03:13] The Institute of Family Studies, among others, are taking a look, a long, hard look at daycare
[00:03:21] again.
[00:03:23] And we have been sold the fact that daycare is just the solution to everything.
[00:03:29] You know, your baby, when you can go back to work when your baby is six weeks old, you
[00:03:34] don't.
[00:03:34] And I was told that when I had my baby.
[00:03:38] I did not go back at six weeks because my baby was still in the hospital.
[00:03:42] So I was longer with my son.
[00:03:47] However, my husband and I, we wrestled around and we decided that we were determined to keep
[00:03:52] our son out of daycare at all costs.
[00:03:55] So my husband went back to school to finish and I went back to work, but there was a parent
[00:04:01] with him.
[00:04:02] Right.
[00:04:03] And what this Institute of Family Studies study is revealing is fascinating.
[00:04:12] Okay.
[00:04:12] I'm going to play that clip.
[00:04:13] It comes from 1997.
[00:04:17] The beginning of this is in 1997 in a study in Quebec, Canada, when Quebec decided they
[00:04:24] were going to have a $5 a day national daycare system for every child.
[00:04:28] It was affordable health care for every family.
[00:04:30] And the assumption was that it was going to be fabulous and it was going to be the solution
[00:04:35] to everybody's problems.
[00:04:36] But what they found was extensive time spent in non-maternal care in early life has effects
[00:04:45] that persist across the entire course of development for that child.
[00:04:49] Then we can add to that, that research confirms that children exposed to early extensive daycare
[00:04:56] are at risk for social, emotional, and behavioral challenges that must be taken seriously.
[00:05:02] Amen.
[00:05:03] Not exactly the outcome they had anticipated.
[00:05:06] You know, yeah, in my local community, we had this legislator with a terrible record, but
[00:05:12] people thought he was a conservative and, and, uh, he got them to do $10 million in funding
[00:05:18] for the earliest childcare you can perceive.
[00:05:21] And it was, it was so gross because people were cheering that.
[00:05:25] And I was saying, you know, this is wrong.
[00:05:27] This is wrong.
[00:05:28] You don't want to move in this direction.
[00:05:29] And it's coming from our conservatives, which is even sicker, you know?
[00:05:33] Um, but, uh, but there again, this is the kind of stuff that people fall for when we come back
[00:05:38] to, you have a great clip, uh, that we're going to play.
[00:05:41] Be right back.
[00:05:42] You're going to want to listen to this clip.
[00:05:43] Be right back with Midwest Melissa.
[00:05:45] Be right back.
