It's Not About Party

On February 27, I had the opportunity to speak at "A Federal Case," a Campaign for Liberty event in Raleigh, North Carolina. It was obvious throughout the day, it's not about party; it's about the message. The Liberty message is spreading across America.
I spoke to Libertarians, Republicans, Democrats and Unaffiliated registered voters after my speech. Everybody agreed we must get our fiscal problems under control. A middle-aged man, self-described as a card-carrying Democrat for more than 20 years, said, "You are right. If we do not get our spending under control, we will have a bankrupt government with no money to pay for anything but interest expense."
If liberty-minded Americans put aside non-fiscal issues in 2010, we can put America's constitutionally limited government back on track.
While I am optimistic that Americans can and will vote for a constitutionally limited government in 2010, we must not waste this opportunity. Many young Americans have been disillusioned by the Obama administration. They see more of the same: big spending, big debt, and big talk. Baby boomers in particular must demonstrate responsible leadership.
All adult Americans know what it means to be financially responsible. We must demand the same of our political leaders. We must use the power of our vote on November 2nd responsibly. We can no longer support big-government Democrats and big-government Republicans. We must vote for Liberty candidates regardless of party affiliation.
America's founding principles (while not always fully applied in our history) are what make America great. Constitutionally limited government, individual liberty, self responsibility, voluntary charity, the rule of law, and a free market are not just rhetoric. These are the principles that make America a great country.
We must demonstrate to the world, and to ourselves, in 2010 that we believe in our principles. Do something for Liberty in 2010; get involved and vote for Liberty candidates. Let's restore the American principles we so dearly love for future generations of Americans.
